Work Text:

The set is abuzz with energy as the crew prepares for the filming of the GQ couple’s quiz, featuring the renowned journalists Laura Peterson and Bradley Jackson. The UBA network had convinced two of their best anchors to take part in the lighthearted segment in order to promote their shows and the network. Laura Peterson was more than happy to come back to UBA 365 after a couple years of anchoring YDA on a rival network. It was a great opportunity to get back to the network that launched her career and also more time for a certain UBA evening news anchor.

Laura Peterson sits on a tall director’s chair and checks over her emails on her phone as the on-set makeup and hair artists touch up her face before the cameras start rolling. As she reads through her emails a text message bubble pops up on top of her screen….from Cory Ellison.
She reads through the message and instantly rolls her eyes.

“Uh-oh.”

Laura looks up from her phone and finds her grinning fiancé walking towards her dressed in skinny black jeans, a white tank top, complete with suit jacket. Skinny jeans…Laura’s weakness on her soon to be wife.

“Let me guess…..your mother texted you.” Bradley chirps as she takes a seat on the other director’s chair next to the other woman’s.

“Cory.” Laura grumbles under her breath as she shakes her head. “He wants me to fill in for TMS on Friday…thinks this GQ segment will offer a boost for the show.”

Bradley hears this but then her face turns quickly…to insult. “Hey, why didn’t he ask me to fill in?”

Laura snorts under her breath and shakes her head for the second time. “We both know the answer to that.”

“He’s a man child.” Bradley chirps under her breath as another set of makeup and hair artists touch up her face. “He’s been acting like I kicked his dog ever since I accepted your proposal.”

“Yea…why’d you do that?” Laura teases sarcastically with a playful grin.

Bradley squints back at the amused woman and chuckles as they finish up her face. “You think you’re really funny Peterson…real funny.”

“I am funny….don’t forget that during the quiz.” Laura quips with a sly grin on her face.

Bradley leans in, her voice dripping with mock seriousness. “I’m going to ace this quiz.”

“Is that so?” Laura husks back as she also leans closer.

Bradley nods her head before biting her bottom lip. “I’ve been studying you for quite a while.”

“I guess we’ll see.” Laura flirts back as she can see movement intensify on set.

As the production cue starts counting them off, Laura and Bradley settle back in their chairs as one of the set producers hands Bradley the question cards first. Soon their focus shifts to the monitors in front of them and the cameras start rolling.

“Alright, in 5…4…3…2…” A voice from behind the camera counts them down as the red light of the cameras blink to life.

Laura leans in with sparkling eyes and addresses the viewers. “Hi everybody, I’m Laura Peterson.”

Bradley follows next with her signature charming smile. “And I’m Bradley Jackson.”

“And this is the GQ Couple’s Quiz.” Laura continues as she waves her hand around for her fiancé to get the ball rolling.

“I will be asking the first questions.” Bradley announces into the camera before turning to Laura with a twinkle of mischief in her eyes. “And I think you’re gonna be better at this than me.”

Laura chuckles and nods her head once. “That is a very real possibility.”

“Okay….we’ll start with an easy one.” Bradley starts and she straightens her blazer jacket.

Laura smiles and bites her bottom lip. “I’m ready.”

Bradley reads off the first question from the first card. “What’s my middle name?”

Laura doesn’t miss a beat. “Grace.”

“Correct.” Bradley says with a smile as she moves the card to the back of the pile before squinting her eyes at the woman next to her. “If you didn’t know that one we were gonna have some problems.”

“Bradley Grace.” Laura repeats with a teasing glint.

“One point.” Bradley says smiling lightly before going on to ask the second question. “Where was our first date?”

“Ooooh.” Laura hums as she squints her eyes trying to remember correctly. “Like our first official date?”

“First official date.” Bradley confirms with a nod of her head.

“It was uhh…it was Studio 151 over in the East Village.” Laura answers.

“The salmon avocado…so good.” Bradley says as she thinks back at the place before nodding her head to Laura. “That was our first official New York date.”

Laura nods her head and waves her hands around. “That was like…back to real life…in our normal routines.”

“Bonus question…what would I consider our first date?” Bradley asks as she points the cards at the brunette in front of her.

