Izuku: Human Daycare

Summary:

Izuku's quirk and people's reactions to it has made him afraid of touch, covering up every inch of skin on him. But now in the dorms, he has to loosen up or else he'll be uncomfortable for the next few years. With more skin showing, accidents are bound to happen... But unlike what he's used to, these end up being happy accidents.

Work Text:

Throughout his life, Izuku has been very careful about contact.

He had learned about his quirk from the doctor before he saw it in action. Apparently when he had skin contact with someone or they used their quirk on him, he'd make… something.

That something turned out to be eggs that turned into creatures. After his mom had hugged him, nothing had happened. But once he woke up the next morning, there was an egg right beside him.

His mom had gotten a brown egg with a light brown furry material around the center. It even had a pink ribbon symbol at the top. They had to wait a week for it to hatch, but when it did it hatched into an odd fluffy creature with brown fur, some light brown fur around its neck.

Bakugou got a black furry egg with red markings on it he didn't understand. It had hatched into a black and red cat that occasionally spit out embers of flame.

Aunt Mitsuki also got one, a light brown furry egg. It hatched into an angry monkey-like creature that likes to fight. It often beat up trees and trash cans when it got bored.

All kids want a pet, so the possibility of getting one that's powerful was appealing to so many of them. That included his classmates, trying to forcefully touch him, then getting angry when they couldn't have the creature. He had to be homeschooled to avoid incidents after too many close calls.

Most of his schoolwork was done online, which was easier for him. He even got to spend his free time talking to people online, getting to share some of his quirk analysis.

With so much online access, he decided to research the creatures his quirk made. He found out they came from a popular a prequirk game series called Pokemon. His quirk isn't the first quirk to take something from prequirk media, so it makes sense at least. He even started playing it himself in his free time.

That's why he ended up renaming his quirk from the boring 'Egg Touch' to 'human Daycare.' In those games, you'd get the eggs from putting the creatures in daycares, so isn't he just the human daycare? Sure, the name confused everyone else, but he knew what it meant, and that's what mattered.

Mom had gotten an Eevee she named Hop. She liked to jump around a lot, often being found asleep on top of the fridge somehow. She evolved into a Sylveon, and now she used ribbons to help her get into even higher spaces. She was once asleep on the ceiling fan somehow.

Bakugou's pokemon was called a Litten, and of course he named her Vic, short for victory. She was a little pyromaniac, liking to knock over and burn things. She's probably evolved since then.

Finally, Aunt Mitsuki's violent monkey was Mankey. She had just named it Bastard. Bastard is clearly a fighter by heart, constantly training. There were news reports about an odd creature beating up criminals, and he will bet money that it's Bastard.

He kept two pokemon he took care of himself, even if they were caused by his old classmates. One was a Riolu he named Mighty (He was six, don't judge him) who constantly stayed by his side, even during the UA Entrance exam. He's the only reason Izuku passed the practical portion.

The other was a Gible he named Botto. Botto had the issue of trying to eat anything she could find. That's why her name was short for Bottomless, because her stomach is clearly bottomless at this point. Izuku had watched her eat an entire bag of sugar in one gulp.

After making all these, he really didn't want to have any more incidents. He stayed inside, worried that leaving his home could easily lead to an accidental touch. He only ever went out when he absolutely had to.

Once he got into UA, the worry about contact stayed strong. His mom got permission from the school for him to wear several extra pieces of clothing to cover every inch of skin, which got him lots of weird looks from his classmates.

Even his hero outfit left none of him exposed, strong enough to never rip in battle. No skin contact and no quirks getting through his clothing kept him from ever activating his quirk. It was a bit more difficult to sleep in an outfit like that during the training camp, but that was only a short bit of time.

When the school changed to dorms, he realized he couldn't keep this up. Constantly wearing so much in the dorms would be practically suffocating. Eventually, he decided to just try wearing a normal amount of clothes.

Izuku sits on the couch in the common room, wearing a T-shirt and sweatpants. He feels a little bit exposed like this, but it's better than being uncomfortable in stuff clothes. He takes the time to make notes about his classmates.

In front of the TV is Mighty, now a Lucario. He's practicing fighting moves, since he figured out how to make the TV replay the battle trials. He at least remembers not to use any of his moves while training like this after the last incident. He really doesn't want to see a couch split in two again.

Momo walks in, glancing at him and Mighty. "Oh! Midorya, did you forget the rest of your outfit?"

He shakes his head. "No, I chose to wear this. I was thinking about how we'll all be living together for the rest of high school, so I should be a bit more comfortable." He closes his notebook as he sits up.

She sits on the couch a bit away from him. "Well I do suppose that outfit looked rather uncomfortable. What are you working on?"

Izuku holds out his notebook. "I was just working on some quirk analysis. It's nothing special, just some basic stuff." He scratches the back of his neck.

