Chapter Text

1

Izuku stares down at the koi pond, watching as the fish slowly swim around. They lazily circle one another until one of the koi darts out and starts nibbling on his notebook, curiously chewing on the burnt pages as the other koi join it. “Stupid fish that’s not food.” Izuku mutters out as he leans down and grabs his notebook, gently trying to shake the water out of the pages.

What had he done to deserve this? Nothing. He had done literally nothing. Just sat and watched as Bakugou exploded his notebook and told him to take a swan dive off the roof. He did nothing all the other times the abuse happened.

He did nothing when the doctor told him and his mother that Izuku had a quirk just one that took such precise activation that he might as well be quirkless.

He did nothing as his dad beat his mom for it.

He probably should have done something.

He did do something when Bakugou used his quirk on him the first time. He stopped calling him Kacchan and got beat harder for it. He did nothing when something bad happened after that.

He had done nothing to deserve this abuse, so why was he being punished for it? Why was he the one getting spider lilies on his desk? Why was he the one getting death threats and beaten within an inch of his life? Was this what he deserved? Was getting beat down what the higher beings of this earth decided was his punishment?

Izuku didn’t know, but he was done doing nothing. He was done sitting back. He was going to deal out some torment of his own. Nothing and no one could stop his fury.

Unbeknownst to him, something flared to life. A change in his silhouette, a thought in his mind, a flicker of fire and wings, the bright burning toxic hate in his eyes that made them glow even in the darkest of nights.

“Look buddy,” Izuku says to the living piece of slime and sludge in front of him. “I don’t have time for this right now. I have a date with my pillow and then I have to plan world domination and how to get back at all the people who have ever hurt me. So! If you wouldn’t mind finding someone else to go fuck or whatever it is you wanted that would be excellent.” He smiled pleasantly; eyes flickering a toxic green so bright they were practically glowing.

The sludge thing in front of him seemed to be blinking hard with a look of what could only be described as terror in his eyes. Izuku thinks he can see the things mouth move slightly and faintly hear “Who is this kid?” Well, that’s odd. Izuku walks away leaving the gaping piece of sludge there.

He didn’t know that leaving would mean he wouldn’t get to meet his hero. He didn’t know that leaving meant that the slime heap wouldn’t be captured. He didn’t know he was only leaving because his ‘quirk’ finally awoke.

Izuku watches Bakugou as he struggles against the slime villain he met earlier. He might hate Bakugou but that doesn’t mean he deserved death. ‘No,’ a voice says. ‘He deserves torment for what he did to the little champion.’ Izuku startles because as much as he agrees with the voice in the back of his mind, it was definitely not a normal voice. It didn’t sound anything like his internal musing’s. The voice sounded deep and throaty but distinctly feminine. Deal with it later, Izuku. His actual internal musing says.

He stares at Bakugou debating whether or not to do something. Well, that other voice is right, Bakugou doesn’t deserve death despite what he’s done to. Izuku sighs and reaches back to pull off his backpack to fling at the sludge villain’s eyes, when his hand brushes up against something that is definitely not his backpack.

Turning his head to see what he brushed up against Izuku is met with a giant pair of leathery bat wings. Izuku’s confusion peaked as he tuns more to get a better look at the wings which are definitely coming from his back. What in the absolute Jesus’s saggy balls is going on? Thinking about it later, he decides, is the best course of action.

Turning back to Bakugou struggling, Izuku runs forward, just barely ducking under Death Arms as he reaches for him. Reaching out to grab the villain’s eyeball, one of the only physical parts of the sludge – he notices that his nails are longer than normal, more jagged, almost claw-like. Think about it later, Izuku.

“You fucker!” The villain shrieks as Izuku’s hand closes around its eye.

“Yep, that’s me. The kid from earlier.” Izuku says. “You know, when I said to go fuck someone else, I didn’t mean blasty over here.”

Izuku sees something move out of the corner of his eye but doesn’t pay it any attention, still trying to free Bakugou from the villain’s grasp. He does notice when a thick purple fog settles over the three of them. He watches in disbelief as the sludge villain seems to close his eyes and go to sleep. Before Izuku can think to do anything, his eyes start to flutter shut.

He catches some people talking – something about not having the right quirk? – as his consciousness slips away he has to wonder, what was that about?

Nemuri wanted to have a normal day. She knows that’s what Shouta always says his most eventful days start with but, damn did she try. She had succeeded at having a fairly normal and calm day until about the time school let out.

Nemuri was just minding her own business when she noticed a massive crowd around something, or someone. She could see hero’s trying to keep people away from what she presumed was a fight. She walked up to one of the heroes – Death Arms.

“What’s going on here?” she asks as she shows him her hero ID.

“I’m not exactly sure how this started, but this guy made of sludge has the kid there taken hostage.” Nemuri sighed and looked at the situation, mentally gearing up for the smack down she'd have to give these hero’s once she was done actually saving the kid. Death Arms continued, “The kids the one making explosions, so we can’t get close, and none of us had the righ- Hey kid! Stay back! You’ll get hurt!” Death Arms shouted as he lunged to grab the kid that had made his way past the barrier.

The new kid with small horns and a large pair of bat-like wings reached out and grabbed the villain’s eye with his taloned hands.

“You fucker!” the villain screams as his eye is punctured by the talons, fluid spurting out of it. The villain would definitely be blind in that eye after this.

Nemuri started to approach the fight, getting ready to tear her shirt and send everyone to sleep when the words the kid said caught her attention.

“Yep, that’s me. The kid from earlier. You know, when I said go fuck someone else, I didn’t mean blasty over here.”

With the knowledge sitting in her head that the kid knew both the hostage and the villain in her head, she finally ripped her sleeve. A purple fog settled around the three and the police started motioning for everyone to move back as the mist started to spread.

Finally, all three of them conked out, the hero went about pulling the kids from out of the villain.

“You didn’t have the right quirk?! There was a kid that could have died if the other one didn’t step in! If I didn’t step in! Because you couldn’t do your job!” Nemuri started shouting at the heroes.

The paramedics and police went about their job while Nemuri went about Her’s, namely tearing these heroes a new one. She could understand Mt. Lady’s hesitation, she had only just debuted earlier that morning, and while school taught a lot to new hero’s, putting it into practice was a little different. The others had no excuse though, they all could have at least tried to do something.

Silently Nemuri headed towards her car. She had to go to the hospital and ask the kid how he knew the villain.

She also wondered about the gut feeling in her stomach, marking the two kids as one of them.
