Today, Lily is taking Liam to the doctor’s office for his physical checkup. Liam brought along his teddy bear to keep by his side. They are waiting in the waiting room to get called in. Liam holds his teddy bear tight.
“Sissy, I don’t want to go.”
“It’s okay, Liam. I’ll be right there with you the whole time. I promise. Plus, you like Dr. Andrews, don’t you?”
“I guess so.”
Suddenly, a man stood in the waiting room. “Liam More?”
Liam and Lily stand up. “Right this way”, the doctor leads them to his office.
Liam has a seat on the table, crinkling the paper under him. “Hello, Liam. Good to see you.”
“Hello”, Liam says quietly.
“Can you tell me why you’ve come to see me, Liam?”
Liam shakes his head no, clutching his bear. The doctor turns to Lily. “Just a physical today.”
“Perfect.” The doctor pulls up Liam’s medical information from his last visit on the computer. “Last year, you were 4’10. Let’s see how tall you are now.”
Liam stands against the wall, and the doctor measures him. “You are 5 feet tall, Liam. You grew 2 inches.” Liam smiles.
“Now, hop up onto the scale so I can take your weight.” Liam steps on the scale and waits for the reading. “100 pounds. That’s perfect for a boy your height.”
Liam sits down on the table again. Dr. Andrews performs a physical exam on Liam. He looks into his eyes, ears, and mouth. He has Liam lie down to feel his tummy, making Liam laugh. Dr. Andrews hands Liam a plastic cup with a label on it. “I’m going to need a urine sample from you, Liam. Do you remember how it works?” Liam shakes his head. “You need to urinate into this cup. Do not touch the inside of the cup or the inside of the lid. When you finish urinating, close the lid on the cup and give it back to me.”
Liam looked down at his shoes. “I don’t need to go”, he mumbled.
Dr. Andrews looked confused and turned to Lily. “You don’t need to go potty right now, Liam?”
“No.”
“That’s fine. We’ll get you some water.” The doctor steps out to get Liam some water.
Lily sits with him on the table. “You’re doing well, you know that?” She tickles his chin, making him giggle. The doctor comes back with a plastic cup of water. Liam takes it. “Thank you.” “No problem.” Liam drinks the water.
“When you need to go pee pee, let me know,” Lily says.
(5 minutes later)
“Sissy?”
“Yeah, bud?”
“Teddy needs to go potty.”
Lily looks confused. “Teddy needs to go potty?”
“Mhm.”
“Should we practice giving a urine sample with Teddy?”
Liam’s eyes widen and he nods vigorously. Lily takes the closed sample cup as she explains to Liam how the urine sample test will work.
“So first we need to clean Teddy’s private parts with a wipe. It might feel a little cold but it’s important to clean. Now, is Teddy going to sit to go pee pee or is he going to stand?”
“Teddy is going to stand like a big boy.” Liam holds Teddy so he’s standing up. He holds the cup in front of Teddy but close to his body.
“Is Teddy ready to go potty?”
“Yes.” “He’s going pee pee right now.”
“The cup is going to fill with pee. It’s important to get as much as you can into the cup. See this line right here?” Lily points to a fill line on the cup. “That’s the amount of pee you should get in the cup. It’s okay if you can’t make that much pee, though.”
Liam holds the cup in place for a few more seconds, assuming his bear is still peeing. Then he sets the cup down.
“Is he all done?”
“Yup. What happens now?”
“Now Teddy needs to pull up his pants and wash his hands. That’s it!”
“That was easy."
"It’s super easy. So are you ready to try now?”
“No, I still don’t need to go, Lily. Can I have some more water?”
“Yeah. I’ll get you some. Stay here.” Lily gets him another cup of water.
“Thank you, Lily.”
“You’re welcome bud.” Lily had a thought. Her shy brother tended to hold in his pee until he was about to burst before telling her he needed to go. “Honey, don’t wait until the last minute to tell me when you need to pee pee. I don’t want you to feel rushed. The second you feel like going pee-pee, let me know so I can take you to the bathroom.”
“Okay, Lily.”
(10 minutes later)
“Sissy, I need to go potty.”
“Okay bud.” “Is it an emergency?”
“Nope, I just got the potty feeling”, he says proudly.
Lily smiles. “Well done for telling me.” Lily gets the sample cup and cleansing wipes. Liam gets his teddy bear. “Let’s go.”
(In the bathroom)
“Alright, Liam. Do you know what to do?”
“I think so.”
“Do you want me to wait outside?”
“Stay Sissy”, he said, holding Lily’s hand tight.
“I’ll stay with you, Liam. Let’s go to the toilet.” Liam stood in front of the toilet with his penis out. He takes a cleansing wipe and wipes the tip of his penis. It was a little cold but not too bad. Lily unscrews the lid and hands Liam the cup.
“Just go pee pee whenever you’re ready.”
Liam holds the cup under his penis and waits to pee.
(3 minutes later)
“Sissy, I can’t do it!”, he says, frustrated.
“It’s okay, bud. Just take your time.”
“But I need to go now! It’s not coming. What if I can’t go potty?”
“Hey, listen to Sissy. You’re just feeling nervous and that’s normal,” Lily tells him calmly.
“My pee won’t come out”, he says, defeated.
“Hmmm. Let’s try something.” Lily gets some paper towels and goes to the sink. She turns on the cold water and soaks the paper towels with it.
“What are you doing, Lily?”
“I’m going to help you pee. Mom used to do this all the time to get you to pee when you were a baby.”
Lily squeezes the excess water out and shuts off the faucet. She walks over to Liam.
“Just relax okay?” Liam nods.
Lily wipes the paper towel over Liam’s bladder. He jumps and shivers from the cold but he does manage to go. He puts the cup in place and pees into it forcefully. “Phew. Thanks, Sissy.”
“Anytime.”
He pees for a while, fully relaxed.
Lily sees the cup fill quickly. “Liam, stop.”
Liam stops peeing. “Why?”
Lily takes the cup, not caring it was warm from pee. “You filled it up to the line, see? You did really well.” Lily seals the cup.
“I need to pee pee more, Lily”, he says, holding his crotch tight.
“You can pee pee in the toilet now, Liam. We have the sample.”
Liam immediately started his stream again, no coaxing required. A few more seconds, he’s all done. He pulls up his pants and flushes the toilet. He washes his hands and dries them with paper towels. They exit the bathroom and see the doctor.
“Great job, Liam”, he says taking the cup.
“We’ll send your urine to a lab and they’ll perform a special test to check it and make sure your body is working right. We’ll have the results for you in a few days. For now, you can have a lollipop.” He opens a jar full of Dum-Dums to choose from.
Liam takes a strawberry flavored one. “Can Lily have one too?”
“Of course.” Lily takes a bubblegum flavored lollipop.
“You know what, Liam?” Dr. Andrews says.
“What?”
“I think Teddy should get one too. He’s been a great patient, hasn’t he?”
Liam giggles and nods. He picks a green apple flavor lollipop for Teddy. “Thank you, Dr. Andrews.”
“My pleasure. You guys take care.”
