Chapter 1: something called "divorce"

Chapter Text

“what do we do now, baby?” jihoon asked his son after finishing pouring the cake batter into the pan, with the help of his faithful assistant in the kitchen, of course.

seungkwan swung his little legs on the counter until his father picked him up and placed him on the floor, then he held the pan with both hands and walked to the stove.

“open it, dad.” the adult did what was asked.”

the child grimaced when he felt the hot air from the preheated stove and, being careful not to burn himself, placed the mold inside, helping his father close the oven.

the eight year old woke up that morning earlier than usual. carefully to not wake his younger brother, he changed his colorful pajamas for red shorts and a spongebob shirt, then walked to his parents' room, pouting when he didn't find his dad jihoon in bed, then went out looking for the father around the house until he found him sleeping on the couch.

he didn't understand why his father was on the couch instead of being in bed with dad soonyoung, but he woke him up and asked him to help kwannie make a cake.

obviously, jihoon couldn't say “no” to his son's sweetness, so together they looked for recipes on the internet until they found one that seemed easy.

“can i watch cartoons, dad?” jihoon thought a little.

“let's make a deal?” jihoon bent down to his son's height and the child nodded. “while dad washes the dishes, you watch a little cartoon, then when dad finishes we'll both take a shower, okay? or do you have another idea?”

“can be, dad. thanks!”

seungkwan smiled and ran to the living room, laying down on the couch and looking for a cartoon to watch.

upstairs, soonyoung let out a sigh as he opened his arm on the bed and noticed that he was alone again.

he heard his eldest son's voice downstairs and let out a groan when he saw the time, getting up lazily and forcing himself to walk to the children's room to see if chan was also awake, only to see him sleeping like an angel.

“son, let’s wake up?” soonyoung shook the seven year old child a little. the youngest grunted and turned the other way. “my dear, it's time to wake up now, your brother is already awake.” he tried again, the child now opening his eyes and sitting on the bed, his brown hair sticking up in all directions.”

“hmmm... good morning, dad.” he hugged soonyoung's neck, the one who held the child in dinosaur pajamas and stood up.

“what a nice hug! good morning, my love!” he left a kiss on his son's cheek. “shall we take a shower with dad?”

wven though he was still drowsy and lying with his head on his father's shoulder, chan murmured "yes" and let his father bathe him, waking up more as the hot water hit him.

when chan and soonyoung left the room, already showered and with damp hair, the child was more awake, running through the house until he reached the stairs, where he slowly went down holding his father's hand and the handrail.

chan had been afraid of those stairs since the day, a few months ago, he fell down some steps while playing tag with his brother.

as soon as he stepped on the top step, he let go of his father's hand and ran to the kitchen, finding his father jihoon placing the hot cake on the table while seungkwan distributed four dishes around the table.

“dad!” seungkwan exclaimed as soon as he saw soonyoung, leaving the last dish on the table and running to hug him.

“good morning, son! woke up early today.” he took the child in his arms, walking to the kitchen. jihoon said ‘good morning’ to chan and helped him sit at the table, but didn't look at soonyoung.

“father! me and dad jihoon made a cake! it's very tasty!” he exclaimed with the biggest smile. “i haven't actually tried it yet, but we followed the recipe exactly!”

“i'm sure it's delicious, son.” the child sat next to his brother, then sat down. “good morning, jihoon.”

jihoon ignored his presence again, starting to cut the hot cake and placing a piece on each plate.

“children, dad soonyoung and i have something to talk about with you. “jihoon spoke after a few minutes of silence where everyone was just eating the cake.

“you can talk!” chan said. soonyoung looked at jihoon as if asking ‘are you sure?’, but of course jihoon ignored his look again.

“when two people love each other very much, they get married…” he began. “but after marriage, there is something called ‘divorce’, which is when these two people... stop loving each other so much, and need to separate.” soonyoung poked the cake on his plate with teary eyes, jihoon drank some of the orange juice, refusing to cry. “soonyoung and i are going to get divorced.

the room fell silent, the two children processing the information.

“so... are the daddies going to stop being our daddies? are we going back to the orphanage?” the older child asked, tears streaming down his face just thinking about the possibility of no longer having his two parents together.

“no! of course not!” soonyoung responded quickly, holding his son's face with both hands. “we will never stop being your parents, never! even if we separate, you are our children and nothing will change that, i swear!”

“dads don't love each other anymore?” chan asked. the adults were silent.

“we... wow, it's difficult, son.” he sighed. “our relationship is over. even if we still love each other, it won't work.” jihoon held his youngest son who was crying in silence. “we're still going to live here, together with you for a while, okay? our relationship ending or not, we are still a family because of you two.”

“you fought? is that why dad jihoon is ignoring dad soonyoung?” seungkwan asked, now sitting on soonyoung's father's lap, who was wiping his tears.

again, they fell into silence for what seemed like an eternity. seungkwan was always a very smart child.

soonyoung cleared his throat.

“it doesn't matter, okay? it's an adult matter. what matters is that you two will be our children forever, you don't need to worry about the rest.”

Chapter 2: ce… mitery?

Chapter Text

“uncle mingyu.”

“hi, kwan.”

“why are dad and dad getting di-vor-ced?” he said the last word slowly, as if he wasn't sure.

at that moment, the two children were in the living room painting with paints and mingyu was on the couch, watching them.

kim mingyu is jihoon's younger brother and children's godfather. jihoon works as a music producer and soonyoung, as a dancer and choreographer, both in the same company. mingyu have a more flexible job, being a writer.

now in the children's vacation period, jihoon and soonyoung preferred to leave them with someone they could trust than have to hire an unknown nanny, and mongyu loved those children very much, and always took care of them with all affection, even if it sometimes meant delaying some jobs.

“because your dad soonyoung is a slacker and your dad jihoon is dumb as fuck.”

chan looked angry at his uncle.

“you can't!”

“what can't, dino?”

“you can't say that ugly word! dad said you can't!”

“what ugly word? ‘fuck’?” the child crossed his arms.

“you said it again!”

chan now seemed threatening with his angry face, although he had a sun drawn by his brother on his left cheek.

“but does dad still love dad seungkwan asked, changing the course of the conversation.

“yes, kwannie.”

“so it doesn't make sense! if dad loves dad, why does dad want to separate from dad?” seungkwan dropped the dirty brush on the floor, suddenly angry.

“because adults are difficult, little one. sometimes they do wrong things thinking they are doing the right thing.”

“uncle, why don't you tell dad not to separate from dad?” chanalso dropped the brush, looking at his uncle.

“i’ve already tried, but do you think my brother listens to me? he's hard-headed, chan.”

“but i don't want the dads to separate, uncle!”

mingyu stopped for a moment, and then smiled like a naughty child and sat on the floor next to the children, calling them closer.

“do you know what I think?” he whispered as if telling a secret. “i think you should do a cupid operation to get your dads together again.”

[♡𖥻]

“jihoon!” soonyoung ran to the company door to reach him, touching his shoulder. jihoon walked away as soon as he felt the touch. “hey, stop ignoring me.”

“what do you want, soonyoung?”

“you came by taxi, didn't you?” he continued before the other one answered. “i came by car. i’ll give you a ride, let's go.”

“you don't have to, kwon.”

“please, love.” the nickname came as a punch for both of them. jihoon finally looked at soonyoung, angry.

“don't call me that! you lost that right!”

“jihoon, please. did you see how sad the children were about the news? they know that we work together and will be even sadder if we don't arrive together. please…”

jihoon sighed and nodded.

deep down, he knew soonyoung was right.

deep down he was rooting for soonyoung to call him by his nickname again.

but to his misfortune, he didn't call him. on the contrary, he guided him in silence to the car and now both were inside the mercedes in a strange atmosphere that not even the music that played on the radio could dissipate.

“are you sure about that?” soonyoung broke the silence when they stopped at a traffic light. “of the divorce.”

“i have, soonyoung.”

“aren't you really going to listen to me at least once?”

“i have nothing to listen to, soonyoung! what the hell!” looked at the (now ex) husband totally altered. the other looked at him back with tears in his eyes.

“you know you have to.”

“i don’t! you betrayed my trust, i don't want to listen to you anymore and i assure you that if it wasn't for our children i would even make a point of resigning so i never need to see you again! and you have no right to be crying now.” pointed his finger at the eldest when tears ran down his cheeks, this one that dried up quickly and looked forward again.

“jihoon, please-“

“enough of this subject.” cut him off, falling on the bench again and focusing his eyes on the road.

although he still had a lot to say, soonyoung nodded, not wanting to prolong the subject so as not to make jihoon uncomfortable.

the rest of the way was even stranger, but it was long enough for both of them to calm down and not look terrible when they got home, so as not to worry the children.

they left the car in silence and were surprised when they opened the door of the house and didn't hear anything. jihoon walked to the yard and soonyoung to the kitchen, not finding any trace of the children.

“mingyu said he was going out with them?” jihoon denied.

“how strange, they don't sleep at this time…”

they both frowned and walked upstairs, opening the door of the children's room, finding them sitting on the floor very serious while writing something on some sheets of paper.

mongyu looked up and poked the children when he saw them both at the door. the children quickly got up and seungkwan pulled soonyoung while chan pulled jihoon, making the adults sit on the bed.

“now it's up to you, champ.” mingyu hit his brother on the shoulder as an incentive, leaving the room and then closing the door.

jihoon and soonyoung were surprised that the children didn't hug and kiss him like they did every day.

“what is this, little ones?” soonyoung asked, chan gave his brother a little push, reminding him that this would be the first to speak.

“daddy and daddy! Is this a ce... mitery?”

“semitarian, silly!”

jihoon laughed.

“seminar?” tried, the children smiled and nodded.

“seminar! thank you, dad.” he left a kiss on his father's cheek, then returning to his position. “seminar on why dad should not divorce dad.” he raised the first sheet, which had a drawing of jihoon and soonyoung with a heart and an x.

lee jihoon would kill kim mingyu.

Chapter 3: you look pretty in pajamas

Chapter Text

“kim mingyu, you brazen son of a bitch!” jihoon cursed angry, walking to the living room after putting the two children to sleep.

