Chapter Text
Martyn opened his eyes.
He looked around, his vision hazy from (somehow) getting unconscious.
He felt chains wrapped on him.
He tried to squirm out, only to be electrified first on his arms, spreading over his body.
He jolted back, in pain, and then felt a wave of rage go through him.
“Let me out!” he screamed, still trying to tear through the chains, but eventually it got too painful, so he gave up.
Hm… I’ll think about it, something responded.
For a second, he lifted his hands to cover his ears, but stopped and remembered that there were weird electric chains surrounding him.
Whatever that thing was, it was loud.
Loud, like being close to thousands of bombs exploding, but even louder.
It was almost deafening.
It was mysterious and echoed like it was trapped deep down in a dark cave with no exit in sight.
No, it said, coming to a decision. I think I won’t.
Then, he thought of something.
“Well, you can at least take the chains off me,” Martyn said, smoothly. “You know, it's not very welcoming to trap your amazing guest in chains.” He frowned. “You guys are not very good hosts. No one wouldn’t want to come to your humble abode if that's how you treat them.”
He grinned.
It muttered something.
“I mean, at least tell me who you are,” he requested. “So I can recommend your house parties to other people.”
We are behind you. We are always with you, even if you don’t know it. We are the shadows at night. We are those who watch.
He flinched.
Now that you know that, we will let you out of the chains. Explore the room, there are no traps around, at least none that we know of.
He stood up, feeling the chains go from around him.
And the moment he stepped forward, he felt vines wrap around his legs.
Oh well. Martyn felt the vines grip tightening. I guess we were wrong.
He felt claw-like things grab on to his legs.
Come forward, another watcher commanded.
He assumed it was another watcher, considering it sounded way more nervous than the watcher talking to him before.
He didn’t want to but it was oddly hard to resist.
He stepped forward.
~~~~~~~~
The watcher watched him step forward.
He smiled.
Good. Now lets see what more our little listener can do, right Xelqua?
