Chichi had spent many hours reading books that had dramatic, heart wrenching romance, each one always ending in some sort of “happily ever after.”
If that was the standard for a romantic relationship, then her own marriage would almost hit rock bottom.
She flipped the page of the book she was reading, though she was not really reading the words.
Her thoughts drifted elsewhere. “How do you put up with him?” so many people had asked her, in many different ways.
And she simply shrugged and smiled fondly. “I don’t know.”
He’s infuriating. He’s messy. He’s unpredictable. He’s careless.
And yet she could never stay angry at him for any longer than an hour.
He cares. He’s attentive. He protects. He makes her laugh. He appreciates her.
He loves her, completely and wholeheartedly.
As she got to the last few pages of her book, spiky black hair entered her vision, preventing her from reading any further. She looked up to find the very focus of her thoughts, in all his handsome glory. Goku was leaning over from behind her chair, upside down face smiling brightly at her.
“Hey,” she said, returning his blinding smile.
“Can I kiss you now?” he promptly asked, inching closer to her lips.
She laughed softly, having told him earlier to take a shower before coming anywhere near her. “Don’t have to ask me twice,” she breathed.
His lips gently caressed her own, and her unfinished book was completely forgotten.
Yes, he most definitely was not perfect.
Yes, their love wasn’t as ideal as some of the others, but it was theirs.
She was entirely his, and he was entirely hers.
