Luz didn't expect Amity to be more than just another casual fling when they first met, but when Amity kept calling her to talk about their future together, she knew she'd gotten herself into more than she was ready to handle. Despite living all the way across town, Amity was searching for that someone, and Luz just so happened to have been out on the prowl when they met.
When Luz finally broke the news to her, that she wasn't looking for something serious, Amity was left heartbroken and sat around feeling sorry for herself. Her friends were telling her not to get lonely and to dry her whining eyes, but Amity couldn't get over Luz, who was roaming for the moment and sleazing her backyard. She'd called Amity an "uptight loser" when they broke up, and now Amity was really thinking about just ditching her and moving on.
Luz had heard it all before. People called her a loser and a user, but she didn't need an accuser to slag her down, because she knew they were right. She thought of the purple-haired girl who'd tried to get her into a committed relationship, scoffing as she remembered Amity telling her to just go do what she wanted, but not to do something she'd regret. She wondered if her self-doubt, about her talent as a guitarist and attractiveness as a lover, really meant nothing was there in their relationship. She realized she truly did love Amity, and she couldn't keep forcing something if it just wasn't right.
Amity had no time to search the world around before Luz called her to meet up. She didn't even have to tell her where to go, because Amity knew where Luz would be found when she came around.
