Chapter Text
Alright, this was getting ridiculous!
Izuku has tried, alright? He really did. Being gentle, patient, understanding, saying please and thank you, even going as far as trying out bribery.
But if this shit is going to continue as it is, he is going to leave the world of the sane and enter the realm of the insane.
He let out a frustrated noise and pulled as hard as he could at the brush currently stuck on the side of his head in his bedhead of a mop of curly ass hair.
It has been fourty minutes. FOURTY. And that damned brush still has not budged from its original position. He even used a de-tangling oil before even attempting to dive into the ratsnest of knots and what-not and his arms were beginning to ache.
Izuku sighed and resigned himself to his fate. He would have to ask the girls to help him tame his beast of what people called hair.
He put on some sweatpants and a tanktop before slipping on his slippers and making his way down to the common area, comb still stuck at the side of his head and not moving an inch.
Tsuyu, Momo, Jirou and Mina were currently doing their weekly spa hours, which happened every saturday, and before Izuku even attempted to disturb their little bubble he made himself some much needed coffee. As soon as the mug of liquid gold was finished he grabbed it and padded to the girls, coughing awkwardly to get their attention.
They all quieted down and looked at him, and only a few seconds of awkward silence and a lot of staring at the brush stuck in his hair later, Mina gasped and pointed right at him, making him shrink back a bit, already bracing himself for the laughter that was bound to happen.
"U-uhm I wanted to ask you guys for a little help here? It's kinda stuck and my arms are starting to hurt...." God, this was so damn embarrassing.
"Oh my god you guys I told you! Combing curly hair is im-fucking-possible! Come here, Izubabe, and let me help you. I've got just the thing for you!" Mina was on her feet in an instant and snatched him down in the middle of them, forcing him to sit on the floor while she sat right behind him on the couch. Before he knew what was happening Momo had produced a very high quality de-tangling lotion, Jirou was making him sit more comfortably by gathering some pillows and fluffy blankets all around him and Mina was carefully going through the rest of his hair with her fingers, assessing the situation like the pro she was. Tsu was getting some relaxing drinks for everyone in the meantime.
"Goodness, Izubabe, how did you manage to get it this tangled up?" Izuku could basically feel her frown and he shifted nervously.
"I'm gonna be honest with you, but this might hurt a bit when we get that comb out. Now then, ladies, let's get to work."
For some reason, that exact sentence made the green haired teenager's bones shudder to an unnatural degree. "Th-thank you for taking care of me, I guess?"
Yeah, he was gonna die.
It took a group of four very patient girls with all different kinds of hair of their own over twenty minutes to get the comb out and another HOUR to get through the rest of the knots and tangles. At some point Momo ate half a cake to produce a miniature version and far less professional hairstylist's washing sink thingy and now Izuku found himself having his scalp massaged by a goddess called Mina.
Her fingers were targeting just the right spots and the overall treatment Izuku was getting was devine.
Right now he was lying on the couch, legs over Jirou's lap, head on Mina' lap and getting his toe nails painted black with mossgreen glitter on top by Momo, and hands being painted the same colour, only with a few white accents on some of the fingers and toes by Tsu.
"Oh my god, and then guess what happened!" Mina exclaimed excitedly, continuing before anyone could say anything. "Midnight Sensei told me that right after that creep catcalled her, she turned around, flirted a bit with him, got closer, and as soon as he was close enough she punched his face and broke his nose! She wasn't even in her hero persona, she was just being a normal civilian on a night out, and her hero training paid off! I really wish I had her confidence!"
The acid user quieted down a bit, and Izuku opened his eyes.
"What do you mean, 'you wish'? You're already incredibly confident, I don't see why you couldn't pull off being a queen? You know, since you already are one?"
Izuku stared up into her wide golden eyes and immediately regretted saying anything at all. Mina was at the verge of tears and he knew that he fucked up oh shit how could he fix this???
Before he could spiral any further though, Jirou chimed in, making both of the curly haired teens look at her.
"I completely agree with Midoriya. You're one of the most confident girls in class, I'm sure you would rock being a confident heroine like her. If I'm honest, I kinda can't imagine you being one of the smol, cute, petite sidekicks, I think you're more a mix between Midnight and Miruko."