“Either the coffee interview we did walking along the Des Moines River or the late night drink we shared at the Des Lux Bar.” Laura answers as she bites lightly down on her bottom lip.

“Correct…on all three questions.” Bradley says as she grins affectionately at Laura as she flips to the next card. “Three points….good job Babe.”

Laura smiles with a nod of her head. “Thank you.”

“What am I most scared of?” Bradley asks as she reads off the third question.

Laura pauses…her brow furrowing in concentration. “Spiders?”

“Spiders! Spiders?!” Bradley exclaims as she zeroes in on her fiancé wondering where she came up with that answer.

“You hate spiders!” Laura quips back loudly.

“I don’t like spiders…but I’m not scared of spiders.” Bradley corrects gently as she shakes her head amused.

Laura resists the urge to roll her eyes and lifts up her hand. “Alright Bradley Jackson, what’s the answer?”

“Carnival rides.” Bradley chirps easily.

“What?” Laura asks confused through her snickers. “Like bumper cars and the merry go round?”

Bradley just shakes her head and waves her hand. “No…like high…sketchy rides!”

The light bulb goes off in Laura’s head and she covers her face with her hand. “That’s right…I did know that.”

“When I was twelve, I was on a Ferris wheel at the Jefferson County Fair and I saw two loose screws!!” Bradley exclaims as she shutters at the memory. “I totally freaked out…never again.”

Laura sighs amused. “Okay honey, I’ll keep that in mind when we start thinking about honeymoon destinations.”

“Thank you.” Bradley says with a slight laugh under her breath until she scrunches her nose at her fiancé. “Unfortunately, no points on that one babe.”

“Yea, yea.” Laura mutters under her breath as she smoothes out her copper short sleeved blouse with her finger tips…waiting for the next question.

“Oh boy….” Bradley sighs playfully through a subtle smirk as she reads through the next question asking the woman next to her. “Between you and me, who’s the better news anchor?”

“Oooooh.” Laura drawls with a grin as she taps her fingers tips together. “Danger zone.”

“Yea, come on GQ.” Bradley snips as she runs her fingers through her blonde locks. “I’d at least like to get this woman to the altar.”

Laura laughs at the woman’s comment before pointing at the blonde. “I can confidently say you.”

“Babe.” Bradley swoons…incredibly touched at the answer.

Laura smiles back and shrugs her shoulders. “I’m gonna give it to you.”

The two women find themselves in a moment of quiet stillness as their eyes lock. In two seconds, the depth of their bond flows easily between them. Bradley gives Laura a smile only meant for her before reading off the next question.

“What’s our favorite show to watch together?” Bradley asks.

Laura chuckles out loud before squinting her eyes back at the other woman. “Am I telling the truth here…with witnesses?”

Bradley lets out a hearty laugh and nods her head. “Absolutely.”

“Below Deck Mediterranean.” Laura grumbles…as she gazes down on the floor.

Bradley still laughing raises her eyebrows up and down at the camera. “Laura gives off major chief stew energy…if anybody is wondering.”

Laura’s head snaps up with her mouth agape. “Cute…real cute.”

“What about scripted TV show…we watch together?” Bradley asks.

Laura clicks her tongue against her cheek. “That would be Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.”

“Only one season...NBC had a complete gem that they cancelled after one season.” Bradley stammers on as she shakes her head in disgust. “That’s the one that got away…for sure.”

Laura snickers and scrunches her nose back at Bradley. “We probably should have said something from UBA, huh.”

Bradley just snorts under her breath before looking directly to the camera. “We like what we like…sorry Cory.”

Laura’s eye brows shoot up as she bites her bottom to keep from laughing. She continues to try to suppress her soft chuckles as she thinks about the two strong-willed individuals that have started to really butt heads over the past two years. If Cory Ellison thought Alex Levy was going to go toe to toe with him, he clearly underestimated Bradley Jackson.

“Alright, next question.” Bradley says as she clears her throat and flips to a new card. “How do you know when I’m anxious?”

Laura exhales a breath and looks up at the ceiling as she thinks over her answer. “You go pretty still when your anxious…your movements less considerably except your eyes. When you’re anxious your eyes don’t stop moving.”

