Work Text:
The cold wetness of the ground stung at your feet as you ran through the snow. The frigid arctic air seeped into your bones, stealing the warmth from your body as you shivered against the harsh wind. As desperate as you were for relief from the cold, you were more desperate for an escape from those hunting you.
You turned to look behind you and what you saw made you groan quietly. Not only had you left deep impressions in the drifts of snow with your feet, but the impressions were tinged with drops of bright red blood. It was a trail that would lead those hunting you right to wherever you found to hide.
A particularly sharp gust of wind blew. You shivered and fell to your knees in the snow. You tried to take a breath, but the sharpness of the cold in the air was like being stabbed through the lung with an icicle. You let your body fall forward into the soft pile of snow in front of you, too tired to continue running. The hills of snow around you guarded your body against the frigid wind. It gave your body a false sense of warmth. You closed your eyes. Just for a second, you thought.
Namjoon stiffened, his muscles tensing from the relaxed position he had been enjoying with his mate. The hair on the back of his neck stood up. Something was wrong. He closed his eyes, letting his other senses take over. Someone was on his land. His alpha was going feral. Protect the pack, it screamed at him. Namjoon sighed. Perhaps he could stop the intruder before they made it too far into the pack’s land. Maybe with the snow, the intruder hadn’t even realized that they had crossed onto the pack’s land.
Namjoon rose from the couch, untangling himself from his whiny omega mate, Jin. “I’ll be right back, my love. Something isn’t right. I think that someone is on our land. I’m just going to go check it out. You stay here with the others where it’s safe and warm.” Jin pouted with a sleepy nod before shifting positions to snuggle with the pack’s youngest member. Namjoon finished untangling himself and headed to the door before he paused.
He looked back over the sleeping faces of the other members of his pack. They all seemed so peaceful. He smiled at the sight and decided that it wasn’t worth waking the others for something that didn’t really feel that dangerous. He turned and headed out the door.
Namjoon stomped through the snow, his large boots creating craters in the fluffy, white landscape. It was a quiet trek to where the invader had crossed over into pack land. The falling snow gave the world around him an almost eerily silent quality. As he got closer, the first thing he noticed was the smell of iron in the air. Blood.
Namjoon paused to sniff at the air. Other than the tangy scent of blood, there was nothing. He frowned. No human would be able to hide their smell. They all carried that distinctly filthy human scent no matter what they did to rid themselves of it. No. This intruder had to be a hybrid. It was a rare ability that some hybrids were able to do as a means of protection.
Namjoon’s eyes tracked the blood-stained footprints that led to the small pile of snow where you were huddled. Namjoon’s alpha huffed angrily, distraught at the sight of you huddled in the snow. The bottoms of your feet were bloody and raw. The clothes that clung to your tiny frame were thin, much too light for the snowstorm that blew around you. The snow had made the clothes damp and stick to your skin.
Namjoon moved closer, letting his alpha take over to sense for danger from your unmoving frame. The alpha whined and when some of your hair moved and bared your unmarked neck to him, he made up his mind. He pulled you up into his arms with ease.
The trek back to the house was just as quiet, even with your shallow breaths huffing against the alpha’s chest. Namjoon’s alpha was almost roaring with anger. He could not imagine anyone letting you out into this weather so unprepared for the harshness of the environment.
Normally, he would not just carry a newcomer into the pack house without a discussion, but it was clear that you could not move or stand on your own. He carried you into the house without a word. Six sets of eyes looked up at him and the limp body in his arms. He could sense the uneasiness of the other alphas in the pack. He could see the other alphas move slightly, shifting so that the other pack members were behind them and better protected.
“This little one accidentally wandered onto our land,” he said quietly. A drop of blood fell to the floor from the open wounds on your feet. Jin sprang to his feet. His omega instincts overtaking any sense of danger. If his alpha thought this little one was safe to bring inside, then he had to care for them.
You looked so small and fragile in the pack leader’s arms. Jin easily lifted you from the clutches of his alpha and carried you to the bathroom so that he could properly tend to your wounds. Namjoon felt the corners of his mouth twitch as he watched Jin fuss over you.
The rest of the pack laughed and began to relax once they heard Jin’s fast-paced rant about how thin your clothes were for the weather. “Jungkook! Go get me some warmer clothes for our guest. These are going in the trash. Completely inappropriate for the weather.” Jungkook nodded before sprinting up the stairs to obey the pack omega’s order.
Once your feet had been bandaged and you had been dressed in clean, warm clothes, Jin wrapped you in one of his favorite blankets and laid you on the rug in front of the roaring fire. His omega was finally starting to calm down now that you weren’t shivering or openly bleeding.
The pack stayed to watch over you for a little while before they began one by one to succumb to their own tiredness. Most of the pack retreated up the stairs to the pack nest to sleep for the night. Jungkook, the youngest member of the pack, had fallen asleep on the couch, his head near yours. Jin smiled at the sight.
He brushed some of the younger alpha’s loose hair from his face. “Wake us when the little one wakes up, Kookie,” he whispered before following the rest of his pack up the stairs to the nest for the night.
It was unbearably hot. You could feel the sweat dripping down your skin, making your clothes cling to your skin uncomfortably. You whimpered and blinked slowly, opening your eyes to observe your surroundings. The last thing you could remember was being so cold and surrounded by snow.
There was a fire burning in the hearth in front of you. It was apparently the source of the heat. You were no longer in the snow. You appeared to be on the floor of some cabin. It was warm and cozy. Something in the back of your mind told you that you were safe here. You sat up. The blankets that had been wrapped around you fell from your shoulders.
Your mind was fuzzy. You tried to collect your thoughts and ignore the things your wolf was telling you. What had you been doing? A sinking feeling filled your gut. You were being hunted. You had passed out while running away from your hunters. You couldn’t afford to linger in any one place for too long, or the hunters would catch you. You felt a shiver down your spine as you pictured what the hunters might do to you if they caught you.
Your lip quivered as you looked around in fear for any signs of life besides the fire burning in the hearth. Your eyes landed on an odd-shaped lump at one end of the sofa near where your head had just been. The lump seemed to be moving in a steady pattern like it was breathing. You gulped down the fear that had begun to rise and stood to inspect it. Pain shot through your bandaged feet, but you couldn’t think of that now. You searched around for a weapon and quickly grabbed the poker that lay by the hearth. With a shaky hand, you reached out and poked the lump.
The loud yelp that broke the quiet of the cabin made you drop the poker in surprise. The lump sat up and turned to stare at you with wide eyes. The big, doe eyes that stared into yours in shock didn’t seem to match the hardened body of the lump. His pink lips fell into a pout as he rubbed his back in the spot that you had poked.
There was a rustling sound above you. You looked up at the ceiling fearfully, which gave the lump time to stand up and grab the poker so that you couldn’t poke him again. You looked down to see him staring at your feet, the poker seemingly forgotten.
Those big, doe eyes were staring at your bandaged feet. You stared at them too. Someone had taken the time to wrap your feet after carrying you unconscious through the snow. You lifted your foot slightly and held it out to the lump.
“Wrap feet?” You asked in a wavering voice. Your question made the lump shake his head and retreat back to the false safety of the couch. A soft chuckle came from the shadows as a man emerged from the darkness. This one was smaller than the lump, but you could feel the power this one held. You fought back the submissive whimper that was threatening to escape.
There was something in the smaller man’s eyes that seemed to dance like the flames behind you. You wondered if it was just a reflection of the firelight or something more sinister. The new arrival approached the man on the sofa and brushed a few stray hairs from his face with an unexpected softness. The doe eyes looked up at him unexpectedly.
“You did such a good job, Kookie.” The smaller man’s voice was dark and soothing. You were overcome with desire to hear him say those words to you too. The one called Kookie blushed, and his nose twitched over the wrist of the smaller man. You were fiercely reminded of an adorable bunny rabbit. The smaller man turned back to you.
“Sorry if we frightened you, little one. How are you feeling? Do your feet still hurt?” You stared at the man, frozen in place, your surprise on your face. Surely, he was not asking you about your wellbeing. No one ever asked you about things like that before. The hunters didn’t care so long as you were still alive for them to collect their rewards. It felt weird.
“I’m Yoongi,” the man continued. “And this is Jungkook, but we call him Kookie. Our pack leader found you in the snow and brought you here.” You just continued to stare at the men, fear preventing you from answering, even if your wolf was telling you that it was safe. The last time you had spoken out of turn, the humans that hunted you had broken your arm. The man called Yoongi sighed and sat beside Jungkook on the couch. The latter quickly cuddled up next to him as his doe eyes remained fixed on you.
“Did you frighten our little guest, Yoongi-hyung?” A smooth deep voice from behind startled you, and you fell to the floor on your knees. The owner of this new voice, a tall, handsome man with tanned skin and devious eyes, stared down at your and chuckled darkly like he was remembering an inside joke.
You bit back another submissive whimper. You felt so overwhelmed by the power in the room. Your wolf wanted you to submit, but you couldn’t let these strange men know that you were a hybrid. They could kill you, or worse.
The tall one sniffed the air and broke into a devilish grin. “Can you smell it, hyung?” His voice stayed smooth and deep, but now there was also a hint of excitement. Yoongi responded with a simple nod. The tall one squatted down in front of you so he could see your face more clearly. Yoongi cleared his throat, a nonchalant noise that made you bow your head submissively without realizing it.
“Taehyung, leave the little one alone. You know that Namjoon will punish you if you misbehave.” The smirk that danced across Taehyung’s handsome face held no fear.
“Maybe I want him to punish me,” he said quietly as he walked over to the couch and sat on the other side of Jungkook.
You swallowed and looked at Yoongi. He was clearly the one in charge of those present. You gathered your courage. “Many you?” you asked, your voice shaky and timid. Yoongi smirked and leaned towards you.
“You do speak,” he said with a playful glint in his eyes. “In answer, little one, there are seven of us total in this pack.” Pack. Pack. You knew that world. Humans didn’t have packs. They thought it was a dirty word. Something primitive that only hybrids had nowadays.
“Pack.” The word slipped off your tongue before you could stop it. You clamped a hand over your mouth, horrified by what you had just done. Yoongi titled his head back slightly to look at you differently, a new softness in his gaze.
“Yes, baby. Pack. You know that word, don’t you? Do you have a pack that is missing you?” You tilted your head to the side, confused. Where you had come from, hybrids were not allowed to form packs. It was one of the humans’ favorite ways to keep the hybrids subjugated. Any hybrids attempting to start a pack would be arrested and forcefully separated from the other members of the pack. Though, truthfully, most hybrids did not live long enough to form a pack anyway.
“No pack,” you said with a mournful sigh as you stared at your bandaged feet. There was a loud tsk from behind you. You whipped around and found what must be another member of the pack standing there with a frown and downturned eyebrows. This one was also tall, and his shoulders were really broad. His eyes were trained on the three members of his pack that were seated on the couch as he continued to tsk in disappointment.
“Are you all on stupid pills?! Waking up in a room with one familiar alpha is frightening enough! You don’t need to scare the little one further by all being here and overwhelming them! And you didn’t even inspect their feet to ensure that the wounds are healing properly! Shameful!” He chastised the three on the couch in rapid fire, his words coming out almost like he was rapping. You fought back a smile at the sight.
He gave you a kind smile as he knelt beside you. Each of his movements were slow and calculated as if he was trying not to frighten you. He held out a hand. “Is it okay if I look at your feet? I want to make sure that they wounds have not become infected and are healing properly.” You nodded and shifted your position so that he could take one of your feet in his hands. He unwrapped it carefully, eyes occasionally flitting up to your face to make sure that you weren’t experiencing any discomfort as he worked.
