Lloyd Adopts Everything (And Nobody Can Stop Him)

Summary:

Kai watches Lloyd make sandwiches for the two kids. “Uh, Lloyd? Where did the children come from?”

“Found them.”

“...You just… found them?”

Lloyd points to the little girl with pink hair. “This one fell out of a portal.” He points to the little boy in the orange hoodie. “This one came up to me and told me about how his foster family is really abusive. I'm adopting them both and you can't stop me!” Lloyd hands the kids their sandwiches, pours two glasses of water for them, and walks out of the room with the kids trailing behind.

Or: Lloyd finds a bunch of kids and wants to keep them. Also, Misako sucks.

Chapter 1

Lloyd Garmadon is walking down the street on his way to the Garmadon Family Reunion (RIP Lloyd) when he hears a child crying in an alleyway. He follows the sound. “Hello?”

The crying stops.

“Hi, um… My name is Lloyd Garmadon. Who are you?”

A little boy of about five or six years old crawls out from behind the dumpster. “My name is Arin.”

Lloyd crouches down to Arin's height. “Nice to meet you, Arin. Are you okay?”

Arin starts crying again. “I… I ran away from my foster family because they were hitting me and yelling at me and they wouldn't give me food… Please don't take me back there…”

Lloyd remembers his similar experiences at Darkley's and hugs the boy. “I promise you, Arin, I will never let those people see you again.”

“Thank you… I don't wanna go back…”

“You won't.”

“But the police are gonna find me and take me back to my foster family.”

Lloyd thinks for a moment. “Arin…”

“Yeah?”

“They can't take you back there if I adopt you.”

Chapter 2

Lloyd resumes walking to the Garmadon Family Reunion— this time with Arin— when a portal opens up and another child falls out of the sky.

The pink-haired girl lands directly in Lloyd’s arms.

Lloyd stares at the five or six year old child in his arms and smiles, seemingly unfazed (because he saw weirder things like, last week). “Hi! I'm Lloyd.”

The girl narrows her eyes suspiciously. “I'm An— Sora. I'm Sora.”

“Nice to meet you, Sora. Tell me, why did you fall out of the sky?”

“How am I supposed to know?”

“Understandable.”

“Where am I?”

“Welcome to Ninjago, Sora.”

Chapter 3

Chapter Text

Lloyd finally gets to the Garmadon Family Reunion (now with Arin and Sora). He knocks on the door of Vinny Folson and Garmadon's apartment and smiles when his sister answers the door.

“Lloyd!” Harumi hugs him.

Lloyd hugs her back. “Sorry I'm late. Got held back by children emerging from alleyways and falling from the sky.”

“…What?

Sora and Arin peek out from behind Lloyd’s legs.

“Oh. My. God.”

“What?” Lloyd asks.

“YOU HAVE KIDS?!”

Upon hearing this, Garmadon runs to the door. “You have WHAT?!”

Misako follows. “Who's the mother?!”

Ultra Violet (who, like Harumi, was adopted by Garmadon after turning good) pushes past everyone. “I'm an aunt?!”

“THEY'RE NOT MY KIDS!!!” Lloyd yells, a lying liar who lies.

“But you said you were going to adopt me,” Arin says.

Sora tugs on his sleeve. “And you said you'd take care of me since I can't get back to my realm.”

Garmadon, Misako, Violet, and Harumi all raise an eyebrow.

Lloyd sighs. “…Yeah, they're my kids.”

“And how long have they been your kids?” Violet asks.

“I don't know, like, an hour?”

Arin looks at his Paw Patrol watch. “Fifty-two minutes and twenty-nine seconds.”

“So this is a new development?” Harumi asks.

“I met them today,” Lloyd confirms.

“Are you sure this is a good idea, sweetie?” Misako asks. “I mean, don't you think it would be better to—”

“To what? To leave them at an abusive boarding school that teaches them to be evil? Yeah, great idea, Mom.” Lloyd picks up the two kids and walks out of the apartment.

“…Let's go.” Harumi grabs Violet’s hand and they follow their brother.

