Chapter Text
Ness remembers that day as clearly as the water flowing through the creek during childhood. The same creek that he and Kaiser once passed by as young children. That day Kaiser died from a car accident, leaving Ness all alone in this cold and cruel world with no one to stay for.
‘How did this even happen’ Ness thought to himself as he was dressed all in black for the funeral. He didn’t want to believe it, is this really his life now? All alone, by himself, with no one.
Of course, as expected, the entire Bastard Munchen team was there for their beloved Ace’s funeral. Beloved might not be how the whole team describes Kaiser, but it will be how Ness will describe him. His beloved Ace. They all stood there in silence, there was some sniffling as the coffin was lowered, but nothing came out of Ness. Not a sound, no sniffling, no tears. He isn’t sure why…he was sure that at the funeral he would cry the most since there were tears shed at the sight of the incident either.
Ness stood there as the memory of the incident flooded back to him, that day he remembers as clear as day. As clear as that childhood creek during childhood. He remembers Kaiser complaining about Isagi…he remembers Kaiser in a horrible mood and not paying attention to the road.
“I swear to god that kid Yoichi is going to be the death of me!” Kaiser complained in Ness’s memory. They were talking that day and walking side by side after a normal day at practice. Ness only smiled and looked at Kaiser with his usual amount of admiration, “You are better than him Kaiser, there’s no need to worry.” Ness flashed Kaiser his signature smile. They walked towards a crosswalk; Kaiser didn’t seem to be paying attention. And neither did Ness, before either of them could react, a car crashed towards them at likely 90mph. It was fast. Kaiser was walking on the outer part of the sidewalk while Ness was walking on the inner parts.
Ness’s eyes widened
Blood…
Blood.
BLOOD.
Kaiser’s blood was everywhere as his body was lying on the floor. Ness froze, he didn’t know what to do. People surrendering them watched in terror as they were yelling ‘Call an ambulance!’
Ness slowly knelt on the ground, with a shaky hand, he reached out towards Kaiser whose body had been torn from the car crash. His bones were shattered, and his pulse was slow. The only thing recognizable from that body was Kaiser’s blue rose tattoo, and even then it was hard to tell. Ness touched Kaiser’s bloodied face, it was cold. His breathing was shallow, he watched Kaiser’s chest rise and fall…until…it eventually stopped. Ness retracted his hands, he was scared. His best friend…stopped…breathing.
After that, the boy couldn’t remember anything else.
This brings him back to the reality of the funeral, where the name engraved on that gravestone says “Michael Kaiser”. The boy looked around him, his expression was monotone. There was only one focus in his eyes, it was that gravestone with his favorite person’s name engraved. ‘This isn’t fair, Kaiser. I did everything, I made sure to follow you. And yet you still abandoned me.’ Ness thought to himself, if anything, he felt more anger than sadness.
It’s strange, strange how he felt nothing when his loved one died. Maybe it just hadn’t hit him yet…
That day, the boy walked home alone for the first time. All by himself with no one with him. He passed by the same usual shops he and Kaiser would pass by, he passed by his and Kaiser’s favorite dessert shop. Shops went by one by one, as Ness picked up the pace. His slow walk eventually turned into a sprint. He wanted to run, he wanted to run away to a place where Kaiser was still here, he ran as the tears finally flowed down. It finally came out, the cold air hit his skin, and was immediately covered by his warm tears flowing down.
He ran till he reached the creek, he looked into the creek for his reflection. His nose was red and his cheeks were burning. His eyes were sticky and swollen as the tears still continuously flowed down. It wasn’t the most pleasing sight.
‘Ugly.’ Ness thought to himself as he wiped his tears, Kaiser hates ugly things. Ness hits his reflection in the creek causing ripples to form. It wasn’t fair to Ness, Kaiser leaving him was not fair at all.
Ness tried his best to wipe those tears, to stop the continuous flow or anything! He just wants to stop crying, he just can’t do this anymore. His soft cry eventually turned into a full-on sob, snot, and tears everywhere as he continued to wipe his face with his hands.
He misses Kaiser, he misses him so goddamn much. Maybe he loved him, maybe he loved him more than a friend. His tears fell down into that creek full of memories, causing ripples to ruin his reflection. He stood there, crying, wiping his tears for hours nonstop. He had cried until his head was hurting and his vision was blurring.
The sun had begun to set, leaving the sky an orange tint. The day was just like every day after practice, the cold wind flowing through his hair, it was somewhat sunny and somewhat cloudy. Except, today, Alexis Ness was no longer with Michael Kaiser.
After the sun had long set, the boy decided it was best to go home. It was cold on the streets of Germany, but Ness couldn’t feel it. The world is nothing in Ness’s eyes without Kaiser, the world isn’t worth living in without him.
He walked slowly across the bridge that was built on top of that creek and slowly passed by the stores that were still open. He passes by the drunken people on the streets shouting and screaming at each other. Although it was still quite well-lit on the streets, Ness only felt darkness. After all, Kaiser was his only light. ‘Damn…Was I really this attached to him?’ Ness thought to himself before a long sigh, ‘Of course I was, who am I kidding…’ Ness answered his own question in his head.
The cold wind caressed the boy’s flushed cheeks, it was cold. Not that Ness cared about it. Not that Ness cared about anything when Kaiser wasn’t around.
