Summary
Tony Stark is a lost cause.
People believed he changed. But he didn’t. He never did. Yes, he’d stopped the weapons business. Yes, he repented for his sins. That doesn’t mean he is good. He may be good, but not really good. Not the way the others are. Tony Stark is a selfish hero. He only saves people to lessen his own guilt.
No, he had not changed. He had simply snapped. Snapped. His life in exchange for millions of lives. It was a solid deal. Only he didn’t die, so he was left to simply continue existing in a ruined body and ruined mind until he slowly descended into a cesspit of trauma, nightmares, substances, and solitude.
But people always do believe what they want to believe.
And so Tony Stark is resigned. Resigned to all the gossip, all the struggle, all the tidings of the world. He quietly awaits death, all the fire in him long but gone.
Then he finds himself in charge of a kid.
Two kids, actually. Two kids that drag him back into the light kicking and screaming. Two kids that he has to co-parent with Steve Rogers of all people.
A story of a found family, sobriety and mistakes, pining and confessing, lots of crying, and a bit of cuddling.
