Work Text:
The evening is chilly as Jungkook makes his way up the walkway. The stack of tupperware containers wobbles precariously as he slowly makes it up the steps in one piece. He wasn’t planning to bring this much, but well, it’s hard not to just keep making more when it comes to Yoongi and Channie. Especially when he knows what kind of sweet tooth they both have.
He gets as far as the front door before it’s swinging open, an excited 7 year old shrieking.
“Jungkookie!”
Jungkook grins, balancing the containers to the side so Chan doesn’t accidentally knock them over in his overzealous excitement. “Hey Channie! What’s shaking buddy?”
Chan giggles, cherub cheeks ruddy from the cool air and laughter. “Mr. Salt!”
Snorting, Jungkook ushers Chan inside and out of the cold. “That’s right! But you’re missing someone!”
Chan pouts, eyebrows scrunched together in a very cute, very carbon copy of Yoongi’s frowny face. Jungkook’s so in love with these two it’s probably unhealthy.
Chan lights up finally, mouth open showing off his missing front teeth grin. “Mrs. Pepper!”
“That’s right!” He coos, smile widening when they finally get into the kitchen where Yoongi is leaning against the counter, a fond smile on his face as he watches them. “Here, let me set this stuff down before I accidentally drop it, okay? Then you can show me those really cool art projects you did at school this week!”
“Okay!” And then Chan is taking off back into the living room, presumably to find his art projects, but Jungkook takes the time to finally set down the mountain of desserts he brought over.
Yoongi intercepts him before he can get fully to the counter, helping out by grabbing a few from the top and finding a clear space for all the stuff. “You didn’t have to bring so much.”
With a grin and a shrug, Jungkook is finally able to reach out and greet his boyfriend how he’s wanted to since he got here. The kiss is light, a chaste smacking of lips, but it still sends tingles down his spine and Jungkook can’t help but smile wider, cheeks heating up ever so slightly. “What can I say? I’m a sucker for seeing my two favourite people enjoying what I made for them.”
Shaking his head, Yoongi curls his fingers into the lapels of his jacket he still hasn’t taken off, looking up at him through his lashes. “And what, dear boyfriend, did you make for us today?”
Butterflies. A stampede of elephants. A literal whole ass zoo. Jungkook’s heart beats like a hummingbird, quick and fluttering and so loud he’s sure the entire neighbourhood can hear it. His chest feels tight with emotion, and the stray (let’s be honest, it’s been recurring since that day) thought comes slamming back into his entire being.
I’m going to marry you one day.
“Jungkook?”
He’s pulled away from his thoughts to a slightly worried Yoongi, brows furrowed and frown tugging his lips downward. “Y-yes?”
Yoongi quirks a brow. “Are you okay?”
His mouth is suddenly dry, tongue heavy and there’s probably a lump the size of Texas in his throat, but he nods nonetheless. Plasters on a smile he hopes doesn’t give away just how affected the sudden and visceral reaction he had to thoughts of marrying the guy he’s been dating for just over a year. The gleaming gold band that’s wrapped around Yoongi’s ring finger does little to alleviate the sudden anxiety.
“Yeah. Yeah I’m good.” He wipes his sweaty palms onto his jeans and grabs the first container that’s within reach. “So I made, like, a lot.”
Yoongi snorts. He still takes another minute to watch Jungkook before seeming to give him the space to talk if he wants, turning to the pile on the counter. “I’ll say. What’s this one?”
So Jungkook easily and simply goes through the list of things he spent the latter half of two days making. “That one is peach cobbler. It’s sweet, but very good with coffee.” He winks at Yoongi with that, who just shoots him a shiteating grin. “The one underneath that is a batch of cinnamon white chocolate cookies. Then there’s a batch of chocolate cupcakes, and another batch of banana nut muffins. And last but definitely not least,” he quickly grabs the two biggest containers and thrusts it into Yoongi’s hands. “I asked my mom to send me the recipe, but I’ve never made them before, so if they’re bad please go easy on me.”
Yoongi opens the lid, eyes snapping back up to his, wide and slightly shimmering with moisture. “You made hotteok?”
He rubs the back of his neck, cheeks flushing under Yoongi’s intense stare. “And gyeongdan. I tried to make mochi, but like, that stuffs not easy. It tastes so good, but holy cr-er, crow is it difficult.” Yoongi is still staring, a little slack jaw and definitely misty eyed now. Jungkook probably really messed up. Shit. “I’m sorry. I know I should’ve asked first, but—”
He’s cut off literally by Yoongi’s own mouth. The kiss is almost bruising, and the hectic energy wafting off Yoongi is enough to make Jungkook pause for just a second before he reacts and kisses back. It’s a bit messy, saliva getting on his chin a bit, but Yoongi’s desperation is palpable and Jungkook can really only hold on for the ride.
They break apart with a loud, wet smack, and Jungkook knows he looks kiss drunk with bright red, slightly swollen lips and probably messy hair. Yoongi looks a little worse for wear, a flush spreading from the tips of his ears down to the collar of his shirt.
