With a firm grip, Eren grasped onto Mikasas hand and drunkenly ran. Ran as fast as possible, away from his friends, the village, his visions and held tightly onto the only thing that mattered at that moment, Mikasa.
“E-Eren!” Mikasa stuttered, her voice echoing on the quiet yet radiant lit streets of Marley. Her drunken state was not much better than Eren’s as they both giggled at nothing and ran to where their feet led them.
“Mikasa, remember this was your idea,” Eren winked back at her, both of them blushing while the breeze flew through their hair like the sound of songbirds on spring days.

“Welcome to our home,” Eren released Mikasa’s hand, pointing to the cabin house in front of them. The glass windows shimmered, a picnic bench lay unattended as Mikasa couldn’t help but cry.
Eren glanced at Mikasa, afraid he had upset her.
“Mikasa, you’re crying,” he spoke, resting a hand on her shoulder. She didn’t notice the tears spilling from her eyes.
Confused, she cleaned the tears from her now soaked face with her index finger, looking down at the droplet. This feeling, these actions, this was all so familiar yet she was too exhausted to begin to understand why.
The sun began to rise as they began to trudge into the cabin, “Let’s get inside, it’s been a long night,” Eren yawned.
Inside, the cabin was furnished with yellow drapes and white furniture. There were only two rooms, a bathroom and bedroom that connected. The kitchen was decorated with purple and yellow dishes and a beautiful baby yellow kitchen set.
Eren had seen this cabin before in memories, even if his Titan memories became warped at times. “I’ve been here,” he whispered to himself, not realizing he spoke aloud. He had recalled the yellow dishes, the bed peaking from the half shut bedroom door, it was all so familiar.
Mikasa’s mouth went agape, questioning how that could be yet accepting his words as reassurance. They were both all too tired to begin to grasp the scope of the familiarity of this cabin and Eren’s memories at that moment as Mikasa yawned.
"We should sleep Eren," Mikasa suggested in a drowsy voice.
Eren took it among himself and apprehensively wrapped his arm around the curve of Mikasa’s waist, both bashful. Eren was anything but a flirt, he was too embarrassed to carry her to bed.
“I can get in bed myself,” she stammered,” but was already placed in bed. The mattress was firm and was a complementing contrast to the white silk sheets draped across their wood planked bed she felt with her free hand as the other was removing her uncomfortable buckle shoes. She began to crawl into bed, gesturing for Eren to join her. In the blink of an eye, she had fallen asleep without realizing.
Eren began to remove his shoes when he heard the faintest snoring escape from Mikasa. He struggled to not laugh aloud, forgetting how quickly she fell asleep. He distracted himself by removing his dress suit, attempting to lightly shuffle into bed when Mikasa jolted awake, she didn’t realize she had fallen asleep.
“I’m so sorry”
Mikasa couldn’t help but giggle at Eren’s bashful state, she’d never seen him blush so heavily. Eren began to giggle as well, she rarely let herself shield down to laugh and when she did, it was inevitably contagious. Her giggles stopped as Eren kissed her hand, her turn to be bashful.
“Got you too, huh?” Eren chuckled, tilting his head when she froze. “What’s wrong, Mikasa?”
“Nothing Eren,” she spoke honestly. Making a bold move, she laid her head on his shoulder, about to succumb to sleep once more. “I just can’t help but think about the futu-“
”Mikasa, can you promise me something?”
“Sure.” Mikasa gazed up at Eren, more alert at the seriousness at his tone of voice.
“Promise me we won’t talk about the future or if we regret this or not,” Mikasa nodded quickly, understanding this must be harder on him than anyone. This promise was what sealed the future of peace they both envisioned, what they would finally have.
“Thank you…well, goodnight Mikasa,” Eren said in a hush. He smiled down at her, snugly wrapping an arm around her shoulder, copying what he’d seen other couples do as affection since he hadn’t had the damnest idea and faked his confidence for the night of having an idea of what to do next.
“Wait, Eren?”
“Yes?” Eren shuffled to face Mikasa, the sun now shinning in his face while attempting to look at Mikasa.
“I wanted to say one more thing last night besides living these next few years in peace, it was that I’ve always loved you Eren, not as family, but for you.” This was funnily the one thing she didn’t stutter on and was confident.
Eren grinned ear to ear, this was something he’d been waiting to hear forever, since he’s known her. He kissed her forehead, not caring in that moment how bright the sun shined, how red their faces blushed, just her. He didn’t realize what he’d done until after, looking down at Mikasa’s smiling, bashful face.
“Now I can truly live my days in peace,” he spoke against her forehead, both of them closing their eyes and surrendering to sleep.