Momo leans forward. "Could I see? I'm interested in seeing what you thought up."

He hesitates for a moment before handing it over. "Alright, you can look at it. It's nothing too impressive though." He tries not to laugh as he sees Mighty trip out of the corner of his eye.

She takes it, starting to read through the page on her. She's too distracted by reading to hear Mighty trip. "Oh this is quite impressive!" She turns to him. "I never heard about this study of quirks like mine that create items. Could you send it to me?"

Izuku nods, pulling out his phone. "Sure, it's actually pretty interesting! If it's right, then you could redesign your hero costume…"

The two of them got to talking, sharing studies and discussing theories about different quirks. Izuku was so focused on the conversation that he didn't notice her hand random brushing against his.

The next morning, Izuku comes into the common room with Botto, now a Gabite, following him. "Momo, I've got something for you!"

"Oh, good morning Midorya, what is it-" Momo turns to him, blinking in surprise when she sees what he's holding.

He's holding an egg with both hands before sitting it down on the table. It's about the size of an ostrich egg, and it's pure black, covered in lots of red slash markings.

Kaminari, who's sitting on the couch, tilts his head. "Midoriya, dude, why do you have a weird egg? And why are you mentioning it to Momo- Ow!" Ear jacks stab into his side.

Jirou groans from beside him. "It's probably his quirk!" She pulls her ear jacks back. "I know we haven't seen him use it yet, but don't ask questions when he'll probably explain in a second, idiot."

"Yeah, it's my quirk." Izuku chuckles. "This'll probably be more common as random accidental touches happen, so just know if it happens, I'll give the egg to whoever caused it."

Momo steps towards the egg, rubbing the shell. "Well I do apologize for this. I wonder what'll be in here though."

Izuku shrugs. "I don't know, this one's appearance makes it harder to tell. Just treat it like an actual egg, trying to keep it warm. I'll ask Aizawa-Sensei about getting an incubator area added onto our dorm…"

Kacchan walks in with his Torracat. "About damn time you had another egg. Bet it won't be as strong as Vic here, Ponytail!" He pets Vic, getting a purr in response.

"Be nice, Kacchan." Izuku rolls his eyes. "You've had Vic for 12, of course he'll be stronger."

Momo picks up the egg, holding it gently. "I don't care about power, I'll take care of it. Thank you, Midorya."

Izuku smiles at her. "You're welcome, just take good care of it and I'll be happy. Let me know when it hatches!" He watches her walk off, probably heading to her dorm room.

He turns around as he hears something open, spotting Botto trying to get to the sugar. "Hey! Bad girl, no sugar for you!"

Kacchan snickers. "Ha! You still can't even stop your dumb dragon from eating everything."

"Kacchan…" Izuku turns to Kacchan. "Do I need to tell the class about the Lab incident that got Vic banned from elementary school?"

"...Prick." Kacchan and Vic look away in unison.

Mina walks over. "Ooo, I heard some tea! Come on Izuku, spill it!" She inches closer to him.

"That's what I thought, Kacchan." Izuku walks over to Botto, gesturing for her to follow him as he attempts to escape Mina's pleas for drama.

After that, the eggs continued. When he tripped in the common room and Tsu caught him, she ended up getting a round egg, like an oversized frog egg, in return.

It was a pale blue on the outside, with a black and white spiral visible in the inner portion. The egg felt slimy to the touch, and probably needed water. They had to settle with putting it in an inflatable pool Momo made.

Once he had ended up fistbumping Kirishima after Kirishima won an arm wrestling competition, the redhead ended up with a jagged, rocky egg.

The egg was only a bit smaller than Momo's and it was brown with orange spikes running down the sides. The shell looked like a mix of jagged rocks and scales, and he was ecstatic to have such a 'manly' egg to take care of.

At one point, Iida accidentally chopped Izuku in the top of the head while lecturing the class. Izuku ended up giving him his egg the next day, even if Iida was still apologizing for the previous mistake.

The egg was the size of Momo's, made of pure steel. It has one red line on each side, which feels softer than the rest of the metal. The rest of the steel is just gray metal.

Even Aizawa got one. Once in class Izuku had forgotten his sunglasses, and apparently Aizawa using his quirk on him still makes him make an egg.

This one was once again the size of an ostrich egg. The shell was covered in a brown bark, with bits of grass coming off of it. Ghostly wisps would occasionally flow around it before fading away.

As the eggs kept coming, Aizawa got Cementoss to add on to the dorms. A new room was added next to the common room, the Hatchery. Izuku had helped design it, suggesting that there was a pond for more aquatic eggs, different nests made of different materials, etc.

The Hatchery also had cameras, specially made to notice if an egg was about to hatch. That would've been a pain to get working if it wasn't for the help of Hatsume from the support course.