“what did i do?” mingyu’s dragged voice exposed that he would probably already go to sleep.

“‘what did I do’, what will it be? do you want to explain why my children who didn't even know how to speak ‘seminar’ did a thirty-minute seminar on why i shouldn't get divorced from kwon?

“you're already at the level of calling by last name, how depressing.” yawned. “come on, jihoon. you don't listen to me. you don't listen to jeonghan. you don't listen to seokmin. my last hope was that you would listen to your children.”

“what did i hear, kim mingyu? tou wanted seven- and eight-year-olds to convince me of why i shouldn't end my marriage?”

“what i’m trying to show is that even children have realized that you are being stupid. come on, brother. soonyoung just needs to lick the floor you step on, do you really think he would be able to even consider doing you something bad?”

“i think! And you know you have proof.”

“jihoon, you tire my beauty.” jihoon heard a noise that supposed it was mingyu lying on the bed.

“mingyu, i swear that if it wasn't so difficult to find someone to take care of them at the last minute, i would never let you get close to my children again!”

“jihoon, i’m going to silence the phone and go to sleep, you can talk to yourself there as much as you want, okay?”

“don't hang up the phone, kim mingyu!”

“good night to you too, brother. reflect on the children's seminar, they spent the whole afternoon doing it.”

mingyu sent a kiss and put the phone on top of the desk, really leaving his brother talking to himself until he realized that mingyu was no longer listening and hung up the call, throwing his cell phone on the couch soon after.

honestly, jihoon hated the seminar and spent the whole speech imagining different ways to torture and kill mingyu.

soonyoung was already very proud of the children for the work they had to do the posters and the whole presentation, even if the reasons were not the most convincing.

“first reason.” chan started. “dad soonyoung is sad, baby chan is sad, baby seungkwan is sad, and dad jihoon is angry. no one wins!” raised a poster that showed three sad faces and an angry face.

“reason two.” seungkwan raised two little fingers. - dad jihoon is sleeping on the couch and he will be in pain in the back, because he is old.” jihoon stared at his son, offended, knowing very well that it was mingyu's story. soonyoung laughed.

“reason three, dad soonyoung is no longer cooking, and his food is better.”

“thank you, son.”

“comments only at the end, please.” chan spoke very seriously. this time who laughed was jihoon.

“reason... four?” jihoon nodded. “reason four! we don’t to watch movies together anymore.” showed another cartoon, the one that had the two adults and the two children on a couch and an x.

“reason five. the dads stopped playing together with us, and that's boring!”

“reason six. uncle mingyu said that dad still loves dad, so there's no reason to separate!”

and so they continued until reason twenty-three, when they finally finished and made the parents applaud the long presentation of the two.

it would not be children who would convince him to resume a marriage, but jihoon valued the effort.

“hey, sleep in bed today.” soonyoung came to the living room holding a blanket and a pillow, putting them on the couch.

“no, i sleep here.”

“jihoon, i know you're going to have back pain. sleep in bed.”

“you dance. i’d better be in pain than you.”

“you're worried about me.”

soonyoung smiled weakly. he was right. jihoon was worried about him, but he would never admit it.

“stop being an idiot, fuck.” cursed taking his cell phone and passing by soonyoung. “sleep there, i hope tomorrow you wake up with a lot of pain.”

went up the stairs murmuring a few more curses, that's until soonyoung called his name.

“you look beautiful in your pajamas, hoon.”

“kwon, don't think that just because i stopped ignoring you that i forgave you or anything. this is only for our children. i didn't give you freedom to praise or nickname, and you can be sure that I'm very pissed off now.”

soonyoung went to sleep with his heart aching tonight, but jihoon slept happily for the compliment.

[♡𖥻]

“son? what time is it?” soonyoung murmured when he was woken up by his two sons jumping on top of him, looking around to see if there was something wrong.

“that's it, daddy.” chan raised fivefingers.

“why are you up so early?” closed his eyes again.

“dad! don’t go back to sleep!” the youngest child shook him.

“dad, we were thinking... we could go to the playground, right? kwan, chan and the dads!”

“son, but it's so early…”

“but later the dads are going to work!”

“don't get mad.” soonyoung left a seal on chan's cheek and hugged the two children. “why don't we go later? about seven o'clock?”

“because chan and kwan want it now!”

soonyoung wouldn't let children send him. above all, he is the authority figure inside the house, he is the one who needs to put it in order and it was too early to go to the playground and...

“ok, go to wake up dad jihoon.”

“no!” soonyoung faced chan confused. “you know, dad... we could make breakfast for dad…”

chan and seungkwan were not dumb. the two had already understood that if they woke up jihoon first and asked him to make breakfast for soonyoung, he would say "no", so soonyoung seemed to be the easiest way now.

“son, there's not even bread at home.”

“but the bakery opens early, dad.”

“please, dad!” soonyoung closed his eyes, chan being doing the face he was making was a low blow.

and it is obvious that soonyoung gave in.

he just changed his clothes and changed his children’s pajamas, didn't even bother to fix his hair and went out to the bakery, the children being on their bikes and soonyoung following them on foot, walking while still waking up.

he came back from the bakery with two bags of things the children asked for and now he was going up the stairs carrying a tray with bread, cake, candy, juice and coffee while the children ran in front of him to wake up dad.

the clock now marked 5:48 and jihoon woke up in a fright thinking that something had happened, but calmed down when he received good morning kisses. he stared at soonyoung mortally when he saw him with the tray.

“before you fight with me, they woke me up at five o'clock in the morning to do this.” soonyoung whispered only to jihoon and left the tray on the bed, sitting on the edge of the bed. “good morning, jihoon.”

“good morning, soonyoung.”

Chapter 4: you cant separete!

Notes:

hey!! in really sorry but i deleted the yesterday’s chapter without wanting to, so thats the repost. later ill be posting a new chapter, im really really sorry!!

Chapter Text

now it was 6:32 a.m. and the family saw the sunrise together as they walked to the playground nearby.

at the request of the children, the four were holding hands, being the order soonyoung, chan, seungkwan and jihoon, the children shaking their parents' hands while chattering about how day was yesterday with uncle mingyu.

“you can go play, but don't leave the field of sight, okay?” soonyoung warned when they arrived.

to no one's surprise, it was too early for the playground to be full as it used to be at other times of the day, there were only a few people passing by to go to work and some old people walking or exercising.

“okay, dad!” seungkwan smiled and let go of jihoon and his brother's hand, both starting to walk to the toys when seungkwan came back and held the hand of the two parents again, putting them together. “it's not to separate!”

seungkwan warned as if he were scolding, now joining his brother on the swing.

soonyoung scratched his throat, strange about the situation. honestly, it seemed when seungkwan and chan were younger and when they fought, they had to spend the day holding hands to reconcile.

jihoon frowned and let go of the eldest hand, sitting on a bench and soon being followed by the other. It didn't take more than five minutes for chan to appear with an angry face and join hands again.

and this was repeated every time until jihoon gave in and let himself go hold hands with soonyoung.

at that moment, soonyoung felt again the teenager who was excited to hold jihoon's hand, at the time this being the maximum demonstration of public love that both had, when they were still afraid of people or what they could do.

and even if he felt that jihoon was hating, his heart was racing only by that minimal physical contact with jihoon after so long.

but jihoon only cheered for soonyoung not to be able to feel his heart racing.

“chan is going to fall.”

“hm?” jihoon blinked a few times, looking at soonyoung.

“chan is getting ready to jump off the rocker. he will fall.” the youngest let go of his hand and got up to go to his son, but soonyoung held his wrist. “leave him.”

“i won't let my son get hurt.”

“if he really falls he will understand that it hurts and will not try again. if you go there and intervene, he will be curious and another day he will try to do it, and then he will get hurt. i only warned you because you are the overprotective father here.”

“i’m not overprotective, soonyoung.”

“you're overprotective with everyone, hoon.”

“stop calling me by nickname.” closed his eyes and sat down again. soonyoung sighed but nodded.

jihoon fought a lot against the overprotective instinct to go there and prevent his son from jumping, but he really jumped and fell on his knees into the sand.

seungkwan went to his brother and cleaned their knees, so they were both laughing and running again.

[♡𖥻]

“wonwoo, i trust you more than mingyu, don't let your fiancé talk shit to my children.” jihoon asked.

soonyoung left early for work that day because now he was working as a backup dancer for a company idol and needed to prove the costume, so jihoon was responsible for receiving mingyu, the one who took the groom with him.

wonwoo had been mingyu's boyfriend since high school. during the process of adopting chan and seungkwan, wonwoo was a very important emotional pillar for soonyoung and jihoon, so they both considered him a lot. now working as an actor, he had few days off a month and, when he had them, he was up for almost anything to be on mingyu’s side, even when that means he is taking care of kids.

“relax, if anything happens i hit him.”

mingyu looked at the groom, offended, but jihoon just thanked him and left.

“uncle wonu!” chan hugged his uncle when he entered his room, the two children previously playing with dolls.

“i miss you, channie and kwannie!” knelt next to the children.

“uncle! are you going to help us?”

“help with what, kwan?”

“to make the dads be together again!” wonwoo looked at mingyu.

“why do i feel that this is your idea?”

“because it is!” mingyu smiled proudly and sealed his lips to jeon's, sitting next to him.

“don't you think this is a matter of soonyoung and jihoon, and that no one should get involved?”

“no!” the children answered in uníssom.

“do you know why they are separating?”

“no, uncle. do you know?” the older child approached his uncle.

“i don't know, kwan. but what i think is that if i didn't like mingyu anymore and wanted to separate, i wouldn't want anyone to intrude and i would be mad if they tried to make me change my mind.” he explained. “so, in my opinion, before you try to do anything, you need to find out the reason why they are divorcing.”

“uncle mingyu said they still like each other.”

“your uncle mingyu doesn't know anything, dino.”

“you can't talk about uncle mingyu like that, he's very smart!”

mingyu gave a high five in seungkwan saying a "that's it!" and wonwoo laughed.

“i’m not saying he's not.” he smiled. “but now let's leave the adult’s subject and let's play, how about it?”