As he cared for your wounded feet, three more men entered the room. One of them was huge and the intimidating aura that rolled from him told you immediately that this was the pack alpha. His presence had your wolf nearly whimpering with the need to submit. The other two were smaller and were engrossed in an argument as they entered.
“No. They cannot possibly be a hybrid. Any hybrid’s wolf would have taken over to protect them in that kind of situation,” argued the prettiest man you had ever seen. Each of his movements was like flowing water, and his plump lips were pulled into a pout as he spoke.
“You don’t know that they weren’t shifted before Joon found them. Maybe their wolf just couldn’t take it anymore,” retorted the other. His presence filled the room with a bright warmth and his smile reminded you of sunshine in spring.
The small, pretty one rolled his eyes dramatically. He opened his mouth to continue the argument but stopped when he saw you watching them carefully. He made a slight noise and flitted over to the tall, tan one.
The pack leader knelt down beside the kind one with broad shoulders as he finished caring for your feet. The leader’s big hands brushed through the other’s hair as if on instinct. You looked around, swallowing harshly when you noticed the leader’s position. He had purposefully put himself between you and the other members of his pack. He must think you were dangerous.
“I am Namjoon, and this is my pack. What is your name, little one?” The deep timbre of Namjoon’s voice resonated through you. It wasn’t a question. It was a command.
“No name,” you said quickly, compelled to answer by the alpha’s command. You might have had a name at one point, but it had been so long since you heard it, you no longer remembered it. You had no name and no pack. You had spent your whole life being hunted by the humans for sport. There was an unmistakable whimper of sympathy from several of the pack members.
The leader sighed heavily, his stance relaxing slightly. “No name and no pack. Why were you running barefoot through the snow? It’s dangerous to do that.” You looked down at your hands in shame.
“Scared,” you whispered. “Humans hunt me. Hurt me. I run away.” There were more whimpers from the pack. The leader’s expression softened, his bravado quickly melting away with each of your answers.
“You are safe here. No humans will hunt you on my land. You may stay here while you heal if you’d like. I just ask that while you stay here, you follow our pack rules.” You looked at Namjoon expectantly, wondering what sort of conditions he had for you to stay. He continued after a brief pause. “You may not go beyond the fence. That is the border of my land, and I cannot legally protect you past that point. If, when you are healed, you choose to leave, you may. You are not allowed to skip any meals. I can tell that you haven’t been fed properly in ages. Jin will fix that. He’s an excellent cook. And lastly, if you have any problems, I want you to come and talk to me. I will do everything I can to help you.”
You nodded. The rules seemed simple enough. Stay. Eat. Talk. You figured you could follow those orders while your feet heal. Your wolf felt safe here and you like that this was a pack of hybrids. You knew that talking would be the most difficult rule for you to follow. You weren’t exactly well educated, and there weren’t exactly many opportunities for conversations while you’re being hunted. Namjoon sighed and gave you a small smile.
The pack stared at you expectantly for a moment before Jungkook finally spoke up. “If the little one doesn’t have a name, what do we call them?” Jin shushed the younger male as he finished rewrapping your feet in fresh bandages. He set them down gently before flashing a false smile at you. Your feet were not healing as fast as they should be for a hybrid.
“Come on, Yoongi. Let’s make this pack some food. Our little one must be hungry,” Jin said with a cheerful tone. Your hand unconsciously rubbed over your empty stomach. You were starving but ensuring that you had food in your belly had never been terribly high on your list of priorities.
Jin and Yoongi stood and headed to the kitchen, walking in perfect sync. The rest of the pack crowded around you on the floor. Namjoon stayed by your side to make sure none of them got too close.
“Can we give you a name?” asked the pretty one. You learned that his name was Jimin. The tall one with the devilish glint in his eyes, Taehyung, gave Jimin’s shoulder a playful shove.
The one with doe eyes, Jungkook, stared at you, ignoring the ruckus his pack members were creating. He held out a hand towards you, eyes flicking towards his leader for approval as he did so.
“I’m Jungkook,” he said quietly, giving your hand a quick shake as you set it in his. You nodded.
“Jungkook,” you said softly, repeating his name to help you learn it. Even though you didn’t have a name, you knew that it was important to know the names of others. He beamed as you said his name out loud, shuffling a little closer as Jimin and Taehyung created more ruckus.
“Sorry if I scared you when you woke up earlier. I must have fallen asleep down here last night and only Namjoon-hyung is strong enough to carry me upstairs.” He spoke with such sincerity that any anger you had left from the incident vanished.
“Sorry poke,” you said with a small smile while you mimicked the stab motions. Jungkook giggled, a light musical sound that made your heart flutter, and shook his head.
“Don’t worry about it. I know you were just frightened. All hybrids do silly things when they’re scared. I probably would have done something much worse. Truthfully, it didn’t hurt. It just surprised me.”
Jimin pushed forward, almost knocking Jungkook over as he did so. “If you’re a hybrid, why didn’t you shift to protect yourself better?”
You looked at him curiously. “Shift?” You had never shifted before. You had heard that some hybrids were able to fully transform into their wolf form, but since you had never been able to do it, you just assumed that it wasn’t something that every hybrid could do.
The warm, sunshine one, Hoseok (or just Hobi) you would learn, smacked his palm to his forehead with a loud slap before grasping your hand tightly in his. “This poor baby doesn’t know anything about being a hybrid! Namjoon,” he turned to the pack leader with a serious expression. “We need to adopt them immediately and teach them how to be a good hybrid.”
Namjoon leaned back, much more relaxed now that he was sure you weren’t a threat to his pack, and chuckled. His smile formed crinkles around his eyes and deep dimples appeared on his cheeks. You looked at him in awe. He was so handsome. “Hobi,” he said, his deep voice light and unbothered. “Little one just got here. Let them heal and rest then we can worry about it.”
Hobi frowned and crossed his arms in fake anger. “Well, you’re no fun, Joon.” The group burst into laughter. Jimin launched himself forward and pinched Hobi’s cheeks, making them red in the soft glow of the fire.
“You all look like you’re bonding,” said a soft voice from the doorway behind you. The group stopped laughing and looked up at Yoongi with expectant eyes. They were all clearly hoping that Yoongi would announce that food was finally ready.
“Food is almost ready. Go get the smaller table and set it up in here. We’ll eat in front of the fire today.” Cheers erupted as the various members stood to follow Yoongi’s instructions. You stood too, unsure of what you should do to help.
Namjoon placed a heavy, but comforting hand on your shoulder. “You can sit and rest for now, little one. Let the pack handle things until you’re healed.” You nodded and sat back down to watch the pack bustle around.
The members of the pack bustled around. Jungkook and Namjoon carried in a small, but sturdy wooden table that Taehyung and Jimin quickly set with plates, bowls, and utensils. When the food was finished, Hobi helped Yoongi and Jin carry it from the kitchen. The food looked delicious, and you hadn’t even noticed the dribble at the corner of your mouth.
Jin pursed his lips quietly as they all sat around you. He reached out with a napkin and wiped at your drool before sitting next to you. There was a soft kindness in his eyes as he pampered you. “Now, little one, I know that you must be really hungry, but in this pack, the leader always eats first.”
You nodded and looked over at Namjoon. He smiled at you and took a big bite, signaling to the table that they could all eat now.
When you reached out with your hands, Jin made a small noise, but said nothing. It was clear to him that you didn’t know any better, but he’d be damned if you didn’t end up with at least some manners before you left, if you left. He spent the remainder of the meal feeding you bites of food. The others watched with great interest as Jin fed you.
Jungkook, who was seated on the other side of Jin, whimpered unexpectedly. Jin smiled and turned to the younger male. He cupped Jungkook’s face with his hands.
“Oh! Is our baby alpha jealous?” Jin asked with a coo. Jungkook’s eyes were wide as he nodded quickly. The group smiled at their youngest fondly. Jin smoothed his hair and fed him a few bites of food, which earned a frown from Namjoon. “Okay, Kookie, now be a grown alpha and eat by yourself. The little one doesn’t know how to eat properly so you have to be a good alpha and show them how to do it properly. You can do that, right baby?”
Jungkook nodded again and dug into his meal with new vigor. His eyes kept jumping over to you to make sure that you were watching him eat. He apparently took his new role very seriously.
When the meal was finished, all of the members stood and cleaned up with an easy division of the chores at hand. You wanted to help, but again you were unsure of what you should do. You reached out and tugged on Jin’s shirt. He looked at you as he gathered up some dishes.
He cooed when you gave him an adorable unsure look. “Oh, does our little one want to help too?” You nodded and made him coo again. He smoothed your hair with his free hand, like he had with Jungkook. “Don’t worry, little one. Just rest for today. Okay? Can you do that for me?” You nodded again as you felt the need to follow every order Jin gave you.
Jin smiled and carried the dishes to the kitchen for Taehyung to wash. With the whole pack working together, clean up didn’t take very long and soon they all piled back in front of the fire. When Jin took a seat beside Namjoon on the couch, you crawled over and sat at his feet. Jin felt the safest to you and he was so kind.
Namjoon looked down at you with a soft smile. “The little one likes you,” he said to Jin quietly. Jin smiled and nodded.
“Of course, they do! What’s not to like?” A snort from across the room made you all turn to look at the armchair across from the couch. Yoongi was chuckling into his hand. Hobi gave the alpha a soft slap on the shoulder from his place on Yoongi’s lap.
Jin glared at the pair, a silent warning to behave. They both fell silent quickly. Jin nodded in content and relaxed. His fingers carded through your hair absentmindedly. You felt a shaking in your chest and a strange sound filled the room. You pulled away from Jin in confusion, looking for the source of the sound.
Jin smiled and leaned forward to coo at you. “Oh, did you like that, little one? You were purring.” The other members of the pack were looking at you curiously, almost on edge. You leaned back and Jin resumed carding his fingers through your hair. It wasn’t long before you felt that shaking again and the strange sound started back up.
Jimin squealed in delight at this new discovery. He jumped up from his spot beside Taehyung and rushed over to you before swatting Jin’s hand away so he could run his own fingers through your hair. As he did so the shaking and sound continued. Jimin grinned, almost vibrating in glee.
Namjoon watched you interact with his pack with an amused smile. You seemed to be fitting in with them well. His thought about the future was interrupted though when the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He looked over at Yoongi and Taehyung for confirmation. Jungkook shifted in his seat uncomfortably. Namjoon stood, followed by Yoongi and Taehyung. Jin looked up at the pack alpha curiously.
Namjoon leaned over and gave Jin a quick kiss before he turned to Jungkook. “Stay here and keep the pack safe.” Jungkook nodded, a hard determination settling in his starry eyes. You watched in confusion as Namjoon led Yoongi and Taehyung out the door and into the gathering darkness. You stared at the door with furrowed brows.
Where were they going? Why did they go outside? You didn’t understand what was happening and you had no power to stop the whimper that escaped. Jin sighed softly and pulled you back from the door into his arms, cradling you closely so that you couldn’t escape. Jungkook gestured to the ceiling. Jin seemed to understand the alpha’s unspoken words and carried you upstairs.
Jimin and Hobi followed behind as Jin brought you into a room as big as the one downstairs. It was warm and cozy in the room. Most of the space was taken up with the large pile of blankets and pillows that had been bunched together and arranged in a specific way. This was clearly the pack’s nest.
Jin stared at the nest for a moment, hesitating for a moment before stepping over the border and carrying you right into the middle of the nest. He laid you out in the middle of the nest and curled around you protectively. Jimin and Hobi shared a confused look and a shrug before sitting on the edge of the nest, their eyes trained on the stairs as it was the only way to get up to get up to the nest. Jungkook was nowhere to be seen.
