So what do you do when you are stuck with the ghost of your enemy?

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Tommy was turning logstedshire upside down. It had to be here somewhere. But where was it!
“Where is that stupid chest? It is here somewhere.” Tommy whispered desperately. “He can’t have found it already. That’s not possible.”
Finally he found the chest. He sighed in relief and opened it. Only to find that it was empty…
“What? No! No, no, no, no!” Tommy stumbled away.
Where was the axe of peace?
Quickly Tommy turned around and he noticed the portal was broken. How did that happen?
He caught a glimpse of a purple shimmer.
Suddenly the shimmer moved, and Dream stepped out from behind the portal frame. “Hello Tommy. Did you miss me?”
“YOU! What are you doing here?” Tommy yelled.
“I just came to visit. Can't an old friend visit you?”  Dream said as he slowly stalked forwards.  Tommy backed away, afraid that Dream would attack him. “You, you should be imprisoned.”   Tommy stuttered. “Yeah but clearly I'm not.”  Dream laughed. “Hey, welcome back, you're back in Exile. Back at home.”
Dream kept walking towards Tommy and Tommy kept walking backwards. “ Please, please don't come closer.”  he pleaded.
Dream laughed.  “Why so scared, Tommy? I'm just your friend.”
“No, no you are not. Get away from me.” Tommy screamed and he turned around and ran. Dream was quick to pursue.
Tommy looked back and ran even faster when he saw Dream follow him. “Please, leave me alone!” Tommy shouted as he tripped and fell.
Dream caught up with him and got ready to swing his axe down at Tommy.

Tommy kicked out towards Dream’s knees. He felt the hit land and as Dream fell to the ground, Tommy stood up and ran again. Expecting Dream to immediately be behind him again, Tommy looked behind him. But Dream was still where Tommy had kicked him against the ground. Dream was pulling himself up with his axe, wincing in pain. Tommy looked at Dream’s sword that was laying next to him. As quickly as possible he turned around and ran back to Dream and grabbed the sword. He kicked Dream in the side, and to Tommy’s surprise Dream fell down again crying out in pain.
This time Dream recovered quicker. He used his axe to stand up, and he glared at Tommy.
“I swear to XD, I will kill you!” Dream growled.
Tommy shivered. “You should be in prison.”
“But I am not. I deserve to be out of prison. I earned it!” Dream said as he stalked towards Tommy.
Frantically Tommy looked around for an escape route. At that moment Dream decided to charge.
But Tommy noticed that Dream was slower and less stable on his feet then normal. And he was right, because Dream’s knee suddenly gave in and Dream fell to the ground. Tommy immediately kicked Dream’s axe away.
“Tommy, you don’t have to do this.” Dream said, pleading at the teen.
“Why wouldn’t I? YOU RUINED EVERYTHING FOR ME!” Tommy shouted, as he pointed the sword at Dream’s throat.
“Tommy, listen to me..”
“NO! Stop talking!” Tommy yelled as he pressed the blade further against Dream’s throat.
Dream immediately shut up and stared at Tommy.

With shaking hands Tommy held the point of the sword against Dream’s neck. He could do it. He could kill his enemy right now and never have to think of it ever again.
Dream seemed to notice Tommy’s thought process.
“Do it. If you think it will solve everything, kill me. Go on.” He taunted, and the sudden shift from him begging for his life to this took Tommy off guard.
But a sudden burst of confidence overtook Tommy and he pushed the sword forward through Dream’s throat. Tommy watched as Dream’s eyes rolled to the back of his head and the tyrant took his last breaths.
In shock, Tommy let go of the sword and stared at his hands. He had done it. He had killed Dream. Dream was gone!
Part of him was cheering. He did it, his problems were gone. But another part was panicking. He killed someone, he killed his only friend. No, Dream wasn't his friend. But he killed him and didn't that make him the same level of evil as Dream?
Tommy had to go home before someone else found him here. He left Dream’s body and the sword and sprinted home as quickly as possible. That was easier said than done, because he first needed to find a nether portal that worked.

