Chapter Text

Peter looked at the building in front of him and shifted on his feet nervously. This was one of the jobs he’d seen hiring. It was the highest paying one and the one he’d enjoy working in the most. He wasn’t sure how today would go but he hoped he wouldn’t screw it up.

It had barely been a month since Dr. Strange cast the spell that landed him in gotham. It took him a while to get back on his feet. He was basically mourning everyone he’s ever known. He knew he couldn’t just be barely scraping by forever, though.

So about a week ago, he visited the library and got himself some fake but believable documents. He made the documents as truthful as he could. He was 17 and just graduated school. He had interned at some tech company and a hospital. Only the last part was a lie, but that was because he really needed this job. Besides, the work an intern does at a hospital can’t be that different than a vigilante’s typical injuries right?

Peter looked at the run down side on the side of the building and took a deep breath. No more stalling. Peter walked up to a desk, which he assumed was the reception. The woman behind the desk looked at him critically.

“You hurt?” She asked with a bored look on her face.

“No,uh, I’m here for the job? I saw the flyer” Peter said nervously.

This woman reminded him of MJ. And by that he meant that she terrified him. Not in a villain way but in a i-will-glare-at-you-until-you-start-crying way.

“Right” she drawled looking him up and down, which was fair enough. His clothes were dirty, as was his hair. He definitely looked homeless, which he was.

“Here’s my resume” Peter said passing her the papers.

She read through them, occasionally glancing at Peter.

“Go down this corridor here and knock on the third door on the left” She finally said. “Show these to Leslie, she’ll decide whether or not you’re hired”

She passed him the papers back.

“Thank you” he said sincerely

She narrowed her eyes at him and shooed him away.

Now for the hard part.
