Summary
As Seonghwa sets aside one page to start on another, Hongjung's eyes catch on his face—illuminated in the warm glow of the candlelight—and stay there. His long and lustrous hair, his smooth skin, the angle of his nose, the slant of his ink-dark eyes, the fullness of his lips, the memory of his smile: all contribute to the serenity in his countenance. Looking at Seonghwa soothes Hongjung's heart, even as it quickens slightly, perhaps for fear that he might notice him staring. When did his presence at his side start feeling so natural?
When Hongjung, the prince of a small island nation, is advised to marry a lady from the mainland for the good of the kingdom, he immediately hates the idea but can't rationalize his objections. It falls to Seonghwa, a friend and confidant of more than ten years, to help him realize what he really wants and why.
