Chapter Text
“Mikey! How long ‘till we get there? I’m bored!”
“Elizabeth, be patient, we're almost there. And for the last time, stop calling me Mikey!”
“Never. Unless you’d prefer Eggs Benedict?”
“Fine! Mikey it is.”
“Why’re we even going to the old pizzeria anyway?”
“I told you an hour ago! Were you seriously not listening, Elizabeth?”
“Not really.”
“You know, sometimes it amazes me that you were dad’s favourite.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?!”
“You know full well what I meant. And would you look at that? We’re here.”
The ghost of Elizabeth Afton, through the eyes of the circus baby animatronic, looked up at a building with a giant sign that read; Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Considering how popular the restaurant used to be, the building didn’t look that well maintained.
“Elizabeth! Are you coming or what?”
“Oh, yeah. Just coming!”
Elizabeth/Circus baby and Michael wandered nearly silently through the empty pizzeria as they made their way to parts and services, when Elizabeth realised something.
“Hey, Mikey?”
“What now?”
“How has no one caught us yet? Are there no night guards or anything?”
“I told you before we got here, I applied for a job as a night guard here under a fake name. Yet another thing you’d know already if you actually paid attention.”
“Speaking of which, are you going to remind me why we’re here?”
“You’ll have to see for yourself.”
“Why do you enjoy torturing me so much?”
“I’m torturing you? Call me back when you’ve avoided not having any internal organs by the skin of your teeth.”
Elizabeth mumbled something that sounded remotely like ‘touche’ when Michael spoke up again.
“Right, he should be just through here.”
“Who?”
Michael took a deep breath in before responding to his sister.
“The original Fredbear suit.”
“But why are we- oh. Oh, Michael.”
“Yeah. If you don’t want to come, you can just stay out here. But I- I need to know if-”
“You need to know if he possessed Fredbear like I possessed Circus Baby.” Elizabeth finished the sentence for Michael as he nodded.
“Don’t worry Mikey, I’ll come with you. Though if he is there I should probably leave Baby for now. You know him, he’ll probably freak out and burst into tears.”
Michael laughed as the ghost of Elizabeth floated out of the animatronic, and headed into parts and services with her brother.
Cassidy was bored out of her mind. You’d think it’d be fun, getting to scare the living daylights out of the night guards who worked here, but no. Of course the animatronic she got to possess just so happened to be one of the old springlock suits. And of course when she possessed it it just so happened to be in suit mode, not animatronic mode, so she couldn’t even move around when she was inside it. And of course she just so happened to have to share the stupid bear with the ghost of a little boy who wouldn’t stop crying. AND OF COURSE, THAT LITTLE BOY JUST SO HAPPENED TO BE THE SON OF HER MOTHER FUCKING MURDERER! Her life after death was annoying, and so unbelievably boring. So imagine Cassidy’s excitement when a boy, perhaps in his late teens or early twenties, wearing a night guard uniform walked straight into parts and services, where the springlock suit was being stored. She briefly wondered if she should call the others over so they could get their fair share of tormenting the night guard, but she decided against it. She might not get an opportunity like this for a very long time. Cassidy was about to pop out of Fredbear, when she faltered. A girl, maybe around nine or ten, floated in behind the night guard. Floated in. This girl was definitely a ghost. And it definitely wasn’t Susie or Charlie. Why had the night guard brought a ghost with him? She made the decision to stay inside Fredbear and watch, for now.
“Evan? Evan, are you here? It’s me, Michael. Lizzy’s here as well.”
Cassidy was growing more and more confused by the second. Evan was the name of that annoying crying child who she had to share the animatronic with. How did this night guard know him? She was so confused, that she almost didn’t realise that Evan had stopped crying.
“M-Mike?”
That’s when it clicked for Cassidy. Mike. That was who Evan said his brother was. That’s who Evan said put his head inside of Fredbear when it was in animatronic mode. Cassidy's confusion was quickly replaced by pure rage. Sure, Evan’s constant crying was super annoying. But that didn’t mean she didn’t feel sorry for the poor kid. And anyway, Michael, or Mike, or whatever his name was, he was the one responsible for Evan’s never ending whinging. By god, she was going to murder this night guard for torturing one of her only friends, and unintentionally torturing her eardrums.
“Cassidy, wait!”
But Evan’s calls for her to stop fell deaf to Cassidy’s ears, as she sprang out of the suit, screaming and growling in the direction of Michael.
Michael was nearly certain that he was hearing things. He thought he could hear something that sounded an awful lot like a child crying, but it was extremely faint.
“Evan? Evan, are you here? It’s me, Michael. Lizzy’s here as well.”
“...”
“Mikey, I don’t think anyone’s here.”
He looked up to see Elizabeth, who had perched herself on the top of a storage shelf, looking slightly dejected.
“No, he has to be. He has to be here.”