Chapter 5: kiss to heal

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

“son, messing with a knife is dangerous, what do you think about you stirring the sauce and dad cutting the onion?”

seungkwan, who was helping his father make dinner, nodded. soonyoung took a chair and put it in front of the stove, helping his son to go up, the one who started stirring the white sauce while his father started cutting onions.

“dad, why are you and dad jihoon separating?”

soonyoung frowned and looked at the room where jihoon was with chan, those who didn't seem to hear the conversation.

“someone told a very ugly lie about me to dad jihoon and he believed it.” he murmured, looking at the board.

“why did dad believe a lie?”

“i don't know, son.” the child was silent for a few seconds.

“do you want to be separated from dad jihoon, dad?” soonyoung denied. “so why doesn't daddy tell dad that what they said is a lie?”

“i told you, kwan.”

“and he didn't believe it?”

“no.”

“why?”

“i don't know, son.” soonyoung looked at the child, who seemed concentrated while moving the pan.

“doesn't dad jihoon love you anymore? is that why he separating?” the adult felt his chest hurt a little with the question, looking at a random spot in the kitchen.

“i... i don't know, son. but-- oh!”

seungkwan looked at his father, who now had a feature of pain as blood flowed from his finger and dripped on the board.

the child quickly jumped out of the chair and went to the living room, starting to pull his father jihoon.

“dad! father cut himself!”

when they got to the kitchen again, soonyoung had his finger under the tap, the three of them there being able to see the water falling red from his finger.

jihoon first turned off the pan from the fire, and then touched the elder's shoulder.

“is everything okay?” soonyoung was scared by the sudden touch since he hadn't noticed that the other one was there.

“okay. yes, it is fine.” he smiled weakly, turning off the tap.

“give a kiss to heal, dad!” chan said, remembering all the times the dads kissed their bruises.

“no need, son! dad is fine!”

Soonyoung spoke quickly, but to his surprise, jihoon held his hand and left a brief seal on the wound. soonyoung stared at him static, and jihoon screamed in his own head that he did this only for the children not to insist.

“let's go take a shower, chan.” jihoon said after a few seconds of silence, pulling his son out of the kitchen.

[♡𖥻]

“dad! why don't you want to be with dad soonyoung anymore?”

chan asked his father who dried his hair with the towel. now the child was wearing white pajamas with little dinosaurs while his brother set the table for the family to have dinner downstairs.

“because your dad soonyoung did something that made dad very sad, son.”

“dad soonyoung is a bad person, then?” jihoon thought for a while.

“no, my dear. he's not a bad person.” turned his son to himself, starting to dry his bangs.

“so why did dad do that?”

“i don't know, son. but dad soonyoung is a good father to you, isn't he?” the child nodded. “so you don't have to worry about that. it’s an adult thing.”

“when we do something bad, we need to apologize, right?” jihoon agreed. “dad soonyoung apologized?” the adult denied. “if dad apologizes, won't you split up anymore?”

“i don't know, it's not that easy.” he murmured, now leaving the towel aside. “even with us separating, we will continue here being your dads and the seungkwan dads, so it's not for either of you to intervene in our decision, okay?”

even if grudgingly, the child nodded, then took the towel to spread on the balcony clothesline and went to the kitchen.

the dinner that night was very quiet where both adults and children were too lost in their own thoughts.

[♡𖥻]

“can't you sleep?”

jihoon turned when he heard the voice and rolled his eyes.

it was past two in the morning and jihoon was in the backyard of the house. apparently, just like him, soonyoung couldn't fall asleep.

“the kids... also asked you why we broke up?” soonyoung asked what was in his head since dinner. jihoon nodded. “and what did you say...?”

“the truth.”

“your truth is a little distorted.” he murmured, sitting next to jihoon. the youngest got up. “why do you act like that?”

“just like that?”

“like this. ignores me, leaves when i get close, doesn't listen to me, but then gives a kiss to heal when i get hurt and is worried.” soonyoung stared at the door of the house with tears in his eyes. jihoon remained standing.

“because it's not easy for me to end up like this. i still love you, soonyoung.”

“it doesn't look like it.”

“what did you say?”

“i said it doesn't seem like it. “ he repeated, this time a little louder. “it doesn't seem like you love me. you preferred to believe in a stranger than to believe in your husband even when your husband proved to you that the stranger was lying.”

“you didn't prove anything to me, kwon.”

“is it that easy for you to end a relationship?”

“who are you to say this after so many nights that i spent crying because of you? when did you not even have the consideration of admitting that you made a mistake?”

“i didn't admit that i made a mistake because i didn't make a mistake! what the fuck, jihoon! why don't you believe me?” tears were already wetting the faces of the two men there.

“soonyoung, i don't want to argue now having the chance for the children to wake up and see us like this.”

“but i want to!” got up, facing jihoon. “i want to discuss if this will make you take out your frustrations and then, maybe, you will listen to me.”

“soonyoung, please, this is not the time to talk about it.”

“so when is it?” he whispered, getting closer. “you know that the divorce papers will come at any moment. i won't force you to stay in a relationship with me, jihoon, i will never force you to anything, but do you really want to end this marriage without even knowing my side of the story? did you really love me at some point, jihoon?”

soonyoung was too close for the taste of jihoon, and jihoon hated it.

because there, looking into the eyes of the eldest, being able to feel his breath and see his tears, jihoon remembered the man he fell in love with. he remembered all the good times. of the happiness of marriage. the first time he had seungkwan and chan as his children.

there, being so close, jihoon missed the feeling of soonyoung's lips in his. he missed the nicknames, the touches, all the positive emotions that soonyoung has always caused him.

and didn't control that will.

held soonyoung's wet face and joined his lips in a quick seal. a simple peck that made soonyoung hold the air and jihoon cry more when he walked away, leaving a simple caress on the other's face before walk away.

“i’m sorry, soonyoung, but now i don't have the mind to talk.”

and went inside the house again.

chan woke up early that morning because he was thirsty, so he went down the stairs carefully to go to the kitchen when he saw his father sitting on the jamb of the backyard door.

it was strange, because it was still too early and that morning it was cold, so he went to the adult and touched his shoulder. soonyoung had his face wet by tears and a tired appearance. unlike all the other times his son saw him crying, soonyoung did not try to disguise it, letting himself be hugged by his son who now passes his small hands through his father's

“dad, don't cry. if dad gets sad, chan is sad too.” he said after a few minutes of silence. dad sniffed softly with his head on his son's shirt.

“sorry dad for that, okay?” he walked away and left a kiss on his son's hair, getting up. he wiped his face with trembling hands. “dad is going to take a shower and then comes to make breakfast for you, okay?”

chan made a beak and saw his father disappear down the hallway. deciding then that he wanted to see how jihoon was, the child went up the stairs again and walked to his parents' room.

chan knocked on the door three times and waited a while. when he did not receive answers, he opened the door slowly, seeing jihoon lying on the bed with a red face and a wet pillow. the child made a beak and closed the door, climbing the bed and lying down with his father, sleeping caressing jihoon's head.

now a week had passed since that morning and the vibe in the house was horrible. jihoon again ignored soonyoung and all the time the children saw some of the parents sad around the house, even if the adults tried at all costs to look happy close to the children.

it had also been five days since the divorce papers were on the counter, just waiting for them to be signed so that the decision was legally made.

jihoon held the pen to sign countless times, but couldn't do it in any of them. soonyoung wouldn't sign until jihoon signed.

at this time, the children understood that something happened, but they did not dare to ask or do anything, not wanting to make worse what already seemed terrible.

mingyu even tried to talk to his brother or soonyoung, but neither of them said anything and that was already despairing the man who saw not only the adults get depressed, but the children get sad about the situation.

now it was a friday, soonyoung was at the company and jihoon took advantage of the day off to go visit his mother, in order to vent to someone everything that happened.

“my son, i already said that you don't need to live with that man. you can come live here.” she served tea to her son, sitting in front of jihoon at the round table.

“that's not how it works, mom. we have children together, i can't just abandon them.”

she snapped her tongue, a feature of disgust.

“they are not your children, lee jihoon. they are not blood.”

“don't start, mom.”

“i've been against this relationship since the beginning of you know. i told you that you shouldn't adopt them, and now that soonyoung cheated on you and you get stuck in the same house as him for someone else's children!” he continued.

jihoon stared at his mother angry, getting up.

“i'm leaving. i don't even know why i came here to start the conversation.”

“you have to stop running away every time i tell the truth, my son.”

“it's not the truth, mom.” jihoon was already at the door. “seungkwan and chan are my children whether you want it or not. they are your grandchildren.”

“they are not!”

“mom, i say this because I love you, you already lost mingyu when you started complaining about his fiancé, you almost lost me when you started talking shit about soonyoung years ago and you will lose me if you keep talking about my children.” warned. “you are against this relationship from the beginning because soonyoung is a man, mother. and even if he continued to be a incredible husband to me as he always were, you would keep being against us.”

“i'm your mother, lee jihoon. respect me!”

“i respect you, mom, but it's time for you to respect me. this is my last warning.”

[♡𖥻]

“oh, honey, why are you crying?”

mingyu asked worried, holding seungkwan on his lap, chan stood on his toes and tried to clean his brother's face.

“u-uncle... why... are the dads l-like this?”

mingyu didn't have to ask to know what the "like this" meant. he sighed and sat on the couch, trying to think of the best words to explain it.

“kwan... look, sorry uncle, but i don't know what happened this time.” he stroked his hair and pulled chan to be closer to them. “the dads need to talk.”

“but... but dad jihoon won't let dad soonyoung talk!”

“i know, dino. your dad jihoon is hot-headed and won't listen to anyone of his own free will now.”

the three were silent for a few minutes. seungkwan consequently stopped crying and the three heads worked at full speed, trying to think of a solution to the problem.

“uncle…” seungkwan called. “i have an idea to make them talk... but dad will be very, very angry. and we'll have to wait until monday.”

[♡𖥻]

“i’m home.” soonyoung announced and entered the house.

the two children were now on the couch with jihoon. the wet hair of the two showed that both had already taken a shower. jihoon was in the middle of the two, a pot of popcorn on his lap while "tangled" was on tv.