As soon as he saw the front door of his house he ran even faster. He burst in, closed the door and locked it. Shroud skittered out of his room. “What is wrong?” The spider hybrid asked. But when Tommy didn’t answer, Shroud sat down next to Tommy and hugged him.
Shroud sat with his dad until he heard a knock on the door.  “W-who is there?”  Tommy stammered,  still shaking from the fear. “It's me, sapnap. Is everything alright Tommy?”
“Everything is fine. Is there already news about Dream?”  Tommy asked.
“That's what I wanted to talk with you about,  can I come in?” Sapnap asked.
Tommy hesitated. There was no way it was a trap. Dream was dead. So, it couldn’t be one of Dream’s tricks.
So, carefully Tommy unlocked the door. He let Sapnap in, the blaze hybrid giving him a reassuring smile.
“How are you holding up, Tommy?” Sapnap asked.
“Stressed. Very stressed.”
“I get that. After Dream escaped. But I have some good news about that.”
“What could possibly be good news in this situation?” Tommy muttered.
Sapnap looked at Tommy. “Dream was found dead at Logstedshire. Someone stabbed him through the throat.”
Tommy stared in front of him. They had already found the body? How? And this quick?
And like Sapnap could read his mind, he responded: “Punz found him. He was searching the parts near Logstedshire and Techno’s base.”
They had really found him? And this quickly? Were they gonna blame him?
Tommy looked up when he heard another noise at his front door, however Sapnap was quicker and glared at the door.
“George, what did I say? Stay outside! You know Tommy doesn’t like being crowded like this.”
“Owh, I am sorry. I just wanted to be here.” He grumbled.
Sapnap rolled his eyes. “Don’t mind him, he is just a bit angry at everything that is happening.” He said to Tommy and Tommy softly nodded.
“But hey, Dream is dead. You don’t have to worry about him anymore.” Sapnap said reassuringly.
“Aren’t they going to look for who killed him?”
“Why would we? He was a tyrant, nobody really cared for him so nobody would benefit from finding the culprit.”
George scoffed and Sapnap rolled his eyes.
“Oh, my mistake. The only one who is pissed about Dream’s murder is George. Even though up until yesterday we weren’t even allowed to call Dream by his name in the house.”

Tommy sighed. “I am okay. Just overwhelmed. But knowing Dream is dead helps a lot.” He said with a fake smile.
Sapnap looked at him a little concerned, but then he stood up. “Alright, I have to go talk with Sam and Punz now. But if you need anything, you can message me. I will be right here, then.”
Tommy nodded and then Sapnap and George left, but not before George glared once more at Tommy.
“He is just angry.” Shroud said when he saw that his dad was feeling bad about George’s behaviour.
“I know. I know… I am just stressed and tired from all that happened today. How about we sort some chests out and then we go to bed?” Tommy suggested and Shroud nodded.

So, the rest of the afternoon Tommy and Shroud cleaned up the house and sorted chests.
“It looks a lot better. I think we can go to bed now. How about you get ready for bed, and I will come to say goodnight when you are ready?” Tommy said to Shroud.
Shroud nodded happily and ran to his room. Tommy went into his own room.
He closed the door behind him and walked over to his closet. Suddenly something fell on the ground and Tommy jumped. He turned around and looked around the room. “H-hello?”
For a second he swore he heard a deep chuckle, but then he didn’t hear it anymore.
He walked over to what had fallen on the ground. It was a picture frame from Pogtopia. It might not have been the best time of his life, but in the picture it was him, Tubbo, Wilbur and Techno. One of the few happy memories.
“Dad!” Shroud called for him and quickly Tommy walked to his room. Shroud was already sitting in bed, holding on to his raccoon plushie.
“You are already ready for bed? That’s fast.”
“I am so fast! The fastest on the server.” Shroud said excitedly.
“You sure are, kid.” Tommy said with a smile as he ruffled Shroud’s hair. “Sleep well kid.”
“Sleep well.” Shroud said and then he laid down in his bed.

Tommy went to his own room and soon went to sleep as well.
He was sleeping restlessly, getting plagued by dreams about what happened at Logstedshire earlier today.
With a scream he woke up. He sat up and looked around the room.
There seemed to be nothing wrong. “I-it was just a nightmare. As it always is. Dream is dead. I am safe.” Tommy told himself.
“Pfft, you would think you know better by now.” A scarily familiar voice suddenly said.
“Who is there?!” Tommy screamed out into the darkness of his room.
“You know who I am, Tommy.” The voice whispered in Tommy’s ear. Quickly Tommy whipped around to look behind him, but there was only a wall.
“So, where are you hiding your prized possessions?” The voice taunted.
And then it clicked in Tommy’s head.
“D-Dream… You are dead. How are you here?!” Tommy shouted and he dashed to his lightswitch and turned on the lights. There was no one in his room…
“Oh, you are totally correct. I am dead. But Wilbur had a ghost, so I have one as well. But unlike dumb little ghostbur, I kept all my memories.”
Tommy stared at the wall. This couldn’t be real…
“Well, why are you here then?! Go haunt George and Sapnap or something.”
“I can’t. I am stuck with you. When you killed me, I had to pick something to latch onto and in my… haste, I might have picked you.”
“S-so, you can’t leave me.”
“Nope, I am stuck with you here.” Dream said with a chuckle.
