Some Help with Publicity

Summary:

In one of the darkest moments of her life, Ippan Josei had been targeted simply because of the way she looked, attacked as prejudice made her out to be a villain.

Only for the viridian hero to dive in to save the day, stepping in without a thought to protect her as the hero that Deku was. Her savior in those dark times turning out to be the hero who would save the world in the process.

But now years down the line, she finally has the opportunity to thank her hero for what he’s done for her. To be able to help him out in his hectic life in the process as a friend (and maybe more) in the whirlwind life of the Symbol of Hope.

Chapter Text

Popping the cap off the marker once again, the smell of ink floods his nostrils as the rest of the convention center is bustling with noise all around him. He had been finding the signatures to be quite a repetitive process now that he was behind the booth, but being able to meet his fans made up for it no matter what.

Izuku looks up at the newest person to have reached the front of his stall, seeing a nervous young boy shakily holding out a mint condition Deku Theta costume variant with [Blackwhip] still sealed in the box. With untamed curly black hair and covered from head to toe in various Deku merch, Izuku couldn’t help but compare the boy to himself back in the day, with All Might gear instead of course.

“And who can I sign this for?” Izuku asks with his normal heroic smile, causing the boy’s eyes to sparkle with awe.

“M-M-Mikumo, D-Deku sir!” the nervous fan responds, watching as Izuku signs his signature on the clear plastic while adding a little message for the boy.

Izuku knew from first-hand experience what it meant to have a hero sign their merch for them, the value it added to the precious collection. Only now he was on the other side of the table.

“Well nice to meet you Mikumo, I hope you have a wonderful time here!” Izuku waves the boy goodbye, who accepts the box back, treating it like it was made of pure gold.

Watching as the fan excitedly runs away from the booth, showing off his new item to who Izuku presumes to be his mother, Izuku can’t help but smile to himself at the reactions. This is what he wanted to be to people when he was a hero, someone who could make them smile.

If someone had gone back into the past before he ran into All Might all those years ago and told him that he would be the hero who would inspire people and make people’s live better, he would’ve thought that they would’ve been hit by a hallucination quirk.

Izuku had only dreamed of the day that he would be the one behind the booth, signing his own merch that people showed off proudly. But he had even been personally invited to this convention as a star guest! One of the many perks of being the number one hero.

And the variety of his merch that he was getting to see was astounding! From hats, hoodies, posters, plushies, shirts, keychains, and more! Someone even brought in a custom-made toaster! Obviously however, Izuku preferred the figurines the most out of all of the merch that he got to see, even beyond his own collection.

With a smile, Izuku whips out the marker and scribbles out his signature on yet another figurine, one based off of his pose after his victory over Shigaraki. And how long ago it seemed since that fateful battle occurred.

A staggering five years ago was when he was broadcasted all over the world as he battled for the safety of Japan, for his friends, for his family. And since then he had been tossed into the celebrity limelight, whether he was prepared for it or not.

Thankfully, Nedzu had managed to pull some kind of strings, and with the reconstruction of Japan, he had been able to have a somewhat normal high school life while at UA. Izuku had thought about going to America for even more experience like how All Might did, but things were way quieter in Japan as compared to when All Might left so there wasn’t much of a reason for Izuku to go.

So naturally, Kacchan had felt the need to follow in the footsteps of their shared idol, swearing to Izuku that he would return even stronger and ‘beat his ass into next week’. The last Izuku had heard, Dynamight was having a literal blast as a top hero in Texas.

The line shuffled forward, an older man that looked completely out of place at the convention pulled out a poster commemorating Izuku’s first hero billboard ranking with a kind smile, briefly mentioning the future surprise for his son’s birthday.

Writing a small message for the boy, Izuku thinks back to that very event and how nervous he was to be out on stage. It was no surprise that many people of his class had ended up being ranked at their first possible moment after graduating, but it still took some time for them to get truly settled into their careers.

But Izuku had ended up with the quickest ranking into the top 10 since Hawks debuted, with Hawks still holding the record for youngest to breach the elusive group with the sheer efficiency of his crime fighting.

Although Hawks never reached the number one spot, the hero never getting the chance to do so after losing his quirk in the fight against All for One. But he still seemed very happy in his life from last Izuku had seen, able to live his life in the moment and without the pressure of expectations and the HSPC.

In Izuku’s case, having completely mastered [One for All] by the end of his three years at UA, it meant that Deku was a force of nature unlike no other within the heroics community. Able to stop crimes quicker and more frequently as All Might did, it still didn’t make up for the sheer gusto that All Might had at his own debut.

