Chapter Text
Peter had gone patrolling hundreds of times, and not once had he not come back from them.
But you know what they say; there’s a first time for everything.
Only Tony wishes it never came to that.
May was out of town and had asked him to look over Pete, how could he have said no?
He loved that kid, as much as he disliked to admit. He grew on the billionaire, and he knew that he should’ve kept that private.
Instead, he was reckless, and showed up to pick the teenager up from school a few times.
And maybe that was exactly what got him kidnapped.
Or maybe he was just unlucky and a villain got to him.
He didn’t know which was worse, Peter being taken or Spider-Man.
At 12:14am, FRIDAY managed to get the location of his suit and his Starkwatch.
To add up on their issues, they weren’t in the same spot.
Tony made a few calls to Rhodey and told him about it, and he quickly came to his aid.
It was just a matter of time until they found him.
He was going to be found.
Tony was going to make sure of that.
To get him away from any more possible danger.
Whoever messed with his kid, they had to pay.
It was up to Tony to find him and up to Peter for holding on long enough to be saved.
Could he hang on enough?
———
Peter woke up disorientated. He could’ve sworn he had opened his eyes. Then, why was it still black?
He blocked a few times to make sure of it and came to the conclusion that something was blocking his vision.
When he attempted to take it off, the teenager came to the next conclusion, that he was, in fact, kidnapped.
His hands were tied behind his back, and he was sitting on a mattress. He tried to move his legs, which ended up being tied as well.
He moved his head around and saw a tiny of light. Could it be the moon? Was he outside? In the middle of nowhere? Then, where was the mattress from? Did his kidnappers leave him?
“The golden child is finally awake.”
An unfamiliar voice said, and Peter directed his attention towards the sound.
“How about we play a game? Just until daddy dearest comes to aid. I’m sure he’ll love what I’m going to do to you.”
It didn’t take a genius to figure out whatever came next wasn’t going to be pretty.
Peter could take it. He was spider-Man.
Those people surely didn’t know that. He was in his civilian outfit when he got knocked out, and no one hinted his identity.
But, who was the one they referred to?
He couldn’t think much of it, as he got shived on his knees, on the cold concrete.
It was too smooth to be outdoors, so he was definitely in.
Where .
A loud smash was heard in front of him, followed by something wet covering his feet.
The next thing he knew, his head was getting dragged forward.
He couldn’t breathe. He was trying to keep his breath, but the bag was making it more difficult for him to keep his composure. He already had trouble with water, since the lake incident.
He didn’t want to drown, but at that moment it might’ve been a mercy.
“MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE. MAKE—“
His head was downed in again.
Another loud gasp for air.
“PLEASE, MAK—“
Another cry for help, one that no one cared enough to stop.
Each time the boy started choking on the water, they would get him out, then pursue to push him back in a few seconds after, until he ended up passing out.
The last thing he heard was the muffed voice of one of his captures.
“Let’s make it more exciting. Bring in the—“
——-
Rhodey ends up being the one who crashes the predators’ party, falling through the roof of an abandoned warehouse.
A warehouse, how original and clearly not suspicious.
Why was every villain’s base a warehouse or a basement?
Someone had to give those guys a downgrade.
Or maybe a raise would help them get better ideas.
War Machine alerted the other Avenger as soon as he got eyes on Peter. The boy who was limp, still had the bag over his head and the ropes around his wrist and ankles. Next to him, an empty syringe.
When Tony came it, he immediately came out of the suit and rushed over to the teen’s side. He took the bag away and threw it wherever he could.
“He doesn’t have a pulse. Rhodes, he- h-he’s not- he can’t be dead.”
Rhodey was already gone, after the other capturers.
It was just Tony and Peter.
He had to face it alone.
He failed to protect his kid.
He hugged him tighter, his limp body remaining still, reminding the man how he’s failed another soul.
He should’ve known better. Everyone that came close to him had it coming. His parents, hell.. Obadiah, Pepper, Happy, the rest of the Avengers and it seemed it caught up to Peter as well.
How was he going to tell his aunt he lost him? Her only relative, dead.
Not because of an accident, because he was out as Spider-Man.
Because he was associated with Tony.
Tears fell down the man’s face as he took another look at the boy.
“Tones, he’s going to be fine.”
Rhodey yells across the room.
“He’s dead. He’s gone.”
“They drugged him. It’s just slowing the heart rate.”
The man let go of the boy and turned his attention towards his friend.
“What.”
“He should be burning through them as we speak, right? Doesn’t he have fast metabolism. They said they injected him right after—“
He didn’t finish that sentence, which made Tony quirk an eyebrow.
“After what?”
He raised from the ground.
“I’m sorry, Tones…”
“What did they do, Rhodey?”
He came at the man, annoyed by the restraining he kept having to spit it out.
“It will probably be best to take him to the MedBay for further assistance.”
“You didn’t answer.”
“Look around you, Tony! What do you think happened?! I can’t. I can’t say it. Not again.”
“Not again, not again.”
Tony laughed drily as he looked around, only then taking in the scenery.
Water splashed everywhere, no sign of the source.
Then, it hit him.
The bag was wet.
Not from being in the splashed water.
It was dripping too much to be from just that.
God, those psychopaths.
He was going to make them pay.
“It’s over.”
“Not until those fuckers pay.”
“They have. They can’t hurt you or Pete anymore.”
Tony looked at him fondly, tilting his head in approval before getting into the suit and picking up the boy.
“Come on, the Jet arrived.”
Peter was safe.
Tony intended to keep it that way.
He couldn’t let this repeat.
Ever.
