Chapter Text
"In this economy, who doesn't have migraines and insomnia?" Changbin scoffs at Seungmin's so-called fortune telling.
Jeongin turns around immediately, eyes bright, "I don't!"
Hyunjin snickers from behind him at the irony of the situation and in the corner of his eye, Felix shoots him a concerned glance.
Changbin blushes a bit, and ducks his head. The subject quickly changes, and the topic is pushed to the back of his head, forgotten for now.
That night, Changbin lies in bed uncomfortably, hands folded on his stomach. Doesn't everyone get migraines from time to time? And who doesn't struggle with falling asleep anyways?
It probably isn't a big deal, their maknae is just different.
It's not his fault, is it?
He closes his eyes, willing his doubts away and trying to slow his breathing. Less than a minute later, his eyes flutter open again, and he sighs tiredly.
The soft pitter patter of his bare feet against the cold wood sound thunderous in the silent house at 2am as he tiptoes over to Felix's room.
The blonde's fluffy hair peeks out above his blanket, and Changbin slides into bed with Felix as quietly as he can.
"Hm?" Felix groans sleepily, turning away from where he was cuddling his pillow imprinted with Changbin's face to be met with the real life Changbin.
"Nothing. Go back to sleep, Yongbok-ah." Changbin quickly reassures, sneaking an arm around Felix's warm torso.
Felix cracks his eyes open blearily, "S'thing's wrong, hyung? You rarely find me at nigh' like this." His Australian accent intensifies with his sleepiness, and he scrunches his nose up in joking complaint when Changbin can't help but let out a slight giggle.
"Do you want to talk about anything that's bothering you?" Felix huffs out a breath of warm air that hits Changbin's face, and he mutters out a brief, "Ew, your breath smells." before replying.
"I don't think there's a specific thing that's bothering me. Just that I feel quite overwhelmed sometimes, and it's hard for me to fall asleep. I also get bothered by headaches a lot, but I always thought that was normal."
Felix nods understandingly, "What do you mean by normal?"
"It's just... you know the SKZ Code episode we filmed earlier? I thought... I thought everyone struggled with migraines and insomnia. I thought it was normal, because Chan-hyung and Jisungie have also mentioned having these problems before. But it's not!" Changbin says miserably. "What's wrong with me? I don't understand."
"Hyung, don't say that. There's nothing wrong with you." Felix is wide awake now, and he peers at Changbin with obvious concern filling his eyes. "I often find it hard to sleep, and sometimes I get headaches too."
When Changbin's brows don't unfurrow, and his thoughtful expression remains unchanging, Felix tries again, knowing that Changbin prefers knowing facts and data, "I think from a more scientific viewpoint, the reason why you get migraines is because of sleep deprivation. And the reason why you can't sleep is because of stress, or because your sleeping environment is uncomfortable. Maybe you're feeling too hot, too cold, or your pillow is too hard. These are all factors that could affect your sleep."
Changbin ponders his words for a moment, "Yeah, you're right. I'm so sorry for bothering you. Can I just... stay here for a few more minutes before I go back? Your bed is just so warm."
"You can stay for the whole night, hyung. Maybe a change of surroundings can help you sleep better."
Changbin snuggles into Felix with a content sigh, "Thanks, Yongbokkie. You're the best."
Felix's soft and steady breathing quickly lulls him into a calm and relaxed state, however, he is still unable to fall asleep.
The blankets start getting too hot and sticky, and he fights the urge to wriggle and adjust his sleeping position. When Felix twitches with his movements, he moves to get out of Felix's bed with a resolved groan as to not disturb the younger boy with his constant fidgeting.
"Hyung? Where are you going?" Changbin has barely made it out of the tangle of blankets and stuffed toys when Felix calls out to him sluggishly.
"I still can't sleep, and I didn't want to disturb you even more. I'm sorry." Changbin turns around sheepishly, apologetic expression on his face.
Felix holds his arms out, his eyes glimmering with something that Changbin can't pinpoint, "Hyung, you'll never disturb me. I promise. Come here and cuddle with me, please?"
Changbin is about to decline his offer—as tempting as it sounds—out of worry for the younger's sleep schedule, but finds himself wrapped in Felix's comforting embrace a few moments later.
"Binnie-hyung, I know you're stressed. And I really appreciate everything that you do for me, and the other members. But sometimes, it's good to take a break, which will make you feel better and help you work better too. I love you, and I hope you dream of me tonight." Felix smiles sweetly, the corner of his eyes crinkling, and everything else doesn't matter anymore for a short moment.
Changbin flushes bright red in the dark room and buries his head in Felix's chest with a large grin, but still doesn't forget to reply cheekily, "Felix, you know I'm super shy, super shy! Aigoo, you made hyung blush." His tone turns fond. "I love you too, Yongbok-ah. Thank you."
"Go to sleep, hyung. I'll be here when you wake up."
After a few moments of silence, Felix starts humming a familiar tune that Changbin can't name the title of in his muddled state.
"Your voice is really nice, Yongbok-ah. You should... you should sing more for me privately." Changbin mumbles drowsily, feeling Felix's chest rumbling as his chuckles.
He focuses on Felix's deep, soothing voice, his chest rising and falling next to his, and his small hands tapping out a distinct beat on his hip.
The last thing he feels before he drifts off to slumber is Felix's lips pressed against his forehead.