“it took a while.” it was the only thing jihoon said, turning his head a little.

“sorry.” he murmured. “i had more work today.”

“i see…” soonyoung closed his eyes. “have you had dinner?”

“...no.”

the eldest was finding that conversation strange, not really understanding the reason for the question.

“dad!” seungkwan paused the movie. “dad, we made some delicious food, we left it for you, look!”

seungkwan pulled his father to the kitchen, showing the plate of food in the microwave, then left a seal on his father's cheek and returned to the living room, playing the movie again.

minutes later, while soonyoung ate, jihoon appeared in the kitchen.

“come watch a movie with us when you're done there.”

“can i ask why you're weird, or are you going to ignore me again?”

“mingyu said that seungkwan cried today.” he said softly, not wanting the children to listen. “because of how we are. i don't want them to be like this.”

“ah... okay. i’ll be right there.”

juhoin nodded, went back to the living room and sat on the couch, but left a space for soonyoung next to him.

Chapter Text

jihoon woke up at dawn feeling something hot on top of him.

it turned out that jihoon slept on the couch with chan on top of him, seungkwan slept occupying half the couch and soonyoung slept sitting on the carpet while watching TV.

jihoon moaned when he saw that it was four in the morning and closed his eyes to sleep again, hugging his son. he was almost asleep again when he noticed that chan was too hot.

the father frowned and put his hand on his own forehead and then on the little one's forehead, getting frightened by the temperature.

“are you sick, baby?”

whisperes like a rhetorical question, caressing his son's slightly sweaty hair and taking him off of himself, laying the child on the couch, on his brother's side, thinking about what to do.

“soonyoung. hey, soonyoung.” shook the older one. “soonyoung, fuck, wake up.”

“i’m not.” he murmured, dodging jihoon's hands.

“fucking i’m not.” he shook him again until he saw him open an eye. “chan has a fever.”

soonyoung took a while to understand the phrase because of tiredness, but woke up quickly when he understood what happened.

jihoin has always been terrible taking care of sick people, so when the children got sick, the person in charge was soonyoung.

the eldest turned to where his son was, kneeling on the floor, and put his hand on his forehead, just to confirm that he was really sick.

“get the thermometer in the bathroom, please.”

asked in a low and hoarse voice for sleep, jihoon nodded and obeyed him.

while jihoon was going to get what was requested, soonyoung took his eldest son on his lap and took him to the children's room. he left a kiss on his son's forehead and covered him.

when he returned to the room, jihoon was already there measuring his son's temperature.

“thirty-eight and a half.” he said when the thermometer whistled.

“take him to the bedroom.”

jihoon did what was asked.

when soonyoung went up to the room, holding a medicine and a wet cloth, he found chan lying under the blanket and jihoon next to him, messing with the child's hair.

soonyoung smiled at the scene, a little nostalgic.

“what's that for?” pointed to the towel in kwon's hand.

“so that his fever doesn't increase while he sleeps.” he explained, putting the towel on his son's forehead and the medicine on top of the desk. “give him ten ml when he wakes up.” he asked. “good night, jihoon.”

soonyoung was ready to leave the room and let them both sleep when his wrist was held.

“sleep here too. you know how sticky chan gets when he's sick, he'll want both of us.”

soonyoung frowned. it seemed like a lame excuse, but after being refused so many time, he was not the one who would deny it, so he lay down on the other end of the bed, leaving chan between the two adults.

“are you going to ignore me again when you wake up?” jihoon was silent. “i wonder if we can't talk?”

“why do you only ask this at horrible times?”

“because you ignore me when we are not in horrible moments.”

“ah…”

they were silent again.

“ don't cheated on you.” he said quickly.

“soonyoung, go to sleep.”

“can we talk sometime?”

“kwon soonyoung. go to sleep.” he repeated. chan moved in bed with the noise.

“sleep well, jihoon. i love you.”

[♡𖥻]

when jihoon woke up again in the morning, he noticed an extra person in bed.

seungkwan was stuck between the two parents, the brothers now sleeping hugging. jihoon assumed that the son woke up earlier and looked for them around the house, lying along with the three when he found them. smiled at the scene and kissed the cheek of each of the children. almost left a seal on soonyoung, but gave up in the middle of the way.

jihoon got up and changed the towel on his son's forehead, since the other was already dry, so he went down to the kitchen to make breakfast.

“good morning, jihoon.”

jihoon was scared when he heard a voice behind him, turning around and staring at soonyoung.

“did you sleep well?” jihoon again put butter on the bread to make bread on the plate, ignoring it. “jihoon, what's up with you? why do you ask me to sleep with you and the next day you ignore me?”

“my god, soonyoung. ten in the morning still. be quiet.”

soonyoung sat on one of the chairs at the table.

“you know that what chan has is emotional, right?”

“what?”

“he didn't get cold, he didn't stay close to anyone sick, he didn't get rain... he has no reason to be physically sick, but he's been stressed for a week and a half because dad jihoon is being rude to dad soonyoung.” he faced jihoon. “he has an emotional fever, probably. so can you, for one day, treat me like a person, at least in front of them?”

jihoon stared at soonyoung, surprised by his tone. since the beginning of all that, soonyoung have been affectionate, so it was strange to see that he was the one who was speaking in an aggressive tone.

soonyoung was dealing with all this because he could understand his husband's side, but something that should have been their own was affecting his children and it irritated him.

“for our children.”

“thank you.” kwon replied ironically, getting up and going back to the room.

when soonyoung opened the bedroom door, seungkwan was sitting scratching his eyes.

“good morning, my love!” took the child in his lap and hugged her. “how are you?”

“fine... why did the dads and chan sleep together without me?” the child made a beak, looking upset. it had been so long since he slept with the two parents together that he felt sad that they didn't call him to be together.

“oh, baby, chan is sick, that's why. sorry dad, hm?” kissed the cheek of his son who was now looking at his brother.

“will the brother be okay...?”

“yes, don't worry, son, soon he'll be better, okay?” the child nodded and hugged his father's neck. “dadjihoon is downstairs, what do you think about going for breakfast?”

the child agreed and jumped from his father's lap, going down the stairs to find jihoon in the kitchen putting two loaves of bread in the frying pan.

“good morning, dad.” he sat on the chair, shaking his little legs in the air.

“good morning, baby!” he left a seal on his son's hair. “do you want to help dad make breakfast?” jihoon asked, knowing how much his son liked to cook with his parents.

“i want to, dad.“ and, even though he was lazy, he got up from his chair and started helping his father.

upstairs, chan woke up bothered by the cold cloth on his head and started crying when he couldn't find anyone with him.

“baby, hey, don't cry, dad is here!” the son looked at him with wet eyes, quickly hugging his father, who passed his hand up and down on his back.

“w-where is dad and brother...?”

“they are having breakfast. let’s take medicine and go down too?” soonyoung took the medicine from the desk, already pouring the ten ml into the cap.

“does it taste bad?”

“i don't know, son.” was sincere. “but you have to take it, if you're not going to stay sick. you take the medicine and then we brush our teeth, it won't even taste in your mouth, okay?”

half grudgingly the child nodded, making faces when he felt the bitter taste on his tongue.

when they came down, they found jihoon and seungkwan eating bread together while talking. soonyoung sat next to seungkwan, chan refusing to leave his lap.

“good morning, chan!” chan mumbled a ‘good morning’ back to his father. “what are you feeling, son?”

“i’m tired.” he murmured. “and my body is sick.”

“take it, brother!” seungkwan extended a loaf of bread and a glass of juice to his brother.

and, for a weekend, the family managed to live peacefully again.

Chapter Text

soonyoung was right, it was emotional.

chan spent the whole weekend without getting rid of his parents or brother or even to sleep, making the four of them sleep together in their parents' bed.

and, to the surprise of everyone there, jihoon managed to spend a weekend without being so ignorant with soonyoung, but it is obvious that this changed the second they both stepped out of the house on monday and jihoon was able to ignore soonyoung again, since they were now away from their children.

the clock was 18:10, it was less than an hour before jihoon left work. the man was in his studio just killing time, since he had already finished all his work, when soonyoung entered his studio without knocking on the door, making him angry enough to almost start screaming at the eldest, at least until he noticed how soonyoung was panting and with tears

“jihoon! seungkwan called... i don't know what happened... he told us to go home quickly... mingyu is not answering…”

jihoon didn't even bother to turn off the computer, pick up his things or lock the door, soonyoung's speech was enough for jihoon to hold his hand and run to the parking lot.

the youngest thought of a thousand and one possibilities of what happened to his children, no good option, but worried even more about the fact that mingyu was not answering the phone and soonyoung seemed that he would have a panic attack at any moment.

jihoon was the one who drove, since he was in better condition - and also because lee drove like an escape pilot - while soonyoung stayed in the passenger seat calling mingyu, having the call falling in the mailbox every time, and the hundreds of messages he sent being sent but not viewed.

when he got home, jihoon didn't even park the car right, he stopped it anyway in front of the residence and they both ran to the door, being cautious when entering the house.

everything was too quiet, which only increased their concern.

“kwan? chan? mingyu?” soonyoung called around the house, not receiving any answer.

their hearts beat too fast inside their chests as they climbed the stairs and came across the door of their children's room closed. the two adults looked at each other for a few seconds and jihoon took his hand to the handle, opening it slowly.

the room was very dark. the curtains and closed windows did not let any kind of light in. jihoon released the handle and walked inside the room next to soonyoung, groping the wall until he found the switch, turning on the light.

and then they saw...

nothing. the kids weren't there.

both parents looked at each other worried about the lack of presence of their children, but when they were going to leave the room, they saw a hand pulling the handle and heard the noise of the door being locked.

jihoon recognized the ring on the finger of that hand.

and then all jihoon's concern became anger.

“kim mingyu! open the fucking door!” knocked on the door.

“dad! you can't say an ugly word!” heard chan’s high-pitched voice.

“chan and seungkwan, cover your ears.” jihoon asked, and waited a few seconds to continue. “mingyu, i know you're after this fucking door, it's good for you to open this stupid thing ofnow if you don't want to have problems!”

