Work Text:

Ballroom music was the first thing she noticed when she came to. A dress she’d never owned, faces she didn’t recognize, and the man she’d sworn to destroy placing an intense kiss on her lips. She tried desperately to pull away when she became fully aware of his actions, but it was to no avail. She danced alongside him the entire time; Dracula, boasting his wit and ability to scheme, and Anna trapped helplessly in his clutches. “You make my skin crawl.”

He only laughed lightly at her statement though before responding. “Then perhaps, for now, a softer touch is needed to sway you hmmm?”

Without another word, he disappeared from her sight, only to find herself with someone who’d snuck up behind her with a fright. “My turn.” A feminine voice whispered into her ear away from her line of site. Her senses were still very much dulled, but she certainly felt it when softer hands started to guide her arms upward until they were straight from one another, her partner’s gentle touch reaching out to her wrists, allowing her elbows to bend downward. Anna was certain that she could recognize who it was but she couldn’t tell for certain as she hadn’t even seen the other woman’s face yet. What was even more worrying was the reflection in the mirror. No one was there except her, meaning that her new dance partner was a vampire too,  as well as everyone else in the ballroom. Her body once again betrayed her as she felt something warm trail against the pulse of her neck, sending a chill down her spine. It was only then that she realized who it was. “Aleera...”

She finally turned and could see the redhead now, wearing a merlot dress of intricate detailing, arms and shoulders exposed with only her wedding band and a bracelet with garnet gems decorating them. And that smile, that wicked grin of hers that let everyone know just how much she enjoyed messing with her prey. “I’ve been dying to see you in this dress ever since I had it made.” Anna was surprised at this piece of information. While she certainly didn’t hate what she was wearing, she felt exposed and could only imagine who it was that had undressed her in the first place. Aleera was adept enough to sense what she was thinking of in that moment and decided to put her mind at ease somewhat. “If it makes you feel any better, it wasn’t the master that changed your attire.” Aleera gave Anna knowing look making her blush slightly. “So this was all a plot to lure Van Helsing?” Aleera seemed lost in her own world though, as they continued to dance. She was very good at brushing off the worries of others and opted instead to move even faster with Anna in toe, the tempo raising along with them. Aleera removed the gloves from Anna’s hands, allowing her to feel the princess’s bare flesh even more as her fingers became interlaced with her own.

The redhead only made her pulse raise even higher with this act. Why was Aleera acting so strange, well stranger than usual? “The hunter isn’t the only reason you were brought here my love.” My love. A phrase Aleera had used for Anna for a long time now, not entirely sure as to why, not that it had ever mattered considering past circumstances, but there was something in the way she said it now that gave Anna pause and take notice of it. “You may not believe me Anna, but I’ve admired you for a long time.” Anna let a like chuckle that had a hint of bitterness at this though. “Right.”

“I’m serious. You had every reason to run away, but never did when you could’ve. You stayed and you fought even when all hope seemed lost. You’re strong, and I happen to think that that’s admirable.” Aleera looked at Anna sincerity making the princess look away out of embarrassment. “What is it that you want Aleera?” Aleera’s smile returned once again, her free hand tracking along Anna’s soft lips before resting under her chin. “You.” Anna had never seen Aleera’s eyes soften so much. A juxtaposition to her usual predatory and sadistic demeanor. For the first time, she could honestly say that Aleera looked vulnerable, as if the baring her very heart to Anna.

“You mean my blood.” Of course not. Aleera looked at Anna as if the answer should’ve been obvious. And maybe Anna knew what she truly meant.

Perhaps too afraid to acknowledge it in such a compromised situation where she could neither run nor fight. She had no choice but to endure Aleera’s lustful machinations for the time being. Rather than being frustrated by her naivety, the vampiress started to look at Anna thoughtfully for a moment, a light smile as she lowered her gaze to Anna’s lips before closing her eyes. “That….but more.”

Before she could say anything in response, Aleera had caught Anna’s mouth with her own, her left hand on Anna’s shoulder to support her as she deepened the kiss.

Anna tried her best to resist the urge to let out a moan but was ultimately unsuccessful, only encouraging Aleera to do more as she slid her tongue into the princess’s mouth, her hand lowering to Anna’s waist as she pressed herself against the princess. She wanted Aleera to stop, not because it was wrong or because she hated it, but because of how good it felt.

How the intoxicating scent of exotic perfumes and the sweetness of the redhead’s lips had flooded Anna’s senses left her in a light daze. Why? She thought to herself. Why did it have to be her? Anna’s body tensed from the conflict she was having inside of her self, realizing just how entranced she was in the woman before her despite her deep seated beliefs as well as the bad blood shared between them. Aleera eventually pulled back, realizing that Anna needed air. The princess’s cheeks had reddened as she caught her breath, making Aleera smile sheepishly. If it hadn’t been obvious beforehand, it was obvious now. She had wanted to do that for a long time. “As I said, I want you.”