You whimpered and huffed with worry, struggling against Jin’s protective position. “Jungkook?” you asked Jin quietly, looking to him for answers to the many questions tumbling through your brain. Jin gave you a reassuring smile and smoothed your hair.
“He’s downstairs, little one. Namjoon felt someone trespass onto our land. He took Yoongi and Taehyung to check out the borders and make sure that we are all safe. Jungkook will stay downstairs in case something goes wrong.”
You whimpered louder and tried harder to wiggle free from Jin’s grasp. He held onto you tighter. You didn’t understand why he was stopping you from running away. It was clear to you who was trespassing. You knew that it was the humans who were hunting you, and now, because of you, the whole pack was in danger. You had to leave and lead the humans away from them. Jin tightened his grip on you and shifted his weight, so you were almost beneath him in an effort to keep you still as you continued to whimper.
Hobi sighed, unable to stand the sound of your whimpers, and turned to help Jin soothe you. He carded his fingers through your hair while Jin held you. “It’s okay, little one. You are safe here. We will protect you.”
You shook your head. You didn’t deserve to be comforted or protected. You had endangered the pack that had been so kind to you. “Save. Pack,” you gasped as you continued to struggle in Jin’s embrace. Hobi’s smile was gentle and kind as he looked down at you.
“Stay still, little one. You don’t have to leave to save the pack. We are all very strong. Much stronger than the humans who were hunting you. We can protect you and the pack easily. Staying here is the best thing you can do right now. Besides, Jin-hyung will get fussy if you keep trying to escape.”
You whimpered again but stopped struggling to escape from Jin’s arms. You felt him relax a little as the fight left your body. Hobi kept carding his fingers through your hair. Soon your eyes felt too heavy to keep open.
Time seemed to pass slowly for the pack as they waited for the return of the other alphas. Finally, the door opened below, and the pack felt a sense of relief that could only mean that their alphas were back. There were footsteps on the stairs, and Namjoon appeared with the other alphas following closely behind. Namjoon paused when he saw you sleeping in Jin’s embrace at the center of the pack nest.
Jin didn’t let just anyone into his nest. Only pack. Even the other members of the pack had not been allowed in on the first day. Namjoon shook his head subtly and stepped into the nest to curl up beside Jin. The remainder of the pack crawled into the nest, curling around each other protectively. You snuggled further into Jin’s chest, hand gripping his shirt tightly in your sleep.
Namjoon kissed Jin’s cheek as he snuggled closer to his mate, nosing at the scent gland on his neck. Jin huffed indignantly as he tried to push Namjoon back a bit. “Be careful or you’ll wake my little one,” he hissed when Namjoon grumbled.
“I think the intruders were the humans that were hunting our little one,” Namjoon whispered against Jin’s neck. “They were over on that side of the property and they were following little one’s footprints. Thankfully, the snow had already covered most of them. We scared them off so hopefully the humans won’t come back this way.”
Jin huffed again, his grip on you tightening protectively. “Little one is pack, Joon. We have to keep them safe.” Namjoon nodded and pressed a kiss to Jin’s scent gland.
“I know, baby. You only let pack into your nest. Took you weeks to let Yoongi into your nest at the beginning. But if little one was meant to be pack, maybe that’s why I felt compelled to bring them here when I found them. However, we need to be careful. We can’t force them into the pack if they don’t want to be.” Jin frowned and looked down at your face as you slept. You were part of his pack, and he would do whatever it took to keep you safe.
Morning came and you opened your eyes slowly. You were still tightly wrapped in Jin’s embrace. You felt safe and warm for the first time in your life. You never wanted to get up. What if this was all some cruel dream? Was this what being in a pack was actually like? No wonder the humans were so against hybrids forming packs.
There was movement behind you, distracting you from your thoughts. You twisted around in Jin’s arms the best that you could without disturbing him.
Jungkook was laying there, those big doe eyes watching you closely. There was a glimmer of something in the depths of his eyes, jealousy perhaps. He didn’t say anything, but you could sense the questions in his gaze.
Jin’s arms tightened around you protectively as your movements roused him from sleep. He pulled you flush against his chest and stared into Jungkook’s eyes. “Little one is part of the pack now, Kookie.” Jin’s voice was still raspy with sleep. Jungkook nodded at the older man and moved to leave the nest. A whimper broke through the quiet morning air.
The other members of the pack were roused by the noise. Jin chuckled and nuzzled your cheek softly. “My little one doesn’t want you to leave the nest yet, baby.” Jungkook frowned at you and the way Jin interacted with you but sat down without a word. There was now clear jealousy in his gaze as he watched Jin fawn over you.
Namjoon sat up and yawned with a stretch. He cleared his throat and the rest of the pack turned to look at their leader. Most of them, except for you and Jin, sat up with their eyes on their leader. Jin was too busy cuddling you for either of you to sit up with the others. Namjoon watched the two of you fondly for a moment before returning to the matter at hand.
“Alright, Jin wants to add the little one to our pack. I know that this is rather quick and honestly a bit unusual, but we are going with it. Are there any of you who are opposed to this for reasons other than jealousy that Jin isn’t coddling them anymore because they’re a full grown alpha and don’t need to be babied?” He looked directly at Jungkook as he said the last part. Jungkook shuffled nervously as he looked away, his face a glowing pink color.
Jimin crawled over to where you were sitting on Jin’s lap and pulled you from Jin’s grasp gently. “I’m fine with it. I like having little one around. They are so cute!” He nuzzled into your neck, his nose brushing the underside of your jaw. You felt a jolt down your spine.
You pushed away in fear at the new sensation and tried to crawl from the nest on the far side away from the pack. Jin sighed and grabbed the back of your shirt with ease, tugging you back to sit beside him. This way you were close enough to grab if you tried to run again but far enough that you had some space to yourself. He turned and glared at Jimin.
“Little one has never been scented before. They don’t know anything about packs or being cared for. You need to be more careful with them until they learn!” Jimin hung his head slightly, a pout forming on his plump lips at Jin’s scolding.
“I’m sorry, little one. I didn’t mean to scare you like that. I just scent when I’m happy.” He looked at you, silently begging for your forgiveness. You tilted your head in question.
“What scent?” Jin gave an overly dramatic sigh at your question and pulled you back onto his lap. He pressed his cheek to your hair as his dramatics continued. You weren’t really sure what was going on, but you knew Jin was being silly.
Namjoon gave a small sigh accompanied by his dimpled smile. “Scenting is something us hybrids do when we are close to other hybrids. We do it for several reasons. It could be, like Jimin said, if we are happy. Or it can be a greeting. Or if we are stressed and need to calm down. All sorts of reasons really.” You nodded and turned your head to run your nose along the underside of Jin’s jaw, like Jimin had done to you.
Jin’s ears turned red, followed by his handsome face. Namjoon chuckled at his mate’s reaction to your scenting. You looked around at the others, still very confused. You didn’t understand how this could be comforting for anyone, but you figured it was just another part of you that was broken.
You looked at Jimin for confirmation that you had done it correctly. He gave you an approving nod with a soft smile that quickly fell when he saw the confusion in your eyes. “Can you not smell him, little one?” he asked, a new uneasiness in his voice.
You shook your head. You were supposed to be able to smell him? What were you supposed to smell about him? When you were born your nose had been sharp, picking through smells with acute accuracy, but over time, the smell of the world around you had dulled to nothing. Now you were never able to smell things.
The pack stared at you with a mixture of puzzlement and worry. How could you know so little about your own species? What had the humans done to you that had traumatized you so badly?
Yoongi looked over at Namjoon, tearing his eyes from you with difficulty, a serious look in his dark eyes. “Little one might have to shift again before they can smell or perhaps even become a full pack member before they can smell us.” Namjoon nodded at Yoongi’s theory. Both of those options presented difficulties.
While they wanted you to be a member of the pack, they barely knew you and you barely knew them. They had to court you before any discussion of initiation could even begin. Jin saying you were pack was not enough to make you a full member of the pack.
The shifting posed a different problem. It was becoming increasingly clear to them that you knew very little about your own species. And since you weren’t shifted when Namjoon had found you told him that your wolf likely didn’t even know how to do it at all, even in extreme circumstances.
The pack sat in still silence for a moment. Jungkook was the first to move, shifting from the edge of the nest. His expression was unreadable as he approached you slowly. Was he angry? Curious? You weren’t really sure. He stopped right in front of you, his eyes boring into your own, silently asking you for permission. You nodded, compelled to grant his alpha permission for whatever he wanted in that moment.
Jungkook leaned forward and scented you, inhaling deeply as his nose brushed over your skin. The jolt ran through you again, but now you were able to realize that it was a pleasant feeling. Jungkook pulled away with hazy eyes, and you couldn’t stop the whimper that slipped out.
The pack smiled at you fondly, endeared by your reaction to the young alpha’s actions. Jungkook sat back on his heels, the hazy look still in his eyes. “Little one smells like fire, warm and safe,” he said with a slight slur. You stared at him, leaning closer to him as you wondered if he was going to scent you again.
Jungkook seemed to read your mind. He gave you a dopey smile and took your wrists in his strong hands. You could feel the strength and power in them as he held you gently. A warmth pooled in your stomach. He brushed his nose against the delicate skin of your wrists as he inhaled deeper than before.
A shudder ran through Jungkook’s body, and he seemed to slump into a daze as his muscles relaxed. You hadn’t felt a jolt this time, but you felt calm and happy at his reaction. The young alpha’s head drooped, and you directed it to your lap under the watchful eyes of the pack that surrounded you.
You carded your finger’s through Jungkook’s long hair, as Jin had done for you the night before, marveling at the softness of the locks beneath your touch. Jin nodded, a small smirk on his lips as he mentally took notes of the interaction. A loud rumble broke through the quiet that had settled over the nest. You flushed a dark red when you realized that the sound had come from you.
Jin chuckled and moved to get up, scooting you forward just a bit so that you were sitting in the nest instead of on his lap. Before he could step out of the nest, you whimpered. You didn’t want anyone to leave the nest. It was warm and safe here. No one should leave. It wasn’t safe out there.
Jin turned back to you with an endeared smile. “I can tell that you’re hungry, little one. The others are too. I have to make everyone something to eat, okay?” You looked around at the others before nodding and letting everyone finally exit the nest until it was just you and Jungkook left in the nest.
“Jungkook.” Namjoon’s deep voice resonated through the young alpha, calling for him before the older alpha disappeared down the stairs. Jungkook lifted his head slowly, his gaze still completely hazed over. He stood and offered you his hand, which you gratefully took. He kept a gentle grip on your hand as you stood. He paused at the top of the stairs, his fingers on his free hand twitching slightly, before leading you down the stairs to the kitchen where Jin and Yoongi were cooking breakfast for the pack.
Jungkook directed you over to the table and sat you in an empty chair, the haze finally beginning to clear from his eyes. He moved to go help the others, but you clung to his hand tighter than before, suddenly afraid that he was leaving. Jungkook made a small noise that made Yoongi look up from the stove.
“It’s fine, Kookie. Stay there and keep our little one happy. We can handle it.” The younger one nodded and sat in the chair beside yours. You smiled down at your locked hands. There was something so comfortable about his hand. You liked it. It made you feel safe. Your hands were so much smaller than his. You let go of his hand to cradle it in both of yours. He watched you silently as you studied his palm for a moment before you brought it to your face to rub against it.
Jungkook’s expression was a mixture of emotions as you rubbed your face against his hand. It wasn’t anger or jealousy in his gaze but something else. Something you didn’t quite understand. You had no clue the implications of what you were doing.