“you're very stressed, jihoon! you can say as many bad words as you want, we will only open the door when the two of you decide to act like adults and talk.”

“dad, are you mad?”

“i’m very angry now, chan! you worried me a lot!”

jihoon kicked the door and walked from side to side in the room, stopping in front of soonyoung who until now was static, and hitting his chest.

“aren't you going to say anything?!”

“no... i’m going, i’m sorry. it’s just that, wow…” laughed weakly. “it’s just that I was so crazy with worry that i’m very relieved that it was just a joke of them.”

kwon came out of his own trance and walked to the door, knocking on her weakly.

“open it, son.”

“no!” chan and seungkwan spoke at the same time.

“i tried.”

soonyoung shrugged to jihoon who stared at him in disbelief and walked to his children's bed, sitting there.

“look, we'll leave the door for half an hour to give you privacy, then we'll see if you let go. try not to kill each other!”

mingyu warned and the two heard steps moving away from the door.

“i can't believe you'll just accept this.” jihoon turned to soonyoung, leaning on the door until he sat on the floor.

“it’s not accepting, jihoon. its’s just that there's nothing else to do. my cell phone is in the car, yours is in the company, we're not going to break down the door and they've already left. unless you're willing to jump out of the second floor window, we won't go out until they let us left the room.”

jihoon hated to admit that, but soonyoung was right. the youngest sighed defeated.

“you could listen to me now that you have no other choice, right?”

“listen to what, soonyoung? are you going to admit that there's another guy?”

“no, because there isn't.” he faced some point after another. “don't you think it's strange how, out of nowhere, a man i don't know appeared claiming to be my lover? jihoon, i’ve always made it clear how much i love you more than anything.”

“you know it wasn't just that. there are the prints and photos of you too, and-“

“and i let you move my whole cell phone looking for the contact of those screenshots and photos, and even so you didn't find anything.” soonyoung stared at jihoon, the one who looked away. “and, if i had my cell phone here, i would leave it again, and again, and again, because i have nothing to hide from you.”

“it’s not that simple! damn, soonyoung, can't you just respect my decision? “ raised the tone.

“i’m sorry.” he whispered, approaching jihoon. “i’m orry. i would never betray you, jihoon, i would never do that to you, to our children, to us.”

“ know! i know, that sucks! it’s confusing, i don't know what to believe.” his eyes watered. “on one side there are photos and screenshots showing conversations of you, and my mother pressing me to finish at once, and on the other there's you who... argh, i don't think you would do that.”

“because i wouldn't do it.” he whispered. “jihoon, look how many years we've been together. have i ever left any doubts about my feelings for you?” the youngest was quiet. “even with your mother saying in my face that i wasn't good for you, with all the headache that was getting married legally, with all the problems about the adoption. i ever left you doubts about how i feel?”

lsoonyoung, but…” jihoon sighed, closing his eyes for a few seconds, few tears running down his cheeks. “why would a stranger invent that he is your lover, and take the trouble to edit photos and screenshots ? that’s what doesn't get into my head.”

both were silent, staring at each other.

“i don't want to be in this situation. - jihoon said quietly.” it's hard, okay? i miss our relationship.”

soonyoung was quiet. he didn't know what to say, he could understand what jihoon was feeling and understood that he was in a difficult position. again they felt lost in each other's eyes, like a magnet attracting them, they began to get closer until they could feel each other's breath. soonyoung's hand went to jihoon's face, leaving a caressing there. jihoon put his hand under soonyoung’s and looked at his lips. missing him.

so the two heard the doorbell echoing around the house and looked at each other.

“are you waiting for someone?” jihoon asked, soonyoung denied it.

they were silent, imagining that mingyu would open the door and really opened it. they both heard a female voice echoing around the house, but they couldn't understand who it was.

apent a few more seconds in silence. jihoon sitting leaning against the door and soonyoung kneeling in front of him, then they heard footsteps echoing on the floor and a key being slid under the door.

“the satan you call mother is here, jihoon.” the dads heard a childish giggle being accompanied by mingyu's speech and smiled, moving away and sniffling low. “open the door if you want. if you take more than five minutes I understand the message and kick her out.”

Chapter 9: i hate you - pt2

Chapter Text

soonyoung could not believe that, just when the conversation was going well, his mother-in-law appeared to get in the way.

now he was in the living room drinking water while jihoon was talking to his mother in the bedroom. mingyu in the backyard distracting the children.

soonyoung sat on the couch and sighed, having his attention drawn to a notification of an unknown cell phone on top of the couch.

jihoon’s mother's cell phone.

soonyoung squirmed his face and denied it. he wouldn't see the woman's cell phone. he had no right to do that.

but then another notification arrived.

and another one.

and another one.

and another until the screen shone and soonyoung saw the profile picture of the contact who sent a message so much. the photo seemed too familiar, although he couldn't recognize who it was.

he looked around just to make sure he was alone, then took his cell phone, seeing on the home screen that the man seemed to charge the woman, threatening to tell him something if she didn't pay him, regardless of what that meant.

soonyoung bit his cheek and apologized to jihoon mentally, trying some password combinations until the cell phone unlocked when he tried jihoon's birthday.

rethought a few times, knowing very well that it was an invasion of privacy and was wrong to do that, but the photo seemed strangely too familiar.

soonyoung wouldn't read the conversation, he would just open the photo and try to remember who it was. that’s all.

fought a lot against the desire to move the screen up and read what the man charged her, but he didn't do that, he just opened the profile picture.

squeezed his eyes, needing two whole minutes to understand who he was, only then recognizing it.

he was the man who called himself soonyoung's lover.

but why...?

soonyoung felt tears on his cheeks when he began to understand and left the profile picture, rolling the conversation up and reading everything.

messages that started weeks before the day jihoon freaked out with him because someone got in touch saying she was her husband's lover. messages passing jihoon's contact and telling him exactly what to say and do. messages asking you to change prints and photos to make it look like something else.

soonyoung suddenly felt dizzy. he know that jihoon's mother was against the relationship from the beginning, but would she go that far?

“why are you messing with the devil cell phone?” soonyoung raised his head, finding the confused and judgmental look of mingyu who had entered the house to get something for the children to eat.

“mingyu-ah... your mother…”

upstairs, jihoon was sitting on the bed while his mother walked back and forth in the bedroom.

“why were you talking to that man?!”

“hey, stop screaming.” jihoon asked, patient.

“what did he tell you? huh? jihoon, answer!”

“mom, is not of your business . did you really come here just to yell at me because i was talking to my children's father?” the man frowned, the woman suddenly stopping in the middle of the room.

“no, no, of course not!” took a deep breath, staring at his son. “i came to apologize... for what i said about your... children.” he pronounced the last word lower. - “i don't want to lose you, my baby. you are my only son.”

jihoon made a face with the last sentence, he still thought it was impressive how the woman erased mingyu quickly.

“you forgive mom, don't you?”

the lady now seemed to be on the verge of tears, going to her son and hugging him, cradling her head with her arms as she did when he was a little child.

“i forgive, mom. but you have to stop doing this every time. say something ridiculous and apologize as if it were nothing.”

“i know, my love. mom is going to stop, okay? i love you, my baby.’

“i love you too, mom.” jihoon aspired the smell of his mother's perfume, feeling calm.

“about soonyoung, son... what were you talking about, hm?” walked away from his son, still holding his head with both hands.

“ah... he was explaining to me his side of the story. about everything that happened…”

the woman seemed angry again.

“you didn't believe him, did you? son, that man cheated on you!”

jihoon made a face, thinking about how to respond when he heard loud footsteps and his brother's voice.

“you son of a bitch! why did you do that, huh?” mingyu entered the room in revolted, being followed by soonyoung who was trying to hold him. “you really can't see any of your children happy, right?”

“what is that, you crazy man? did you lose respect once and for all?” the woman screamed louder.

“first you lower the tone that if you know how to scream i know much more!” soonyoung, from the door, looked downstairs, worried that his children would hear them. jihoon faced the paralyzed scene. “tell jihoon who is soonyoung’s ‘other man’, hm? say!”

“mingyu, calm down, please.” soonyoung asked, holding the other's arm.

“i don't calm down, soonyoung. i’m surprised you're not as angry as me!”

“i am, but I don't want my children to see this!” he explained.

lcan someone explain to me what the fuck is going on?” jihoon spoke, interspersing the look between the other three present there.

“show him, soonyoung. show him what his mom has been doing behind his back.”

soonyoung rethought a few times before approaching jihoon and extending the unlocked cell phone. the woman suddenly panicked.

“i can't believe you took my cell phone!” he shouted, starting to slap soonyoung to get the device since the man had now raised his arm to take it out of his reach. “you crazy! don’t you have respect for the privacy of others?”

soonyoung was quiet. he knew he was wrong to touch the woman's cell phone, but he didn't regret it, so he only worked on not letting her pick up the cell phone while receiving the slaps, because he wouldn't come back.

“stop it!” jihoon screamed and pushed his mother. “don't hit him!” he pointed his finger.

“are you going to hit me, son? look at the aggressive influence this traitor is!”

“i’m not stupid like you.” he murmured, taking the cell phone from soonyoung's hand. “you have a chance to explain it to me before i see what mingyu wants me to see.” he warned. the woman turned pale.

“jihoon, i’m your mother and I'm telling you to give my cell phone!”

jihoob denied it and turned the cell phone screen to himself, seeing that he was in a conversation two months ago. he frowned and started reading.

the silence that was in the room was loud. the woman was in panic walking from one side to the other, mingyu warned that he would leave so as not to be more stressed and soonyoung bit his anxious lip, waiting for jihoon to sketch any reaction.

none of the three knows exactly how much time has passed, but when it was over, jihoon looked at his mother with such disgust that no one there has ever seen.

“get out of my house.”

“son, let mom explain…”

“no. don't call me son. i’m not your son.” extended the cell phone, the tone of voice too low. “i don't want to know why you did this, i want you to leave my house.”

“jihoon, are you going to choose this one to choose your mother?” jihoon approached, and then spoke quietly enough for even soonyoung to hear.

