It makes Ed ache, all the things that have gone unsaid. He feels like he’s drowning, gasping for air as he tries to find the right words, and he can’t help but wonder if there is such a thing as two hurt people going too slow.
Or maybe it’s just that neither of them know what they’re doing. That seems plausible. Stede’s admitted as much–he always says he left because he panicked.
And Ed’s not going to panic. Okay? He’s not. He’s going to talk about how he feels.