Bradley’s heart swells with affection. “100%”

Laura nods and her gaze turns tender as she moves her hand towards Bradley’s knee. “So I usually will like sit sort of close to you and softly put my hand on your knee or I’ll gently put my arm around you…so…”

Bradley’s bottom lip sticks out….incredibly touched at Laura’s answer. “You get 10 points...for being so cute.”

“Really?” Laura says amused with a tender gaze.

“No.” Bradley quips back as she holds up two fingers. “But I’ll give you two points.”

“Awesome.” Laura quips back.

“You are…for sure.” Bradley agrees as she goes to the next question. “Ooooh…you’re not going to get this one.”

“What is it?” Laura chirps.

“When is ‘Bradley Jackson Day’ in Huntington, West Virginia?” Bradley asks as she reads off the card before looking up at a stumped Laura Peterson.

“God.” Laura mumbles under her breath before tilting her head at her fiancé. “Do you know this?”

“No idea.” Bradley chuckles as he shakes his head before looking to the crew behind the cameras. “Do you guys know?”

“Yes.”

“What is it?” Laura asks the production crew.

“September 24th.”

“September 24th.” Bradley repeats as she flips to the next card. “You should have known that one Peterson.”

“I think you should have to go negative with your points because you didn’t even know.” Laura chirps back amused.

Bradley sighs and squints her eyes before waving her hand down. “And we’re moving on…what is my biggest pet peeve?”

Laura pauses and thinks about the possible answer before raising an eyebrow to her fiancé. “Do I know this one?”

“You should.” Bradley drawls as she lets out a sigh. “It has to do with something I’m not very good at.”

“Sudoku puzzles.” Laura chirps back instantly.

Bradley rolls her eyes and shakes her head. “Think…of our professional environments…”

Laura till confused thinks about it before the light bulb goes off in her head and she snaps her fingers together. “The greeting thing TV personalities do?”

“There you go.” Bradley sings as she shakes her head and goes to the next card.

Laura chuckles to herself softly before looking to the camera. “So...when anchors or TV personalities greet each other it’s very over the top--”

“It’s like a mixture of your grandma’s phone voice and the best waitress at Applebee’s.” Bradley quips resulting in a roll of laughter from the brunette next to her.

Laura sucks in a quick breath through clenched teeth before tilting her head back and forth “It can all come off a bit fake.”

“Can?!” Bradley laughs loudly.

“My beautiful fiancé hasn’t mastered the voice yet.” Laura chirps to the camera.

Bradley nods her head in agreement. “And probably never will…which is why my boss doesn’t invite me to work parties to schmooze the ad executives anymore.”

“Okay….” Laura giggles nervously before giving her fiancé a look to urge her to not cross any sort of lines with her boss. “I’m on a role…how many points did I get?”

“Okay, okay.” Bradley says with a small smirk. “2 points.”

“Perfect….alright honey, hit me with the next question.” Laura says as she waves her hand around.

Bradley just nods her head and takes a look at the next question. They are partners, not only in their person lives…but also professional lives. Bradley knows that Laura will do anything to make sure that Bradley doesn’t do anything too aggressive to piss of the network too much…without censoring her fiery spirit.

“What’s my favorite movie of all time?” Bradley asks Laura.

“Do you have a favorite movie of all time?” Laura questions through a wide smile. “I know you used to tape old news reports and watch them over and over again.”

“This is true…I absolutely did that…heck, I still do that.’ Bradley tells the camera before looking back to the woman sitting at her side. “But I do think I have a favorite movie of all time.”

“Overboard?” Laura guesses hesitantly.

“Yes! Good job my love!” Bradley exclaims out. “One point!”

Laura shakes her head and huffs under her breath. “Close one.”

Bradley laughs amused before reading off the next question. “How do you know when I’m mad at you?”

“Well…honey, you usually just tell me.” Laura says as she shakes her head at the now giggling Bradley who has covered her face with the question cards.

The blonde news anchor sighs and lowers the card. “Fair.”

“I actually appreciate that about you at this point in our relationship…you were kind of a question mark when we first started dating.” Laura continues on with a loving smile.

“That’s…also fair.” Bradley drawls through a sigh as she once again covers her face with the cards. “Two points.”