The other members watched the interaction with various expressions, some fond and some jealous. You couldn’t even really explain what had come over you to make you do it. The sense of safety you felt around these strange men after just one day was making your head spin. You couldn’t think clearly so you fell into your instincts, letting your wolf make more decisions than usual.
Breakfast passed quickly with Jin once again feeding you, but this time, Jungkook didn’t seem to mind the pack omega taking care of you. After you had finished rubbing your face on his hand, he had placed it firmly on your thigh, where it was still located. There was something both thrilling and comforting about the placement of his hand. The weight of it was grounding and your wolf was thrilled about it.
After breakfast, Jin allowed you to help clear the table by carrying the dishes over to Taehyung at the sink. You bounced with each step, thrilled to actually be doing something to help the pack instead of just watching them do all the work.
The pack watched you bounce around the kitchen fondly. The small chirps of happiness that escaped as you helped made it increasingly clear to them that you had been what their little pack had been missing. None of them had even thought to question the sense of longing buried deep within them before, but now they knew that you had been what was missing.
Namjoon watched you excitedly carry each dish and hand it to Taehyung at the sink with a shy smile. His eyes tracked your movements closely as his mind churned. Was it because you were meant to be pack that he had sensed you in the snow? Was fate what had brought you to them after all this time? He couldn’t explain what had compelled him to bring you to his pack. Your eyes met and he grinned, those deep dimples making an appearance and making your face flush and heart flutter.
When breakfast had been cleaned up, Jin took you to the bathroom to wash your face and check that your feet were healing well. Each movement he made was careful as he made sure to be extra gentle with you. Your feet were healing quite well, better than any other wound you’d previously had. You wondered if it was because you were safe or if it was just the food and rest.
Once you were cleaned up, he dressed you in clean clothes that consisted of an oversized pair of sweatpants and a hoodie that fell to your knees. You giggled and lifted the hoodie to rub your cheek on it. You’d never had clothing that was so soft.
You moved to climb back into the nest for a nap, a wave of tiredness washing over you now that you were clean and your belly full. Jin chuckled and followed you into the nest. He sat beside you as you wiggled around looking for the most comfortable spot to lay down. “I’ll let you lay in the nest if you promise to stay awake during your lesson.”
“Lesson?” you asked curiously as you snuggled yourself further into the soft comfort of the nest. Jin smiled down at your adorable actions, his fingers carding through your hair as it fanned out around your head like a halo.
“Yes, little one. I am going to give you lessons on how to be a hybrid. Today we will start simple with pack dynamics and hierarchy.” Your head began to buzz as you struggled to focus on what he was saying and not the feeling of his fingers in your hair. Jin continued. “Packs are made up of any combination of alphas, betas, and omegas.” You stared up at him with wide eyes, already feeling overwhelmed.
Jin gave you a kind smile. One that held no anger or judgement. “I can see that you don’t know those terms. That’s okay, baby. I will teach you. Alphas are the protectors of the packs. They are generally the strongest members of the pack and usually the pack leader is an alpha, but not always. In our pack Namjoon, Yoongi, Taehyung, and Jungkook are the alphas. They are the providers and protectors of the pack. Namjoon is also our pack leader. His word is law in our pack, and he can make all pack members obey his commands. But don’t worry, he won’t ever do anything to take away your free will. He’s secretly a big softie when it comes to his pack. He’s only mean to outsiders. Following me so far?”
You nodded and Jin continued. “Great! You’re doing such a good job for me, little one.” Your face flushed scarlet. “Let’s keep going. Next up in the hierarchy are the betas. They are a more neutral member of the pack and can have traits that are generally associated with alphas or betas. Since they do not experience heats or ruts, it is easier for them to blend into the human population. A lot of packs will use that to their advantage and send the pack betas out to work and run errands. Hobi and Jimin are the betas in our pack. They are the mediators and keep the pack in balance.”
“What heat and rut?” you asked, eyes wide and innocent. You had never heard terms like that before. Jin tapped the end of your nose with his finger.
“I’ll go over that in a little bit. Okay, little one?” You nodded and allowed him to continue his lecture on pack hierarchy. “And last, but certainly not least are the omegas. Omegas are the caretakers of the pack. I am the omega in this pack. Namjoon also calls be the pack omega even though I’m the only one. In some bigger packs, they will have lots of omegas, so they have a pack omega who is in charge of all the other omegas. The pack omega is usually the mate of the pack leader, like I am Namjoon’s mate. As the pack omega, I take care of the health and well-being of the pack. I also take care of the house and the meals. I bandage them up when they are hurt. I help the alphas through their ruts a bit more than the betas since I can take more. Also, omegas are the only ones who can carry pups should a pack decide to have them.”
Pups. You hadn’t heard that term in such a long time. You had been a pup once. That part of your memory had long been beaten from you though. You tried to run over all of the information that Jin had given you in your head. “What me?” you asked with a pout. You had no idea which one of those three you might be, though based on his description you assumed. You had never even spent a prolonged period of time around other hybrids before this.
Jin smiled and brushed his fingers over your cheek gently, an unassuming yet intimate gesture. “I don’t know, little one. I have a guess, but I don’t want to sway things if you haven’t actually presented yet.”
You pouted, looking up at Jin with wide eyes. You really wanted to know what you were, but if Jin didn’t know then how could he possibly tell you what you were? He ruffled your hair gently. “Okay, little one, if you think you can stay awake a little longer, we can go over ruts and heats really quickly.”
You nodded and allowed Jin to continue your lesson. “A rut is the alpha’s mating cycle. This is when their mind will become overwhelmed with the biological need to mate and breed.” A realization dawned on your face.
“Like sex,” you said bluntly. Jin’s face and ears turned bright red, but he nodded slowly.
“Yes. It’s like sex, but if the alpha in rut doesn’t pop their knot at least once during the first 48 hours of their rut, it will become excruciatingly painful for them. The knot swells and locks them in place with whoever they are mated with or breeding or whoever is just helping them through the rut. This is simply to give them the best chance at successful breeding. Alphas also become extremely possessive and territorial over their mates during their ruts. In our pack, Jungkookie is the only one without a mate yet, but that doesn’t mean too much in our pack. We share everything in this pack, including the responsibility of taking care of the rutting alphas. Our alphas are all on the same cycle, and that would be too much for just me to take care of alone. The alphas in our pack shouldn’t have a rut for a few more months though. Now, heats. They are a bit more complicated. Heats will usually build gradually, some as slow as taking several days to build up and others going as fast as just a few hours. As the omega, we are filled with an almost burning sensation as the heat builds. The only thing that can quell the burn is an alpha’s knot. Heats are when the omega is the most fertile. Often in packs with mated pairs the heats and ruts will synchronize. But in unmated pairs it’s common for an omega’s heat to be so intense that it triggers the alpha’s rut.”
Jin paused when he heard footsteps on the stairs. You both turned to find Yoongi yawning as he crawled into the nest. He curled around you and closed his eyes without a word. Jin rolled his eyes at the alpha’s behavior. You looked at Yoongi’s sleeping figure curled around you protectively. You wanted to curl up and sleep more too. You felt so safe and warm, and your eyes were beginning to feel heavy.
Jin brushed some of the stray strands of hair from your face. “You can sleep, little one. I can tell that you’re tired.” You yawned and curled further into Yoongi. It wasn’t long before you were fast asleep beside him.
Jin sighed as he descended the stairs. Namjoon chuckled at the annoyed look on his mate’s face. “I take it that Yoongi interrupted your lesson with the little one?” Jin nodded and flopped into Namjoon’s embrace.
“That poor baby,” Jin said quietly. “Little one doesn’t even know their presentation, Joonie. Those humans traumatized our little one. I’m worried that it might be so bad that it negatively affects their health.” Namjoon nodded and kissed Jin’s cheek softly.
“May I ask you a question, love? Without you being angry?” Jin raised an eyebrow but stayed silent, so Namjoon continued. “Why did you bring the little one into the nest last night? You could have just hidden them in the corner.” Namjoon spoke carefully, choosing each word with caution so as to not upset his precious omega. Jin stuck out his bottom lip in a thoughtful pout.
“I just knew that little one was pack. It felt right. I didn’t even really think about it. We were in danger, and I needed to keep little one safe with me in the nest.” Namjoon nodded with a small smile. Jin had been the first one to know with each member of the pack. If Jin knew little one would be pack, Namjoon didn’t doubt that they would.
“Do you think our little one is an omega like you?” Namjoon asked casually. Jin gave the alpha an incredulous look before nodding and snuggling into the alpha’s chest. He knew Namjoon would be heading out for the day shortly. Taehyung had left right after finishing the breakfast dishes, and he was sure Yoongi would leave after his morning nap.
“I guess we should probably start the courting process soon. If we want them to become an official part of the pack, they will need to be courted before they’re bitten.” Jin nodded. He knew Namjoon would never dream of bypassing the centuries old customs for adding pack members.
“I need to head to work soon,” Namjoon said quietly, no conviction in his voice. Jin didn’t move. Namjoon sighed and lifted Jin off of him. “Take good care of the Little One, my omega.” Jin shivered. Nothing affected him more than Namjoon’s possessive alpha behavior. He loved it.
An hour later, Namjoon had left for work. Jin and Jimin were doing laundry while Hobi and Jungkook were cleaning the house. Jin heard light steps on the stairs and rushed to see who it was. He couldn’t hide the disappointment on his face when Yoongi plodded into view still rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
He huffed at the omega. “Sorry to disappoint you with my presence, hyung.” Jin shook his head, a little worried that Yoongi was serious. When he caught the playful glint in the alpha’s eyes, he relaxed.
“Is our little one still asleep?” Yoongi nodded as he gathered up his bag for work. Hobi bounded over to give his mate a kiss goodbye before he left the house. Jin looked up at the ceiling. He wondered if he should let you sleep or wake you up.
“Let the little one sleep, hyung.” Jin looked over at Yoongi. “They had a few fits while sleeping so I’m not sure how well they’re rested.” Jin nodded and went back to his chores while Yoongi headed out for work.
When you opened your eyes, you found yourself alone in the nest. You weren’t sure how long you’d been asleep, and a crushing sense of loneliness and abandonment rushed over you, overwhelming any rational thought in your brain. Whimpering sobs spilled from your lips in a rush. Why had they left you all alone? Had they abandoned you?
With the first notes of your cries, there was a loud bang from the room below and a rush of footsteps coming up from the stairs. Jin and Jungkook stood just outside the nest with identical panicked expressions. When they saw you crying, they both rushed to your side. Jin reached out to how you, but Jungkook’s arms wrapped around you first.
The young alpha pulled you flush against him so you could lay your head on his shoulder as he held you. Jin watched the interaction closely. He had never seen Jungkook act so protective over anyone before. As the youngest member of the pack, Jungkook had spent most of his time being coddled and babied, usually by Jin. Jin pursed his lips for a moment before his expression relaxed. He reached out to smooth your hair as a way to soothe you.
“Tell me what is wrong, little one? Let me fix it and make it all better,” Jin said, his voice soft and gentle. He had to figure out what had triggered such a reaction in you to make sure that it never happened again. You were in his nest. This was a safe place. He would never let a member of his pack feel like this in his nest.
You whimpered again and nuzzled into Jungkook, scenting him even though you couldn’t smell him. You felt that jolt, and his arms tightened around you. Even if the scenting wasn’t affecting you, it was certainly affecting him.
Jin waited patiently for you to answer his question. Finally, you looked over at him once the tears had stopped. “Alone. Scared,” you said quietly. Jin pet your head softly as you answered.
“Good job for telling me, little one. You are doing so good for me. Don’t worry. You won’t ever have to be alone if you don’t want to be. Are you hungry? It’s time to make lunch. If you like, Jungkook will carry you downstairs so you can watch me.”
