Work Text:
One of the many things Khan had to get used to after learning about Uzi's murder friend and subsequently murder BOYfriend was seeing said murder boyfriend around the house when Uzi wasn't. The boy had a key Uzi had given him and Khan did not feel like changing the key to his door.
Today was one of those days where Uzi was at school, in detention for sleeping in class, and N was in the Doorman house.
It was… Interesting to say the least. N always looked too uncomfortable by Khan's presence in the house, would wave from a distance with his eyes hollowed and sit on the couch awkwardly until Uzi appeared, then he would wag his tail and hug the girl.
But it would take a while, because Uzi was in detention.
Khan didn't know what to do with the boy, he offered a hot beverage and N happily accepted it but never drank it, which was weird but fair, he didn't know what murder drones ate besides people so he could formulate an opinion.
"What are you thinking about, boy?" Khan's question startled N.
"Uh… V and J have different legs than I do and I was wondering if it is hard to walk like that? Sir?" N's answer was very interesting but not at all what Khan expected.
"Uh that is… Certainly a thought to be thinking" N nodded so he assumed it was the right answer "Those are your… sisters? Right?"
N looked flabbergasted "No!" he laughed nervously "Robo-god no, they are my co-workers, oh, we, we aren't related, as far as we know"
He didn't know why he was so defensive about that, but he didn't push it anymore.
Khan decided to sit at the other side of the couch, N slided as far away as he could, which wasn't very far.
"How are things going with Uzi? I know she can be a lot, she has the same charm as her mother" Khan smiled and chuckled thinking about Nori "Her charm was being a lot"
N got startled "Oh! Ah, I don't think Uzi is a lot…? I think she is okay, things are going well" He smiled, it was like seeing a cartoon puppy make an appearance.
"Well, they better be going well" He raised a wrench he had had on his hand the whole time "Because if I hear anything go wrong"
He didn't finish his sentence, he thought it was enough as is, N looked nervous, and that was enough as it was.
"I would never hurt Uzi" N affirmed, it was probably the first time he said something with confidence in front of his face inside his home.
"You have before, don't think I don't remember" Khan used the wrench to tilt N's pilot hat over his eyes "You lost my trust on there"
"I did it on accident" N said "I don't plan on ever doing it again"
And Khan knew so, that he didn't plan on it, but that is how hurting someone works, you never really plan on hurting the ones you love. He knew that perfectly, every time he looked at Nori's room and N did too, every time he looked at Uzi's prosthetic hand, it was that you never planned that hurt the most. So he left it at that.
Uzi came back home a while after that, complaining about the stupid teacher and the stupid school and how everyone's programming must be defective if they expect her to just be okay with sitting in a boring room all day doing nothing.
Later after dinnertime and when the murder boyfriend was sound asleep salivating all over Uzi's bed, Khan heard stomping directed to his bedroom door. It opened rapidly revealing his daughter, who had a pink t-shirt that was damp on the side of her shoulder.
"Don't threaten my boyfriend!" she yelled. Khan wondered how N could sleep so soundly with how noisy the Doorman family usually was.
"You never let me do anything fun!"
