Work Text:

“Nightwing? Nightwing, come in. Can you hear me?”

Babs sat in her chair, illuminated by the ghostly green light of her screens. Dick’s tracker had blinked out three minutes ago. No response since.

“Nightwing?”

Nothing. Babs spun her chair to one of her other screens, opening a comm link with Tim.

“Robin?”

Yeah?” came the instant reply. “What’s up?”

“Nightwing isn’t responding and his trackers are down,” Babs said. “I need you to head to his last known location to see if you can find anything as to why.”

On it,” Tim replied.

——

Oracle?”

“Robin,” she said promptly. “Any updates?”

Yeah,” Tim said, “it’s not exactly looking great.”

“What’s not looking great?” Babs said, leaning forward.

He’s down in a warehouse about a block and a half from where his trackers went out. He’s not the only one there, either. I’m counting at least a dozen guys milling around. I can’t tell if Nightwing is conscious or not.”

Babs exhaled sharply. “Stay where you are. I’m sending Batgirl your way now. Do not do anything until she gets there.”

But –

“No buts,” Babs said. “My word is final, Robin. Do not engage.”

Tim huffed, frustrated, but his tracker stayed in place.

——

Tim was a lying rat and Babs was going to infect all of his devices with malware.

“I told you not to engage,” Babs said, clipped.

Tim was breathing heavily through the comm. “I’m fine. ‘Tis but a scratch, promise.

“Yeah, I’m sure Agent A will agree,” Babs grumbled. Tim was extremely lucky Cass had swooped in when she did, or the amount of Bats in Gotham would have been halved.

Cass’s comm lit up on the screen. “It is just a scratch.

“Not you too, Batgirl,” Babs said tiredly. “Just – just head back to the Cave. Please. And no more near death experiences.”

I’ll have you know I didn’t nearly experience death at all tonight.

Dick’s comm link finally lit up again. Tim’s verdict had been pretty lacking in detail, besides the fact that Dick had a few broken ribs and a bruised jaw. “Aw, love you too, O.

Babs ‘hung up’ on them. She could still hear their consequent giggling through her speakers as they made their way back home.

Notes:

Yippee (im so tired)