A loud thud interrupts Izuku’s thoughts as a large stone is deposited in front of him, the stereotype of a mega fan grinning back at Deku as they proudly display what they want to be signed.

With a chuckle, Izuku exchanges a fun conversation with the fan, talking about his own exploits and those of the other heroes that Izuku admired all the same.

To be honest, said rock was not something that Izuku had expected to see at the convention. He recognized it from his toughest mission since the war with Shigaraki, when he had been cleaning up the rest of All for One’s empire at the end of his time at UA with the guidance of Nedzu.

Stumbling upon a far-away island off the coast of Japan, All for One had hidden away another horrific creation, a weaponized Noumu comparable to Gigantomachia in its raw power, a failsafe if something went wrong. It had been waking up every now and then to cause tremors in the nearby area, damaging nearby coastal structures and getting closer and closer to the mainland.

Izuku had ended up completely obliterating the island that the Noumu inhabited during the fight, making Izuku extremely thankful for how the island was so isolated from any other form of life with the rubble of the island having been scattered all over the coast in the process. It turned out that All for One’s paranoia had led to him wanting to keep the project as hidden as possible, the final hurrah from the remnants of his deeds.

So after that, there was truly no more problems that the hero Deku could no longer handle, physical ones at least. Which meant that Izuku could focus his energies on social benefits: charities to help fight quirk and quirkless discrimination, donations against poverty, movements to help children in abusive situations.

And with all of that publicity led to even more merch, but Izuku never saw the need to collect his own. He does try his best to keep up a collection of his classmates however, having a whole room at his apartment dedicated solely to all the hero merch he owed.

His favorite Deku figurine though had to be one in his fight against Overhaul, in commemoration of his first licensed act as a hero to save Eri from her nightmare. The silver-haired girl agreed whole heartedly, with sparkling eyes when she got to see it in person.

Some commotion starts to pick up at the start of a booth next to Izuku’s own, a disagreement of some fans devolving into a near brawl.

“Hey can we-” Izuku starts to turn back to one of the security guards, only for a fangirl to grab his extended arm.

“OMG Deku! I’m such a big fan!” the girl gives him a bright smile, wearing a cosplay of Rocketti with a pair of fake horns to compliment her long blonde hair as she holds out a notebook for Izuku to sign.

“Thanks for your support,” Izuku says with a grateful smile as he gives his signature, starting to advert his eyes back towards growing conflict.

“Well Deku, I just have one question for you,” the fangirl leans in closer with a snap of her fingers and a wink, “Are you in a relationship~?”

“S-Sorry but I’d like to keep my private life private,” Izuku returns with a strained smile, fighting down a bit of a blush.

The first relationship that comes to mind to Izuku was about how All Might and his mother had ended up getting together, the pair having grown closer with All Might’s retirement and Izuku’s own growth as a hero, and now even on a honeymoon across the USA.

But for as happy as Izuku was for the two of them, it helped to serve as a reminder of how lonely Izuku had been feeling recently.

With all of his friends now working full time as heroes, they’ve all slowly grown apart. Kacchan in Texas, Tsuyu all the way down in Okinawa, Ochako working hard to finally go on a long vacation with her parents to Hawaii, and the rest of 1-A having spread out across all of Japan. Only Tenya and Shouto remained around where Izuku worked now from his close friends, leaving Izuku to figure out how to deal with his new social life once more.

“I’ve been wanting to focus on my job as a hero. Of course, there’s always time in the future for that but right now isn’t the time for it,” Izuku throws out an excuse to the fangirl who was just pouting slightly in return.

And with the nearby brawl having grown, Izuku notices the sheer length of his own line as he gets up from his seat to poke his head behind his booth. Spotting a security guard in the back to pass mention about the rowdy crowd, Izuku pulls out his phone to send a quick message to his convention contact about his line.

It was a bit of a hassle for Izuku to deal with both his own crowd and the security of the convention, but he didn’t want to let down any of his fans.

Sitting back down at the front of the booth, Izuku finishes writing out the message to his contact spotting the poster slide across the table for him to sign.

It was a rare one, one that was made to show off his rougher costume from before Shigaraki’s defeat, when he was fighting in the fallen Japan to take down the escaped convicts. He knew that it was a fan favorite from his more dedicated fan base, as the only shot of the costume was taken from his return to UA.

“And who can I sign this for?” Izuku asks, pulling out his marker as he begins to sign the poster before him.