Chapter 4

Lloyd walks into the Monastery with Arin and Sora following him.

Kai watches Lloyd make sandwiches for the two kids. “Uh, Lloyd? Where did the children come from?”

“Found them.”

“…You just… found them?”

Lloyd points to Sora. “This one fell out of a portal.” He points to Arin. “I found this one in an alleyway and he told me about how his foster family is really abusive. I'm adopting them both and you can't stop me!” Lloyd hands the kids their sandwiches and pours two glasses of water for them.

“By the way, your ‘brother’ stopped by.”

“Killow? Wait, why do you say that as if he's not my brother?”

“Because he tried to kill us all.”

“He's doing better. They're all trying, Kai.”

Harumi and Violet come up behind Lloyd and nod.

“Yeah, yeah,” Kai says. “Well, Killow stopped by with the remains of Mr. E. Says he wants to rebuild him.”

Right on cue, Killow comes in and sets a cardboard box of twisted metal down on the counter right in front of Lloyd, Harumi, and Violet. “Rebuild?”

“That's not all the pieces, Killow,” Violet says. “That's only half of him. And most of it is destroyed.”

“…We could replace the missing and broken pieces.”

Harumi rushes forward and digs through the box until she finds Mr. E's personality chip (basically his entire identity in a tiny chip). “Maybe we don't have to rebuild him. We can just install his personality chip into another body.”

“We have a Nindroid body in the workshop,” Lloyd says. “Nya and Jay were building it— something about an alternate timeline where Zane has a brother, and apparently Zane’s brother was almost completely destroyed, so they were building him a new body, but when they went to the lighthouse to get him, he wasn't there.”

Everyone is silent.

“…Did you say ‘lighthouse’?” Harumi asks.

“Yeah, why?”

“That’s where we found Mr. E. In a lighthouse. He looked kinda like Zane, except copper, very rusty, and literally falling apart.”

“Mr. E is Zane’s brother?”

“I guess.”

“…I’ll go get the Nindroid body.”

Chapter 5

Mr. E's eyes snap open and he sits up, looking around wildly.

Harumi rushes to his side. “Echo! How're you feeling?”

Echo raises his hands to use sign language, before Harumi stops him.

“You have a voice now. You don't have to use it if you don't want to, but you can talk.”

“Did you put me in a new body?”

“Yep. Made specifically for you.”

Echo notices Lloyd. “Why is our greatest enemy here?” He whispers to Harumi.

“He's not our enemy anymore.”

Violet looks up from her phone. “Lord Garmadon adopted us, so Lloyd’s our baby brother now.”

Echo closes his eyes. “Wait, so, how much have I missed?”

“We all turned good, did some community service to make up for the evil stuff, and then Garmadon decided to make the name ‘Sons of Garmadon’ much more literal,” Harumi explains.

“So we're not evil anymore?”

“Nope.”

“Thank God. It hurt my soul to fight Zane. I should probably apologize…”

“Don't worry about it,” Lloyd tells the Nindroid. “I explained everything. He really wants to talk to you, but first, he asked me to make sure you're okay with that. You don't have to talk to him if you don't want to.”

“I'll talk to him. Soon.”

Lloyd nods. “Good to know. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go find somewhere for my kids to sleep.”

“You have kids?!” Echo and Killow ask in shock simultaneously.

Chapter 6

Echo exits the room he woke up in to see... chaos.

Arin is stuck on top of the fridge and is crying, while Sora is stacking chairs to get him down. Kai is passed out from getting hit on the head with a falling chair, and Lloyd is trying to keep the chairs stable so that Nya can climb up and grab the kids.

Everyone is fine in the end, but the kids get a scolding from Lloyd for being so reckless.

Zane comes upstairs, so everyone else leaves the two Nindroids alone to talk (Arin and Sora each grab one of Kai's legs and drag him out of the room).

Nya picks Kai up and takes him to the med bay.

Lloyd takes the kids by the hands and leads them to the bedrooms. "Alright, let's see where you can sleep. Are you okay with sharing a room?"

Arin and Sora make eye contact and nod.

"Okay. I can set up the spare room for you two. In the meantime, you guys can take my room."

