Chapter Text

Children of the quest, heed this final path;

This story is ending but beware their final wrath.

Everything felt a bit disorienting when the world shifted back into place. Robin let out a soft grunt when he landed. The surface he landed on felt soft and gritty. It felt like sand. The young wizard really hoped they weren't in another desert; he couldn't take another desert.

Peeling his eyes open, Robin sat up and glanced around. It wasn't a desert at least. Ocean was spread out in front of him with a small collection of palm trees and sand behind him. Seemed like they'd landed on a somewhat small deserted island. There were worse places to land. Glancing around again, he saw the others starting to come to. Spotting Sam, the young wizard rushed over.

"Are you alright?" he asked, helping his friend up.

Sam gently shook himself free of sand and nodded. "I'm fine."

Gentle suspicion crept through Robin's veins. He wanted to believe his friend. While the young gargoyle had been healed of his more dangerous injuries, he was practically forbidden from moving his wings (unless the situation was really dire). He should be free of most pain but there still a possibility of a hidden injury Sam wasn't talking about. He really wished Sam would talk to him about these things but this was not the time nor the place.

Back to the present, Robin saw the others stand up and brush themselves clean of sand.

"Did we actually go anywhere? This looks like the same place as before," Aster commented, looking around at their surroundings.

"No this is somewhere different; there's too many differences" Alex replied.

"Then where are we?" Aster questioned.

Alex's face twitched in annoyance. "I don't know I'm not google maps."

"Alright alright, no bickering," Andy spoke up, putting himself between the two girls.

"We need to figure out where we are, what we have around us and what we can do," Robin stated, walking over with Sam in tow.

With a nod in Robin's direction, Alex transformed and flew into the sky. The young chimera went up far, almost so far that Robin was barely able to see her. Moments later, Alex landed back on the ground and transformed back.

"Anything notable?" Aster inquired.

The white haired girl shook her head. "We're basically in the middle of nowhere. There's nothing but ocean around us."

Aster let out a groan. "Are we going to have to fly over the ocean again? We don't have Zack or Flora this time."

The mention of the two Scarwinards made Sam flinch.

"We don't have the ability to fly long distances at this moment, we'll need to figure out another way," Robin cut in.

Andy nodded in agreement. "Let's start making a shelter then we can discuss where we go from there."

With a nod of agreement from all around, the group set to work.