As they approach Bradley’s final questions for Laura, the blonde can’t help but feel a surge of warmth for the woman sitting beside her. She can’t help but feel butterflies in her stomach with every question Laura gets right about her. Bradley never thought she would be with somebody who got to know her on such a deep level…or any level at all. God…she loves Laura Peterson.

“Oooohh, what’s the first meal I ever cooked for you?” Bradley asks as she flicks her fingers down on the card.

Laura’s eyes go wide when she realizes she doesn’t have a clue at what it was. “Umm….”

“Uh-oh.” Bradley chuckles under her breath.

“No…not uh-oh.” Laura retorts as she holds up her finger to signal to Bradley to give her a second to think about the answer. “It wasn’t my favorite food?”

“It was not.” Bradley says with a small smile. “Though god love you for thinking I could have made you chicken and mushroom fricassee.”

Laura bites her bottom lip as she tries to think back on that time. “Was this at my place?”

Bradley just nods her head. “Well, I was living at of a hotel at the time…so.”

“Right.” Laura smiles as she pauses and squints her eyes before letting out her best guess of the first meal the woman made for her when they started dating.

“Well…..” Bradley hums.

“Damn.” Laura chirps through a long breath.

Bradley gives the camera a glance before tilting her head at Laura. “It was that creamy Cajun pasta dish with the sautéed celery.”

“Ahh…your grandmother’s recipe.” Laura sighs with closed eyes…beating herself up slightly for not remembering that. It was actually very good…not that she was surprised. Who’s kidding who…she was a bit surprised.

Laura looks over as Bradley arrives at the final card for her portion of the quiz.

“Wow…okay.” Bradley’s gaze softens as she warmly reads the final question. “Umm…what do I like most about you?”

Laura instantly gets chocked up as her emotions get the better of her at the honest and raw question. She takes a long breath and gives her fiancé a soft smile before biting her lip to keep her eyes from watering. “Wow…I didn’t expect to get sort of emotional during this thing.”

“Babe…” Bradley drawls through loving sigh touched that the questing is having this effect on her future wife.

Laura takes a steadying breath and inhales a long breath before swallowing the lump in her throat. “I think you like that I’m a good listener and I’m loyal….”

“Mmmm.” Bradley hums in agreement as she continues to look at the other woman with love in her eyes.

Laura sighs and looks up at the ceiling before slightly dabbing at her eyes. “And umm, my ability to be assertive but also…compassionate.”

“Well…you get all the points.” Bradley says as she scrunches her nose and tilts her head.

Laura glances and sees the look on Bradley’s face before dabbing at her eyes and motioning for them to keep going with her hand. “Alright, let’s move on…let’s keep the train moving.”

“Well sweetheart, you get two points and all of my love for that answer.” Bradley says with a bright smile before turning to face the camera. “Okay, so…Laura received 16 points.”

“No it’s my turn.” Laura says with a smirk as she turns to Bradley. “Ready?”

“I’m very nervous…but let’s proceed.” Bradley says through a warm chuckle.

“And cut….” The director from behind the camera says as the camera’s blink off. “Alright, let’s get Laura her cards and get ready to start the second part of the quiz. We’ll start at Laura reading her first question for Bradley.”

The makeup and hair artists on set quickly step up to the stage to help touch up both women’s faces before the cameras start rolling again. Laura Peterson and Bradley Jackson exchange a playful glance, eager for their roles to reverse.

“Please make sure to touch up my mascara…I can’t believe I started tearing up.” Laura says kindly to the artists working who quickly dab under her eyes.

Bradley peaks her head around the crew to get a better glance at her future wife. “I thought it was extremely touching.”

“Yea?” Laura questions with a soft grumble.

Bradley nods her head with a sweet smile before straightening up in her chair. “So much so, that I plan on doing a different kind of touching when we get home.”

Laura practically chokes on her tongue and she sheepishly looks at the make-up artist who is now grinning at her. “You didn’t hear that.”

“Hear what?” she replies cheekily as she finishes up dabbing Laura’s cheek before retreating off the stage with the hair stylists.

Laura clears her throat and runs her hand down her dress shirt before a member of production hands her the question cards. “Thank you.”

