Work Text:
Ximena Talis knows what magic can do. Magic saved her life—though not her fingers. She doesn’t remember it the way Jayce does—she was too far gone already. Blue light, weightlessness, warmth—at the time she thought she was dying and fear for her son overwhelmed her mind.
It’s not that she doesn’t believe in her son—what kind of mother..?—but…
…she believes in science and hard work first and foremost. Jayce does both but if he can’t stick to it she would rather he just kept collecting pretty rocks as a hobby (and metallurgy as a job?)
