When one is unconscious, specifically your enemy, there’s so much you could do. And of course, people would stick to what they wanted to do.
+ Surge was one to misbehave rather very frequently.
Surge shoves her fist out of the blue blur’s stomach as she drops him carelessly, her glove soaked in blood as white fabric met with crimson.
She pants and puts her hands on her knees for support, staring down the corpse that now lays limp before her.
She grins, and lets the proudness settle in as she tells herself that she’s finally killed him.
That she succeeded in doing the one thing she was trained to do her entire life.
She had murdered Sonic the Hedgehog. Stabbed him in the gut.
She proved that doctor she stole the Dynamo Cage from wrong, she’s proven everybody wrong, wrong, wrong. This was the end of Sonic the Hedgehog. The ‘Hero of Mobius’ is now lying at the tenrec’s feet. What a weakling. She thought Sonic was never one to allow defeat.
She turns around to walk away as she hears the cries of that damned sidekick and the wolf she jumped, but she’s met with red eyes as soon as she turned around.
Very familiar red eyes, with orange circular glasses giving his identity away as the figure walks forward.
The figure to be known to her as none other than Starline.
“So, you’ve finally done it.” The platypus congratulates, clapping his hands together with a smirk on his face.
“ You . . . How did-“
“At last, you’ve succeeded. Sonic the Hedgehog is dead, and his blood is on your hands.”
Surge did not respond. Starline’s grin widens, and he continues.
“I can tell you’re hesitating, Surge. What of your hatred for Sonic? The world? You wanted him dead.”
“ Shut it. You don’t—”
“Why are you so guilty? If it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t have been here. Isn’t that also what you hold against that blue nuisance?”
Surge’s hand balled into a fist, she backs up reluctantly.
“You were never really cut out for anything except for Sonic, now watch as your conscious eats you alive.”
“SHUT UP!”
She lunges at Starline, bolts of electricity and light ready to strike angrily.
Surge struggles, feeling something holding her. And suddenly, nothings fuzzy anymore.
Teal arms wrapped around her waist, along with her arms, to restrain her from accidentally hurting herself.
Tears fell down the tenrec’s face. As she takes in quick breaths, her head turns left and right to look at her surroundings.
They were still in Central City, as she hears a ton of commotion going on (not to mention: way more than before), and she was behind a fallen structure caused by the destruction from not too long before-
.
She looks at her gloved hand. . .
It was still red.
Before she murdered Sonic.
Then she sees what is holding her.
No.
No a what, a who. It was Kit. Embracing her, preventing her from letting Surge hurt herself.
Worry written all over his face as he looks up at her. He mutters his name, hoping for a response. “. . Surge? ”
However, Surge doesn’t exactly respond to the fennec directly. Instead, she continued to somewhat hyperventilate.
“No- I killed him. There’s no way it should feel— I did- I wanted this—“
Surge tries to get a sentence out, but she can’t. Her thoughts proceeded to go haywire as Kit squeezes her.
“Surge, please-“
“I’m still not enough. I killed him, and it’s still not enough. I’ll never-“
“Surge!” Kit cuts her off, tears starting to fall from his eyes as Surge panics.
They stayed like that for a minute. Which felt like an eternity. Before Surge wedges out her cleaner, gloved hand from Kit’s grasp and rests it on the fennec’s head, rubbing the top of the fennec’s head.
Kit loosens his hold on the tenrec. They both settle down, and just tune in on the heavy commotion that’s going on.
They can tell some mobians we’re looking for the two, but they figured they were much too far away. Adding on, most of them were still mostly focused on Sonic.
Kit still clung onto Surge. As the two watch what’s going down. As Sonic’s friends attempt to take in what the hell happened to him.
As a pink hedgehog holds him close and cries a river. As the fox isolates himself. As more and more people pour in from left and right.
How just that many people come to just care for the hedgehog a minute.
Love is so stupid. But Kit apologizing profusely to her right now is just one of the things she doesn’t care about in at least not in a horrible way.
..
What now?
Surge kills the next person just below the top of her hit list, which is the one she stole the Dynamo Cage from.
Then what?
Her, and Kitsunami, become the next two heroes who replace Sonic and Tails.
Then what?
..
That’s where she’s stuck.
She knew that damned hedgehog had so much to do in his life. So many friends, so many things to see, to say, to love.
But Surge, on the other hand, had nothing except for Kit. Nobody cared about her except for him. And nobody ever possibly could after word probably would spread about what Surge has done.
And she knows everything she’d want would always be a lie. Whatever she‘d think she wanted would also be lies.
She was made to eliminate Sonic. Nothing more. Nothing less. Not to make friends. Not to love or cherish anything. No.
She was made to be a killing machine.
Surge the tenrec was like this only to terminate Sonic the Hedgehog. Not to have a life.
So now that she’s done it, what now?
Life isn’t going to take her anywhere good.
She’s nothing.
She was practically built like this for Sonic.
So now that he’s gone, what now?
SONIC. YOUR EXISTENCE KEPT ME FROM JUSTICE.
THERE WAS NO FREEDOM FOR ME. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU HAD TRIED TO REASON.
BUT YOU’RE DEAD NOW, AND SOMEHOW THERE’S STILL NOTHING HERE FOR US.
