Work Text:

Bad days weren't really a usual.

Not since they had moved into the cottage. But those days were still there anyways. I could be from everything, from a serious reason to the dumbest of things.

The angel, for example, wasn't having his best of days. He had woken up tired, with a feeling of soreness he couldn't explain. He had already stretched both body and wings, but the feeling remained there. There was also a subtle but annoying ache in his head, making him slightly dizzy.

He had tried not to put much mind to it and open the bookshop anyways, but once the demon had noticed the change in his usual demeanor, he had insisted for him to stay home.

"Are you sure?" He said, squeezing Crowley's hand on his own gently.
"Yeah. It's just a day, angel. You can open tomorrow if you're better, but you should rest today." Crowley answered, placing his hand on the other's cheek carefully. "Okay?",
"Alright." Aziraphale muttered, leaning his head gently against the demon's hand.

Crowley smiled, giving him a small kiss.
"You should lay down for a bit. And no books. It could make the headache worse." Crowley muttered, stroking Aziraphale's cheek with his thumb. Aziraphale let out a groan which made Crowley chuckle, but nodded.

He sat down in the couch, leaning back against it. Crowley snapped his fingers, closing the curtains of the living room's windows.
"Are you cold?" He asked.
"A bit."
The demon grabbed a blanket and covered him gently, sitting next to him in the couch.

Aziraphale sighed, nuzzling against the blanket. It wasn't usual for him to feel bad, which made Crowley worried. Of course there was sick days, but they weren't usual to the point of becoming normal. There was also bad days, mostly from the demon himself, where he wouldn't feel sick, but he felt like he couldn't get up from bed.

Like everything was spinning around him, and it was all his own mind's fault. But the angel always helped him get out of it. It was never on reverse. At least Crowley had never seen it.

"You okay? Like, not only physically?" He asked finally, placing his hand on Aziraphale's thigh gently.
"I think so. I just feel like something's just slightly dragging me down, for no reason."
Crowley nodded, resting his head on the angel's shoulder.

"That's okay, too. It's normal to feel like that sometimes." Crowley looked up at him. Aziraphale smiled, kissing his cheek.
"Thank you, dear." He whispered, wrapping his arms around the demon weakly.
Crowley smiled as well, placing his chin on the top of Aziraphale's head. "Always." He said.

"Why don't you rest for a bit now? You don't have to sleep or anything. Just rest."
"Okay." He whispered closing his eyes gently.
Crowley smiled for a moment, but the smile vanished quickly as he was still worried.
"You should rest too, dear boy." Aziraphale murmured, but Crowley was too tense to do so.

He nodded softly, the angel not noticing as his eyes were already closed. He knew Aziraphale wasn't one to sleep; he would stay all night reading by him or just looking at the sleeping demon and running his hands through his hair, only sleeping sometimes. But even if he didn't take a nap, a bit of time not focusing on anything and just relaxing back would be good for him.

He stood up from the couch into the kitchen, figuring out it wouldn't be bad to make the angel a cup of tea. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, walking up to the stove. As he put the water to boil and opened the cabinets, his mind got an idea.

Baking.

He hadn't baked in a while, but it didn't seem as that bad of an idea. At the end, if something didn't turn out the best, he could just miracle it back to good.

He thought for a moment, thinking about what he could do to cheer the angel up. Cookies? Nah. Cake. Cake sounded good, didn't it? It was a safe go-to, at the end. Crowley nodded at his own thoughts.

He opened the cabinets, pulling the box of honey tea he was planning on making in the first place as well as some flour and other ingredients.

He opened the fridge. They had gone to a farmer's market Aziraphale had insisted on going for the atmosphere of it. It was pretty boring, but in a good and nice way. Like calm. The demon liked calm days.

He looked around, pulling a small box of strawberries. He didn't know if the angel had bought them for anything in special or just for the pleasure of it, but he could miracle more if they were to need them later.

He picked it up as well as a few more things, leaving them in the countertop. After messing around for a while and putting the thing into the oven, he realized that he had forgotten the damn tea, finally making it.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, looking down at the final product. It had came out just how he wanted it to, so that was something. He grabbed a smaller plate and cut a slice gently, placing it there. He added a bit of cream and chopped a few small pieces of the left strawberries and added them, smiling as he saw the result.

He picked up the plate and mug gently, making his way to the living room. Once there, he sat down on the couch and left the plate and mug on the coffee table, looking down at the angel.
"Heya. You alive there?" He muttered, placing his hand on Aziraphale's leg. Aziraphale opened his eyes gently, looking up at him.

"Oh, hi, dear." He muttered, sitting up and rubbing one of his eyes. He smiled and gave Crowley a kiss.
"I made you some cake." The demon whispered.
Aziraphale's eyebrows raised, looking at the table. "Oh, Crowley..." He smiled, taking the plate gently.

" 'm sorry if it ends up tasting weird. Haven't baked in a while." He muttered, looking down at the plate in the angel's hands. Aziraphale smiled sweetly, kissing Crowley's cheek. He picked up the spoon and took as small bit of it, tasting it.

"Oh dear, this is fantastic!" Aziraphale grinned, taking another small bit and raising it towards Crowley's mouth. The demon hesitated for a second but finally opened his mouth. The flavour was sweet, not anything from another world like Aziraphale made it look, but good.

"I can't thank you enough." He whispered softly. Crowley smiled, kissing Aziraphale's forehead. "I just thought you looked down. Wanted to cheer you up."
"You're so nice, dear." He smiled.
" 'm not-" he tried to say, but he was interrupted by the sweet flavour again, but definitely not coming from cake.