“F-For Josei, my crybaby hero…” the woman’s voice replies, causing Izuku to pause as he recognizes the nickname.

Looking up from the partially signed poster, Izuku takes in the large cyan-furred figure before him. Wearing a green Deku-themed yukata with several different Deku pins attached and a Deku-headband pulling back her blond hair, Izuku smiles widely at the sight of the familiar (and blushing) fox lady.

“Ippan-san!”

==========

Reaching into her baggy, Josei searches inside for her key to the event, her claw-like fingers eventually finding the small slip of paper that she had printed out earlier that day. Scanning the ticket against the specially made gate for larger heteromorphs, the cyan-furred woman takes a deep breath before walking inside the busy convention center.

She had been looking forward to this event for a while now, especially once she had learned about the schedule of heroes that would be attending for the day. Primarily of which was Deku, her crybaby hero, who she made sure to dress appropriately for, getting all of her supplies ready for her exciting day.

After he had saved her, she had formed something of a hero crush on him even before he became the huge symbol that he was today. So she wanted to show her thanks and admiration towards him in the only ways that she could.

Wearing all of the different clothes, pins, wristbands and more from the other events she attended, she felt prepared for the day to come. Of course, all of the clothes was dedicated to Deku but at least she wouldn’t be very much out of place in the crowd. At least based on her clothes that is.

Walking through the various halls of the convention center, Josei was thankful for the extra height that her quirk provided for her, making it very easy to spot where everything was over the crowds. Seeing the sign for the stall for Tentacole, Josei starts to weave through the busy walkways for her first target, wanting to check in with the hero she had once spoken to.

Approaching the stall, Josei starts to sort through her bag, finding the signature book she had set aside for all of the heroes she had met. After what had happened half a decade ago, Josei had made it a goal to try and get a signature from each of the heroes of the so-called hell class, so far having gotten the signatures of Froppy and Tailman in her few meetings.

Looking around, Josei finds that Tentacole’s booth was sparsely decorated, with only a few fans in wait as the hero talks calmly to them one by one. She still appreciates what she did for everyone back then, especially knowing what it is like to be a more extreme heteromorph in their society.

Making her way to the front of the line, Tentacole looks up at her, taking a few moments to recognize who she was before greeting her with a smile from one of his arms.

“Oh hello, I believe we’ve met before,” the hero says with his mask crinkling in what she can tell to be a real smile.

“Yes, we talked back during the war with the league at UA,” Josei responds with a polite smile of her own, placing her signature book down on the table in front of her.

“Ah, you were the one to tell us about the hospital raid,” Tentacole accepts the book, bowing in her direction slightly, “Thank you for your efforts, we couldn’t have done it without you.”

“Oh no, that was all you!” Josei puts her hands up in denial, “Plus it was only because Deku rescued me that I got the courage to tell you about that…”

Tentacole’s eyes look up and down at her attire, making Josei blush under his gaze, now feeling slightly conscious about how over the top she was dressed.

“Well I guess I have another thing to thank him for,” he says with a small chuckle, “Now what can I do for you?”

“I wouldn’t mind your signature in my book here,” Josei says, flipping open to the page she had set aside for the class.

“Sure thing, it’s not like I get asked for a lot of them,” Tentacole comments as he begins to sign with a small pen.

“I imagine that there isn’t the most attention around here,” Josei mutters, noticing how large the crowd was at the other end of the hall, where the booth for Deku had been set up, already dreading how long the wait would be.

“No but I’m glad for the opportunities that I’ve gotten,” Tentacole says as he closes the notebook, handing it back over to Josei with another smile from his arm, “It was nice seeing you again. I hope you have a nice day.”

With a wave goodbye, Josei hurries over to the large line that had formed for the Deku stall, wanting to get her place before the line grows anymore. Looking around, she notices that the line itself wasn’t very organized, from unclear pathways to people attempting to sneak ahead, she was surprised about how little effort was put in to help out the number one hero.

Around her, she starts to feel some people beginning to push each other around, arguments devolving into physical confrontations as they try to get a chance to meet the famous Symbol of Hope. It once again made her thankful for her size, always making her more tough to move but she didn’t appreciate how some people thought it meant that she could be pushed against.

Her ears flickers as she picks up some nearby muttering, under-the-breath comments about the apparently out of place fox woman.

Obstructing the view, taking up too much space in the line, ruining the line.

