Summary:

(Canon) Small short stories about my Hero/Villain OC's, Phase, Grey, Mythos, Solstice and more. Just fun stuff as I work out what will be canon in the real story. This should give you a feel of the characters.

Chapter 1: Unwelcomed Guest

Summary:

There's someone in Phases apartment.

Chapter Text

Phase took a step into her apartment. Something was off. The smell was off. The slightest scent of expensive cologne. She closed and locked the door behind her, getting ready for anything. Before she flicked on the light she pulled the taser out of her bag. She flicked on the light quickly, scanning the room.

“Well hello ther- whoa, hey! Not a threat.” Grey raised his hands in surrender. The tension in her body subsided. She wouldn’t question how he got in or how he found her this time, it was redundant. He sat on the shabby two person couch, his suit jacket tossed over the armrest. Phase’s thumb flicked over the button in temptation.

“I should taze you just for being here,” she grumbled, slipping the weapon back in its place. “I’m gonna have to move again.”

“Seem’s like a waste of time fer both of us.”

“What the hell do you want, now?”

“It’s about your little plan…” He stood and paced slowly across the living room. “Ya see, I’m fine with breakin’ into the the most secure headquarters there ever was, surrounded by people who may or may not want to kill or lock me up, but what I’m not seeing is a reliable escape route.” Phase took off her long blue coat and dropped it on the coffee table. It was a strange but pleasant sight, Grey thought, seeing her in civilian clothes.

“There are several different escape routes, we will have to leave depending on what happens, you don’t need to know them all, you couldn’t memorize them anyway.”

“I beg to differ. I just think you don’t want me knowin-'' There was a loud rhythmic knock on the door and Phases' eyes grew wide.

“What-” Grey started.

“Shut up,”Phase whisper-yelled at him.

“Hey, Babe! You home?” A feminine voice from the other side of the door rang out.

“Who is-”

“Shut up, shut up, shut up.” The knock rang out again. Phase looked around the room in a panic and grabbed Grey, pulling him over to the only other door in the unit and pushing him inside the bedroom. Grey gave a teasing smile when he saw the bed.

“Sweetheart if you wanted-” Now was not the time for his antics.

“Keep your mouth shut. Stay here.” She closed the door. That was a bad idea.  She opened it again. “Don’t touch my shit,” Phase warned. Which was a good idea as he was snooping over by her dresser. She closed it again. The knock rang out again but louder. Phase went and opened the front door and Megan pushed past her.

“Were you sleeping or something?”

“Uh yeah- what are you doing here?” Megan dropped her purse on the kitchen bartop and turned to hug Phase.

“I just wanted to check in and see you. Did you want to grab a bite? You don’t look like you’re working on anything.”Megan jumped up on a barstool and leaned back against the counter.

“No actually, now's not the best time-”

“Oh come on, I know  you haven’t eaten today. Speaking of- when was the last time you did eat?” Phase opened her mouth but Megan cut her off. “A real meal? None of your meal replacement drink bullshits I mean. Though you are dressed as a real person today, so I’m glad. What is up with you? You’re acting so weird.”

“Listen Sol -” Megan's eyes hit the couch and she jumped up.

“What is this ?” She rushed over to the couch and grabbed Greys jacket. “Did you steal this from someone?” Phase winced and reached out to grab it from her, but Megan pulled it away.

“No. I-” Megan’s gasp cut her off.

“OH MY GOD are you seeing someone?!”

“No!” She stared Megan down but there must have been something written on her face (probably panic) because Megan's smile grew wider. “Look, I need you to leave”. Megan rolled her eyes.

“Riiight. Is that why ‘this is a bad time-’” Megan froze. “Oh my God is he here now ?” Her tone was that of a whisper but she practically yelled it.

“No,” the tone was obviously defensive. Phase focused on keeping her eyes straight and stared Megan down, without blinking. Megan cocked her head with a small smile and took one step towards the bedroom door. Phase matched her step to block her automatically and she mentally cursed herself. Megan’s smile grew wider.

“Uh-huh.” They both were locked in a standstill, unmoving. Megan was having the time of her life. There was a sparkle that shone in her eye and Phase knew how fast that would burn out once she learned what was really happening. Megan shifted her footing ever so slightly. Phase was tense with dread.

“…No.” The soft word was a demand but Phases eyes were pleading. Megan cocked her head with a grin. “Don’t.” Megan lunged for the bedroom door and Phase flung herself in front of it.

“Oh pleasepleaseplease! It’s been, like, years since you met anyone and I just wanna see him! Let me just introduce myself!”

“No! You can’t!” Phase pulled at Megan in a panic, knowing that if she truly wanted to get into that door then Phase would not be able to stop her. She was only playing now, allowing Phase to pull her away.

“Why?” Megan pouted. Then a wicked grin spread over her face. “Is he not decent?”

“I…” It was the perfect out, handed to her on a silver platter but it would take away a piece of her soul. Phase hung her head in disappointment, her face burning. “No, he isn’t,” she lied. Megan giggled and backed off to Phases relief.

“This is not over. I want to meet him later. I can’t believe you would keep something like this from me!” She went and grabbed her purse off the counter.

“Yeah,” Phase grumbled. “We’ll have a tea party”.

“HEY MR. BOY TOY, TREAT HER GOOD TONIGHT,” Megan yelled over Phases shoulder as she hugged her goodbye. “DON’T LET HER WALK TOMORROW”.

Phase let out something akin to a strained wheeze as there was a hearty laugh from the bedroom. She shoved Megan out the door who was laughing as well. Megan winked at her.

“You have a fantastic night,” She said smugly.

“Shut the fuck up”. Phase slammed the door. She ran her hand down her burning face and  leaned against the door. Why did she suddenly feel like a stupid teenager again? This was all so ridiculous, Grey was in her room and- OH NO GREY WAS IN HER ROOM! Phase rushed over to the bedroom door and slammed it open. Grey was sitting on the end of her bed leaning back on one arm. They stared at each other in silence; Grey with a large smile on his face and Phase red as a beet. Of course he opened his mouth to say something.

“Don’t-” Phase started.

“I mean, I can definitely fulfill that order.”

“Shut the hell up and get out of my house”. Phase pointed to the front door furiously.

“Oh come on, darlin. Years? I think you need a bit of-”

“OUT!”

“But we need to talk about the-”

“NO! We were nearly compromised because of your little stunt. Out! Now.” She stormed over to the couch and threw his jacket at him from across the room. It smacked him in the face. Grey laughed as she shoved him out the door as well. He put his hand in the doorway before she could close it, hoping she wouldn’t slam his fingers in the door.

“The pizza’s on its way.”

“What?” Phase stopped mid-slam and shook her head in confusion. Grey waved it off and started down the hall. She watched him for a moment in confusion playing the sentence over and over in her mind. Was it a code?

“Don’t bite the guy's head off when he gets here.” Phase closed the door and locked it. She slumped down onto the couch in exhaustion. Why the hell would he order a pizza?
