Chapter Text
Search… the lost pa…dise…
While the sky burns in an angered red
Don’t fall for their deceit, dear Prince
Else the Kingdom’s reign will end
Seek a path from the moon’s oracles
And the Kingdom will soon be saved
A prophecy that was given to everyone in their dreams while they were asleep, but the first line was nothing but a soft whisper that most of the people didn’t understand. They awoke to the cries of people because their non-existent skies had turned red. Sharp cubes clustered like a worm covers their entire Kingdom. No more darkness, but an angered red sky just like in the prophecy.
The Prince of Khaenri’ah was called inside the throne and so he arrived, kneeling down on one knee in front of the King, his father.
“Father.” The Prince, Kaeya Alberich, greeted.
The King nodded and told him to stand. He followed and met the man’s anxious gaze.
“This is about the prophecy isn’t it, Father?” Kaeya asked and his father nodded. “The fall of Khaenri’ah… I can’t even imagine it.”
“And we can’t allow that to happen.” he heard the King saying and he responded with a nod, agreeing with his father. “That is why… we must follow the rest of the prophecy. Kaeya Alberich, you must meet the Moon’s Oracles. I have arranged some horses and guards to accompany you to the Eclipse Temple. Seek for their guides and beware of anyone’s deceitful nature.”
Kaeya nodded once again, “How do we know who to trust? Who does the prophecy talk about?”
“The dark moon oracle… It is written in our history how dangerous their powers are. I have a hunch that this oracle might sway you to the wrong path once they present their guidance. Think carefully of who you want to follow, Kaeya.” the King told him with sharpness in his voice.
Kaeya gulped the lump in his throat, “I will be careful, Father.”
The King nodded, “This is your only chance. You are our last hope.” he told him and Kaeya bowed his head before leaving the throne room with nothing but determination in his eyes.
After his preparations, Kaeya finally headed towards the Eclipse Temple with four knights. Once they arrived in the temple, they headed inside and knelt down in front of a black curtain.
“Greetings, Oracles of the Moon.” Kaeya said.
“Greetings, Prince of Khaenri’ah.” a feminine voice replied.
“We know the purpose of your visit.” a different voice said but this time, it’s from a male.
Then both of the oracles asked him, “You are here to seek for our guidance, correct?”
Kaeya nodded, “Yes. It is to save our Kingdom. We can’t let it fall.” he told them with determination in his voice. The four knights behind him can only look at him with admiration.
They lowered their heads again when they heard a giggle. Soon, they could hear footsteps and now, they can feel two presence standing in front of them.
“Please stand so we can see your faces. We have been staying inside this temple since we were born, you see, so it is rare to see other people.” the feminine voice told them.
Kaeya lifted his face slowly and in front of him, he could see both of the oracles of the moon. They look like twins and their eyes have a star on them, just like the rest of the Khaenri’ahns. He knew in an instant who the dark moon oracle and who the light moon oracle were in a glance. The male oracle whose eyes are ghastly looking is fitting to be the dark moon oracle and the bright smiling female oracle beside him is definitely the light moon oracle. The Queen had told him their names before he left the castle. Aether and Lumine.
As soon as they were all standing, the dark side of the moon spoke first and Kaeya listened to his guidance.
“Follow my guidance and head towards the darkest part of the Abyss. There you shall seek the legendary sword hidden within the Abyss, which is also known as the Twilight Sword. Be his Master and soon this Kingdom will be saved.”
The dark moon oracle, Aether, told Kaeya. Darkness lingers in his gaze but in his words, there’s a hint of sincerity.
He then looked at the other oracle who gave him a friendly smile as soon as their eyes met.
“Follow my guidance and head towards the surface of the world. Traverse the world to seek for the Seven God’s aid. To turn the red skies back to white , and soon this Kingdom will be saved.”
The light moon oracle, Lumine, told Kaeya. Determination and hope lingers in her gaze but in her words, there’s something peculiar in it especially with her bright demeanor.
“Now, which path would you follow, Prince Kaeya?” Both Aether and Lumine asked, extending both of their hands to him.
“I…” He muttered, looking at both oracles with a contemplative eye.
To follow Aether’s path, proceed to the last chapter (Chapter 3) of this story.
To follow Lumine’s path, you can proceed to the next chapter.