"Yeah, kero. I also think you'd do very well if you chose a path similar to those two."
"I agree. I too simply can not imagine you going the path of let us say, Mt. Lady for example. I know that this is an unpopular opinion, but she is very very media hungry and does not prioritize civilian rescue but rather the fame of arresting a villain. Personally, I am not a fan of that." Momo added thoughtfully, still concentrating on his toe nails. She accidentally smudged a bit on the side and was cleaning that up before it stained the skin.
"I think so too, actually. Did you know that Mt. Lady actually did confirm, if only indirectly, that the only reason her suit was so tight was to be attractive to the male audience? And not like Kayama Sensei, to use that to her advantage, no. She just likes the attention and therefore her PR sector is very successful, ergo she makes more money. Now I'm not saying that that's a wrong mindset, but she, as you already said, Momo, kinda forgets about civilian safety and focuses on posing for a camera instead. I don't think that that should be a way of combining sexual appeal and heroism at all, and the way the media eats it up honestly disgusts me. Not her of course, just her lack of skill in prioritising the important things a heroine should prioritize."
"I mean yeah, but she still is a good heroine though..." Mina cut back in, tears thankfully gone. "... but the unnecessary sexualisation does have to stop."
Izuku and the girls continued to have the time of their life and a new topic was approached.
"Hey, Izubabe?" Mina asked, after having braided the probably thousandth braid across his head.
Answering with a soft hum the young man replied, prompting the question out of the young woman in whose lap he was still situated.
"Are you growing your hair out or will you get it cut? It's pretty long and it must be quite an annoyance in training aswell, right?"
"I mean, yeah, it's getting annoying, but since we can't get off campus for literally anything because of the LOV, I'm thinking about growing it out. I have no idea though if it's gonna look good, with my curls, and it's gonna be a lot of work to maintain." He mused, still not opening his eyes, simply enjoying having his hair being played with.
The other three girls had gone outside for a bit, taking a walk in the rain, since Tsu asked them if they wanted to see her do some sort of frog like thing in the rain. Uraraka and Hagakure were currently studying in the library for an upcoming test, so now the two of them were alone in the common room. The other boys knew better than to disturb spa day, so they all were in each others' dorm rooms doing who knew what.
"Well, if you find a routine and the right products then it wouldn't be that much more work than they already are, and I'm sure you'd look fabulous. Hey, off topic, but what do you think about dying your hair?"
Izuku opened his eyes and cocked an eyebrow at that.
"What would you have in mind?" He challenged her in a rare moment of pure confidence and she visibly lit up.
"Nothing too bad, but I think it'd look stunning if you were to bleach the lower half of your hair snowwhite~" She almost sang while going back to massaging his scalp again.
"White, huh? Why not black? It's much less visible and I wouldn't get as much of an earful from Iida than white." He chuckled and felt Mina laughing as her own torso shook with barely suppressed giggles.
"Why not do it and see? I think he's gonna reprimand you either way, you know how he is about these kinds of things. I meant it though. You wanna go half white? Also, I tried and your hair is long enough to put it up into a small half ponytail, and I bet it'd look awesome and your hair would stay out of your face, and you'd be and eyecatcher!"
When he thought about it, he was getting pretty tired of his green hair, and he did need a change. Sure, he was a bit reluctant of letting as aggressive chemicals as bleach near his head, but other people did it aswell and they were fine too, so what would happen?
Taking in a deep breath of hopefully not instant regret he sat up and turned to fully look at a still waiting Mina.
Breaking a small, dare anyone say cocky smile, he finally replied.
"Let's go give Iida whiplash with how fast he's gonna chop his hands"
The feral grin Mina shot him was almost as unhinged as Bakugou's on a good day and somewhere on Campus Aizawa woke up from his nap and immediately reached for his headache medication.
Now Izuku found himself going on and on about how massive Monoma from 1B's merged superiority and inferiority complex is and that he desperately needed to go and see a therapist, while Mina was parting his hair with a special comp with a needle-like end and holding up the upper part of his hair with a multitude of clippers.