“Mike-”
“YOU!”
Michael and Elizabeth both jumped as a girl with black pigtails, who looked just a few years younger than Elizabeth looked, sprang up at them.
“You! What are you doing here?”
“Wh- what?”
“Oh please, don’t pretend to play dumb. I know all about you. I know what you did.”
The girl, who Michael and Elizabeth had come to realise was a ghost, had begun to back Michael into a corner.
“What do you know? What did I do?”
“Now let’s see, does the year 1983 ring any bells?”
Michaels face went pale as Elizabeth’s contorted with shock and rage.
“Do you really think, Mike, that you have any right to come in here demanding to see your brother? Do you really?”
Both Elizabeth and the angry ghost girl looked as if they were prepared to kill, as Michael only stuttered and stammered out of pure shock and fear.
“You better get your ass out this door right now before I-”
“Cassidy stop!”
Evan couldn’t take it anymore. His brother looked downright scared for his life, his sister looked like she was prepared to drag Cassidy straight down to hell, and Cassidy’s screaming was beginning to make his head hurt. It was all just too much for him, and as much as he hated the idea, he had no choice but to intervene.
“Cassidy stop”
Cassidy spun around abruptly to face Evan, the look of murder filling her eyes.
“WHY? WHY SHOULD I STOP? WHY SHOULD I STOP WHEN HE WAS THE ONE WHO-”
Evan flinched at Cassidy’s loud voice, which in turn caused her to realise her mistake. Probably because it meant that he would start crying again.
“Evan, I-”
“No, please don’t apologise Cass.”
Cassidy nodded and Evan turned towards his brother, but with his gaze tilted towards the ground.
“Hi Mike. Long time no see I guess.”
Michael’s face went slightly pale as he set his eyes, which began to well up with tears, upon his little brother for the first time in nearly a decade. Before he could stop himself, strings of apologies tumbled out of his mouth.
“...Evan, I’m so, so sorry. I was such an idiot and I shouldn’t have-”
“Did you seriously not hear what I just said to Cassidy? Don’t apologise, please.”
Tears began rapidly streaming down Evan’s face, but he did nothing to stop them. Even if he knew it would piss off Cassidy.
“Please Mikey, I just want to forget all about it. So don’t apologise. Besides, I heard your apology right before I died. Sure, you were a massive arse, but that doesn’t mean I don’t accept your apology.”
Before Michael could say anything in return, the brothers and Cassidy all heard Elizabeth let out a huge, dramatic gasp from on top of the storage shelf.
“Evan Afton. Was that you swearing? Shame on you.”
The youngest Aftons looked into each other's eyes for a moment, before bursting out laughing. The tears of sorrow streaming down Evan’s face, quickly shifting into tears of happiness.
“What can I say, Lizzy? Cassidy here’s had a bad influence on me.”
“Damn right I have.”
Cassidy playfully ruffled Evan’s hair as he tried to shrink out of her grasp..
“And I would’ve taught him worse if little miss perfect angel Charlotte Emily didn’t insist on me saving my anger for William.”
Michael cocked his head to the side.
“Wait,”
“CHARLIE’S HERE TOO?!”
Michael jumped at how loud Elizabeth’s voice was, but her excitement was understandable. She hadn’t seen anyone, alive or dead, since she’d been killed and trapped in the rental service, except of course the other funtime animatronics, the odd technician, and Michael himself. So she would obviously be very excited to see her childhood best friend whom she hadn’t seen in ten-ish years.
“Yeah, Charlie’s here.”
Evan piped up.
“All five of the missing kids too. Gabriel, Jeremy, Susie, Fritz, and Cassidy over here.”
“What?”
Michael shook his head in confusion.
“The police searched Freddy’s from top to bottom and they never found the bodies. Where- ohh.”
A raised eyebrow from Cassidy told Michael everything he needed to know.
“The animatronics.”
“Bingo.”
Michael let out a half laugh, when Evan nudged Cassidy and whispered something in her ear. Judging by her sigh and eye roll, he was asking her to do something she really didn’t want to do.
“Michael Afton, I’m deeply sorry for trying to kill you, even if you really deserved it after killing your brother,”
“Cassidy! Do it properly! Start over!”
Cassidy groaned and raised her hands in surrender.
“Fine. Michael Afton, I’m deeply sorry for trying to kill you, and I swear on Balloon Boy’s life that it won’t happen again.”
“Swear on something else.”
“What! Why?”
“We all hate Balloon Boy! With a burning passion!”
“Fine! I swear on Carl the Cupcake! Is that better?”
“Better. Just don’t tell Susie.”
The two kids both laughed, before a thought struck Evan’s mind.
“Mikey, How’d you know that I’d be here? And how did you find Lizzie?”
Michael and Elizabeth both exchanged a look.
“It’s, uhh, certainly a story.”