The crew finishes preparing for the next segment and everybody takes their spots behind the cameras. The director gives both women a final nod before giving everybody the countdown.

“Alright, in 5…4…3…2…” The same voice from before counts them down as the red light of the cameras blink to life.

With a sly grin, Laura looks at the first question on the card…with her eyes twinkling brightly as she glances up at Bradley. “Alright, Jackson, let’s get started…where did I grow up?”

Bradley leans back, a thoughtful expression on her face. “You were born in Pittsburgh and moved out west when you were twelve.”

“What city?” Laura asks with a raised eyebrow.

“Portland, Oregon.” Bradley says with a nod of her head.

Laura’s eyes light up and she clicks her tongue against her cheek. “You got it…nice job honey.”

“Wooo...” Bradley sighs out in relief as she runs her hand down her blazer.

“Favorite color?” Laura asks.

“Black…easy.” Bradley quips simply.

“Correct…one point.” Lara says as she flips to the third card…there is instantly a hint of anticipation in her eyes, wondering if her future wife will know this one. “When and what was my television debut?”

“Locally or nationally?” Bradley questions with her fingers tapped together.

Laura thinks about it before tilting her head. “Both?”

“Well, your local debut was Good Morning Seattle where you subbed for their morning news anchor.” Bradley starts to say before pursing her lips together in thought. “Your national debut was on The Morning Show as a field reporter.”

“Yes.” Laura smiles.

Bradley nods her head and continues. “It was 1996 and you were doing a story on the NBA lockout.”

“Yes.” Laura repeats.

“In Boston…Rick Fox walked right into you.” Bradley stammers on.

“Yes.” Laura repeats for the third time…slightly stunned.

Bradley then looks to the camera. “He crushed her pinky toe.”

“I crushed my pinky toe…it throbbed for days.” Laura says also in to the camera before turning back to Bradley with a proud look on her face. “Wow, I’m impressed.”

“Thank you.” Bradley drawls…feeling very proud of herself.

“One point.” Laura says as she flips to the next card.

Bradley’s mouth drops at the insult amount. “One point?!”

“What’s my favorite form of self-care?” Laura says with a playful grin.

The blonde chuckles under her breath before raising and eyebrow. “Now…am I being honest?”

“Go for it babe.” Laura chirps back.

Bradley just laughs to herself and taps her nose cutely. “Laura…likes a warm bath and a nice glass of whiskey.”

Laura nods her head to show the woman is correct. “The bath should include a few drops of peppermint and the whiskey should include a double.”

“Macallan 15.” Bradley says…stating the woman’s favorite single malt. “From the highlands!”

“Nice job honey….one point.” Laura says before looking to the next question and letting out a hum as she clears her throat. “Oh, this is interesting. Who am I closest with, besides you?”

Bradley’s gaze softens, a genuine smile playing on her lips. “Well…you have your best friends in the city, that you’ve known for 30 years.”

“Yea, yea.” Laura says with a smile as she locks her eyes on Bradley’s.

“Of course…your family.” Bradley guesses as she points her hand at her love. “Umm…your cousin Amy….who is like a sister to you.”

“Definitely.” Laura agrees before pressing on. “So...final answer?”

“God…I’d have to go with a tie, honestly.” Bradley says through a long breath. “What would you say?”

“I think Amy and my…my friends.” Laura says as she thinks about her answer carefully before nodding her head. “Yea, that’s the answer.”

“Nice.” Bradley quips in victory.

“I’m going to give you two points.” Laura says as she flips to the next card. “Next question….what food will I absolutely never eat?”

Bradley snorts under her breath. “Barbeque sauce.”

“Gross.” Laura grunts as she shudders in disgust. “Correct.”

Bradley sighs and blinks her eyes. “It’s a little weird…and I never can take you home to the south, but…it is what it is.”

“It’s too dark of a sauce…and people sneak the weirdest ingredients in.” Laura hisses back.

“I know.” Bradley soothes with an amused nod of her head. “We’ve actually had this exact conversation multiple times.”

Laura snickers herself before she flips to the next question. The woman reads the question and then playfully raises an eyebrow at the blonde. “How do you know when I’m mad at you?”

