human things

Summary:

The pack may not know exactly what their hapless human child needs, but they're still going to do their best.

Featuring one well-meaning group of ninken and their disaster ninja.

Notes:

I write only Naruto drabbles now, apparently, but I'm happy that I'm writing anything!

This MUST exist elsewhere, but I admit that I'm not that deep into the Naruto fandom and also I want to write this, so don't yell at me. Thank you. Please enjoy my version of this hilarious concept.

I'm notably bad at remembering canon, so if anything here contradicts it, uhhhh sorry.

Chapter Text

There is a pug sitting on the porch when Kakashi opens the door. It stares up at Kakashi expectantly for a long moment. He stares back, noting its unusual calm and the peculiar directness of its gaze.

The pug huffs, in a way that is half-exasperated, half-amused. "Yo," it says.

Kakashi considers it for a moment more, then closes the door.

He turns to look up at his father, who has frozen midway through putting his shoes on. "Father," he says, "I think I'm hallucinating."

There is a bark from outside the door. A bark of laughter? Proof he is hallucinating? It has been three days since his last mission outside the village. If it is poison or hallucinogen, it's a slow-acting one or there is a traitor in the village.

"The dog talked," Sakumo says faintly, and flares his chakra to dispell the genjutsu.

"Oi!" the pug shouts from outside. "That's rude!"