You nodded. Jin and Jungkook stood up and Jungkook pulled you up into his arms and wrapped your legs around his waist. You let your head rest on his shoulder again as he followed Jin to the kitchen. He set you on the counter so you could watch Jin cook, but when he tried to move away, you clung to him. Jungkook gave you a small smile and stayed between your legs, one hand rubbing your back soothingly while you both watched Jin make lunch.
Jimin and Hobi entered the kitchen shortly before lunch and began to set the table. Neither of them seemed the least bit disturbed by how tightly you were clinging to their young alpha. You turned your gaze to them, watching their practiced movements as they set out the plates and side dishes.
You whimpered when you realized that some of the pack was missing. You craned your neck to see if they were hiding. Jin smiled when he realized what you were doing. “Don’t worry, little one. They are working. They’ll be back for dinner.” You pouted with a huff and buried your face in Jungkook’s chest.
Hobi chuckled sweetly at your cuteness. “Little one sure does like to be snuggled up, huh. They must really like you, Jungkook. Alphas are notoriously hard to trust so it’s unusual for a new pack member to snuggle up to an alpha that isn’t theirs so easily.” You and Jungkook huffed indignantly at the same time as you gripped Jungkook’s shirt tightly.
Jimin sighed. “Stop teasing our babies, Hobi. They can cling to whoever they want. We’re all pack. You know that. Now let’s eat. I’m starving!”
Lunch was a quiet affair. Jungkook kept you on his lap while everyone ate, occasionally feeding you bites from his plate instead of having you try to feed yourself. Jin looked like he was about to burst with pride as he watched Jungkook take care of you.
After lunch, Jungkook carried you out to the main room. You curled into him on the sofa while Jimin and Hobi curled up in the armchairs, their noses in books almost immediately. Jin sat at the other end of the sofa and restarted your lessons from this morning. You found his lecture to be a bit long-winded and uninteresting but having Jungkook there with you, his nose by your neck and his fingers tracing designs on your thigh, made it much more tolerable.
When the remaining alphas returned from their work for the day, you sat up eagerly. They all smiled at the sight of you. Taehyung slapped his hand to his mouth to cover his laugh. He could have sworn he could see your tail wagging in excitement.
Namjoon went around and greeted each of his pack members, starting with Jin, with a quick scenting before stopping in front of you. He had scented everyone else without pause, but he hesitated in front of you. You looked up at him with a pout, confused about why he had stopped. “Is it okay if I scent you, little one? Since you are kind of part of our pack now?” You nodded and Namjoon leaned forward carefully to brush the tip of his nose against the sensitive skin of your throat.
The contact made your skin warm. The heat crept up your cheeks, covering them in a deep layer of blush. Several of the pack members (mostly Jin) bit back a coo as they watched your reaction to their pack leader’s scenting.
Your nose twitched as spice overwhelmed your senses. You weren’t sure what it was exactly, but it felt comfortable and safe. You leaned into it, almost chasing it as Namjoon pulled away.
Jin watched your reactions with a devilish glint in his eye. A grin twisted on his lips as he watched your nose twitch, and you chase after Namjoon as he pulled away. He could tell your nose was being flooded with Namjoon’s spicy cider alpha scent. It was powerful and overwhelming when you first smell it before lulling you into it’s safety.
The pack watched you closely as you tried to figure out what was happening to you. They had to make sure that you wouldn’t go scent dumb. Jungkook had been close to being scent dumb upon scenting you for the first time this morning, and while the pack knew how to pull their baby alpha from the stupor, they figured you would be much harder to rouse.
Once the overwhelming spicy scent had calmed down, more smells came flooding in. Your head spun as your nose was drowned in the scents of your new pack. You turned to Jin first. There was syrupy, sweet scent coming from him. It was soft and comforting. It mingled and mixed with Namjoon’s spice perfectly.
Taehyung shifted from his spot in the corner, unconsciously spreading his smell even further. The heavy musk scenting the air with its earthy aroma. You leaned toward it, drawn in by the smell that made you feel so fuzzy inside.
Jimin’s scent was the next to hit you. A soft citrusy floral scent that smelled just like he looked, soft and pretty. It was barely noticeable next to Taehyung’s heavy scent, and you wondered if that was because Jimin was a beta.
“Little one,” Yoongi called out to you. You whipped your head around and were greeted with new scents. Yoongi’s scent hit you first. Like Taehyung’s scent, it was deep and earthy. It brought to your mind the rain, soft drops splattering to the earth.
The next scent felt like summer sunshine on your skin, bright and warm. You knew instantly that it belonged to Hobi. His scent washed over you, bringing you a sense of calm and some mental clarity that you hadn’t even realized you had lost.
The final scent, belonging to the alpha whose lap you were sitting on, was surprisingly soft and warm. It was different from the other alphas. It was like soft cotton blankets, wrapping you in their protective embrace. You twisted around and brushed your nose against Jungkook’s scent gland. You wanted to drown in his scent.
Jungkook whimpered slightly, shifting uncomfortably beneath you a little. A new scent rose through the air in response to Jungkook’s whimpers. It burned, fiery and strong, leaping through the air like sparks. Jungkook leaned in, about the return the favor and scent you, but Jin held him back with a stern look.
The pack watched you absorb their scents in silence, smirks twisting at the corners of the alphas’ mouths whenever your eyes began to go hazy from their scent. Only an omega would react to an alpha’s scent like that.
As the scents intermingled and imprinted themselves on your mind, you felt a new sense of peace and belonging. A smile tugged at your lips and giggles fell from you excitedly. You had never felt so whole or safe before. This was your pack.
“Can smell!” you shrieked excitedly, bouncing slightly on Jungkook’s lap as you spoke. Jungkook’s hand went to your waist to steady you as Namjoon chuckled and leaned over to smooth your hair gently.
“That means you were meant to be in our pack, little one.” You looked up at the pack leader with wide eyes. Without warning you jumped up into Namjoon’s arms, your nose rubbing furiously against his scent gland. Your senses were flooded with his comforting spice. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath.
Jin leapt forward to try to stop you, but it was too late. Your head began to spin as the pack leader’s spice wrapped you in the safety of its scent. Your body felt heavy. You started shaking as your body felt heavier and heavier. Namjoon released you gently as Jungkook rose to his feet, ready for what would happen next. You fell to the floor, reaching out to stop yourself, but you couldn’t grab anything.
Your body was changing as you fell. Where your hands had been there were now paws. As you hit the floor, you were no longer in a human form. The pack stared down at your wolf with mixed expressions. Jimin looked so proud, almost as if he was a boiling tea kettle of pride and excitement.
Namjoon knelt beside you with a soft smile. “Look at you, little one. You learned how to shift to protect yourself. You’ve done such a good job. I’m so proud of you, baby.” Your tail began to wag in response.
Hobi let out a little squeak. Yoongi chuckled at his mate’s response. “Little one is such a cute pup,” he said, a special fondness in his tone. You looked up at him curiously. Were you only cute as a wolf? You found that you wanted them to always think you were cute. You huffed indignantly, making the pack chuckle fondly.
The one who looked the most upset was Jin, who was picking up some shreds of material. In the more human part of your brain, the scraps looked familiar, but your wolf brain wouldn’t let you focus on it for long. You licked Jin’s cheek, hoping it would make him smile. He did smile as his face burned red. The color spread down his neck and to his ears. You sat back with a satisfied smirk.
Jungkook patted the top of your head affectionately. “Wolf was making sure our little one didn’t go scent dumb,” he said quietly, more to you than to the whole pack. You stared at him curiously. He smiled at you, the stars in his eyes sparkling in a way that made your heart flutter. “But it’s safe now, little one. You can change back.”
You whimpered when you realized that you didn’t know how to change back. Jin cooed at you softly and sat on your other side. “It’s okay, little one. We’ll help you.” Jin’s face was still red, but it had lessened a bit. “Now, I want you to think about being human. Think about your human body and how it feels to be in it.” You nodded and concentrated.
It took you a few hours to figure out how to change back, even with your pack’s instructions. Once you had successfully turned back into your human form, you moved to crawl back onto Jungkook’s lap again. You missed the warmth and comfort of it. Jungkook’s eyes went wide as his eyes raked over you hastily before he quickly looked away. You tried to keep moving forward but Jungkook held you at arm’s length while looking at the ceiling. You whimpered and turned back to Jin for an answer.
Jin didn’t look at you as he spoke, but his face was bright red again. “When you shift back, little one, you don’t have any clothes on. We just need to get you dressed again and then Kookie will snuggle you.” Jin’s voice was soft and kind as he spoke. You looked at the rest of the pack. None of them seemed to have any issues staring at you.
Yoongi’s eyes were glued to you as Jin helped you up. You could have sworn that Namjoon had hastily wiped away some drool from his chin. Jimin licked his lips subconsciously as his eyes raked over your body. There was a dark glint in Hobi’s eyes that would have frightened you, but you found it making you warm instead.
Jin pulled a blanket from the couch to wrap around you. Taehyung growled low in his throat as your body disappeared behind the fuzzy blanket, but he stayed where he was. You moved to go back to Jungkook’s lap once again, but Jin lifted you up and away toward the stairs. He carried you up the stairs under the extremely watchful eyes of the other pack members, minus Jungkook who was still looking pointedly away.
Jin sat you on the edge of the nest as he gathered up some clothes for you to wear. Within minutes you had been dressed in a large hoodie that smelled like Namjoon. You lifted the collar to your nose with a small smile. The hoodie was large enough to fall to your knees, so Jin didn’t see any reason to force you into pants at the moment. However, he did insist on covering your feet in soft fluffy socks that were clearly his.
Once you were deemed decent enough, you both headed back downstairs to the rest of the pack. Six heads turned to you and the room fell silent as you descended. Namjoon let out an appreciative growl when he saw you in his hoodie, his chest swelling in pride as his alpha roared. ‘Pretty omega. Our pretty omega. Omega in our scent.’ Namjoon had always been very possessive over his pack, and he loved seeing them in his clothes.
He stepped forward and pulled you from Jin’s grasp, leading you back over to the sofa. As he sat, he pulled you down with him, so that you were seated on his lap. You smiled and sat on his lap with your back against his chest, your legs hanging over the outside of his.
Jin took the seat directly across from where you sat on Namjoon’s lap and immediately regretted not making you wear pants. With the way you were sitting on Namjoon’s lap, most of the pack could see right up the sweatshirt and since you weren’t wearing anything underneath it, you might as well have been naked again.
Namjoon nuzzled your neck, his tongue poking out to lap at your scent gland. You whimpered at the sensation. It felt so good. Jungkook tugged at your hand to get your attention back from the pack leader. You looked over at him with wide eyes. Jungkook’s eyes dilated in response, his tongue darting out to wet his lips as he stared at you. His nose twitching as your scent filled the room.
Taehyung was also staring, but not at your face. His eyes were flued to the sight beneath Namjoon’s oversized hoodie, transfixed by the sight. Yoongi’s self-control was the first to break. He slid from his seat to crawl towards you.
Jin sniffed the air as the temperature spiked. He groaned, immediately recognizing the signs. He looked at the betas for help, but they seemed just as affected as the alphas. He snapped his fingers to get their attention. Both shook their heads as their eyes refocused.
“Little one is about to go into heat. We need to prepare the nest before our dear alphas mount them here in the living room. I’m also going to take a wild guess that this will be our little one’s first heat. I know that we all normally participate, but this time the three of us will be staying out of it to keep everyone safe.” Jimin and Hobi nodded, fighting their instincts to listen to the omega’s orders. The alphas were very quickly succumbing to your scent, and they had to move fast.