Soon after a massive rant from Mina about how he was the second most annoying boy in the entire building right after Mineta he was feeling the tingling sensation of the bleach working on destroying the pigments in his hair when she finished putting everything into foils and exclaimed a proud "Alright, for now we gotta wait a bit!"
She had put an old towel which she used for Kirishima when he touches up his roots around Izuku's neck so that his clothes wouldn't get ruined, he got up and stretched carefully. It was around half past eight in the morning when he went down to the girls for help and now it was almost two p.m. so naturally after sitting still for so long he was as stiff as a wooden board.
After asking for permission he looked around the room a little bit closer and found that since the start of the year she had redecorated quite a bit.
Her favourite colour was still very obviously pink, but she toned down on it. At first she had left the walls' colour as it was, but now it was painted a very dark shade of pink with black framed feministic art hung up. The ceiling was covered in fake vines with the occasional LED lights in them and her furniture was made out of a very dark walnut wood.
One more thing which immediately stood out was the massive amount of candles and her corner for selfcare. Products were neatly refilled into relabled into reusable glasses and preserving jars, some of the contents even looked self made. Izuku was not going to lie, that little corner kind of felt like a witch's storage of her potions.
Suddenly he felt kind of irritated at everything and everyone, including himself and promptly realised what that meant.
"Hey Mina?"
Said girl stuck her head out of the bathroom and gave him her attention. "What's up? You okay?"
"Yeah, uhm, I kinda need you to keep a secret for me." Izuku started to fumble with his fingers. He hadn't even told any of his classmates his secret and it was kind of nerve wrecking.
"Oh Izubabe, of course I can keep a secret. Spill the tea!"
"U-uhm I wanted to ask, since your balcony is faced into the direction of the forest and not the main building as mine is if I could.... smoke a few cigarettes here? I don't really want other people to know that I smoke so...." He trailed off and averted his eyes, not ready for whatever reaction Mina would have.
He was right, he was not ready for her reaction at all.
"Oh, yeah sure! Mind if I join you?"
His head snapped back up to her and his shoulders untensed momentarily when he saw her holding up a pine flavoured vape with a knowing look on her face.
"Come on, let's poison the air and our lungs a bit, huh?" As she walked past him she grabbed his wrist and pulled him out and onto the balcony. The fresh breeze made the foils make some crinkling noises and the freckled boy lit up his lighter and inhaled the first cloud of smoke into his lungs, almost instantly feeling more relaxed. A white pine flavoured cloud emerged from next to him and the two of them stood in comfortable silence while restocking on their daily doses of much needed nicotine.
Neither of them wanted to speak about why they smoked, so neither of them mentioned anything. Which was fine. Both were willing to respect each other's boundaries and not pry.
Mina had secretly watched Midoriya stare at her witches' corner and hoped that he wouldn't write her off as weird like some of her middle school classmates had, but he, thank god, looked more interested than repelled, an emotion which she could definitely work with.
Izuku had finished his last cigarette a few minutes ago and was now gazing out at the woods, listening to the birds chirping while Mina took her last breaths before putting the stick away into her pocket and leaning against the railing, letting out a content sigh.
"It's nice to know that I'm not the only drug addict in this class."
"Same here. I'm kinda convinced that Sero is smoking weed in his room though. What do you think?" He replied, earning a snort from the horned girl.
"Same. And honestly? His attempt at covering the smell with incense is cute. He should just go out on the balcony. The smell is gonna stick to the walls if he continues like this."
A low hum of agreement is all he needs to say before they go back inside and she takes a peek into the foils to see the state of his hair. She seems satisfied enough to take off all the foils and rinse the bleach out before working in a special conditioner and care product for freshly dyed hair to avoid as much damage as possible.
She blow dries it and tells him how to do it properly to transform his usual chaotic mess into an organised mess, and then she styles his hair.
She makes one braid on one side of his head and mixes it in with the half up ponytail, and makes a few more tiny braids into the white half down part. To top it off she puts in some hair rings and clips. For the final touch she pulls out two strands of hair in the front and braids a third on the opposite side of where the first braid is, right infront of his ear and puts some silver rings in there aswell. She had been so focused that she only now realised that she'd sat on Izuku's lap without realising it, took on a very concerning red colour and awkwardly scrambled off.
