Chapter Text
As cliché as it sounds, it was a beautiful night. There was a cool breeze drifting in from the east, and the stars were as limitless as the possibilities before them. But Zuko was not looking at the stars, nor was the flushing on his face cooled by the briskness of the evening. He stood, shocked, staring down into the glowing red eyes of his lover, Mothman.
“Will you?” Crooned its raspy voice. For a moment, the ruling regent was still too stunned to speak; then, a wave of raw emotion snapped him out of his stupor. “Yes…” He croaked, holding back tears. “Yes, Mothman,” Zuko sobbed. “Of course I’ll marry you!”
The black -furred? Feathered? Idk he’s kind of just a blob- figure released an overjoyed high-pitched shriek, one strong flap of its wings bringing him to his feet, another lifting himself and the Firelord- no, his fiance- into the night sky. Their laughter was mostly carried away by the wind, but a few lucky souls within and around the palace grounds did hear some of it, just for a second.
“You know,” Zuko said, “I always knew this day would arrive.” If Mothman had a mouth, he would have smiled. “I was drawn to you, sweet Prince.” “Like a moth…” Zuko whispered. “To a flame.”
