“Nick do you want to go on a trip?”
That was the question, the simple question. The question that landed nick here at 2 in the morning, half asleep in the passenger seat. Matt had been driving around for awhile, moments before getting in the car Nick saw Matt stuff bags in the car. Nick was too tired to question anything. Music was playing in the background of nicks thoughts, it was a calm environment. The pitch black sky covered in bright stars, along with the moon right by the stars side. It made him smile just looking up in the sky. Nick had always been interested and terrified of space, who knew a black void could be so interesting.
Nick heard the car come to a stop, and Matt step out of the car. He rubbed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to keep himself awake. As he opens his door he was hit with cold air hugging his body, giving him a welcome. He groaned and shuffled his way out of the car. He felt shivers run down his spine and immediately clung himself to Matt, hoping he would get some sort of warmth. It hasn’t even been that cold out, but Nick was dramatic. Matt laughed and made his way towards the trunk, pulling out a tent and a bag full of blankets and snacks. Nick smiled at the boy in front of him and turned to look around at his surroundings.
They were in an empty field, a perfect area for star gazing. God it was beautiful.
Nick ran to the middle of the field and immediately collapsed to the ground, being extremely out of breath. A few seconds later her would find that this wasn’t the best idea, considering the grass was soaking wet. Matt took his time making his way to nick, he wanted to take in everything. He heard nick groan from afar, signaling him to pick up the pace.
Once Matt had finally made it, the two started setting up the tent. They had failed a couple of times, leading them to restart and read the instructions. Nick grew frustrated with their lack of progress, and eventually left Matt to do it on his own.
Finally the tent was set up, blankets covered the floor of the tent, making it easy to ignore the uncomfortable ground. Nick let himself fall onto the ground, he had to squirm and move around untill he felt comfortable. He looked up at the “roof” of the tent, which ended up to be transparent, allowing Nick and Matt to see the stars above them. Nick stared in Awe, as he attempted to make shapes of the stars. Matt and Nick cuddled up together, and occasionally pointed out stars to one another.
The two fell asleep peacefully that night, obviously woke up to Chris spamming them with text and calls. But they would make it up to him later by going to McDonald’s. They enjoyed the night they spent together, and both couldn’t get the smile off their faces the whole entire day.