"But then where will you sleep?" Arin asks.

"I can sleep on the couch."

"No! You can't sleep on the couch!"

"It's just temporary."

"No," Sora argues. "You sleep in your own bed."

Arin nods. "Yeah, we can sleep on the floor."

Lloyd crosses his arms. "No. You're taking my bed and I'll take the couch, and that's final."

"Fiiiiiiiiiine."

"That's what I thought." Lloyd starts moving the two beds in the room off to the sides. "I'll have to clean up in here."

Harumi comes running into the room. "Lloyd! A Dragon just crashed in the courtyard!"

Lloyd and the kids run to the courtyard to see a red Dragon sprawled out on the ground.

Lloyd walks up to the Dragon and kneels down next to it's head. He speaks in the Dragon language. "Hͪ͠ē͚̦̄̅ͅy̰ͣ.͝ ̡̻͗A͍ͬre͍̭̺̒̓̄͢ yo͙̮̫͐̐ͩ͡u͛̊̋͏͚̼̥ ͂͆́oḱ̥͇͔̀ͫ͘ay̜̯̠?͏̼͓̲ ̗̝͢Y̭o͕̳͔͛̍ͣu̾̕ ͎́t͠o̯̼o̎͒ͭk̭̓ ͯ̾͆͢a̦̥̳ͭͥ͌ ̶̿p̮̬̥ret̂̇̂͝t͇̰͎̊̋̀yͭ ͎͕̋ͫh͇̝̳͌ͥ̅a̫̍͒͢ͅr͈͇͒ͧd ̗̜́̎f͉̰̅͑́a̜l͐l̖̘̣.̦̖̖ͨ̒̍"

The Dragon lifts up his wing to reveal a trembling girl with red hair.

The girl struggles to get up.

Lloyd grabs her arms to help her stand.

She swats his hands away. "I don't n-need your he-help."

The Dragon growls softly. "W͒̈́̀y͌̉l̙͌dͭͦ̔f̤͛͘y̦re̦̬̳̒͛̒.̝ ̨̦̦̣̃̊̇Y͕o̼̽͢u'͓̑r̟̪̀̿e̥̩͉ ̀hu̘̬̓̅͢rt.̝̼̮̎ͬ̄ ͧͩ̕L̸̠ͦe͞t̗̣̏̑ ̧h͕̘̻́iṁ̍ͪ͢ ̻hel̛p͖̜̙̍͒̓͡.͖͙̊̚"

"No!" The girl turns to Lloyd. "I'll have you know that I don't trust anyone who isn't a Dragon!"

Lloyd's eyes start glowing gold and he shapeshifts into a Dragon. "W͞ȇ̻̹̽̓ͅl̺̳͊̃l̢͙͕ͦͫ,̣͝ ̎̓I̼̚͜ ̭͎ͨͭ̀s̫̉u͙͍̒̾p̛̠͂p̟̑os̠̪̼͐̅̒e ̲̀t͇h͔̳̔͑̓ͅa̫͆t ̴͛̆won͔̞'t̮͎ bẹͅ ̯̭̆͊a͍̗ͧ̒͊ͅ ͈ͨ͝p͉̤̮̿̇͛ro͊ͧ͞b͚͌l̉͡ȅ̡ͫ̂m."

The girl frowns in confusion, but accepts the Green Ninja's help. She leans on his leg as he uses his tail to help her stay upright.

Lloyd looks at Harumi and Violet and gestures to the red Dragon. Help him.

As he leads her away, the girl looks back. "Wait! No, I need to stay with Heatwave!"

"D͙̩̥o͆n̗̗̍͊'̨͇͇͔̍͌ͤt̶ ̘ͭẁ͓̝̺̈̒o̧̯͓ͯ̅r̫̤̳r̩̮͉ͧͩ̚y,̩̼̓̈́ ͕͌͠m̨̿̽y ͤ̇s̟͇̮ͯ͐̇ȋ̳̪ͫste̘̼͐̍ͤ͜ͅrs͓͇̙͒̌̈́ ̛̱̥w̨i̮̘̙̋͗̐ll ̱͆͢ṭ̠a͓̪͒ͮ͢ķ̮̍e̶ ̗͔g͔̻͓o͍ͯo͙̖̖d̳̲̘̕ ͙̬c̺̤̥͆ͨ̃a̰r̫̳̒̐é̘̝̘͗̇ ̦̹̏̌o̎́f̈́̾ ̥̔h̫͐͠i̜̹ͥͭm̜ͬ."

