Summary
Xiao and Aether dated, but the dark-haired male's decision was influenced more by his drive to overcome his one-sided crush on Venti, Zhongli's best friend. Venti helped him a lot when he was a child by supporting him in getting an adequate education and a nice home to live in, as well as acting as a buddy who could listen to his issues.