Bradley’s brow furrows in concentration as she sighs and glances up at the ceiling. “You get pretty quiet…and uhh…tend to avoid any sort of eye contact.”

Laura sucks in a quick breath through her clenched teeth. “I still do that?”

Bradley tilts her head back and forth. “It doesn’t happen very often…but when it does…I know I’m in trouble.”

“That’s fair.” Laura sighs as she flips to the next card...with a smirk now on her face. “Who made the first move?

Bradley’s mouth drops open before she sighs and nestles down in her chair. “That was me.”

“It sure was.” Laura hums under her breath before she looks affectionately over to Bradley.

Bradley smiles back and bites at her bottom lip before gazing back at the camera. “We were riding in the back of a car together, just talking, when I pulled her head in and planted one on her.”

“She certainly did.” Laura hums once more fondly as she goes to the next question. “What’s our song?”

Bradley opens her mouth to answer…but nothing comes out. It only takes a second for her eyes to go wide. Laura notices this and her brow immediately furrows.

“Do you not know this?” Laura chirps…surprised that the answer isn’t just falling out of Bradley’s mouth.

The blonde sighs and slowly shakes her head…not knowing the answer. “I’m totally blanking…do we have a song?”

“We have a song.” Laura answers with a nod.

“Shit.” Bradley blurts out realizing she just slipped in the interview. “Woops…sorry y’all.”

“No worries....we can blurt it out.”

“Can I get a hint?” Bradley asks to Laura before waving her hand down as she changes her mind quickly. “Wait! Don’t tell me…”

Laura thoroughly amused pretends to look at an invisible watch on her wrist. “Babe...we’ve both got to be on the air in 7 hours...so…”

Bradley getting frustrated that her mind is completely going blank taps her hands down on her thighs. “Oh come on….shit.”

“Seriously.” Laura quips surprised before shaking her head amused. “Pretty soon we’re going to have Two Shits Jackson.”

“I’m sorry!” Bradley exclaims as she covers her forehead with her hands…still trying to figure out what their song is. She takes about five more seconds before gasping in defeat. “I have no idea.”

“It’s ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis.” Laura answers confidently.

“Laura.” Bradley deadpans with her eyes closed. “That…is not our song!”

“Yes it is!” Laura quips back.

Bradley just chuckles and gives her fiancé a questioning look. “How?”

“It was playing in the background on the radio or something at the ranch the first time we said I love you.” Laura answers with soft eyes and her voice filled with warmth.

Bradley hears this and sticks out her bottom lip before she exhales a long breath. “Crap…you’re right. Damn it.”

“Zero points.” Laura whispers carefully as her nose scrunches on her face. “What is my dream travel destination or vacation?”

“Easy….Montana.” Bradley answers quickly with a nod of her head.

Laura smiles and snaps her fingers. “Absolutely…easy one.”

Bradley laughs and turns to the camera. “Laura Peterson would choose her slippers in front of our big fire place over a 5 star hotel on any tropical island….any day.”

“100%.” Laura says as she flips to the next question card. “What am I most scared of?”

Bradley thinks about the answer as she once again taps her fingers on her thighs. “I think you are scared of…missed opportunities. You want to make sure that you take advantage of every possibility that is presented to you…no regrets.”

The answer catches Laura completely off guard. “Yea…that’s true.”

“Wow…you went deep on that one.” Laura quips to her future wife.

“I did…I did.” Bradley agrees.

Laura smirks back before clicking her tongue against her cheek. “But…I’d have to say jellyfish.”

Bradley rolls her eyes before throwing her head back. “Come on!”

“Zero points…but very astute answer honey.” Laura says as she again shuffles to the next question card.

“Your competitive side is showing Peterson.” Bradley mumbles under her breath as she straightens her jacket.

“You are the one that breaks up with me every time we play Trivial Pursuit!” Laura bites back through a wide grin.

Bradley rolls her eyes for the second time. “Well…you hide little pie pieces in your sleeves and slip them in when I’m not looking.”

Laura breaks out in a loud laugh and shakes her head before turning to face the camera. “Don’t listen to her everybody…I would never treat the game with such disrespect.”

“Don’t listen to her everybody…” Bradley repeats as she continues to tease the woman next to her. “She memorizes the question cards when I’m not there.

