Summary
“I wouldn’t have suggested we do this if I thought it would go badly, love.” Jaskier reassures—though this does little to calm Geralt, who is actually starting to feel nauseous as they round the corner and Hadria’s school enters his line of sight.
“You didn’t think asking her for permission to marry me would go badly, either.” Geralt says, not intending for the words to have quite as much bite as they do. He’s just trying to say that Jaskier doesn’t know Hadria quite as well as he thinks he does, is all.
“Yes, well…” Jaskier reaches for Geralt’s hand, running a calloused finger over the smooth gold of his wedding band. “Everything worked out in the end, didn’t it?” While that is true, that doesn’t mean that there hadn’t been quite a few bumps in the road to get there. “Geralt… I understand why you’re worried—but this is your daughter. No matter how upset she is, she’d want to see her father for Thanksgiving.”
Geralt wrinkles his nose, “Then, why couldn’t she come home?”
