Thad eats a rock

Summary:

They play truth or dare, Thad eats a rock

Work Text:

It was a strange time for Thad in all honesty- if you told him just a month ago that the flying murderous sky robots who had come to wipe out all his kind were going to be sitting in his room along with the weird punk kid nobody liked, and that one of them would become his friend- he wouldn't have believed you for a second.

Yet here he is.

The four drones sat in a circle, the room dimly lit by LED's lining the ceiling, laughing amongst themselves. They pumped their first in unison, taking a small glance at each other like they were trying to read each other's minds.

"Rock, paper-"

V formed a scissor shape before Thad could finish his sentence, leading to the others scrambling to create their own shapes-

"I win!"

The bobcut-drone announced, dark silver talons glinting in the colorful lighting.

"I didn't even get to finish my sentence-?" Thad attempted to interject.

She only laughed in his face in response, Uzi sat next to Thad annoyed, glaring into V's eyes, a smug grin plastered on her face. Sensing a fight about to break out, N gently shoved the two away from each other, taking his seat between the two girls, pushing Thad as well to the other side of Uzi. He obliged to N's silent command, scooting away.

"How about truth or dare?"

Thad suggested, trying to help N change the mood. V perked up at the idea, her eyes flashing brightly for just a second, Thad could feel the slightest bit of regret as he turned, only to find Uzi with that same slightly malicious grin.

"Sounds good!"

N cut in, Thad moving slightly to make a proper circle. N's tail wagged as he looked around the room, deciding who to choose..

"I'll start- V, truth or dare?"

She brought her hand to her chin- or rather claws- Thad nearly jumped when it had fully processed that she had them out the entire time.

"Truth."

Thank god.

"Hmm.. uhhh."

N fumbled over his words for just a few seconds- he hadn't come very prepared for this, after a moment of muttering, he smiled sweetly.

"Okay- What's your biggest fear?"

V simply flipped her hair. "I don't have any."

Like she had told the dumbest lie in the world, Uzi quickly came in with her own response, glaring smugly at V. "Ah bite me, I was info-dumping to N about bats and you looked like you were about to shit your nonexistent pants."

Thad swore he heard V boiling like a kettle for a split second as she turned hollowed eyes towards Uzi, he was surprised there hadn't been a murder yet.

"Oh fuck you! Uzi, truth or dare?"

"Dare! Bring it on!"

N and Thad exchanged glances, nodding slightly, silently agreeing to do something if the need arises, Thad wasn't sure about it himself but hey, he'd rather not have his room become an in-house arena.

"Let me text your dad."

The two guys let out a short sigh of relief that they (thankfully) didn't have to try to prevent a homicide. At least it did for N, after a moment of realization struck Thad like a basketball to the face.

Uzi slowly slid her phone to V, contacts and messages with 'smells bad' already opened. Thad spotted that the last message Uzi had sent had been a year ago.

V snatched it, swapping one of her hands to normal fingers for once, quickly typing something out, throwing it back. The purple-haired drone had caught it mid-air, a look of horror creeping over her face as she stared at the screen.

"V?"

"Yes?"

"I am going to stab you."

N leaned over.

"Congrats on the baby, Uzi!"

"SHUT THE FU-"

She cut herself off.

Thad nervously tapped his fingers as Uzi turned to him- though he wasn't about to be a coward.

"Truth or-"

"Dare." He quickly cut her off.

It seemed like Uzi was having trouble as well- like she'd expected him to answer with truth. She sat still, before a malicious grin formed on her face, beginning to worry the worker drone.

"Wait here, I'll be back in a minute."

30 minutes later..

N had been fidgeting with his tail the entire time, nearly stabbing the two other drones before Uzi had finally returned, though her custom jacket was coated in a thick layer of frost and snow, she slammed the item to the floor, the ice breaking off of it, revealing.. a rock?

Oh no.

Uzi turned her violet gaze to Thad.

"Eat this."

N looked down at it in confusion, holding back V's arm as she tried to reach for it. He picked up the stone, carefully inspecting it. It was just about the size of his palm, not smooth at all but it was absolutely, unmistakably a rock- not some chunk of road that had been blown off.

"Did I hear that right-?"

The blonde worker turned to Uzi, his only hope being that her voice had glitched out, though as the word "yes" slipped out of her mouth, he tried to put on the best fake smile he could, his competitive nature quickly kicking into high-gear to ignore the weirdness of the task at hand, holding the rock up high.

"Alright- easy- just watch me!"

The silver-haired disassembly drone watched with a concerned look in his eyes as Thad violently shoved the rock into his own mouth- quickly regretting it. He tried to speak, though all that came out were gargled out words.

V seemed amused though.

He raised a thumbs up to N and Uzi- trying to signal he was fine- for now anyway, as he nearly spat it out. It didn't taste as bad as he expected, probably because it was still mostly covered in ice.

Thad tried to encourage himself- worker drones could lift heavy objects several times larger than they are! Who says they couldn't bite through a rock? That bit of confidence was all that was needed to-

SNAP

..Break a tooth.

The other half of the rock fell to the floor, along with at least three of his teeth, prompting a disgusted reaction from those surrounding the very much uncomfortable Thad- even V seemed a little grossed out by the sight, scooting away from the scene of the crime.

"Shhhiiiiit.."

Thad coughed out chunks of oil and rock pieces- staring at the second half in absolute dread, letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding as Uzi kicked it away in disgust.

The room fell to a deafening, awkward silence, trying to process what'd just happened, taking glances at each other.

N spoke up "You good?" He put a relaxed hand on Thad's shoulder. He pulled away, staring at the black-stained rock.

"I'm just gonna.. Go to the nurse's office."

Thad stood up, walking out nonchalantly like he wasn't bleeding profusely from the mouth, a small trail following him as he exited his room.

"Sooo, are we just gonna sit around?"

"Yeah probably."
