Truth or Dare

Summary:

Chimney dares Eddie to hit on the hot guy at the bar thinking it would go as poorly as when he tries to pick up women. That is until everyone is in for a surprise.

Work Text:

“You want me to do what?” Eddie nearly spat out his drink at Chimney’s dare.

“I want you to get a guy’s number. Come on Diaz, you picked dare.” Chimney teased.

“Why are we even playing truth or dare? We’re grown adults.” He whined looking to Karen to be the voice of reason.

The table laughed and Hen took a sip of her drink “Strong words from a man who dared Buck to prank call Bobby.”

Eddie smiled wickedly at that and chuckled “I still can’t believe he did it.”

They glanced over where Buck was still pouting from the earful he got from his boss. “You guys were no help.” He murmured.

“Come on, stop stalling. Go get that guy’s number.”

Eddie shook his head, grabbed one of the shots from the table and downed it before jumping from his seat. Now or never . He decided to approach it like he already knew the guy, like they had been friends for awhile and they were fucking around. Like he was Buck.

He strolled up to the bar next to the guy who gave him an appreciative look up and down. “Do you believe in love at first sight or… should I walk by again?” He asked smoothly, letting his southern twang pitch through his voice ever so lightly.

The man let out a deep laugh “Oh man, that was an awful line. Does that usually work for you?”

Eddie shrugged “Thought I would try it out, no go huh?”

The man shook his head “No, not at all. You need to learn how to flirt.”

Eddie took a small step closer, just enough to enter the man’s personal space. He was a head taller than Eddie so he had to look up, he let his tone drop an octave and looked as inviting as he could manage “I could use a tutor, you available?”

“Uh…” the man swallowed and licked his lips. “Right… now?”

Eddie sighed like he was distressed about something. “Well right now, I’m here with my friends and it wouldn’t be right to abandon them.” He gestured to the team who immediately found the table and ceiling very interesting. “But maybe I can get your number and we can connect later.”

The man raised an eyebrow turning fully toward him, “Have ourselves a little study session?”

Eddie shook his head “Oh no baby, there ain’t nothing little about it.”

The man swallowed again, “That’s a double negative.”

Eddie smiled, “See, I’m already learning from you.”

The man laughed, asking the bartender for a pen and writing down his number on Eddie’s hand. “Look forward to hearing from you, stud.”

“You better be.” Eddie teased and made his way back to the table to a very shocked group of people.

“What the hell was that?” Hen asked as soon as he sat down.

Eddie tilted his head “What?”

“What. What?” Chimney nearly shouted. “You can barely remember how to speak when you hit on a woman but you pull that shit out? Where was that Eddie hiding?”

Eddie pulled out his phone, quickly entering the number into his contacts and putting his phone back.

“More than that…” Maddie pointed at Eddie “Did you just save that guy’s number?”

Eddie nodded, “Why let a perfectly good opportunity go to waste?”

“I feel like that wasn’t a challenge, I take back my dare!” Chimney announced.

“You can’t do that!” Eddie half-shouted, half-laughed. Which launched the entire group into arguing the rules of the game for the rest of the night.
