Infirmary

Summary:

He pulled Lukas closer to him as he leaned his back against the wall. Surprisingly he pulled Lukas fully onto him. It was the first time Kavar initiated contact. His scent was just as he remembered and it calmed him. Lukas rubbed his cheek against the soft tunic of Kavar's chest.

"If you died," murmured Kavar in a low pained voice, "I would have never forgiven myself for not sticking by your side. My biggest regret was not following you when you left the temple. Please don't leave me behind Lukas."

Work Text:

...

Waking up in the infirmary was becoming too comfortable for Lukas. This was the third time in his journey when Atton and Kreia that he woke up in it. He couldn't remember what happened either. His head felt like it was going to explode and his mouth was dry without the taste of kolto. That meant he hadn't needed a submergence into a kolto tank. Thank the Force. He hated having to go through that.

Lukas's eyes opened slowly wincing at the bright light of the infirmary lights. For several seconds he didn't move just allowing himself

Their ship was on a world as he didn't hear the hyperdrive. Where were they? Onderon? No they had left Onderon. Dantooine then it had to be.

He sat up quickly as realization hit him. They were on Dantooine and he went to see the remaining Jedi Masters as promised. Vrook wanted to cut him off from the Force again. And Kavar had stuck up for him alongside Zez-Kai Ell. Lukas had collapsed and was caught by Kavar.

A blush ran up the back of his neck. How had he been so stupid?! To collapse onto Kavar?! The man must think that he was weak. Damn it!

"What's with that blush Lukas?" Came a familiar light hearted laugh that caused him to jump and nearly fall off the infirmary bed.

Once he steadied himself he found Kavar sitting in a chair to his left. In the small room it was almost comical to find someone sitting by his side. A chair alone took up most of the remaining space. He wore a light tunic and brown trousers with his lightsabers hanging from his belt. He was leaning back in the chair giving off a relaxed stance. Despite how it looked Kavar was anything but relaxed. There was an underlying tension in his shoulders that Lukas was eerily familiar with.

Before he could stop himself he asked, "How long was I out?"

Kavar's relaxed posture stiffened and his Force presence darkened. It was such an abrupt change Lukas flinched. What the fuck?

"Three days," he answered suddenly, "You were unconscious for three days. We didn't know if you would ever wake up Lukas."

Three days? Sith spit he never expected to be that exhausted. Then again given his exhaustion and how much they had been pushing themselves maybe he shouldn't have been surprised. The others received breaks in between planets but he was constantly moving. Training with one member of his crew or another. Bao Dur had tried to tell him at one point that he was pushing himself too much. Lukas ignored it.

Maybe he should have listened. He hated worrying those he cared about. And worry they did. He wondered if Kavar left his side at all during the last three days.

"I'm sorry," he said sincerely, "I did not mean to worry, you or anyone else."

Actually he hadn't expected to wake up at all. He was so tired of everything. Maybe it would have been better if he hadn't woken up. It would have made life easier on everyone in general.

Maybe he should have died on that mining station.

From the corner of his eye he caught Kavar's flinch. It was as if he heard Lukas's thoughts. That shouldn't have been possible. They didn't have a bond. Right?

Kavar stood from the chair and moved onto the bed with him. Lukas tried to move away. Fear was eating at him and he was unsure of what the man would do.

He looked up at the Jedi Master through his fringe. Both in the Force and Kavar's face he could see the truth. Kavar did truly regret his actions.

Against he rubbed his cheek against Kavar's tunic.

"We can't change the past," he whispered pressing his face into Kavar's chest, "All we can do is work towards the future."

"That's true," whispered Kavar as he wrapped his arms tightly around Lukas, "I won't make the same mistake again Lukas. I'm here for you and only you."