“if i have to repeat it, it will be to call the police, and i’m serious. i never want to see you again in my life. you are nothing to me other than the person who tried to destroy my family. get out of my house.”

the lady stared at her son, waiting for any sign that he was calming down but finding only anger, so she took the cell phone out of her hand and walked angry to the door, pushing soonyoung in the process and muttering a "i hate you" before leaving the house.

jihoon breathed heavily and soonyoung stood at the door. both stared at each other for a few seconds and, as a perfect timing, heard the children cry in the hallway.

“...i’m going to see the children.” soonyoung said before leaving the room and leaving jihoon alone.

theeldest went to his children and took them to the adults' room, sitting them both on the bed and hugging them.

“you don't need to cry, my loves. everything is fine now.” spoke softly, caressing the hair of the two children scared by the screaming of before. seungkwan and chan have always been sensitive to discussions.

“w-why was grandma screaming?”

“because... grandma did something very ugly that made dad jihoon very angry, dino.”

“what did she do, dad?” seungkwan asked, looking at her father.

“she lied to dad jihoon, son. that's why dad jihoon was mad at me.”

“so... so dad jihoon is not mad at dad anymore?” the child looked at his father hopeful.

“no... i don't think so.”

then, as if they weren't crying two seconds ago, the two children began to scream and celebrate how the plan had worked and how dad would no longer separate from dad.

soonyoung smiled and did not try to stop the screaming, he only stayed around when they started jumping on the bed, preventing the children from falling. although he was still stunned by what happened a few minutes ago, he felt that now things at least were easier to solve.

“dad! we have to go out to celebrate!” dino hugged his father's tight neck.

“i think dad jihoon doesn't want to go out now... but we can order food online, how about that?”

the children looked at each other and then nodded. soonyoung went to get his cell phone from the car, when he came back he handed it into the children's hands, letting them decide what they wanted.

when the children decided what they wanted to eat - pizza -, soonyoung let the two of them play on their cell phone so they could go after jihoon.

“we ordered pizza.” soonyoung warned after entering the room. jihoon was sitting on the bed, previously staring at the closed door to now look at the older one. “do you want to talk now, or…?”

jihoon made a signal for soonyoung to approach and soonyoung closed the door behind him, approaching the bed. when he was close enough, jihoon hugged his waist, pulling him close and leaning his head against his belly.

“forgive me, soon. forgive me, forgive me, forgive me.” jihoon repeated. felt guilty and ashamed for the way he was acting with soonyoung. “forgive me for not believing in you and treating you so badly. i should have trusted you before letting all this happen.”

soonyoung felt like it was a weight taken from his back, he had been trying for so long to prove that he didn't do anything that was a huge relief to be there now, having jihoon hugging him and apologizing.

“i’ll understand if you need some time or something.” soonyoung felt your t-shirt get wet and assumed that jihoon was crying. “just forgive me for that. you didn't deserve any of this. neither you nor the children. i’m sorry. i’m sorry.” the youngest stroked his waist a little before squeezing it more against him. “i’m sorry for how i’m treating you, for let my mom do that and for put our kids in the middle of everything.”

god, how the two missed that contact, being so close to each other.

jihoon squeezed so much soonyoung that soonyoung almost felt difficulty breathing, but would never push him away. soonyoung felt relieved as never before, finally having his innocence proven after a whole month in that torture. he felt good knowing that his life could finally return to axis. but leaving his relief aside, he imagined how horrible jihoon should be feeling for having been be

the funny thing is that jihoon was thinking almost the same way.

he felt guilty for not imposing limits on his mother before he reached that level. he felt ashamed for how he acted. he felt like a horrible person for everything he did and said to soonyoung. for letting his children witness it. but above all, he thought about how soonyoung should be feeling for being treated so badly by his own husband even without having a shred of guilt.

“are you okay?” soonyoung messed with jihoon's short hair.

“i’m the one who should ask you that! howare you? did she hurt you?” soonyoung pushed away, looking at him looking for any sign of injury.

“i’m fine.” he smiled. “i’m very relieved, actually.” his hands went to jihoon's cheeks, caressing his face.

“forgive me, my love.” jihoon stood up, the bodies almost glued. “for everything. i’m sorry.” he left a seal on the lips of the highest.

“it's okay.”

“you are very nice.” jihoon smiled. “i love you, love.”

“ love you too, kitty.”

“forgive me.”

“i already said that everything is fine.”

so jihoon finally ended the distance between the two, in a passionate kiss.

like the first time they kissed, they felt all the emotions on the skin. the longing for so long in discussion without the touch, the affection they felt so much for each other, the love that, despite everything, never faded, the care they had not to do anything wrong, the apology of jihoon and the forgiveness of soonyoung.

jihoon now caressed soonyoung's skin under his blouse, and soonyoung had a hand on the back of his neck and another on his shoulder, both affectionate as never before while the tongues danced in perfect sync.

“they are giving an adult kiss, dino…” they heard a whisper behind them and separated in a fright.

seungkwan, like a good older brother, now covered chan's eyes with one hand while the other was on the door handle, looking at his parents.

when both children were younger, soonyoung and jihoon taught them that kissing on parts of the body such as the mouth and thigh was an adult kiss, while on the cheek and hair it was a kiss that a child could give, and since then the children said that the parents were giving an "adult kiss" whenever they saw them kissing.

dino made a surprise expression and let out an "ahh" when he heard that his parents were kissing.

“did the dads date again?”

jihoon looked soonyoung, who nodded.

“we are dating again, son.”

“so the dads will be happy again?” seungkwan even let his hand out of his brother's eyes, looking at his parents hopeful. the children had understood before that daddy jihoon wasn't angry anymore, but they didn't know how things would work from then on.

“yea, son. the dads will be happy again.”

Chapter Text

soonyoung opened his arms in bed in order to hug jihoon only to find an emptiness where the youngest should be.

blinked his eyes a little stunned and got up so fast that his blood pressure almost dropped. didn't it happen yesterday? were you still fighting with jihoon?

felt a twinge in his chest. everything seemed so real...

he took his cell phone and saw that it was still too early for anyone to be awake. he made a beak and went down the stairs hoping to find jihoon. the couch was also empty.

sighed defeated, accepting that yesterday was an invention of his head and walked to the kitchen. He stopped at the door when he saw jihoon on his back looking like cooking something.

jihoon seemed in a good mood, but he didn't get close, afraid of doing something wrong.

“why do you always arrive quietly in the rooms when you wake up, huh?” jihoon said after being scared to see her husband standing at the door. “seungkwan also does that. he pulled you

jihoon just dropped the boiling water on the cove and approached soonyoung.

“did you see a ghost? is your soul still in bed?” he put his hand in front of the elder's face.

“did yesterday happened?” jihoon tipped his head to the side and frowned.

“it happened, huh... soony, do you want to go back to bed? it's still early.”

soonyoung let out a relieved sigh when he heard the nickname and smiled, hugging jihoon by the waist.

“good morning!” he laid her head on his shoulder. jihoon hugged her husband's shoulders. “youwoke up so early. why?”

“i wanted to make you breakfast.”

soonyoung nodded and was silent. jihoon still felt like he had a debt to soonyoung and, from then on, he would do everything to show his love for the elder, even if in small acts like making a breakfast that soonyoung liked.

jihoon moved soonyoung away from his shoulder and approached to kiss his lips. the oldest moved away.

“let me kiss you, love.”

“i haven't brushed my teeth yet.” soonyoung made a face and jihoon shapped his tongue.

“sixteen years together and you're still in it.”

“i’m clean.” jihoon smiled.

“yes, yes, mr clean. go brush your teeth while I end up here, then.”

soonyoung nodded and left a kiss on jihoon's cheek, before going up again. before going to his own room, he took a peek in his children's room. the two slept like little angels, he imagined that they would still take a long time to wake up, since they slept late the night before.

when soonyoung returned to the kitchen again, after taking a shower and doing all his morning hygiene, jihoon was sitting at the table messing with his cell phone. the table now full of bread and sweets that soonyoung liked.

kwon smiled. that scene was still like a relief for soonyoung, after the long he spent fighting with her husband.

“now yes, good morning.” bowed to leave a kiss on jihoon's lips.

“good morning, my love.” sealed his lips again before pulling the chair for him to sit. jihoon smiled when he saw how her husband was dressed. “are you going to work today?” lee took a hand to soonyoung's wet hair.

usually soonyoung and jihoon had days off on the weekend, but as soonyoung is a dancer of some artists, sometimes it happened to participate in shows or stages on the weekend, or just need to rehearse.

“i’m going. but i’ll be home early, i’m just going to do a stage.”

“i’ll be waiting to watch you on youtube, then.”

the breakfast was full of conversations where both adults got their things up to date after a month without talking properly.

now the two were on the sofa in the living room, watching a little the good place before soonyoung needed to go to work. jihoon had his head on the elder's shoulder and the hands of both were intertwined when they heard the sound of something falling in the kitchen.

“rock, paper, scissors?”

jihoon nodded, complaining when he lost.

when jihoon arrived in the kitchen he found chan, sulking, standing on top of a chair, while some plastic cups were lying on the floor.

“dad! i tried to get my glass, but i dropped everything!” chan seemed upset with himself. jihoon couldn't help but laugh at the cuteness of his son who, although he was sulking, looked cute with his crumpled face and messy hair.

“why didn't you call dad, my love?” he held his son in his lap and put him down on the chair, making a mental note of leaving the children's glasses lower and thanking him for the glasses that fell were made of plastic, not glass.

“because you and dad were being boyfriends, i didn't want to get in the way.” jihoon laughed and chan seemed more angry, not understanding the reason for the laugh.

“you never get in the way, son.l both just collected the glasses and jihoon kept them, leaving what chan and seungkwan used the most on the table. later he would find a place downstairs to leave them. “has your brother woken up yet?”

“ woke up seungkwan, dad. but he's lazy and didn't get up!”

“don't talk like that about your brother.” scolded, putting the chair that chan had taken back on the table. “kwon soonyoung!” called.

soonyoung arrived in the kitchen surprisingly fast.

“i’m sorry.” jihoon looked at him confused.

“‘i’m sorry’ for what?”