(Jungkook knows how far down that pink flush goes. He’s trailed it with his lips, teeth and fingers multiple different times.)
“Uhm.”
Yoongi blinks rapidly, eyes wet. “Jungkook. Baby. I don’t even… What can I say that will make you understand just how perfect you are?”
Jungkook stammers, caught off guard. “I didn’t—What did I do? I thought I messed up by bringing over the korean dishes.”
“ No. Never. Oh my god.” Yoongi wipes at his eyes furiously, sniffing. “It’s perfect. You are perfect. I’ve never been—I wanted to try…Ugh. I just. I never knew how to try and introduce these types of things to Channie. And now, with you doing this? I don’t know how to thank you.”
With a sigh and a smile, Jungkook wraps Yoongi up in his arms. “You never have to thank me, silly. I’d do anything for you and Channie. You two are my whole world, bar maybe Nayeon if she’s not running a sugar high.” Yoongi lights up with laughter, eyes still sparkling from the tears. “You and Channie. You’re my family. I’d do whatever I can to make sure both of you are okay and happy. And if that means handing you some probably terrible desserts from our home country, well then so be it.”
Yoongi’s smiling so wide his pink gums are on display. “I love you. You know that right? You know that I love you?”
He nods because he does. “I do. And soon,” Jungkook easily scoops up Yoongi’s left hand, kisses the ring that’s resting there like it belongs. “ Soon. You’ll be mine forever.”
They kiss again. This time a lot less rough but still just as full of desperation. It’s equal parts grounding as it is otherworldly, and Jungkook feels he might up and float away any second, but the quick stomping of tiny feet alerts them of Chan’s return. They break apart from the kiss as Chan rounds the corner into the kitchen, but stay wrapped in each others arms.
“Jungkookie! Look! Look what I made!” Chan’s eyes are wide, big brown doe eyes that make his heart melt. Chan hands over a large painted picture.
“What’s this? It’s so cool!” Detangling his limbs from Yoongi’s, Jungkook kneels so he can set the picture down and get a better look. “It’s so good! Good job Channie! Gimme a high five!”
Chan giggles as he high fives him, cheeks pink. He leans against Jungkook’s shoulder, looking down at the painting too. “The teachers said to draw our family. So I did! Look! Look! There’s me!” He points a small finger at the smallest stick figure, the one standing in between two larger ones. Chan points at the one on the left, which has comically large circles on the head that Jungkook guesses are supposed to be Yoongi’s glasses. “That’s appa! See! I even added his glasses!”
Yoongi snorts from behind them, and when Jungkook grins over his shoulder, he blows a kiss back.
“And who’s that?” Jungkook points at the third figure, one brow raised. The stick figure has a different colour right arm.
Chan looks at him funny, like Jungkook is the one who’s in grade 1 and not himself. “That’s you, silly! Look! I even maked sure to put your arm drawings on you!”
Oh.
Oh shit.
Tears well up almost instantly as he takes in the painting once more with full knowledge of who is who. Yoongi’s house is in the background, painted almost the correct colours. Stick figure Chan is standing between stick figure Yoongi and stick figure Jungkook, one hand holding one of each of theirs. Yoongi’s hair is a messy blob on his head, huge circles to replicate his glasses and some simple, blocky clothes on. Jungkook swallows past the lump in his throat as he takes in his own little stick figure with newfound interest. Stick figure Jungkook has one darker arm, to imitate his sleeve of tattoos, while wearing what looks like a very simplistic leather jacket and dark hair.
What finally tips him over the edge though is the words painted at the very bottom (clearly done by someone with slightly better penmanship than a 7 year old boy).
Chan and his daddies!
Yoongi coos, carding fingers through his hair as Jungkook pulls Chan close and hugs him tight. “Tell him what you told me Chan.”
Jungkook sniffs, pulling back to look into Chan’s eyes. “What’s up buddy?”
Chan bites his lip, his own eyes are filled with big tears. “Jungkookie is my other dad. Love you daddy.”
Jungkook sobs. It’s a near hysterical thing but he can’t be bothered to try and look cool, calm and collected when his heart is overflowing with so much love. His boys. His entire world. God, he’s so lucky. Yoongi is holding them both, shushing them as Jungkook sobs and Chan sympathy cries alongside him, all three clinging to one another in a mess of limbs on the kitchen floor.
“Best Thanksgiving ever.” Jungkook says, muffled into Chan’s hair and nasally from all the crying.
(Later that evening, when the food is put out and eaten, and they’re onto dessert, does Jungkook get just a wee bit nervous again. “Hey Channie, this is hotteok. It’s a korean sweet pancake that my mom taught me how to make. Want to try some?”
Chan, wide eyed and so for anything that’s sweet, nods emphatically. “Yes!”
Needlessly to say, Chan absolutely loves them. Yoongi is almost brought to tears when he asks about other korean foods that Jungkook knows, and Jungkook’s heart feels three times the size.)