And if she was honest, she was proud of her work because boy was Izubabe hot.
But could she make him even hotter?
"Izuku, babe, would you like my honest opinion on something?"
Izuku looked away from the mirror, giving her his attention. "Sure, what's up?"
She sighed and gave him a look over.
"I'm sorry but who told you that it was a good idea to walk around with a tank top that says 'socks' on it? Are you up to try out a new style?" God she needed to try her idea out or she might actually explode.
Izuku was quiet for a bit, clearly thinking it over. After a minute, he sighed, and finally answered.
"You know what? Sure, why not. I mean, I know that my sense of fashion is atrocious, and we already share our smoking habit, so why shouldn't we be models for one day? Actually."
He sat back down into her chair and shot her a wild grin.
"Go full on out, I wanna look good today."
He didn't need to tell her twice.
Izuku couldn't even blink and he was already being ushered to change into a completely new outfit, and while he was in the bathroom figuring out how to get everything on his body, the other three girls all arrived after getting a text from Mina, which only said '911'.
When Izuku finally emerged from the bathroom, every single person in the room gasped.
He was wearing some sort of not tight but not baggy trousers with few but big holes in them, one leg was white, the other black with extra pockets on each side. The waistband was decorated with chains hanging loosely around his hips. A moss green strap was also hanging loosely around his hips, going together perfectly with the tucked into the trousers' white oversized button up, not completely buttoned all the way up. Around the teenager's neck was a tie the same shade of green as the strap around his hip and a silver chain necklace. To top everything off there were a few black rings on his fingers and a choker around his neck.
Everyone stared for a few seconds before Mina finally emerged from the other side of the room, make-up ready in each hand.
"Girls, this is an emergency, as you can see. I need your help with what kind of eyeliner I should give him! That lovely bastard has flawless skin, so I'm not gonna use any foundation on him, not that he has my skintone whatsoever, but please help me with the form of the wing!!!" She pleaded, and it was four in the afternoon when they were finally finished.
Izuku was now sporting a very small smokey eye, with a splitwing eyeliner. The upper wing was black and the lower wing was silver. Jirou had some white mascara left and now he had white lashes, and Tsu insisted on drawing a two little stars on one of his cheeks.
Something that came to all of them as a big surprise was that Momo of all people had a multitude of fake piercings hidden in her room. She lent Izuku some and now he was sporting a gorgeous black and silver earcuff in the form of a dragon and a septum piercing in his nose.
All in all, Izuku looked like he jumped straight out of a fashion magazine and if he was honest with himself, he kinda felt like it too. And the best part: he's tried make-up a few times himself and he really liked it, so he was quite accustomed to wearing it, even if it was just at home and not outside, and the clothes Mina picked out weren't uncomfortable either.
He stared at himself in the mirror and twisted and turned himself around to get a look at all possible angles. Holy shit, he looked nothing like the Izuku from yesterday. He looked far far better.
He turned around and watched the girls all staring at him. He found his target, Mina, and fixed her with a very intense stare.
"Mina. I need you to throw out my entire wardrobe and teach me your ways. I look fabulous. I've never looked this fabulous in my entire life. What have I missed?! This is awesome. I shall now worship you as my personal fashion queen. Thank you for opening my eyes, and introducing me to the world of caring for my hair, teaching me about style and teaching me more make-up tricks than I can count."
He dropped into a deep bow and swore to come to Mina and the girls only for any kind of fashion relating issue.
"Girl, I do have to say, you absolutely rocked that outfit, and the hair! God, this looks good!" Jirou complimented with a short whistle of approval and all Tsu did was let out a few kero's.
"I have to agree aswell, you have overcome yourself yet again, Mina! I didn't know you could braid this well. Would you mind braiding my hair out of my face aswell when we have heroics? I would like to change up my style a bit aswell, if that is alright?" Momo complimented aswell and the five of them stayed in Mina's room talking about everything and nothing until it was time for dinner.
None of them had eaten anything for lunch because none of them were hungry, but now they were starving.
The feral demonic grins all of them sent each other in anticipation of the chaos they were about to release down with the rest of the class was now only a few moments away.