Yoongi had reached your knees, his hot breath fanning across your thighs as he tried to nose his way into your core. Namjoon pushed away the smaller, eager alpha with his foot as he continued to lap at your scent gland like a starved man. He could smell himself on you now, and it was starting to make him hard with want. Jungkook buried his face in your lap, his sensitive nose easily picked up on the scent of the slick that was beginning to build there. Taehyung joined Yoongi on the floor at your feet, his tongue lapping at your exposed shins.
Namjoon gave your neck a little nip, something to keep himself from desperately sinking his teeth into you and marking you as his forever. A soft moan slipped from you, and the eyes of all four alphas dilated in response, their instincts taking over any rational thoughts they had left. They could all smell the first wave of slick leak from your core. Both Yoongi and Taehyung tried to dive in to lap it up, but this time Jungkook pushed them back with a growl.
Jin reappeared in the room as your vision began to blur. You felt so warm. You looked up with a hazy expression. Jin was looking down at you. He looked like he wanted to pick you up, take you from the pack alpha’s embrace. A low growl came from the pack alpha as a warning. Jin sighed and took a step back.
“Joon, bring our little one upstairs to the nest. I’m not going to let you mount them in the living room.” The four alphas all rose together, each touching you in some way as Namjoon carried you gently up to the nest. The betas were standing outside the night, ready to mediate or intervene as needed. Jin was not about to let anything bad happen to you during your first heat.
Namjoon laid you in the middle of the nest, the other alphas circling around you. You squirmed under their gaze. You were sure that your whole body was on fire at this point, your skin engulfed in flames. You couldn’t stand the feeling of anything against your skin. You shuffled off the socks, kicking them out of the nest. You tried to tug at the hem of the hoodie to pull that off too, but Jin held it in place.
“Wait just a minute, little one. I want to talk to you very quickly then all of the alphas will make you feel all better. Will make our little one feel good. You are going into heat right now. Remember how we talked about heats?” You whimpered but managed a small nod.
Jin smiled and continued. “Good. This is your body telling the alphas that you are ready to carry their pups. Normally, we would have a lot more time to prepare for this and take preventative measures, but we shall just have to improvise. I know that you hurt right now. The alphas will make you feel all better soon. Just let your omega instincts take over, baby. Follow the alphas’ lead. If one of them is spent and you still ache, just get another one. There are four of them so you should be okay. If you need to stop or need anything, I’ll be waiting by the edge of the nest with the betas. Now, if you are ready, I bet our pack leader would like to go first.”
Namjoon growled in agreement, a low sound that sent another wave of slick gushing from your core. You looked up at him and the other alphas with wide eyes. The rational part of your brain knew that to some degree what you were about to do with alphas you barely knew should be frightening, but all you felt was calm. As you looked at the alphas surrounding you, you knew that they would take care of you and make you feel all better. You could still sense the watchful gaze of the betas on you, keeping a close eye on you to ensure that you were safe and being taken care of. And of course, you knew that Jin would be close by.
You were safe and it wasn’t like you’d never had sex before. The humans that hunted you often liked to use you for sex for a bit after catching, saying that hybrids like you were just holes to fuck. You knew that this wasn’t going to be like that at all.
You looked into the pack leader’s eyes and whimpered. “Alpha.” The word fell from your lips and Namjoon could no longer hold back his instincts. He dived in, his lips capturing yours in a searing kiss. He pulled away so he could pull his hoodie from your body before he moved back in. He nudged your legs apart and settled himself between them, his weight comforting.
You tried to focus on the feeling of him as a searing pain coursed through your veins. You were burning. Namjoon caressed you softly, every place he touched hurt a little less. You wiggled. You wanted him closer. His touch made you feel better.
“Alpha, please.” The pain was becoming unbearable. Namjoon shushed you as he stroked your hair. He pulled himself away for a moment to rid himself of his clothes before pressing against you once again. You could feel his hardness against you as he pressed closer to nip at your neck. You moaned, drowning in the sensations.
Another gush of slick filled the room with your scent. Namjoon could no longer resist. He pushed inside. His hard cock stretched your insides to accommodate his size. He bottomed out and stayed in that position for a moment, giving you time to adjust to his size. It didn’t take you long, your heat removing any need for the usual prep time. You jerked your hips, a signal for him to move. To fuck you.
He growled at the sensation. He knew exactly what you wanted. And he was going to give it to you. He pulled back slowly, letting you feel every vein on his cock as he slowly dragged it out until only the tip remained inside. With another growl he snapped his hips, pushing forward to bury himself deep within your walls.
He set a frenzied pace as he fucked into you. The burning you felt began to pool in your core. Namjoon grinned as he felt you squeeze him. He was close to popping his knot and he could tell you were close too. You bit down on your hand as you came for the first time, your slick gushing out around his cock. His hips stuttered; his cock buried deep inside you as his knot began to swell.
You felt like you were floating. The burning was gone. Your scent filled the room, making it hard for the remaining alphas to wait their turns. You turned your head and found Jungkook staring at you with wide eyes, pupils blown, and a hand down his pants. He’d helped Jin through his heat before, but this was different. This was special.
As the youngest member of the pack, he was usually so good at waiting his turn. He’d never cared before when he had to wait his turn to knot the pack omega. He understood the hierarchy. Now it no longer mattered. He moved closer, nuzzling against you gently as you basked in your post orgasm glow.
He knew from experience that it would be at least a few minutes before Namjoon’s knot deflated enough to remove himself. But it was so hard to wait. He captured your lips with his, licking into your mouth desperately.
More tongues began to lap at your skin, and you felt Namjoon shudder. You glanced down to find Yoongi licking up all the slick he could from around Namjoon’s knot. Taehyung was lapping at your stomach where it was slightly distended from Namjoon’s cum.
Jimin whimpered from the edge of the nest. He didn’t like being left out of the fun like this. Jin glared at him to behave. This time was about you and right now you needed alpha dick not beta dick. Jimin huffed but smiled when Taehyung grinned up at him with his tongue still against your skin.
Jimin loved seeing his mate behave in such a depraved way, like an animal driven purely by instinct. It was the hottest thing to him and once Taehyung had gotten a chance to play with you, Jimin was going to have his turn.
Namjoon’s knot deflated and he slipped from you with a content sigh. Taehyung and Yoongi rushed to be the next to sate you, but both froze in place when Jungkook growled. They turned to their youngest with surprise. They hadn’t even realized he was capable of growling like that. Jungkook glared at them as he pushed them aside and pulled you up onto his lap.
You gave him a loopy smile as you looked into his face. All of his anger vanished. He held you close and didn’t protest when your head lolled onto his shoulder. He could feel your slick soaking through his pants. Oh, he wanted to fuck you.
“Little one?” You heard him ask. “Is it okay if I knot you, too?” You smiled and licked at his scent gland.
“Yes alpha. Need you.” That was all he needed to hear. He swung you around like a doll, laying you softly back in the nest so he could strip himself of his pants. He leaned over to inspect your hole. He could see some of Namjoon’s cum leaking from the slick hole. Soon he would drown himself there, but not now. Now his little one needed his knot.
He pushed inside and shuddered. He had never imagined that you would feel so good. If he wasn’t careful, he wouldn’t last very long. He pounded into you, setting a harsh pace from the start. Your eyes rolled back as wave after wave of your slick gushed out around him.
“Alpha!” Your whines made all four alphas snarl. Your heat had been going on for two days already. Taehyung panted at your side, having been the last one to knot you just a few minutes earlier. He had barely slipped from your hole, and you were already begging for another knot. Yoongi and Namjoon exchanged worried glances. Jin’s heat had never been this extreme. Usually, they were granted at least a few hours of reprieve.
Maybe it was different for you because you weren’t mated to the alphas. You carried no pack mark. Namjoon had considered giving you one to test his theory, but to do so would be an unforgivable act. He had to have your conscious consent, something you couldn’t give during your heat.
Your whines switched to moans. Namjoon looked over to find Jungkook pounding into you once again. The youngest pack member had taken the brunt of the work during your heat. Sometimes going again after one of the others instead of all three.
Namjoon watched the two of you closely. There was something about the way that Jungkook looked at you. This wasn’t heat or rut lust. It was almost like love. It reminded him of the way he looked at Jin. He knew you were meant to be a part of the pack, but maybe this was why. Maybe you were Jungkook’s mate.
Jin shuffled into the nest and nuzzled up to Namjoon. It was hard for him to spend so much time away from his alpha. Namjoon kissed his mate’s cheek softly. “I wonder if we finally found Jungkookie’s mate.” Jin hummed quietly as he scented Namjoon.
“We shall have to wait and see.”
You blinked as the room came back into focus. The searing pain was finally gone. Jin was seated on the edge of the nest. There was something different in his gaze as he watched over you, like a sense of sadness or longing. You didn’t like that. You needed his sadness to go away. You tried to crawl over to him, but when you attempted to move the arms around your midsection tightened. You looked to find yourself wrapped tightly in the embrace of the youngest alpha as he slept.
You whined and reached out for Jin. He smiled softly and carefully crept to your side, making sure not to disturb the sleeping alphas around you. “What is it, my little one? Do you feel better?” he asked, his usual kindness in his voice. You felt safe and warm. You nodded into his hand and nodded.
“Are you hungry, my little one?” he asked with a pause. You stared up at him and shook your head. If you wanted to eat, you would have to get out of the nest and you were definitely not ready to leave the nest. The nest was warm and safe. You wanted to stay in it forever.
Jin pursed his lips at your response. “Baby, your heat hit you really hard. You must be so tired and hungry. Let me go make you something to eat.” Jin moved to stand up, but you grabbed his hand to stop him. Just the thought of him not being in view was painful to think about. He sighed and quietly and knelt by your head, one hand stroking your hair softly.
“You have to let me make you something to eat, little one. You and the alphas haven’t eaten anything in days. It’s not good for you to go so long without eating anything.” His words were quiet, but you still heard them clearly. You slowly released his hand and he stood. He gave you a soft smile before leaving the nest and heading down to the kitchen.
A few minutes later, you could hear him in the kitchen below. More footsteps sounded on the stairs which you assumed belonged to Jimin and Hobi. You lifted your head to look around. You were alone in the nest with the four alphas fast asleep beside you. They all looked exhausted. A wave of guilt washed over you. What was it that Jin said? That you hadn’t eaten in days? Had your heat made you take things too far?
You tried to push yourself into a sitting position. Jungkook mumbled in annoyance and his grip on you tightened. You tried to suppress your giggle but were wildly unsuccessful. The noise roused the alphas and four sets of eyes flashed open to stare at you.
Your hands flew to cover your mouth in embarrassment. There was a dark chuckle behind you. “Oh, little one. You can’t possibly be embarrassed right now. Not after all that. Not even Jin can wear out all four of us.” Your face turned red at Yoongi’s words.
Memories flooded your brain. The feeling of them inside. Their hands roaming your body. How full they made you feel. You tried to crawl from the nest to hide, but Jungkook’s grip on you was like a vice. That’s when you realized that he was still inside you, though thankfully his knot had already gone down. The flush on your cheeks spread through your whole body.
“Stop moving or you’ll make me hard again,” Jungkook mumbled as he buried his nose in your hair. You froze in place at Jungkook’s words. The other three alphas all chuckled at your cuteness as they began to get up and stretch out their sore muscles. It was so different to the way you had been just a few hours earlier.
Namjoon stretched and stood up to leave, not bothering to cover himself. You watched his movements with quick, bashful glances, but there weren’t many places to look that didn’t make you blush since all of the other alphas were also naked.
Taehyung seemed to notice your shyness and threw a pair of sweats at the pack leader. “Save our little one their blushes and put on some pants.” Namjoon chuckled darkly as he continued to descend the stairs.
