Work Text:

Harry hung onto the web that was attached to the front of his shirt, looking up to see Green Goblin and Spider-Man fighting above him. Looking down Harry saw the drop to the bottom of the clock tower and prayed the web would hold, this is not how he wanted to die. A grunt made the teen look up to see Peter on his back with both hands holding Norman's wrist away from his neck. A wicked sharp knife glinted in the man's hold, the other pulling out a pumpkin bomb.
"Look out for the bomb!" Harry yelled, Peter kicking Norma off him and rolling just as the bomb dropped and exploded.
The shockwave made the whole tower rumble and shake. Harry thew one arm over his head for protection, holding on tightly as the web swung slightly.
"You okay?" Peter called, Harry looking up.
"Watch out!" He cried, Goblin coming up behind Spider-Man.
The masked teen backflipped and landed on Norman’s back to pin him to the ground. The impact made the man drop the knife, slicing Harry on the arm. The teen cursed lightly.
As the Goblin and Spider-Man continued to fight Harry started to slowly pull himself upward like he was climbing the rope in gym class.
Only if the web snapped there were no crash mats to catch him.
No, bad Harry, think about climbing.
Halfway up Harry heard a soft whirring noise and looked towards it. A bomb with blades spinning was coming right at him.
"Fuck!" The teen said as he couldn't do anything but watch.
Time slowed down as the blades cut through the web like it was nothing.
Harry gasped as he was momentarily weightless before falling.

Hearing the gasp Peter kicked Norman off him, the man crashing and knocked unconsciousness, before diving after Harry. A rouge bomb rolled and exploded causing clock parts to fall all around the boys, their eyes locked on one another.
Peter shot out a web that reached for the other teen.
It connected to his waist and Peter grabbed the pole closest to him.
Time sped up again and the web suspended Harry above the floor slightly. But not before the teens head bounced off the concrete with a sickening crack.
"No!" Peter cried, connecting the web to the pole, and jumping down.
The teen ripped off his mask as he pulled his boyfriend into his arms, settling on his knees as tears fell.
"No Harry, Harry please. Please don't leave me. Wake up," he sobbed, gently shaking him, "wake up. Please."
Nothing.
Not even a flutter.
Peter felt like he'd lost his whole world as his head fell forward and he cried into Harry's chest.
It couldn't end like this.
The boys had been through so much together since they met at four years old. They'd been together when Harry's Mom died, given him a place to stay when his Dad was drunk. He'd been there when Peter lost Lucky, there to hold him when he needed it after missions.
They planned a future together with their own place and pets. Maybe even adopting.
Harry couldn't be gone.
He just couldn't be.

Peter screamed through his tears in fear and frustration, wishing more than anything that his man would wake up.
He needed him.
Peter was crying so hard he almost missed the faint flutter in Harry's chest.
Wait what?
"Har?" Peter whispered, hearing it again.
The teen pressed his ear to the others chest and sure enough there it was.
A flutter.
His heart was beating.
It was faint but it was there.
He still had a pulse.
That meant...
Peter cursed and quickly pulled on his mask before gently lifting Harry into his arms. The teen wrapped a web around their waists and rest a hand on his man's neck before swinging one armed back to the tower.
He called Shield to pick up Goblin on the way.
"Well done Spider-Man," Nick said.
"If Harry doesn't wake up, I'm coming after that asshole," he growled, hanging up as he landed on the roof of the tower.
The teen took a breath before carrying his boyfriend down to the medbay.

Peter burst through the door maskless making Bruce and Cho jump.
"Peter?" The man asked as he rushed over.
"He has a pulse," Peter rushed out as he lay Harry down, "it's faint but it's there, please Uncle Bruce you and Cho gotta help him."
"Okay buddy take a breath," Bruce said calmly, "Cho, get the kid on oxygen and the X-Ray machine ready, we need to see what we’re working with."
"Yes Doctor," Cho said as she set about doing what she was asked.
"Jarvis call Tony please."
"Already on his way Banner," the AI replied.
"He's gonna be okay right?" Peter asked softly, eyes still glued on his partner.
"Hey kiddo, look at me," Bruce said softly, stepping in front of the teen so they could lock eyes, "we'll do what we can. But right now I want you to go take a shower."
"I can't lose him," the teen whimpered, tears in his eyes.
"We'll do what we can," Bruce repeated as Tony walked in.
The man took in what was happening and immediately walked over to his son.
"Peter?" He asked softly, catching the teen as he fell into his arms and wept.
Sharing a nod with Bruce, Tony lifted his son into his arms and left the med bay.

Once back on their floor Tony carried his now quiet son to his bedroom and sat on the bed, Peter in his lap as he clung like a koala.
"What happened baby?" The man asked softly, fingers gently carding through his sons hair.
Peter took a shaky breath before relaying the night to his Dad. The teens voice teary as he recalled the sound Harry's head made with the floor.
"It's all my fault," he whispered.
"No baby," Tony soothed, "it was Norman's fault. Anything happens to that kid it's all on him."
"I don't wanna lose him Daddy."
"I know baby," Tony agreed as he rocked the teen, tears in his own eyes, "I know."