Laura simply snorts under her breath and looks to the final question and smiles gently. “What do I like most about you?”

Bradley hearing the question inhales a long breath through her nose before rubbing her hands up and down her thighs. “Ooooh….this question does hit all the feels.”

Laura’s hear swells with love when she can see the wheels turning behind Bradley’s eyes. She immediately notices the crinkle developing on Bradley’s forehead…a clear sign that she is thinking hard over the question at hand.

“Ummm…looks like I’m going to get another one wrong.” Bradley says through a strangled chuckle as she fidgets slightly in her seat.

“Hey…..” Laura whispers in order to get her love’s attention before giving her a grin. “You know this.”

Bradley looks into Laura’s eyes, her gaze feeling like a warm beacon of light. The question hangs in the air for a moment more, carrying the weight of sincerity and vulnerability.

She takes a deep breath before waving her hands up. “You like...that I have the ability to be raw and honest with my words.”

“I do.” Laura says softly as she dips her head…urging her to continue.

Bradley takes one more second to gather her thoughts as a small glint of mist can be seen under her eyes. “And…I think you like that I fight for what I believe in…or I try to, at least.”

“Definitely.” Laura husks under her breath…as her heart swells. “Now you get all the points.”

Bradley smiles back and runs her fingers through her blonde locks. “Perfect.”

“Okay….Bradley’s final points total is….” Laura starts to say before raising her eye brows up and down in the blonde’s direction. “11 points…..11?!”

Bradley scoffs. “The point system is rigged.”

Laura snickers under her breath before leaning closer to Bradley. “You okay Jackson?”

“Yes.” Bradley mumbles.

“Are we still getting married?” Laura quips quickly after.

Bradley pretends to think about it with a serious look on her face before gasping a long breath. “I suppose…we did already put a deposit down on the venue.”

“I’ll take both wins.” Laura laughs back before facing the camera. “Thanks for watching...this has been GQ Couple’s Quiz.”

“Maybe, we should play another round….double or nothing.” Bradley says.

Laura instantly shakes her head. “Not a chance babe, let me enjoy the win.”

“Fine.” Bradley grumbles playfully as she faces the camera and waves her hand goodbye to the audience. “But only because you are brilliant and…incredibly hot.”

Laura gets out another loud laugh as the director waves his arm down. “And cut…nice job everybody!”

The two women both let out sighs of relief as all the cameras blink off on set. The interview involving the two professionals went off without a hitch. As the production team bustles around, Bradley can’t help but steal a glance at Laura who is now looking at her new emails on her phone. Her heart swells with wonder as she marvels at how the two women were brought together all those years ago. How did she get so lucky to share life with this incredible woman?

Laura, sensing her gaze, turns to her as a smile graces her lips. Her eyes instantly twinkle with affection. “What?”

Without a word, Bradley gets up from her seat and steps towards Laura. The blonde positions herself in between Laura’s legs and places her hands down on the brunette’s shoulders. Bradley looks into those soulful eyes and tilts her head…a sense of belong washes over her. They have come a long way since they first met; the couple’s quiz breathing proof of that. The complexities and demands of their professional and personal lives have only made them stronger.

“That was fun.” Bradley says.

Laura nods her head in agreement as she runs her hands up and down her fiancé’s hips. “It was.”

“Maybe we should do a rematch couple’s quiz in a few years or so…” Bradley suggests as she bites her bottom lip. “We can do it on our 5th wedding anniversary.”

“The only thing that would make me happier than doing this quiz with my fiancé…is doing this quiz with my wife.” Laura husks back as she leans closer to Bradley’s face.

Their lips meet in a sweet kiss…an unspoken affirmation of the love they share. As they pull away, both women share a silent promise to continue their journey together.

“Hey honey.” Laura whispers…her eyes still on Bradley’s lips.

“Yea?” Bradley sighs.

“I’m gonna win the next one too.” Laura teases playfully.

Bradley instantly rolls her eyes and throws her head back dramatically as Laura wraps her arms tightly around the woman’s waist. The blonde still laughing grabs Laura’s face with her hands and leans for another kiss. “You wish!”

And just like that….everybody else disappears. They’re the only two in the room.