The remaining alphas rolled their eyes at the leader’s behavior and began to get up. Jungkook slipped from you with a sigh. Taehyung slipped his pants on then rummaged through the clothes to find something for you to wear. He decided on one of his sweatshirts this time, coming over to you and helping you into the large garment.
Jungkook pouted as the other alpha stood you up and led you down the stairs to breakfast. Namjoon had thankfully donned the pants that Taehyung had thrown at him. He was now hugging Jin from behind as the older one cooked something on the stove.
The two betas were flitting around the kitchen doing various tasks as they awaited the rest of the pack to enter. As Taehyung led you in, Hobi danced over and swept you into his arms with a bright smile. You giggled and returned the hug. You hadn’t realized how much you had missed the betas during your heat.
Hobi kissed your cheek softly. “Next time, we will all play together,” he whispered, his lips still against your skin. You felt a shiver down your spine but still nodded enthusiastically in response.
Once the entire pack was in the kitchen, Jin began to fill the table with the delicious things he had cooked. You stared at the food, a sudden ravenous hunger filling you. Jin chuckled when he realized that you were drooling.
“My little one must be so hungry to be drooling like that,” he cooed, one hand coming up to casually wipe away your drool. It wasn’t exactly an intimate gesture, but the complete ease he had while doing it made you blush, nonetheless. You truly felt like a member of the pack now.
Hobi smiled brightly, his sharp eyes reading the changes in your expressions like words on a page. “You feel like pack now, little one? Yeah? That’s good. You are pack.” You returned his bright smile and bounced around, too excited to keep still.
Yoongi yawned from his seat, his dark eyes watching you closely. “How does our little one still have this much energy left after fucking all four of us dry for days?” You froze, eyes wide. Days? Your heat had lasted for days? Did that mean that the alphas hadn’t left the nest in days? In the back of your mind, you vaguely remember Jin saying something when you had first woken up, but you couldn’t remember what it was clearly.
Jin set down the pan in his hands to pull you into his embrace, soothing pheromones wafting off him in droves. They could all smell the panic that had begun to radiate from you. Jin whispered soothing words to you as he shot daggers at Yoongi. You could vaguely remember something about days from the nest, but you must not have fully taken it in.
Namjoon glowered at Yoongi as he helped you to your seat. “He didn’t mean that, little one. He’s just cranky. We will all eat and feel better soon.”
After breakfast, the whole pack headed out to the living room for a lazy morning. Jin insisted on washing the nest materials now that the nest wasn’t occupied, but he didn’t rush around doing all sorts of other chores while the machine ran like usual.
You yawned and stretched out in front of the fire. For the first time in your life, you felt full and sated. You had a pack that took care of you. You weren’t lonely, and you didn’t go hungry anymore.
Jungkook brushed back a loose piece of your hair as he laid next to you. You smiled and snuggled into him, enjoying the heat from his body even though there was a roaring fire right in front of you. Was this what it was like to be happy?
You curled further into Jungkook’s embrace, tucking your head to his shoulder. Now that you were sated and full, you were tired. It wasn’t long before you, and most of the pack was fast asleep.
You awoke to an acrid smell filling the room. All four alphas were on high alert, and Namjoon let out a menacing growl. The intruders were back, and they had come further into the pack’s territory. Namjoon’s eyes flashed red and the hair on the back of your neck stood up. They were way too close to the house. Your pack was in danger. All of your instincts were telling you to bolt. To do whatever it took to keep the dangerous humans away from your pack.
Jungkook seemed to read your mind as his arms encircled your waist, ensuring that you couldn’t bolt. You looked at Namjoon nervously. What was he going to do? Would he just scare them off again? Would he try to fight them? You had seen these humans fight before. They were dangerous.
“Jungkook. Stay here with Jin and our little one. The rest of us are going hunting.” The steadiness in his voice sent a shiver down your spine, and you snuggled into Jungkook further. Namjoon smiled down at you.
“Don’t worry, little one. We will take of the trespassers quickly and come right back to our pretty omegas.” You sniffed and rubbed your face on the only part of him that you could reach while trapped in Jungkook’s arms. Namjoon leaned down to pet your hair affectionately before turning to give Jin a quick kiss.
Jin didn’t bother trying to get you into the nest this time. He was far too anxious to think. You waited in Jungkook’s embrace while Jin paced around the room anxiously, the smell of his fear permeating the room. A yelp in the distant froze you all in place momentarily. Jungkook looked at you and Jin with unspoken resolve. You both nodded at his silent statement before the three of you bolted from the house. You would deal with Namjoon’s anger later, but right now, the pack needed help.
The yelp had apparently come from Hobi. He was holding his side and breathing heavily while the others continued to fight the trespassers. Yoongi had already ripped the throat from the one who had hurt his mate and was now helping Namjoon corner the leader. You followed Jin to Hobi’s side while Jungkook pulled someone off of Jimin. Hobi frowned when he saw you and Jin. He knew you were disobeying Namjoon’s silent order to stay in the house, but he thankfully said nothing and allowed you both to tend to his wound.
The leader of the trespassers spotted you and screamed angrily in response, momentarily distracted from Namjoon and Yoongi. You looked up at him in fear, a sinking feeling in your gut when you recognized him. He had hurt you repeatedly, taking whatever he wanted from you in private but shunning you in public. You still carried the scars of his repeated abuse. He started towards you, but Jungkook blocked his path with a snarl.
You weren’t sure why your feet started moving. All you knew was that you had to protect Jungkook. You lunged and pushed the man to the ground with a snarl. Jungkook bit back a laugh and pulled you off him. You wiggled in Jungkook’s grasp, trying to get free so you could attack the human again.
“Let Namjoon-hyung handle it, little one.” You slumped in his grasp and stopped fighting. Yoongi had the man in a chokehold while Namjoon stood over him, the rest of the trespassers already dealt with. You shivered when you caught a glimpse of Namjoon’s face. He looked downright murderous.
He stared down at the man with undeniable authority. “First, you trespass onto my land. Then you hunt a member of my pack.” The man’s eyes flicked over to you as Namjoon said this. The hatred in his gaze was undeniable. You wanted to hide away. To run and never stop until you could no longer feel his hatred.
“And lastly, your men injured a member of my pack. All of these charged carry a death penalty.” The man spat at you.
“You shouldn’t protect that little whore. It’s nothing but trouble. Only good as a hole.” You slumped further; all of the fight driven from you at his words. Jungkook snarled at the man as he held you tighter. Namjoon scoffed and sank his claws into the man’s throat.
“You will never speak about my pack again.” With a sharp tug, he pulled the man’s vocal cords from his throat. Yoongi let the body fall to the ground. Namjoon rounded on you now that the threat was contained. You pouted and tried to avoid the pack leader’s angry gaze.
Namjoon sighed and looked at Jin who was busy fussing over Hobi. He shook his head slightly and quietly headed back to the house. Yoongi and Jin helped Hobi back to the house while the younger members escorted you back.
You all entered the house silently. Jin insisted that Hobi needed to rest to heal so the pack headed up to the nest. Hobi was laid in the middle of the nest with Jin hugging his back tightly. You wanted to curl up beside Hobi too. To fuss over him and make him better, but you expected Yoongi to take his mate’s other side. Surprise spilled over your features as Yoongi directed you to the spot instead.
You snuggled into Hobi, careful not to disturb his wound. He had a small frown on his face as he looked at you. “You and Jin shouldn’t have come out to the fight. We were handling things.” You pouted up at him. Jin was quiet from his spot behind Hobi.
“Sorry Hobi.” His eyes crinkled with a small smile when he heard you say his name. You hadn’t used any of their names too much. During your heat you had just called out ‘alpha’ and the rest of the time you just went up to the pack member you wanted and whined.
You felt Yoongi curled around you from behind, one arm reaching over your waist so he could touch Hobi. Hobi stared into his mate’s eyes. “Little one used my name,” he said with an almost taunting tone. Yoongi chuckled darkly.
“But I’ve gotten to fuck them.” Hobi’s smile flipped until it was a frowny pout. There was an awkward silence now as the rest of the pack piled into the nest. Namjoon curled up behind Jin. He had thankfully washed the blood from his hands before climbing into the nest.
When everyone had settled in, Hobi leaned closer to Yoongi. Yoongi smiled at his mate and kissed the tip of his nose making Hobi blush. “You two are gross.” Jungkook’s voice came from behind Namjoon where the youngest pack member was keeping watch.
Namjoon yawned, tired from the fight. “You only say that because you don’t have a mate yet.” Jungkook snorted softly. Namjoon sighed. He was too tired for the young alpha’s attitude. “Go to sleep. We shall talk about this later.”
You awoke to find most of the pack was already awake and going about your day. Only Hobi and Jimin were left in the nest with you, both snuggled in closely to you. You smiled and closed your eyes. You hadn’t really gotten to snuggle them recently since you had been in heat. Which was honestly a shame since they were both so good at it.
Jimin yawned from behind you when he heard you stirring, his nose nuzzling at your scent gland softly. You could feel his breath on your neck. “I know you’re awake, little one,” he whispered. You huffed which made both betas chuckle.
“Get up you lazy pups!” Jin’s voice hollered up the stairs. You gave a dramatic sigh and pulled yourself away from the comfort and warmth of your pack mates. You padded down the stairs to the kitchen where you knew Jin would be. Namjoon, Yoongi, and Taehyung were already gone for the day. Jungkook was stirring the delicious smelling food on the stove.
Jin smiled when you entered and swooped over to greet you with a kiss on the cheek. You giggled and nuzzled into him. His vanilla cookie scent filled your nose. ‘Pack. Safe.’ The words repeated through your head until Jungkook pulled you away from Jin.
After the meal, you helped the pack clean up around the house. Jin even assigned you your own special task of retrieving the dirty clothes that pack members left around the house. You were happy to have a task of your own and spent the remainder of the morning sniffing around the house for the clothes so they could either be twisted into the nest or washed.
After lunch, Jin took Hobi and Jimin shopping, leaving you at the house with Jungkook. You were more than content staying at home. They could have chained you in the basement and you still would have preferred that to going out where you might encounter humans.
Jungkook was sitting by the fire with a sketch pad on his lap and pencils laid out next to him. You crept up beside him to watch what he was doing curiously. He flashed that bunny smile at you. “Want to watch me draw, little one?” You nodded enthusiastically.
He spent the next few hours drawing. You had been mesmerized by the strokes on the page at first, but you soon got tired of watching his repeated movements. You got up and wandered about the house. The upper floor was just the one room that held the packs’ clothes and the nest. The lower floor held the main room where Jungkook was drawing, the kitchen that had an attached laundry room, a huge bathroom with an insanely large tub that you had somehow managed to not notice before, and a small room filled with books.
The smell of Namjoon’s spice and old pages wafted over you as you opened the door. The walls were covered in shelves that held more books than you had ever seen before. In the middle of the room was a small desk that had a frame on it.
You inspected the frame closer. The picture inside was of Namjoon and Jin. They were much younger. You wondered if this was from before they had started the pack. Before they were mated. You smiled at the picture. You were glad that these two had gotten together and started a pack. Without them, you were sure you would have died in the snow.
You heard the door open, and you rushed from Namjoon’s room to greet whoever had arrived home. You were surprised to find Namjoon standing there. He smiled in greeting.
“Where is everyone, little one?” You gestured over to Jungkook who was still drawing by the fire. Namjoon chuckled and called a greeting to the alpha who made no acknowledgement of his pack leader’s greeting. “What about Jin and the others?”
You frowned while you tried to think of the correct word. “Shop,” you said confidently. Namjoon smiled, his dimple on full display. He gave your head a quick pat.