With how touchy she is, the fact that he ended up having an egg for her shouldn't be surprising. It was made of blue metal with three white spikes at the top. It was about the size of an Emu egg.

She wasn't the other egg from another class either. Shinso from general studies had ended up bumping into Izuku when he was jogging, so later on he had to inform him about the egg.

The egg was the size of an Emu egg. It was brown with some fluffy light brown material around the center. It's the same one his mother had, the only difference is that this one had a red dot on the top of it, instead of a small pink ribbon symbol.

That means it's an Eevee, so maybe the symbols show the evolution it'll have? He can't really be sure yet.

After some time with these eggs, one of them was bound to hatch. And so it did.

Izuku perks up as he hears a beeping from his phone. "Guys! An egg is hatching!" He sprints over to the Hatchery, pulling open the door.

The others crowd in, glancing at all the eggs until everyone focuses on Momo's egg, slowly starting to crack. It's hard to see since it's mostly black, but the noise makes it obvious.

Momo runs over to it, crouching down beside her egg. "Oh, it's hatching! What do I do, do I need to help, should I say something to it, should I-"

Izuku turns to her. "It's alright, calm down! All you need to do is sit and wait. Trying to help might make things worse in the end." He sits in one of the nearby chairs, bouncing his leg.

The egg keeps cracking as Momo sits beside it. The cracks spread until most of the egg is covered in cracks, ready to shatter. A dim light emits from the cracks, starting to get brighter. A blinding flash of light fills the room as a final shattering sound fills the air.

Once the light fades, he can finally see the pokemon. It's a floating sword, one with an eye on the hilt and a sash coming out of the end of the hold, holding onto the intricate sheath.

Unlike the one he usually saw though, this one has a blood red blade with part of the sash colored the same. The eye and the design on the sash are pale purple instead of blue. It's a Honedge, a shiny one.

Momo looks at the pokemon in awe. "It's a… living sword." Her surprise is understandable, a haunted sword is pretty different from the fire cat Kacchan got.

Izuku leans forward. "Well technically a possessed sword, but yes. What do you want to call him?" He pulls out a notebook.

The Honedge floats into her hand, letting her wield it like a sword. She stares at it for a moment. "...Gramr. I think that's the proper name for him." Gramr puts his sheath on himself, making a thumbs up like gesture with his sash.

Opening the notebook, Izuku writes down the name. He's had to make a notebook just to keep track of all the eggs he's made, so might as well keep track of when they hatch and evolve.

Kirishima steps forward. "You got a sword! That's manly as hell, Momo." He pats her back. "Gramr is such a badass name too!"

Momo smiles. "Thank you, Kirishima." She stands up, holding onto Gramr.

Kacchan scoffs. "Well it's still not as cool as Vic. Your sword doesn't even have a mouth, it's just a hunk of metal- Fuck!"

Gramr flies out of Momo's hand, start to chop Kacchan's head several times. It still has the hilt on, so it's more like repeated bonking. Vic tries to spit fire up at it, but Gramr just dodges every ember.

Izuku sighs. "Well those two aren't going to get along, clearly." He makes a mental note to either keep those two away from each other or make them stop fighting.

Uraraka turns to Tsu. "Maybe your egg will hatch next! I wonder what it'll be…" She leans on Tsu's shoulder.

"Well it's probably a frog." Tsu speaks as bluntly as ever. "Though I wonder if it'll be a specific type of frog or anything. I'll be fine with whatever, it's nice just getting one of these."

Iida stands next to her. "I'm prepared for my egg to hatch too! Though I regret the circumstances that caused it, I still will take responsibility and take care of it!"

Uraraka chuckles. "We get it, you feel bad for karate chopping Deku."

Izuku smiles, leaning back. Listening to his classmates talk about who will hatch next, or the new Pokemon… it's relaxing. He doesn't even feel exposed being dressed in a T-shirt and sweatpants anymore. For once in his life, he doesn't feel like he has to be careful about touch.

Notes:

This was a lot of fun to write. The only difficult part was the beginning, trying to properly explain everything. This fic serves as a prototype almost. I'm considering trying to make a full fic based on this.

Now if I do that, I'll make sure to say that I won't cancel UA Altered Origin for this, I'll work on them together. Even just writing this was a good break from the amount of fight scenes in the other story.

I'll be honest, I got really into this idea. Before even writing this, I first assigned one pokemon each to 73 characters from canon, then got bored and also gave all of them full teams. Basically I have lots of options to choose from when deciding a pokemon for everyone.

Let me know if I should continue this or not. I probably won't add chapters onto this fic, but I'll start a new one so I can go more in depth on everything if needed. This is just a prototype essentially, just me laying out the ideas for a possible fic.

EDIT: I made a fic for this idea! Here's the url
