Chapter 1: Author's Note

Chapter Text

I'm really sorry for those that were expecting a chapter, but I had to post this story quickly before it gets automatically deleted in the drafts.

This fic is also an AU, so here's the info of it:

• Lumine and Aether are Nameless and Emanators of Trailblaze, blessed by Akivili when the Aeon was still alive. They used to be one of the Astral Express' passengers before Akivil's death. They've gotten involved with a lot of factions during their adventures before Teyvat. While their knowledge about interstellar society is 500 years out-of-date, they still provide valuable historical info.

  • They are also good friends with Screwllum. Lumine and Aether fought alongside Screwllum against Rubert the Emperor in the Mecha Wars.
  • They've also participated in the Swarm Disaster, which makes them older than Nanook, who still hasn't existed at the time.
  • Akivili's blessing gives them the ability to travel the universe without the use of spacecraft or Akivili's previously added Star Rails. It could be describe as the twins being able to create their own Star Rails, which can only be used by the twins and the companions they bring with them. Unlike Akivili, the twins' Star Rails are not permanent, and it will quickly fade once it is crossed.

• Here, the Sovereigns are Long the Permanence's creations. While the Vidyadhara are considered Long's distant descendants, the Sovereigns could be considered the "Children of Long". While the Sovereigns and Vidyadhara share the ability of reincarnation, it is more of a biological revertion process for the Vidyadhara, while for the Sovereigns, it is metaphysical (if that's the correct word to describe it).

• The seven elemental Sovereigns roamed the stars for many millennia until eventually, they found the uninhabited world of Teyvat, and then created the original landscape and sea (before Phanes arrived) as their new home.

• Due to the Sovereigns' sudden absence from the universe (because the Primordial One took over and all the Sovereigns are currently stuck in Teyvat), most believe them to be dead, the Vidyadhara, however, still believe the Sovereigns are still alive somewhere.

(The funny part is, both sides aren't wrong. Most of the Sovereigns were killed with Apep being the original survivor, but thanks to reincarnation, all of the Sovereigns that died are still alive.)

• At some point, the Hydro Dragon, Leviathan, and the Electro Dragon, Izanagi, temporarily separated themselves from their brethren out of interest in mortals. Leviathan was more apathetic and initially only did so out of curiosity from a suggestion from Izanagi. They then took mortal form at this time.

  • At a random planet, the Hydro and Electro Dragon met Akivili and their Nameless, with Lumine being the first to befriend Leviathan. Because Lumine never met Apep, she did not recognize the Dendro Dragon in their first meeting.
  • In the present time, Lumine recognized Neuvillette during their first meeting at the opera house as the mortal form that Leviathan previously took. Thanks to Freminet telling her of the Hydro Dragon legend, she quickly realized that he is also the reincarnation of the dragon she, Aether and Akivili met millennia ago. However, she never brings up the subject since Neuvillette obviously doesn't recognize her, even if he finds her familiar. She didn't want to force a friendship from a past life Neuvillette barely remembers.

(I will provide more AU lore about Akivili, the twins and Neuvillette in the future chapters. However, let's just say the Hydro and Electro Dragon stuck around with Akivili and the Nameless for quite some time.)

• The world of Teyvat still acknowledges the Sovereigns as natives since their elements have kinda become the foundation of the current Archon Era. Also because the Sovereigns are the first inhabitants of Teyvat, which used to be an uninhabited world.

  • However, while Irminsul does acknowledge them as natives, since they have information on them, it isn't powerful enough to affect the Sovereigns' memories like the rest of Teyvat. This is because they are still creations of an Aeon, whose powers and Path widely affect the universe.
  • The Sovereigns know that something was up with Sumeru because of the whole Rukkhadevata erasure. However, Dvalin and Neuvillette are more focused on their own nations, Azhdaha is sealed underground and Apep just doesn't give a crap.

• They aren't classified as Descenders by the Fatui because historical records of the Sovereign Era is incredibly scarce. With the exception of Lumine, Aether, the Abyss Order and Celestia, no one knew that the Sovereign came from the stars.

I think it's obvious at this point, Neuvillette is my favorite genshin character. However, even before Fontaine's release, I was already planning to make crossover connection between HSR!Leviathans and the Sovereigns, just to establish a connection with the Genshin and Star Rail universe. But Hoyoverse giving us our first playable Sovereign just gave me a more ideas!

(Edit: The Sovereigns are now Long's creation rather than being Leviathans. I'd like to thank the commentator who reminded me of Long's existence. I forgot a lot of Xianzhou dialogue so I completely forgot that the Vidyadhara are actually part-Dragons. This made a lot more sense to me than making a connection with the HSR!Leviathans XD.

I initially decided for Lumine and Aether to be younger than Nanook, until I realized that Nanook still hasn't existed in Swarm Disaster Era. So, I've changed my decision and made the twins older than Nanook, since here, they took part of the Swarm Disaster.

I've changed the Electro Sovereign's name from Kanzeon to Izanagi, because it's more suited to the lore I plan to write about the Electro Sovereign.)

Lumine is the Traveler I play as, sorry Aether mains (I do like Aether tho).

I promise I will post the next chapter eventually. I already had this idea for a while now but I was waiting for the Fontaine AQ to finish first. Because I feel like Fontaine would also have more relevant reactions to Belobog due to the overworld/underworld city.
