Work Text:
Don’t run through wheat fields in the early mornings. There are evil wolves, the trail of the night is still behind them, the sight of the clear moon lies in their pupils. There are birds that are only visible in the distance, they sing songs that aren’t heard anywhere but here.
Don’t take the flowers with open buds away with you. One grain - you’re still here, two - and you’re already there. Their stems are thin, and their smell is the most pleasant one you’ve ever smelled.
Don’t break the sacred silence with your laughter. Wolves come running towards him, and birds fly away. The grass is withering from him, and the clouds are gathering. He smashes everything to pieces.
Don’t go into the rain, which creeps up your collar with its cold drops. These drops sting worse than nettles, and burns stay on your skin for weeks. If you stand under it long enough, you won’t notice that you’re already a wondrous flower yourself.
Don’t wander through the forest at the other end of the field. There is a loud whisper and a mirror lake. One glance and you won’t be able to look away. And don’t even think about calling out to anyone, you’ll get into a deep thicket and won’t find a way out.
Don’t try to tell your fortune using daisies, which always end in unlucky petals. You’ll burn your finger and never find true love ever again. Daisies never lie.
Don’t dance in a beautiful dress while bathing in the moonlight. The girls from the forest will join you. Before you know it, your back will become transparent, and you will follow them back to the lake and mountains.
Don’t count the twinkling start scattered across the sky. You’ll never know how many of them there are, and while you’re counting, before you can even blink, you’ll melt in the night air, leaving behind only white fabric with neat embroidery.
Don’t whisper to your wounds until you return home. They’ll get worse and worse, they won’t ever heal. Fields don’t like any changes.
But if you decide to go, then go carefully, hold tighter onto your silver chain and don’t speak to anyone.
