Summary
The voidsent stands upright as far as the ceiling allows and pushes Althoorn with his back against the kitchen counter. Its copious guts and blood spread across the floor melt into a featureless shadow and blend into where the light from the windows makes way around its feet, leaving not the slightest trace of carnage on the tiles. The gaping wound on its chest closes before his eyes like ink blotting out a mistaken word. All his efforts undone, just like that.
“I will give you a choice, Althoorn Chapalu. You may return to your ordinary task, should you so desire. I will have my fill of your aether like I intended, and I will leave you alive and alone, and you will be left with your blissful ignorance and banal concerns.”
It leans forward, one hand on the counter behind him, one on his shoulder, one cupped around his cheek, overwhelms him with its massive presence, whispers dangerous words in his ears just like before.
“Or, you take another knife, and do it properly this time.”
