Chapter Text
“Hey, Pomni. I noticed you left your food at the table,” Ragatha said from outside her room. “I know you don’t really need to eat here, but hey, I think it’ll make you feel better if you eat up!”
Ragatha stood there nervously, waiting for a response from Pomni.
‘Oh god, she’s not already abstracted, is she?’ Ragatha thought.
“Oh.. uhh, sorry.. Ragatha, but I’m just.. not that hungry I guess.” Pomni replied. “You can have it if you want.”
Ragatha sighed. She’s okay.
“Look, Pomni, I.. I understand why you wanna find the exit so badly. You had a life before the circus, we all did. But hey, life here isn’t that bad. At least you got-“
A loud thud came from within the room, interrupting Ragatha’s sentence.
“P-Pomni?” Ragatha called. Quickly, she opened her door to find Pomni struggling to pull her hat off. It seemed to be permanently stuck to her head.
“How.. do.. you… take.. this.. hat.. OFF?!” Pomni yelled, pulling on the two tips of her jester hat. She stumbled helplessly on the floor.
Ragatha couldn’t help but laugh.
“Oh, you can’t really take the costumes off! They’re attached to you permanently.” Ragatha laughed, helping her stand up. The small jester had tears in her eyes.
“Aghh.. I-I’m so sorry for leaving you back there…” She cried. “And all for some fake exit..”
“It’s okay. I forgive you!” Ragatha said. “Like I said, it’s understandable that you wanna leave but.. it’s best if you try to forget the exit was ever there, look at what happened to Kaufmo! I’ve seen quite a lot of people get abstracted before and.. well, all I’m saying is, I don’t want you to be next. You’re a pretty cool person, Pomni, and it’d be nice to have you around.”
Pomni looked up at her with her big bug eyes.
“You.. want to have me around?” She said. “I.. well.. I know I don’t remember much from well.. before this..
but I.. I think no one’s ever said that to me before.”
“Well uh.. it’s no problem.” Ragatha said, smiling.
Pomni sighed.
“You’re right, there really is no escape here. But hey, I guess that means I don’t really need to work anymore..” She said. “I think I do need to make the best out of this..”