Wincing at their words, Josei attempts to hunch over, to make herself seem smaller amongst the busy crowd. She had to learn growing up to ignore what she could, but with this many people around and her nerves to meet her hero she couldn’t help but crumble slightly under their words.

Fortunately, the more physical people ended up moving outside of the booth, easing up the line as Josei slowly made her way to the front, finally getting the chance to reunite with her hero after so many years.

With a shaky breath, Josei reaches into her bag, pulling out a poster that she had found for Deku in his costume from when he rescued her. Seeing it on her wall always helped her a lot when she thought about those dark times, knowing that there was someone out there to stand up for her and people like her.

“And who can I sign this for?”

It seemed like he hadn’t recognized her, not that she couldn’t blame him with all of the people that he had saved over his career. But maybe she can shoot another shot with the nickname she called him when he had been rescued in front of UA back then.

“F-For Josei, my crybaby hero…” Josei says nervously, now thinking that she was being too weird about it.

“Ippan-san!” Deku’s eyes go wide in realization, a bright smile beaming at her filling her heart with warmth as he looks up from the poster.

Josei blushes heavily, now that his attention is fully on her while she realizes that her biggest hero (and crush) remembers her after so long.

“How have you been Ippan-san?” Deku stands up from his chair, floating up to meet her eye level, “It’s been a while so it’s a nice surprise to see you here!”

“W-Well I’ve been busy but I had the time to make it over to this convention,” Josei explains, giving him a shy smile.

Josei then watches as his eyes gaze down from her own, taking in the outfit she was wearing to the convention in full, her blush growing even stronger as her embarrassment goes off the charts. Her hero, looking at her wearing an admittedly excessive amount of merch.

“I’m glad you’ve been liking my brand,” Deku chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck, “I wish I could do a bit more to control it though. I don’t think a lot of that is officially branded.”

“Well I don’t there there’s too much that you can do-” Josei begins to reply only to be shoved in the back, startling her.

Looking back to see who had pushed her, Josei’s eyes go wide as the line had gone into a mess behind her, the rowdy group having returned back into the line as everything descends into chaos.

With a low growl emanating from her throat, Deku looks at her in surprise as she addresses the crowd in annoyance.

“Everyone stop messing around and get in line!” Josei shouts above the crowd, her larger size causing the people to freeze, “If you want to meet Deku in an orderly fashion, get in the line correctly or it’s only going to take longer.”

Slowly, the crowd moves themselves into line, low murmuring and grunts of apology as order slowly gets restored. A few security guards come out to address the more physical of the bunch, taking them away as everyone else shuffles into place.

“Come on, it’s not that difficult,” Josei sighs as she looks at the few offenders, waving her hand as the line straightens up, “Thank you everyone!”

With a toothy smile, Josei turns back to Deku, who was still floating next to her, holding the poster in his hand and a faint blush beneath his cute freckles. Reaching into her bag, she pulls out her notebook, flipping it to an empty double page she had set aside for him.

“Wow, that was amazing!” Deku looks back at her with amazement, making her blush slightly again.

“N-No worries, it’s the least I can do for you,” Josei says shyly as she holds out her signature book for him, hiding behind it slightly.

With a quick signature and transfer of her poster, Deku gives her a grateful smile as he floats back over to his chair. It felt a bit more personal of a smile as to the one that she would see on the news, like it was meant only for her.

“You know, it was nice to see you again,” Deku starts as Josei begins to walk away from the stall, “Would you mind if we catch up some more over a coffee? It’d be nice to chat casually rather than, you know…”

Josei watches as he gestures down to the hero costume he was wearing, a sheepish smile on his face as she can only feel her heart race at his suggestion. She was getting invited to talk one-on-one with her biggest hero (and crush!), something she had not imagined happening when she woke up this morning.

“I-I don’t really have any other plans s-so I guess I can,” Josei accepts, playing with tip of one of her ears nervously.

“Great! Here’s my personal number,” Deku smiles brightly, scribbling down on a slip of paper before handing it over to her, “Just send me a message and I’ll let you know when I’m free!”

“I w-will, it was great to see you!” Josei quickly reaches over to him for a hug, which he readily accepts.

“No worries, anytime for a friend,” Deku pulls back from the hug, Josei feeling heat on her face after realizing how forward she had been, “Thanks again for the help!”

Finally taking a step outside of the booth for the Symbol of Hope, Josei finally manages to shake herself out of her funk, feeling the small slip of paper between her fingers. Her hero, Deku, wanted to meet up with her to catch up. Alone.