"No! Heatwave!" Before she can take a step towards the red Dragon, she passes out.

Lloyd catches her with his talons before she hits the ground. He turns back into his human form and picks her up. "I'll take her to the med bay."

Chapter 7

When Lloyd gets back from the med bay after asking Zane to take care of Wyldfyre, he is extremely disappointed to see all his friends arguing with Morro, who apparently exists again and has a child with him.

Morro sees Lloyd. "Great, just who I was looking for!"

Lloyd sighs. "Greetings, cousin."

"Greetings!" The ghost exclaims with a smile. "Look, I found this kid... Her name is Euphrasia, she's from the Cloud Kingdom, and she's the new Elemental Master of Wind. I'd train her myself, but I'd be a horrible teacher."

Lloyd sighs once more. "If you're asking me to take her–"

"Of course I am, Green Beans."

"Fine, I'll train her. I already have two kids anyway. Maybe three. A fourth can't hurt."

"YOU HAVE KIDS?!"

"Yes. Now get out of here, Knock-Off Danny Phantom."

"Okay, okay. Just give me a second." Morro crouches down to Euphrasia's eye-level. "Hey, listen. This is my cousin Lloyd. He's gonna take care of you and teach you how to use your powers. I want you to listen to him, okay?"

Euphrasia nods.

"But if he's working you too hard, you let me know and I'll take care of it. Got it."

Euphrasia nods.

"Okay. Be good. I'll come visit soon." Morro gives her an affectionate kiss on the forehead and she hugs him.

"Goodbye, Uncle Morro," she whispers.

"Goodbye, 'Phrasia." Morro pulls out of the hug and walks to the Monastery door. He turns around and gives Lloyd a two-fingered salute, then leaves.

Lloyd crouches down to Euphrasia's eye-level like Morro had done. "Hey, kiddo. I'm Lloyd. And if I heard correctly, your name is Euphrasia?"

Euphrasia nods.

Lloyd smiles. "Okay. Well, it looks like we're gonna have to do some rearranging. Four new kids in the house, plus an injured Dragon. I'm currently setting up the spare room for the other kids. If you want your own room, we can figure something out, but if you're okay with sharing a room, then that would be great."

"I can share," she says quietly.

"Okay. Why don't you come with me and I can introduce you to the other kids, hm?"

Euphrasia nods and follows him.

Lloyd opens the bedroom door. "Hey, kids. There's someone I want you to meet."

Sora and Arin look up at him.

"This is Euphrasia. She'll be living with us from now on. Be nice, alright?"

"Okay."

"Will do."

The two kids invite Euphrasia to play Superhero Roleplay with them, and she accepts.

Lloyd smiles and leaves the room, glad that his kids can get along well.

Chapter 8

Chapter Text

Lloyd walks into the living room at 7:00 AM to see Euphrasia teaching Arin, Sora, and Wyldfyre how to play Go Fish. "Good morning."

Arin drops his cards. "Where did you come from?!"

Lloyd chuckles. "Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you."

"Auntie Rumi and Auntie Vi-vi stole your cookies."

"They what?"

"They stole your cookies," Sora confirms.

"...Ah, whatever. I'll just buy more."

"And you'll give them to us, right?"

"Maybe."

Sora turns to her siblings. "'Maybe' is grown-up speak for 'no'."

Arin sighs. "Dang it."

Lloyd's heart melts at the genuinely disappointed expression on his son's face. "Yeah, you can have the cookies."

Arin immediately brightens and throws his arms around Lloyd. "Yay! Thanks Dad!"

If anyone asks, there was something in Lloyd's eye. He did not cry. "Anytime, kiddo."