“Good job on telling me, little one,” he said proudly. You perked up. Jungkook lifted his head when he smelled your scent spike.
“Oh! Welcome back, hyung,” he said to the pack leader now that he realized the other alpha’s presence. Namjoon sighed.
“It’s a bit concerning that you didn’t notice me sooner. You need to practice honing your senses. Or I’ll have to make Yoongi stay home and you can go out to earn money.” Jungkook’s eyes went wide. He clearly didn’t like that idea at all.
“No! Please don’t make do that! I promise that I will work on it!” Namjoon chuckled at Jungkook’s desperate pleas. An almost evil sound with the desperation in the younger alpha’s voice.
“Fine,” Namjoon said after a few minutes of Jungkook’s begging. “I’ll give you another chance. Just be more careful. I could have been someone coming to kidnap our cute little omega.” He pulled you up into his arms and gave you a gentle scenting. You giggled and returned the favor, your feet dangling in the air while Namjoon held you.
Jungkook frowned at the interaction. Namjoon watched him closely. He watched Jungkook’s nostrils flare. Namjoon set you down and directed you over to Jungkook. You followed the pack leader’s direction and went to Jungkook who immediately lifted you into his arms and scented you. You nuzzled his scent gland in return.
For the rest of the day, Jungkook kept you by his side, refusing to let you leave for more than a moment or two at a time. Jin gave Namjoon a pointed look when Jungkook refused to let you up to greet the omega at the door when he returned.
“Kookie, go help Hobi and Jimin with the bags.” Jungkook shook his head. Jin’s mouth dropped open. He had never seen the alpha ever openly defy him like this. You tugged on Jungkook’s hand.
“We help!” Jungkook allowed you to tug him out into the winter evening air. He watched you closely as you bounded over to take a bag from Hobi. Hobi gave you a grin and leaned in to scent you. His nose never made contact with your skin. Jungkook had lifted you over his shoulder and carried you back into the house.
Over the next few days Jungkook became increasingly more protective and possessive over you. The only time he allowed you out of his sight was to shower and he spent the whole time outside the door waiting for you to finish.
While the pack members were growing frustrated with Jungkook’s attitude, you didn’t mind it so much. He never hurt you or the other pack members. He was extra affectionate, and you had to admit that it was nice to always have his grounding presence around.
A few days later, you awoke to the sound of Jungkook’s whimpers. It was still dark outside. The pack was all in the nest, most of them fast asleep. You pulled yourself from Jimin’s arms to crawl over to Jungkook. The alpha’s eyes flashed open when he felt your touch. You recoiled when the red orbs fixated on you.
A whimper slipped from you. The rest of the pack woke in a flash. Jin pulled you away from Jungkook which made the younger snarl angrily. Jimin and Hobi took you from Jin and tried to pull you from the nest. You resisted.
“Help Jungkookie,” you whimpered. Jimin sighed and let you go. He realized that your omega instincts were telling you to care for the alpha. Jin stopped you from getting too close.
“Jungkook is about to start his rut, little one. Normally, I’m the one that helps him with it since he doesn’t have a mate. I’m not sure that it’s a good idea for you to try to help yet.” You pouted and reached for Jungkook who easily yanked you from the other omega.
He lapped at your neck, drowning you in his cotton scent. Jin fidgeted nervously but didn’t interfere. Namjoon nuzzled his mate.
“It’ll be okay. We’re all here to make sure he behaves. He won’t hurt our little one. Not even in his rut.” Jin nodded. He knew that Jungkook wasn’t overly aggressive during his ruts, that was Yoongi.
Jungkook nipped at your neck, no longer satisfied with lapping at your scent gland. Namjoon stiffened, ready to pull you from the alpha should it look like he was about to bite. Your fingers tangled into Jungkook’s hair as moans spilled from your mouth like a chorus.
Jungkook shimmied from his sweats quickly as he pushed your t-shirt out of his way. He was glad that you usually only slept in just a t-shirt. Made things much quicker for him. You felt your slick begin to pool beneath you as Jungkook’s hand roamed your body while he continued to nip at your neck.
The pheromones released by his rut were flooding your senses. You wondered if it was making you go into heat again. A particularly harsh nip at your scent gland made your eyes roll back and you lost focus of your surroundings. All you felt was Jungkook.
With a low growl, he pushed inside of you. It was a stretch, and, in his rut, he wasn’t coherent enough to give you time to adjust to him. He pounded into you relentlessly growling between the nibbles to your skin. The room began to spin.
Jungkook’s rut made things uncomfortable for the pack. Anytime one of them tried to come closer to either help clean you both up or to offer sustenance, he would growl at them menacingly. Namjoon was content to let things ride out for the most part.
That is until Jungkook tried to bite you. You had been teetering between conciousness and unconciousness throughout the entirety of Jungkook’s rut so far. The young alpha seemed focused on keeping you blissed out beneath him the whole time.
When he had gone it for the mate bite, Namjoon had been forced to intervene and scruff the younger alpha into submission. They hadn’t spoken since.
You woke up to find yourself being crushed by Jungkook’s sturdy frame. His soft breaths told you he was asleep. Your omega purred. You helped an alpha through his rut. There was no trace of pain or discomfort in the alpha’s sleeping visage.
“Jin!” Namjoon’s voice shook in the quiet of the room. You heard a flurry of movement and soon Jin’s face was swimming above you. His eyes were wide and there was a frown on his pretty lips. You smiled up at him, hoping he would smile back at you.
“Are you okay, little one?” Jin’s voice was dripping with concern. You tried to assess your body which was difficult since you couldn’t actually feel all of it. You nodded as best as you could while trapped beneath Jungkook. Jin breathed a sigh of relief.
Jungkook shuffled in his sleep, nuzzling at your neck. You could feel his breath on your skin. A crazy thought ran through your mind. What if Jungkook bit you? Mated you? Made you his mate and an official member of the pack? The thought of it made your cheeks flush as a warmth filled your whole body.
The next day when you tried to bring it up with Jin, he continuously changed the topic. “Why doesn’t Jungkookie have a mate yet? Do you think he would ever consider me for a mate?” Jin looked at you with dark eyes.
“Don’t think about that now. What kind of things would you like me to get for you at the market?” You frowned and asked for things so you could learn how to read. Jin patted you on the head affectionately, promising you all the things you would need to be the best reader ever.
The next time you tried to bring it up later in the day, he had laughed awkwardly and just walked out of the house. He was sure you wouldn’t follow him, even if you wanted answers. You never left the house, even to grab things from close by the house without an alpha at your side.
Eventually, weeks passed by. You had stopped trying to bring it up and hoped that the pack would broach the subject with you in time.
You were in the kitchen with Jin and Jungkook when the door opened. You grinned and rushed to go greet your pack member that had arrived home. You paused in the doorway, face falling when you saw the exhaustion on Taehyung’s face.
He collapsed on the couch with a sigh, and you ran to his side. You felt his forehead for a fever like Jin had taught you, nodding when it felt no warmer than usual. You pulled the fluffy blanket from the back of the couch and draped it over the sleeping alpha. You frowned. You wanted Jimin here.
Jimin knew how to take care of Taehyung the best, but he was out grocery shopping with Hobi. You huffed and went to tug Jin away from the stove to look at Taehyung. Jin smiled fondly as he watched you fuss over the sleeping alpha.
Jungkook looked much less enthusiastic, but he said nothing as you readjusted the blanket on Taehyung for the fifth time. You looked up at Jin for help. He gave you an encouraging nod. He knew the real reason behind Taehyung’s exhaustion, but he liked watching you fall into your omega instincts to help care for the pack.
“Sick?” You asked while looking up at the pack omega with wide eyes. Jin shook his head no causing you to tilt your head in confusion.
“He’s just tired, baby. Not sick. You can ask Jimin about it later,” Jin said with unconcerned ease. You pouted and shuffled away from the sleeping alpha and back to Jungkook’s side. Jungkook immediately placed a possessive arm around your waist as you snuggled into his side.
You sighed, a sense of emptiness settling over you. You were safe at Jungkook’s side. You acted and worked like one of the pack, but they had not taken any steps to officially add you to the pack.
Jungkook noticed your restlessness at his side. He nosed at your cheek. You pulled away, suddenly not in the mood for the alpha’s possessive behavior. He didn’t deserve to act that way if you weren’t even a member of the pack. You stood up and went to Namjoon’s office, shutting the door behind you.
Jungkook followed behind you, whimpering outside the shut door like a whipped puppy. Jin bit his lip, guilt rising in his throat like bile. He knew this was his fault. He shouldn’t have pushed away the topic of you becoming a pack member.
Did he do it out of jealousy? Was he afraid that he would be replaced as pack omega? No. You had given him no fight for that role, content to fall behind him in the hierarchy of the pack. You obeyed him well, his little omega. Was that his problem? That he wanted you for himself? It was clear to everyone that Jungkook had laid claim to you.
The main door opened again, and the remainder of the pack entered the living room. When Jin didn’t come to scent him at the door, Namjoon looked at him curiously before following his gaze to the library door. It didn’t take the alpha long to figure out the situation.
He went to Jin’s side, kissing his mate’s cheek softly before speaking. “We can’t keep delaying this, Jin. Little one needs to become a part of our pack. They must be feeling so bad right now. They must be thinking that we don’t want them in the pack and you know that isn’t true. Besides, look at Kookie. He needs his mate.” Jin sniffed, tears rolling down his cheeks at an alarming rate.
“Why are you crying, love?” Namjoon cupped Jin’s face in his hands gently. “Tell alpha what’s wrong, omega.” An order. Namjoon was making sure that Jin couldn’t ignore him.
“My omega,” he whimpered. “They’re my omega. Don’t want Jungkookie to take them from me.” Namjoon pulled Jin into a tight hug, the older’s head on his shoulder.
“Jungkookie isn’t going to take Little One away from you. They’re both going to stay here with the pack. Little One will still be your omega. They will be everyone’s omega. But they are Jungkookie’s mate.” Jin nodded and pressed his lips to Namjoon’s scent gland. He drank in his alpha’s soothing scent, letting the spice wash over him.
“Now, let me finally give our Little One all of the courting gifts I’ve bought for them so we can make them an official part of this family.” Jin nodded again and pulled away from Namjoon.
You heard the pack alpha knock on the door. “Come out, Little One.” Another command. You weren’t even officially in his pack and yet his alpha commanded you easily. You opened the door quickly with flushed cheeks, slightly embarrassed by how easily his alpha commanded you.
Jungkook was at your side in an instant, nosing at your scent gland like you had been gone for hours and not minutes. You sighed and resigned yourself to the young alpha’s scenting. The rest of the pack watched the interaction with admiration in their eyes.
Jin was the first to speak. “Little One, we want to officially make you a member of our pack. We’ve considered you a member since the beginning, but it’s time for us to make it official.”
You stared at them silently, eyes wide. It was finally happening. They actually wanted to make you an official part of the pack. Tears welled up in your eyes before you could stop them.
Namjoon, misreading the tears, held up his hands. “That is if you want to be a part of our pack. We really want you in the pack and it feels like you already are, but we understand if you don’t want it.” His words came out in a rush in his panic.
You shook your head, the tears now streaming down your cheeks. “No, alpha. I want to be pack. You’re my pack, right?”
Surprisingly, it was Jungkook who answered. “Of course we’re your pack. You’re my mate. Of course my mate is in my pack. It would be silly otherwise.” You looked at Jungkook with tearful eyes. How easily he said things that made all your dreams come true.
You smiled and nuzzled at his scent gland. “My mate. My pack,” you whispered before turning back to Namjoon. “Please make me a part of your pack, alpha.”
