Work Text:
Character: Tom Riddle
Prompt: (Object) Love letters
Pressing his lips together, Tom said nothing as he shoved another letter into his school bag. This was the ninth this week. He didn’t understand why people sent all these love letters. They were annoying, and they were a waste of ink and parchment – not to mention time.
Despite his feelings, Tom never said anything. He merely took his letter and set them aside for later. Though he didn’t read them. He hadn’t read a love letter since he received one from Myrtle in third year. All of the letters he acquired were stored in his truck.
“Some wizards have all the luck,” Osborn Yaxley muttered. “Think Avery will pay attention to anyone else?”
Tom ignored the other wizard as he headed towards Potions.
“Yaxley just needs to send a courtship offer,” Ulric Nott muttered as he fell in step next to Tom.
Damon Rosier laughed, “That would require courage, something Yaxley lacks.”
“Yaxley should focus more on classes than witches,” Theon Nott stated, shaking his head.
The group quickly entered the Potions classroom and took their assigned seats.
“Here,” Vijaya Patil said, thrusting a piece of parchment towards Tom as she sat down.
Tom frowned, taking the parchment.
“It’s my notes for the Defense project,” Patil stated, rolling her dark eyes, “not a blasted love letter.” She paused for a second, eyeing Tom. “Besides you’re not exactly my type, Riddle.” Patil’s tone was dismissive.
Tom felt a spark of interest. There was something about Patil. She was a powerful witch with long dark hair, dark eyes, and a dark complexion. She was a loner with top marks, usually coming in a place or two behind Tom.