This wasn’t an opportunity that she couldn’t afford to mess up, a good chance to finally thank her hero for everything he’s done for her. And all she can hope is that she won’t screw it up for the both of them.

==========

Tugging the beanie over his curls, Izuku hutches over slightly in his overtly large All Might hoodie as he pushes his way through the homely door into the nearby coffee shop. With a quaint ring, a few wandering eyes glance in his direction with the new arrival before returning back to their own devices.

With his lessons at UA, Izuku had learned the importance of being able to live in the public without being noticed, making sure to cover his iconic curls or bright emerald eyes. Typically, he’d need to also cover the rest of his face to not attract any more attention, but for some odd reason, he’s always found that nobody is able to recognize him even with his freckles present.

And not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, Izuku scans across the warm café, finally spotting Ippan’s large form looking over a menu in a booth in the corner. With a skip in his step, Izuku slides into the booth opposite, making sure to position the cushions to push him up far enough to make the table comfortable in front of him.

“Hey Ippan-san!” Izuku greets the fox woman with a cheery smile, getting a small wave of hello in return.

“Hi Deku- oh sorry! What should I call you?” Ippan gives a small wave before holding her hand over her mouth, leaning in close to stay quiet, “I don’t want to call any unwanted attention to you.

“Just call me Midoriya,” Izuku waves her concerns off, “Or whatever else is most comfortable for you.”

“Right! Thank you Midoriya-kun,” the fox woman says gratefully as a waitress walks over to the table.

With a quick order of a coffee for Ippan and a hot chocolate for Izuku and a set of pastries to share between the two of them, the waitress leaves as quickly as she arrived, leaving the two of them to start up their conversation again.

“You don’t drink coffee?” Ippan asks confused.

“I’d rather not be too reliant on it, especially from what I saw from my homeroom teacher,” Izuku shivers as he remembers the tired eyed stares that he would see from Aizawa and Shinsou back at UA.

“I see,” Ippan hums, leaning back in her seat, “I definitely needed it to make it through my classes. I’m not sure if I would’ve passed without it.”

“Oh! That’s nice to see that you’ve been doing good for yourself!” Izuku says, genuinely happy to see someone he knows having graduated, “So what have you been up to then?”

“Well after with what happened with you rescuing me, thank you by the way,” Izuku nods at her gratitude, “I had been applying for university courses in journalism.”

“That sounds interesting,” Izuku comments, not knowing much outside of anything related to heroics.

“Yep, I wanted to help highlight some of the issues that heteromorphic users have in our daily lives,” Ippan explains with a far-away look in her eyes.

“I remember how our doors at UA are structured, very tall and wide, with a sliding mechanism to get it out of the way,” Izuku thinks back to his first day, sliding open the door only to have Kacchan yelling once again.

“That’s a good step but it’s a bit more difficult to truly accommodate for everyone so having options available would be a good no matter what,” Ippan continues, gesturing to the large table in front of them, “Look at our own booth, we’re both able to sit here comfortable right?”

“I see,” Izuku mutters, putting his finger to his chin as he takes in Ippan’s words, “I’ll make sure to keep it in mind!”

“Thank you Midoriya-kun,” Ippan gives him a toothy smile as she leans back in her booth, “But I had been given a job offer from Nedzu to be his secretary after the war which would’ve been a very nice job but it wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life.”

“That’s fair enough. You should do what you enjoy in your life,” Izuku nods in agreement, knowing how well it’s worked out for him as a hero.

“Well I think it was just because he wanted to use me to feel taller about himself by sitting on my shoulder,” Ippan giggles, Izuku chuckling with her as he imagines the funny situation.

“So what about now then?”

“Well I ended up graduating with a degree in media and have been skipping around different newspapers for whatever work I can get,” Ippan sighs as their order is delivered to their table, “It’s nice and I get to write my stories but I’m hoping for something bigger in the future.”

“I hope for the best for you,” Izuku reaches out his hand, placing it over her larger one in comfort, “I’m sure it’ll work out in the end.”

“And what about you then Midoriya-kun? I imagine you have some crazy stories to tell,” Ippan turns her gaze onto him, taking a sip of her warm coffee.

“You probably have as good of an idea as I do with how much the media has been covering my life,” Izuku chuckles as he rubs the back of his neck.

“I can see that it’s probably not the most fun,” Ippan gives a small nod in agreement, a small grin on her face.

“No it’s not really but if it makes a few people feel safer in their lives knowing more about what I can do for them, then it’s worth it in the end,” Izuku looks down at his lap, thinking about the times All Might would raise his day by simply existing.

