Work Text:

With a bottle opener in one of her hands, Sora pops open the bottle of apple cider for her and Tori to drink. A mouth-watering smell wafted throughout the space they were in from the picnic basket resting on the right side of Sora’s leg, just a little off of the blanket. The blanket itself was really fitting—it was a red and white checkered blanket, laid out flat for them to sit on. Tori sat across from her girlfriend, her olive eyes just as sparkly as the cider being poured into the plastic wine glasses Sora had packed into the picnic basket.

Tori looked around the forest they were in. The stars were as clear as day, and sparkled beautifully—oddly enough, the stars reminded Tori of Sora’s eyes—bright and full of life. To be fair, Tori always believed that Sora was gorgeous—especially now, with her lopsided witch hat and her ruby ring, which contrasted nicely against her pale hands. Tori had a matching ring, garnet, for her birthday month! Both gems were absolutely beautiful, and Tori giggles every time she remembers the day they went shopping for these rings. Tori had actually bought it for them, her eyes having that same sparkle she has now, asking if Sora wanted one too.

“Hime-chan! Sora has poured the cider~ do you mind getting the plates out from the basket?” Sora called out, flashing Tori a smile. Tori’s face flushed a bright shade of vermilion, nodding rapidly. Tori swears she felt her heart palpitate wildly at just seeing Sora smile.

“Of course, Harukawa-chan~!” She says in her usual tone, and in return, flashes Sora an equally bright smile. Sora, in return, also feels her heart race wildly, and could also feel her face heat up at Tori’s smile.

Tori distributed the two plates, and proceeded to give out the other goods in the basket. There were apple and corn fritters, sandwiches, a whole apple pie, and other goods that Niki presumably made. Niki was always friendly to Tori, and often gave her sweets freshly baked from the bakery half of her witch shop, where Sora worked at.

Sora raised up her glass, Tori mimicking her girlfriend. Sora held her glass close to Tori’s, presumably to toast.

“Sora wants to make a toast to us, Hime-chan!” She giggles, clinking her glass with Tori’s. Oh, how her giggles were music to Tori’s ears!

“To us, Harukawa-chan!” Tori replies, letting out a soft giggle as well. Both of them took a sip, relishing in the cold drink. It was sweet and fizzy, the fizzes slightly dampening their noses.

Both of them put their glasses down, now picking up their plate of sweet treats. They were still warm, but not hot to the touch. Tori slowly bit and chewed her sandwich, while Sora absolutely devoured her goods. Tori couldn’t help but laugh and tease her girlfriend for her antics.

“Look at you, Harukawa-chan! You eat so messily~,” Tori teases, picking up a corn fritter. Sora stops to look up, her apple fritter still in her mouth, about to take a bite. Sora slowly sunk her teeth into the sweet, biting a bit off and swallowing it. Tori giggled again, getting a napkin and wiping off some sauce and crumbs off of Sora’s face. All the while, Sora stared at her with her wide eyes. Once she registered what Tori was doing, her face immediately turned scarlett and she stammered.

“T-Thank you, H-Hime-chan! S-Sora really appreciates it!” She stutters nervously, letting out an equally nervous chuckle. Tori just giggles at that, happily munching away on her corn fritter. The picnic wasn’t as quiet as Tori thought it would be. Sora would constantly crack up a joke, and Tori would laugh at every one made, despite how silly they were.

Near the end, once they cleaned up after finishing most of the food provided, they sat on the grass, looking up at the sky. They sat next to each other, though their hands were very close. Tori really wanted to hold Sora’s hand—and Sora must have sensed it, because she turned her head to face Tori, while Tori had her head hanging low, looking at Sora interlacing their hands together.

And for the remainder of the night, Sora would ramble about the star constellations, and Tori would look at her, with the biggest smile on her face. She wouldn’t trade Sora for anything.