Half an hour later, and a lot of coaxing from his Dad, Peter was in the shower. He robotically went through the motions of washing his hair and body before stepping out. He dried himself before pulling on some boxers, joggers, and Harry's Straykids hoodie. It gave Peter jumper paws and smelt like strawberries and cigarettes. Peter buried his nose in the fabric and took some calming yet shaky breaths before heading to the living room.
Tony was sat on the couch with Morgan tucked into one side. Seeing his son the man wordlessly lifted his other arm, the teen cuddling into his side and blankly staring at the Tv.
He tried to watch it to distract his mind but it didn't help. The teen couldn't help but think about his man lying there in the medbay, clinging to life with a faint barely there heartbeat with a head wound.
Peter hoped there was no brain damage.
If Harry died Peter would go after Norman.
Spider-Man might not kill.
But when it came to Harry, anything went.
Mentally shaking his head the teen shifted so his head was on his Dad's lap. He then rolled over to hide in his Dad's stomach.
"Petey, you okay?" Morgan asked softly.
"He's okay baby, just a little tired," Tony told her softly, fingers running through his son's hair.
Nothing else was said as sounds of the Tv washed over them.
Peter barely heard it.

Harry pushed through the fuzziness and pain in his head, following the steady rhythmic beeping to his left. The back of his head throbbed lightly and he felt like he'd been run over by a truck.
His eyes opened slightly, seeing nothing but blurred shapes. One of the shapes came closer and a muffled sound followed.
The teen let the darkness take over again.

The next time the teen came too he felt less sluggish and more aware. The steady rhythmic
beeping was still on his left but the throbbing in his head had gone. He also felt less like he'd been stomped on. The teen blinked his eyes open slowly to see he was in a dimply lit room.
Harry took a moment to stare at the ceiling before he realised he had an oxygen mask on. Slowly looking to his left the teen saw the source of the beeping.
A heart monitor.
He also noticed a bag of clear liquid with a tub leading to an IV in his hand.
The teen then looked to his right and saw his favourite person.
Peter was on the couch and wrapped in a blanket, leaning against his Dad as they both slept. He noticed the bags under his baby's eyes and couldn't help but be sorry he caused them. The teen only had a fuzzy memory of what happened to land him in here.
"You're awake," A happy voice whispered.
Looking over Harry saw Doctor Banner and smiled weakly behind his oxygen mask.
The Doctor walked over and gently removed the mask and IV, wordlessly holding a cup of water close to Harry. The teen took some small sips before leaning back.
"Good to have you back kiddo," Bruce smiled.
"What happened?" Harry managed, voice cracking.
Just as Bruce opened his mouth, another voice spoke up.
"Har?"

Looking over the two saw Peter awake, Tony waking up beside the teen.
"Hey Petey Pie," Harry greeted with a soft smile.
The brunet eyes welled with tears as walked over and hugged Harry. The blond wrapped his arms around him and kissed the top of his head.
"Hey don't cry baby," he soothed, "I'm okay."
Peter shook his head before resting his forehead against Harry's.
"Don't you ever do that again," Peter whispered wetly, "I can't live without you."
"I'm sorry," Harry whispered back, pressing a soft kiss to his boys lips.
Peter smiled softly pulled back enough to look at Harry.
At his new eyes.
"What?" The blond asked.
Peter just shook his head and wiped away his tears before climbing onto the bed and snuggling into Harry's left side. The brunet lay his head on his man's chest, listening to the strong steady beating of his heart.
"Harry?" Tony asked.
"Hey Mr. Stark," the teen greeted.
"Do you remember what happened?" The man asked, soft sadness in his eyes.
"I remember Pete and Dad fighting," Harry told them, arm holding Peter close, "but not much after I fell. It's all kinda fuzzy."
"Well you fell down a clock tower," Tony said, "cracked your head on the bottom as Pete saved you."
"Okay," Harry nodded, "then why do you look like you've seen a ghost?"
"Har," Peter said pulling his attention, sitting up to face him, "you - you died."
Harry froze.

“I – I what?” The blond asked, not quite believing it.
“When I caught you with the web, you,” the teen teared up, “you hit your head and were dead. There was no heartbeat.”
“But I’m here right now,” Harry said softly.
“Something saved you,” Bruce said, pulling all the attention to him.
“What do you mean?”
“Peter brought you in with a faint heartbeat and we hooked you up, ready to help,” the doctor explained, “but suddenly the heart monitor sped up to normal, your vitals changed and you started to breathe deeply again. On the X-ray we noticed some kind of mutation.”
They all digested the information they’d just been told.
Something had saved Harry?
Something inside him?
“But how?” Tony asked in shock.
“I dunno,” Bruce replied with a shrug, “scans showed everything healing. No skull fractures, no brain damage. The only change is the eyes.”
“My – my eyes?” The teen asked.
Bruce handed him a small mirror and Harry’s jaw dropped at the sight.
One eye was its normal ocean blue.
The other was half blue and half green.
“Wow,” the blond said as he lowered the mirror, “wow.”
“I like it,” Peter said with a small smile.
Harry smiled back at his boy and wordlessly opened his arms, Peter falling into them safely and looking small and protected.
“So what now?” Harry asked.
“We keep an eye on you for the night, but apart from that you seem okay,” Bruce told him, “we do wanna run more tests for that mutation but those can wait.”
Harry nodded and pressed a soft kiss to Peter’s head, the brunet purring happily as he listened to his man’s heartbeat.
It was strong.
Solid.
Alive.

A knock sounded and Clint poked his head in.
“Up for visitors?” He asked, walking in at Harry’s nod, “hey baby bird.”
“Hey Hawk,” Harry greeted and smiled at the soft kiss placed on his head, Clint being careful of the bandage wrapped around it.
The rest of the group filed in and greeted Harry while Morgan snuggled into his other side, smiling softly as Peter who smiled back and lifted his arm. The little one happily snuggled under it and felt content being so close to her boys.
As the group talked Harry, Peter and Morgan gently drifted off into sleep with the blond holding his babies tightly.

So maybe Harry did have some kind of mutation that saved him.
Maybe it was sheer luck.
All Harry knew was that Peter caught him, and would continue to catch him whenever he fell.