“That’s sounds just like you,” Ippan lets out a cute laugh, “And you’ve started up your own agency right?”

“Yeah, I didn’t want to use the resources that All Might had left over and felt like I needed to find my own path as a hero,” Izuku nods his head as he takes a bite out of a pastry.

“I saw that he donated Might Tower to a charity right?”

“Yep, he thought it could be useful in some way even if he isn’t ever going to use it again,” Izuku thinks back to his conversation with All Might about the matter. It was a long call, “But nobody had wanted to take me in as a sidekick because they all either wanted to use me to just boost their reputation or thought that I would overshadow them. Which unfortunately I can see where they’re coming from.”

“So you founded your own agency instead then right? It’s probably doing well based on your ranking.”

“Well my quirk helps out a lot for the physical part of it but the paperwork is quite intensive,” Izuku chuckles awkwardly, “I’m still figuring out how to handle everything.”

“Do you not have a manager? From what I know that’s a pretty standard practice,” Ippan places her hand over his own, similarly to what he had done just a few moments ago.

“Well there was a lot of offers to be my manager back when I was at UA,” Izuku answers, scratching his chin nervously, “But my teachers kept on telling me to avoid having any ‘gold diggers’ and I think I waited too long to really find anyone to help me out.”

“Wait, have you been just doing it all by yourself?” Ippan asks with a hint of surprise in her voice.

“N-No!” Izuku quickly explains, “The HSPC has given me a small staff to handle the paperwork in regards to my heroics work but everything else I’ve been working through myself. It’s quite the learning experience!”

“That seems like a lot of things for you to be doing,” Ippan says, worry evident in her expression as her ears droop down from her head, “Are you sure that you don’t need any help?”

“I’ll be fine, I can handle it!” Izuku tries to back-track, he doesn’t need to burden a new friend.

“I’d be more than happy to help you out,” Ippan gives him a kind smile, making Izuku relax at its sight, “I’ve had some courses on handling the media anyway so I can lend some expertise there.”

It felt nice, to have someone wanting to look out for him, no matter how much he didn’t want to worry then. To have a friend at his back and to support him in whatever way they can, it made Izuku feel comforted.

“Are you asking if you would like to work for me to help out with my PR stuff?” Izuku teases her, causing the fox woman to jolt back in her seat in shock.

“I-I wouldn’t want to intrude,” Ippan tries to explain, a faint blush appearing past her silky fur, “It’s just- I want to pay you back for what you’ve done for me. Anything that I can do to lighten your burden is something I’d like to do.”

Taking in her kind words, Izuku really appreciates her offer, the chance to have someone with experience in the media to help him out in the place where he truly lacked in the heroics industry.

“Well then, would you like to be my manager then?” Izuku asks, now taking a more serious tone, “We can try out something small to see how it pans out and go from there.”

“S-Sure, I’d really like that,” Ippan agrees, her voice passing over the table softly.

“I’ll ask around for some help with how the contract and work will look before we do anything permanent,” Izuku starts to think of how to practically handle the situation. He was his own boss but there was certain loops he needed to go through, “But I hope that you can be by my side for a long time then.”

Ippan lets out an eep, shaking out of his wandering mind as Izuku slowly realizes the implications of what he had just said. A shade of red begins to crawl up his face, matching the one that Ippan had herself.

I’d like that too…” Ippan says quietly, neither blush fading away.

With the pair finishing up the rest of their food and paying their fair share of the bill despite Izuku’s offers, he finds himself content, glad to have someone that he can trust with some part of his hero work. Especially with what had happened back at the convention, it would be a real help to have Ippan around to help handle what the rest of his small staff couldn’t do.

Plus, Izuku found himself having a real blast to be able to catch up with the fox woman, hearing how she had been doing and what she’s managing in her life. It would be nice to have someone familiar around with his job, to help fight away the loneliness that had been creeping into his work.

It just made him look even more forward to his future work with Ippan especially. To be able to build new relationships in his life as a hero.

“C’mon, let’s go for a walk if you have the time,” Izuku guides Ippan out of the coffee shop as he slides his beanie on once more, “It’d be nice to learn a bit more about each other if we’re going to be working together in the future.”

“Right!” Ippan chirps out, giving him a toothy grin, the corner of her eyes crinkling with how wide her smile was.

Notes:

Here's the pic that inspired me for Ippan's outfit, and really for the rest of this fic.

Thanks for reading and see you in the next chapter!