“i don't know, you called me by my full name.” jihoon laughed. although soonyoung was already in his thirties, he still looked like a child sometimes. “good morning, son!”

“you're going to call kwan to have coffee with chan, love.”

soonyoung nodded. when he got to his son's room, seungkwan was totally under the blanket, he assumed that his son should be running away from the sunlight since the window was open - possibly chan who opened it.

soonyoung sat on the edge of the bed and put his hand on top of the mound he had under the blanket, feeling his son stir.

“good morning, kwan! shall we wake up?”

“i don't want to.” said muffled, the father pulled the blanket, watching his son squeeze his eyes and turn to the other side. “get out, dad!”

“your brother has already woken up, son.”

“i know!” soonyoung pulled seungkwan to sit on the bed, the one who opened his eyes, blinking them as he got used to the light.

“let's go to the kitchen?” seungkwan denied. “ah, is it? I bet i get to the kitchen faster than you jumping like a bunny.” he said already getting up, knowing how competitive his son was.

soonyoung arrived in the kitchen panting, but seungkwan arrived making fun of his father while celebrating the victory.

[♡𖥻]

soonyoung was surprised that the house was so quiet when it arrived. normally, the children would be running around while playing, but now there wasn't even a toy on the floor that gave a sign that they were at home.

arched his eyebrow and went to his own room, finding jihoon sitting on the bed while moving the notebook.

“where are the children?” he left a seal on her husband's lips, leaving the backpack she was holding on top of the desk chair.

“seungcheol and jeonghan came earlier and picked them up. minghao missed them, apparently. they are going to sleep there.”

seungcheol and jeonghan had been friends with the couple for a few years. they both had a restaurant together and a seven-year-old son named minghao who had been a best friend of children since he was adopted three years ago.

jihoon left the notebook aside and stood up, putting his hands on soonyoung's hip.

“today the day is just for us, hm?” he said against soonyoung's neck, leaving a seal there soon after.

that day, they loved each other as if they were two teenagers again.

end.

Chapter Text

“dad, are we almost arriving?” seungkwan asked for at least the seventh time in the last five minutes, putting both hands on the front seat and leaning.

“we are, baby. now sit straight, please.” soonyoung looked at him in the rearview mirror, watching the child smile happily and lean his back on the seat again.

the four were on a one-hour trip to the pool house of their friends jeonghan and seungcheol, where they were going to spend christmas with other friends. they took the road early in the morning, and expected the children to sleep in the car during the trip because they went to sleep late last night because they watched a movie together. instead, the children seemed more awake then the fathers.

“dad, what time is it?”

“is’s half past eight, channie.l jihoon replied to his youngest son, who nodded before biting the cookie with a little animal drawing.

“ity taking too long, dad.”

“there are only five more minutes left, son.”

“you've said that three times!” seungkwan complained, listening to both parents laugh.

“this time it's true, okay?”

even if a little sulky, seungkwan nodded, humming again the cheerful music that played on his father's cell phone.

about seven minutes later, they could already see the big white gate of his friends' beautiful house. jihoon paused the music so that he could call jeonghan, after a few seconds, they saw the automatic gate open, giving them space for them to park the car next to their friends' car, chan and seungkwan jumping out of the car at the moment they saw

“uncle han!”

“uncle cheol!”

chan jumped on uncle jeonghan's lap, while his brother repeated the act with uncle seungcheol, both having their faces kissed.

“how i missed you!” seungcheol exclaimed as he left a long kiss on seungkwan's cheek.

“i missed you too, uncle!”

“uncle, where's hao?” chan asked, stirring until uncle put him on the floor again.

“he's still sleeping, chan.” the uncle knelt until he was at the height of the child.

“can we wake him up, uncle? please!” both brothers joined their little hands, making a beak until seungcheol smiled and waved.

both children ran into the house they already knew. jeonghan and seungcheol walked to jihoon and soonyoung.

“my son is going to kick your children.”

“good morning to you too, seungcheol.” soonyoung opened the trunk so he could take the backpacks out of the four of them.

“fuck, are you going to spend two days or two months here?” jeonghan commented when he saw the backpacks.

“i bet you brought more to minghao than we brought to kwan and chan. this child is more fashion than me.”

lwhich is not very difficult with this old style of yours, right, jihoon?” seungcheol laughed, deviating when his friend tried to hit him with his backpack. “have you ever had breakfast? we were going to take it now.

“not yet, the children were so excited for us to come that we just took a cookie and came.”

the four entered the house, dropping their backpacks in the living room while going to the kitchen to eat something. the adults were sitting, drinking coffee and eating cake when the children returned, this time being accompanied by another sleepy figure who crawled until he was on dad cheol’s lap.

“good morning, prince!” minghao murmured a 'good morning' to his father han. “say good morning to the uncles, son.”

“good morning, uncle soon and uncle hoon.”

“good morning, hao!” seungkwan and chan climbed on their parents' lap, seungkwan starting to eat the cake that was previously father's soony's. chan looked curiously at jihoon's coffee, making a face at his father to put a little bit of the bitter liquid in his mouth. “do you know who is coming?”

“who, dad?” chan gave up having coffee, starting to eat the cake with his brother.

“uncle shua and uncle seok.” both children looked at their father in expectation, even minghao seemed a little more awake to ask:

“is sollie coming too?”

“yes, he is, son.” seungcheol ran his hand through his son's hair.

“and when are they coming?” the youngest child asked.

“at this time seokmin bum must still be sleeping.”

chan looked at uncle han.

“don't call uncle seok like that!”

“you created a baby-shaped conservative.”

[💘]

“seungkwan, for god’s sake, doesn't run on the edge of the pool!” jihoon said, feeling his body freeze when he saw his son almost slip.

“hao, you need to stand still for dad to put on sunscreen.”

“hansol is floating in the pool looking like a corpse.”

“seungcheol, I'm going to kill your husband the next time he talks about my son like that.” seokmin warned, taking off his shirt to enter the pool and join her husband, son and jeonghan.

seungcheol just put sunscreen on his son, sitting on the sun lounger next to the child to wait for the cream to dry. soonyoung returned from inside the house with the youngest son after entering to help the child change clothes to be able to enter the pool, the child now wearing a swimsuit with drawn dinosaurs.

“can i come in, dad?” seungkwan asked, sitting on the edge of the pool.

“wait for dad to come in, my dear.” jihoon replied, entering the pool and holding his son for him to enter too, the pool too deep for the children to enter alone.

unlike his brother, chan didn't even warn, he just let go of his older father's hand and ran, jumping into the pool. jihoon felt his soul leave his body for a few seconds before his son emerged smiling with seokmin holding him in his arms.

jihoon put his hand on his chest, jeonghan and joshua laughing at his expression.

“until the end of christmas i’m going to have a heart attack.”

“you are very worried, jihoon. this is lack of the word with "s".” seokmin let chan hold the buoy with his brother so that they could stay in the pool without some adult holding them.

“i’m surprised by your ability to talk crap in front of the children even though you've been parents for so many years.” soonyoung entered the pool.

“what is the word with "s", dad?” the american child asked. seokmin laughed and joshua looked at him as if he could kill him.

“it's "sneaker", my dear”.

hansol murmured in understanding, swimming to the other two children in the pool so they could play together.

“seungcheol, stop being idiot and let the child enter the pool.” soonyoung said to the oldest of all, entering the pool too.

“i’m sorry if i don't want my son to look like a burnt shrimp later.” minghao shook his arms, as if that was going to make the sunscreen dry faster. seungcheol laughed. “go there with his father han, my love.”

the chinese child left a kiss on daddy cheol's cheek before running to the pool too, entering with the help of uncle jihoon. seungcheol entered the house again, a few minutes later, came back holding a cooler.

“beer for everyone, and orange juice for babies.”

seungcheol left the cooler on the edge of the pool, taking out six cans of beer and leaving them on the edge next to four bottles of orange juice. soon after, he got into the water, opening a can before giving it to her husband.

“dad, i want to have a cockfight!” seungkwan left the buoy to cling to his older father.

“i want it too, i want a justification to kick jihoon.” seokmin put his son on his shoulders, the child's hands now on his father's red hair.

“you love me very much, right, seokmin.” jihoon rolled his eyes, bending down so that chan would climb on his shoulders. soonyoung held his eldest son and helped him climb on his shoulders too.

“the duo who lose have to go to the market to buy the turkey that no one remembered to bring.” jeonghan repeated the act of his friends. joshua and seungcheol moved away to watch the fight.

“how did you forget to buy turkey for christmas?” the youngest father asked.

“fuck you, jeonghan, this house is in the ass of korea, i don't know where there is a market around here.” chan hit his father on the shoulder before soonyoung held his arm.

“hitting is ugly, son.”

“saying the ugly word is also ugly!” seokmin laughed out loud.

“your son is more educated than you.”

in the end, who lost was the duo seokmin and hansol, the two needing to leave the pool ten minutes later to go after some open market on christmas eve - the child even happy about it, no longer liking the feeling of the hot sun on his head.

when seokmin and hansol returned from the market, about forty minutes later, seungcheol and jihoon were on the barbecue to make lunch, minghao was sitting on one of the sun loungers eating a bread with meat and chicken, jeonghan and joshua were still in the pool, a little plate with meat, sausage and garlic bread in front of them

seokmin entered the house to leave the turkey in the refrigerator, returning to the yard again. he made a little plate for his son, who sat on the lounger next to the chinese child, both starting to talk. lee entered the pool, leaving a kiss on his husband's naked shoulder before starting to eat from the plate on the edge of the pool, receiving a slap from

[💘]

“dad, i don't want to help anymore.” hansol looked at daddy shua. they were both filling the turkey, but now the strong smell of the spices and the texture on their hands bothered the child.

“all right, baby. go with dad seok to wash your hands.”

hansol nodded, coming down from the chair and going to his younger father, who helped him wash his hands with the pink detergent in the sink.

now, they were all making the supper they would eat in a few hours. seungkwan and chan set up the candy, chan lined up the cookies while his brother threw the cream. jihoon cut garlic and onion to make the rice, soonyoung was on the stove making potatos, seungcheol made a cod and minghao made a mayonnaise with his father

“what exactly is seokmin doing?” seungcheol asked.

