Arthur opened his laptop as he looked through what felt like endless emails. He took a sip of his coffee, Then he heard the door unlock and a messy haired merlin entered the house. “You’re home later than usual” He says as he watches Merlin take off his jacket and place it on top of the couch.
“Rough shift” He grumbles and sits beside Arthur at the dinner table, He places his head on the blonde’s shoulder and sighs “I can tell” Arthur puts his hand on Merlin's and he smiles reassuringly.
“Augh.. I feel bad for Gwen. She insisted I go home and she’d do the overnight shift instead” Arthur knew Merlin too well. He'd work his ass off no matter how tired he was as long as it meant others would get proper sleep. “ Well, I’m glad she told you to rest, because you really do need to sleep. Your eyebags got darker I swear” Merlin glares at arthur “As if you're any better, You once came home 2 in the morning because you were busy with a meeting” Arthur chuckles, He remembers merlin scolding him for that. “Okay,” Arthur shuts off his laptop and he looks at merlin “Let’s both not think or talk about work tonight because we’re both going to get some much needed sleep” Arthur took merlin’s hand and he led him to their bedroom, Merlin changed into some more comfortable clothing and laid down beside arthur. “If you’re late for that meeting dont—” “Hush Merlin, Go to sleep. You’ll thank me in the morning you dollophead” And with that, Merlin fell asleep.
