Work Text:
Chat Noir ran across the rooftops headed towards the starting point for tonight’s patrol. A stupid grin plastered across his face there was almost nothing that could bring him down tonight. Lila walked into class with bright pink hair. Knowing this was his ticket to escape modeling with the liar for a few weeks. Adrien sent a text message to Nathalie innocently inquiring about the change in Gabriel’s policy about hair dye. Nathalie quickly responded back asking who broke the code, and Adrien replied Lila saying she walked into class with pink hair. Nathalie thanked Adrien for the information and would be discussing Lila’s contract with her over this but he should be prepared that any duo shoots will have a different model taking Lila’s place for the time being.
As the meeting spot came into view, he noticed that Ladybug seemed incredibly energetic tonight. He found that to be a rare sight to see ever since she became Guardian. Landing a few feet away from his partner, Chat Noir placed his hands behind his head and spoke up. “Somethings got you in a really good mood Buginette. Can you share with the class tonight?”
Ladybug ceased her happy dance as she turned around to face Chat Noir a goofy grin on her face. “Yeah I think I can.” She knew that her actions today were not ‘Ladybug worthy’ however, after everything she’s endured so far because of Lila she couldn’t find the effort to care today. She knew the story was a bit long, so she walked over to the edge of the roof and sat down before patting the concrete right next to her.
Seeing Ladybug’s invitation Chat Noir took the offered seat his interest growing with each passing moment. “Seems like a long one if you want to sit down for it.”
“So, it started when this girl I know in my civilian life somehow managed to switch my shampoo out for a tampered bottle. I don’t know how she pulled it off, but if Tikki didn’t distract me in the shower a couple of days ago then I would be walking around with blond hair right now.” Ladybug explained shaking her head. “So… there are only two people who I know in my civilian life who might try something like that. However, one of them hasn’t done anything this extreme in months. Meaning I assumed it was the other one, especially when she oh so innocently asked me if I had showered that morning.”
“That screams like someone is up to no good.” Chat Noir agreed noting that this story sounded awfully familiar to what happened in class a few days ago. However, he brushed it off remembering that there are over 600,000 students at any given time. This scenario could have easily happened in any school across the city.
“She’s usually not. Especially when it comes to making my civilian life miserable.” Ladybug continued before glancing back to Chat Noir. She felt him tense after her last sentence. A small smile came onto her lips as she placed a comforting hand on his thigh. “I’m alright kitty.”
“LB…” Chat Noir trailed off taking her hand and squeezing it tightly and making direct eye contact with her. “Be honest… are you?” He knew her tendency to say she’s fine when everything isn’t. He’s seen it enough times that he’s always skeptical of the words ‘I’m fine’ or ‘I’m alright’ whenever they come out of her mouth.
“For right now? Yes. There’s someone in my civilian life who’s supporting me most of the time. His life just makes it hard for him to always be there.” She thought of Adrien checking up on her after Lila tries to pull something in class.
“I call dibs on using the C-word on her if that ever changes.” Chat Noir threatened, his tail lashing in agitation. After everything Ladybug has done for this city, being bullied in her civilian life is unacceptable. He wanted to find whoever was causing his lady so much pain, but he felt her squeeze his hand. Taking a deep breath in he slowly exhaled. “You just do so much for this city and asking for nothing in return… that hearing you get bullied in your civilian life hurts me so much.”
“I promise that I’ll let you know if it ever escalates too far for us to handle.” She let go of his hand and hugged him. They stayed like that way for a couple of minutes before breaking apart. “Now where was I?” Tapping a finger to her chin, she remembered where she was in her story. “Right! So once I realized what she was playing at, I decided to get a little payback. I know it’s not the most heroic thing but it’s been months since she singled me out. I figured it was time to give her a taste of her own medicine. So I Stopped by her house and gave her mom an expensive luxury shampoo and conditioner set that had some hair dye mixed in…
Needless to say, she looked furious when she spotted me in class this morning. Everyone else fawned over how good she looked and thought it was intentional. I just quietly laughed to myself.” Ladybug finished with the biggest grin on her face.
“You devious little bug. How long until the color fades?”
“Few weeks give or take. But with the mischievous glint in Tikki’s eyes as I was preparing the shampoo and conditioner… I have a feeling it might be a little longer.”
“That’s great. Oh I wish I could have seen her face.” Chat Noir giggled before getting up from the ledge. Offering a hand to Ladybug he jerked his head to the side, “wanna get to pawtrol now? Or find someplace to get a bite to eat?”
“Let’s eat, I’m hungry.”