Ness’s eyes are still red from his ugly cry earlier by the creek, red and swollen. He probably shed more tears by the creek earlier than any other times he lost in soccer. Of course he did, Kaiser was the one who gave him value, or at least that’s what he had thought.
By the time the boy had gotten home from his slow stroll, it was already 11 p.m. Had he really walked that slow? Ness asked himself as he took off his jacket and hung it on the wall that was beside the door.
His house was quiet and dark, it almost felt strange to him even though he had lived alone for a while now.
He walked across the creaking wooden floor and made his way to the kitchen. He poured himself a cup of warm water and drank it. The liquid trickles down his throat, as he just stood there in the dark of the kitchen. Just in the corner of his eyes, he caught a glimpse of something, a bottle of Tylenol, or just simply fever medicine.
He set his cup down and walked over to it, slowly he reached his hand out. He read somewhere that it’s possible to overdose on such pills if the consumption is over eight.
He shaking hands reached out to the bottle, ‘There’s no point in living if Kaiser isn’t here.’ Ness thought as he grabbed the bottle and poured out a few pills.
One pill…two pills…three pills...
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
He swallowed them one by one with water, he felt sick in his stomach and wanted to puke. But he held it back, then, one more just in case eight wasn’t lethal enough. He consumed the ninth pill and swallowed it with water.
Slowly, he walked across the house and towards his room by the end of the hallway. The entire time he covered his mouth with his hands to try not to puke across the floor. When he entered his room, he was dizzy and his headache was only getting worse.
Ness flopped onto his bed and curled up, he flashed back to all the good memories of him and Kaiser as he had begun to cry once more. He held his pillow as he sniffled, and then he thought to himself, ‘What would the team think if I actually did die…’ he thought, he didn’t know what they would think. Will they think he really is just Kaiser’s dog and are willing to follow him to the afterlife? Or will they be sad like they were at Kaiser’s funeral? For once, the boy doesn’t know what to expect of them.
Ness lay there in his bed with no warmth whatsoever, only coldness even with the amount of sheets on top of him. His body temperature lowered as his headache only got worse and worse. His vision blurs, his stomach turns, and his heart rate slows down.
The boy’s eyes eventually closed. His body had gone cold and stiff in that bed that once kept him warm. It was supposed to be Kaiser’s funeral, but it seems that Ness wanted to follow that man even to death. It was like the wedding vow, ‘Till death do us apart’, but even in death, Alexis Ness refuses to let go of the man he had worshipped and loved every day of his life.
The boy was at peace .

.
Beep…beep.
A brown-haired boy with magenta highlights reached his hand out to shut the alarm. He got up and rubbed his eyes as he looked at the time.
8:30 am .
It was still quite early for him, and today he felt especially groggy because of that strange dream he had. That dream really made him question a lot of things. To start off, the boy never in his life had met someone named Michael Kaiser let alone played soccer with him, in fact, the boy never played soccer in his life!
The boy’s name is Alexis Ness, and he turned 18 not too long ago.
He got off his bed and went to the bathroom to get ready for the day, he washed his face, brushed his teeth, and dressed well. Alexis walked downstairs grabbed a pancake his mother made and was ready to go off to school. When he exited the door, the sun was bright and the city was warm. And yet he still couldn’t shake that horrifying dream he had earlier, ‘oh well,’ He thought as he walked down the streets and looked at the dessert shop and passed by the creek, ‘It’s just a dream, not like I actually know those people in them.’ When he walked across the bridge built on top of the creek, it oddly reminded him of the scenery in the dream, the scenery felt so familiar and the dream was so vivid. It sent chills down Alexis’s spine.
The boy walked until he passed by a dessert shop, it was strange. The shop felt oddly familiar to him like it had appeared to him in that dream of his.
‘Kaiser, let’s go to that dessert shop.’ Ness said with his usual cheerful smile. Kaiser merely rolled his eyes but eventually agreed to go in with Ness. That was a happy memory.
What is this? This was never part of Alexis’s memory. It was like this memory of someone else just flowed into his head, and yet the person that he called ‘Kaiser’ felt familiar to him.
The boy sighed and decided might as well check out the dessert shop while he still had time before school is going to start. He pushed open that door with two hands, the dessert shop wasn’t too crowded.
He observed the decorations of this place, an oddly familiar feeling. He made his way toward the cashier and ordered, the name of the dessert rolled off his tongue so effortlessly like he had been here countless times.
After Alexis had ordered he sat down at one of the few tables in the dessert shops, then he heard the doorbell ring again. That was when a familiar figure, a tall, pale, male with blonde hair dyed blue tips, and blue eyes walked in. The man also had a blue rose tattoo on his neck and its vines wrapped around his arm.
One name popped into Alexis’s mind as he felt his body shake. It was like memories rushing back to him and yet he didn’t know where those memories came from. Alexis felt like he was going to cry and yet he didn’t know why. It was just a man he had never met walking in, why did he feel such strong emotions? Why did he feel like he had known this man his whole life?
“Kaiser…” Alexis said under his breath and covered his mouth, he hoped the man didn’t hear him. But instead of focusing on the menu, the man turned towards Alexis, his blue eyes staring into Alexis’s magenta ones. The man raised a brow, he seemed rather confused.
“How did you know my name?” The man named Kaiser said. Alexis froze, he didn’t know what to answer. ‘I met you in my dream’ Yeah no, even Alexis knew that answer was stupid. For a while, Alexis just sat there with Kaiser staring into his soul.