“for the sake of our health, nothing.”

“do you want to tell me something, jeonghan?” took a dishcloth, giving it to hansol to dry his hands.

“i am. thr last time you cooked my son literally spit out the food. and in front of you!”

“you see, minghao, what did you cause?” minghao threw the potatoes into the pot with mayonnaise, looking at his uncle with a beak on his lips.

“i’m sorry, uncle

“it’s not your fault, my baby. it’s your uncle's lack of culinary skills.” seungcheol put a kiss on the child's head.

“dad cooks well.” hansol commented, sitting on the table chair.

“true, he knows how to make sweets well.” joshua defended her husband.

“and yet we are trusting that two children will make the pavé better than him.”

“jeonghan, today you took the day off to be unbearable, right?”

“but our candy will be sooo delicious!” seungkwan poured a little more of the cream. when it fell a little on the table, chan passed his little finger and took it to his own mouth, smiling with the good taste.

“i’m sure so, my love.” jihoon messed up his children's hair.

“life, you will leave their hair smelling like garlic forever.” soonyoung turned off the stove, going to the closet to look for some pot to leave the potatos.

when the two children finished making the candy, soonyoung took the bowl to store in the refrigerator, throwing in the sink the pan that previously had the sweet cream of the pavé - in a pile that, later, would make a stone, paper and scissors to decide who would wash.

minghao just made the mayonnaise and put the utensils in the sink too, now standing still until some adult told him what he should do.

“seokmin, go do something useful and help the children take a shower and get ready.”

“i’m going, but know that I've been very helpful.” seokmin replied to seungcheol, holding his son on his lap and guiding all the children to the bathroom of the house.

when they finally finished making all the food, now waiting for the turkey and cod to be ready, all the adults were tired, the four of them thrown on the floor and on the sofa in the living room, just resting in silence while waiting for the children to come back from the bath.

thr first to return was seungkwan, who threw himself on top of soonyoung - who was lying on the floor. the child was now wearing red shorts and a white blouse with sparkles.

“dad! how am i?”

“you look beautiful, my love! we just need to fix your hair, right?”sat on the floor, the child now on your lap.

“uncle seok told me to ask you to fix it.”

“okay. let’s go, baby.”

soonyoung left the living room with his son, walking to the room to fix the child's hair and put on Santa's cap.

“the way kwan is, it won't even take ten minutes and his hair will be all messed up again.” seungcheol commented.

“jihoon managed to raise the two most stingy children here, that's surprising.”

“don't come to talk about a stingy child, shua. did you forget the time we got distracted for two minutes and when we looked again, hansol was turning on all the mouths of the stove?”

“sol is curious, it's different. chan and kwan you leave in the room and if you come back five minutes later, the two will be running on the roof.” replied to jihoon.

“at least they spend energy and sleep quietly at night.”

“thanks to the good bigbang, hao is very chill.”

“he's chill, he only hits a colleague with a notebook from time to time, right?” the others laughed at jihoon's answer to jeonghan.

“his only mistake was to hit just once.” seungcheol was slapped by her husband.

“what a beautiful example you give to our son, you son of a bitch.”

not even two minutes later, seokmin returned to the room again, this time together with the other three children, all wearing two christmas clothes and with wet and messy hair.

“not even to fix their hair, you useless.” jihoon held his son's face, leaving a kiss on the tip of his nose.

“then you're already asking me to do a lot.” threw yourself on the couch, hansol now on the floor with the other father. “and you smell like garlic, seasoning and egg. go take a shower, you stinkers.”

“you also smell like spice and no one is saying anything.” jeonghan got up, pulling his husband to get up too. “kids, go there with uncle soony so he can fix your hair.”

“no, don't come.” he screamed from the room.

“yes, go, and still move a lot for uncle soony to get very angry.” joshua whispered to the children as if it were a secret before the three children smiled mischievously and went to the room running.

when everyone was ready, it was already eight at night. now both the adults and the children are already wearing their beautiful christmas clothes. soonyoung even fixed the hair of the four children, but it did not last more than fifteen minutes when the four decided to play hide and seek while the adults took a shower.

now, seungcheol and joshua set the table so they could have dinner, while the others were in the room watching the amazing world of gumball.

“what did you ask santa claus?” jeonghan asked, the son on his lap while watching the cartoon.

“we had asked the dads not to divorce each other.” chan seemed shy when saying this, the word spoken slowly, still very difficult for the child to pronounce.

both parents cooed, hugging their two children tightly.

“do you see what you caused with this divorce thing?”

“don't blame me! i didn't do anything!” soonyoung got rid of the guilt for seokmin, still hugging his son.

“but it's okay! dads will never be separated again, right?”

“never again, my love!” jihoon left a kiss on his eldest son's forehead.

“i didn't ask for anything, dad.”

hansol turned to his father, looking worried - and oblivious to the previous subject, aiming that he had no idea of the meaning of the word "divorce".

“we forgot to write your letter from santa claus this year, right, baby? but don't worry, santa claus will bring his gift anyway!” the child mumbled a 'okay, so' before going back to watching the cartoon.

“you are such an irresponsible father. how could you forget santa’s letter?” jihoon provoked.

“dad, i asked for that coloring book.” minghao hugged his father's neck.

“i’m sure santa claus remembered, life.”

“come eat!”

seungcheol screamed from the kitchen, making the four children quickly run to the kitchen while the four adults went a few seconds later.

“dad, can we open the presents after eating?” hansol asked his father shua, who was now making his dish.

“we can, sollie.”

normally, they would wait until midnight to be able to open the gifts as was the tradition. instead, the parents talked before and agreed to eat and open the gifts earlier, hoping that by midnight the children were already sleeping like little angels.

“really?” seungkwan looked at his younger father, who nodded. “dad! put the food on quickly, then!”

“it will be when everyone is over, so eat without haste, okay?”

even with seungcheol's message, the four children ate as fast as they could, anxiously waiting for their parents to finish eating so they could open the long-awaited gifts. When the adults finished, they didn't even have time to eat the candy that seungkwan and chan made before being pulled into the room.

“okay, the first one is for… sol.”.

jihoon took from under the christmas tree a blue packaging with a characteristic shape that denounced what the gift was. even so, the child did not seem to realize what it was, holding the heavy packaging before quickly tearing the paper. when he tore the entire packaging and could see the black skateboard with cool drawings, a big smile stamped his face as he looked at his parents

“dad will teach you how to walk when we get back home, okay?”

seokmin said, running his hand through the child's hair. a few years ago, when the olympicstook place, hansol saw the skateboards and was fascinated, reaching an agreement with his parents that he would win one when he was a little older, the moment having finally arrived for the child.

“okay, dad! thank you!” left the skateboard on the floor, pulling both parents for a hug.

“the next one is kwannie.” he held, this time, a purple package before delivering it to his son.

the child sat on the floor with the packaging not so heavy, tearing it, revealing another box. at first, he did not understand what it was, but looked at his parents surprised to see the two pink microphones, next to the colorful karaoke kit that seungkwan saw at the mall while walking with his parents and fell in love.

“i can't believe it! how did santa claus know, dad?” both parents looked at each other.

“he has his magic, son. did you like it?”

“i loved it, dad!”

seungkwan left a kiss on the cheek of both parents before getting distracted looking at the karaoke.

“here's yours, channie.”

jihoon extended him a white package with drawings of the child's favorite animal - dinosaur. the package was not heavy, and when he opened it, he saw a doll he had asked for his father a while ago.

“the bike you ordered was very big, then santa claus left it at home for you to open it when we get back, okay?” chan nodded happily to soonyoung before hugging both parents tightly.

“and now the last one.”

jihoon extended a yellow package to the child who was patiently waiting for his, sitting between seungcheol's legs. minghao murmured a "thank you" and opened the package carefully, his little eyes shining when he saw the three coloring books next to a kit with more pencils than he could count.

“woah! thank you, dad and father!”

hansol, seungkwan and chan were a little confused about why he was thanking his parents instead of santa claus while minghao left a long seal on each one's cheek, but none said anything.

in the next few minutes, each one occupied himself with his own present. hansol was in the space behind the sofa on top of the skateboard, his father holding him and pulling him forward slowly. seungkwan made his father turn on the karaoke on television and put the music telephone, the child now singing with his brother, being seungkwan the lady gaga and chan a be

the english was confused and neither joshua nor hansol could understand what the children were talking about, but the two were extremely happy and that was the important thing. minghao was sitting on the couch, painting and, from time to time, laughing at the two of them singing at karaoke. his dad seungcheol was even painting along with him, but the child expelled his father when

soonyoung and jihoon were the last to return to the room, with seungkwan and chan being the last children to sleep.

minghao fell asleep on the couch, hansol began to complain of fatigue a few minutes later, and seungkwan and chan still sang some more songs - even pulling the adults to some of them - before going to bed to sleep, when it was around ten at night.

“i’m going to steal your son's karaoke.” jeonghan commented when both parents returned, the eldest watching the toy's songs.

“go steal no shit, drop it.” jihoon took the two microphones out of the hand of the owner of the house.

“the hao painting these draws there, or becomes an stoner good vibes or becomes an artist.” seokmin commented, flipping through the sketchbook.

“minghao painting this and hansol skater at fifty kilometers per hour to see which of the two is more likely to smoke marijuana.”

“shut your mouth.” joshua threw a pillow at soonyoung.

“now that the children are sleeping, we can drink.0

seungcheol went to the kitchen with her husband, returning a few minutes later with a bottle of champagne and a few glasses.

“whoever has a hangover tomorrow gets fucked taking care of their son.” seokmin held the glass.

“getting hungover for champagne is slutty.” jeonghan delivered a glass to each one, her husband bursting the champagne and starting to serve it to everyone.

“soonyoung has already cried drunk for much less.”

“man, go fuck yourself, you idiot american.”.

in the next few minutes, the adults were busy exchanging the gifts they bought for each other while drinking, taking advantage of the time they had together after so long.

and of course, before falling asleep, soonyoung still had his moment saying how much he loved his friends while falling into tears.

merry christmas :)