“Aleera……how could you desire me so after everything we’ve done to one another? And besides, you know that I’d never join with Dracula.”

“I’m not asking you to join him, Anna. Just me. Would that be so wrong? After everything that you and I have both lost, would it be so terrible to find comfort in one who knows your heart almost as much as their own?” Before she could respond, Anna was put in a dip. She looked up to see Aleera staring back at her, her fiery hair hanging down and entangling with Anna’s black. Her hand resting firmly behind Anna, making sure that she wouldn’t fall, while the other hung freely. “Aleera…”

“I have always desired you Anna, even before losing my sisters, I had always wanted you to join us. Couldn’t you imagine it? All the power you could ever dream of, never aging or getting sick, me at your side…” Anna raised her hand to Aleera’s heart and was surprised to find that it was beating fast. She knew she must’ve been imagining things now. “Just one bite my love, and you’ll never be alone again.” Would it be so bad ? Anna didn’t know for certain and she certainly didn’t like that she was even humoring the idea. Am I truly so starry eyed right now that I can’t see the downside?

She had grown to despise vampires over the years and had often wondered why anyone would subject themselves to such a horrific fate. But, when she looked into Aleera’s hazel eyes, the prospect became gradually more and more enticing and left her with a deep unfamiliar desire. One that had her completely and utterly at the mercy of her captors, and truth be told, she didn’t mind it, mainly because she was just tired. Tired of fighting, tired of losing, but most of all, she had grown tired of living. She wouldn’t even call it living really, mostly just surviving, and she had plenty of scars and graves to prove that she had paid her dues a hundred times over by now. Why do I have to carry this burden? I never asked for this. I never asked to lose my family. Her mind drifted to her brother and her father, both of whom were taken from her too soon. Aleera barred her fangs and caressed Anna’s throat. She lowered her head to Anna’s ear and whispered, “it’s your choice Anna~”.

The ballroom seemed empty in that moment, just the two of them in their own world. Anna hadn’t even noticed the returning presence of Dracula who seemed to loom over the duo watching on intently but not saying a word. Anna’s heart was beating in sync with the woman that ogled over her with loving eyes. Aleera’s proposition seemed genuine to Anna and it didn’t seem that there was any malicious intent behind her words either  as she paid close attention to every word Aleera had said, checking for any indication that she was lying. She wasn’t . The answer became clear now, and all Anna had to do was open her mouth and say what her heart desired. “I choose you.”

Aleera beamed at Anna’s response. Her smile practically radiant as she lowered her head to Anna. One last kiss before turning her head to the side of the princess’s neck. “I promise, you won’t feel a thing.” She wasn’t completely honest about this though as Anna felt 4 pinches on the side of her neck followed by soft tender lips. Aleera’s light moans seemed to distract from any pain the princess may have experienced in that moment though, her body becoming weightless by the second as Aleera continued the transition.  Anna could feel her own heart gradually start to slow down, and yet she wasn’t afraid. She knew that saying yes meant that she was putting her life in a vampire’s hands, but even if those hands belonged to a vampire she seemed to have had a rivalry with for decades, her desire for more with her outweighed the uncertainty. In her heart, she knew she wanted this, she knew she wanted to be free from her family’s curse, but most of all, she wanted to be with Aleera.

As Aleera continued to feed, Anna’s eyes grew heavy as she fell limp, the last thing she recalls being laid in the ground, and something wet falling on her lips, the taste not being particularly pleasant, but the effect being almost immediate.

Her eyes jolted wide as she rose to stand  up with Aleera supporting her. She looked at the redhead, uncertain as to what just happened, but Aleera seemed unable to speak at the moment and could only stare at the princess in awe. She looked down at her hands and realized that they were clawed now. She was feeling sensations that were completely foreign to her, a new vitality of which she had never known before. A hunger she’d never known.

She looked to the large ballroom mirror and it only confirmed what she had already suspected. She saw herself with pale white skin and glowing azure eyes and watched as her reflection faded before her. She seemed fixated on it now, desperately wanting to see herself once again. I suppose I’ll have to get used to that… She thought to herself. “Immortality becomes you Anna.” A deep voice said from behind her, catching her attention. She looked back to see Dracula standing next to Aleera now, a hand resting around her waist possessively.

“You got what you wanted, now what?”

“Now?” He approached her, chalice in hand and raised it to her as an offering. “Welcome to the family.”

Notes:
