Work Text:
Liam stormed into Scott’s house, marching in like he lived there. To be fair he did have a key. Scott was enjoying his evening with Isaac, but he could smell that this was a problem that he couldn’t just ignore. “You gonna check on him?” Isaac nudged his boyfriend.
“Can’t I just go one evening with my boyfriend without getting interrupted?” Scott asked the world, more than to Isaac.
Scott found Liam in the kitchen going through his pantry and refrigerator for anything that might make him feel better. “Do you want to talk about it?” All the alpha got in response was a grunt. He knew that he wouldn’t get to him today, so he decided to leave it alone.
He walked back into the living room and shrugged in Isaac’s direction indicating that he had no idea what was going on. He figured that he was just having a bad day.
Isaac knew something was off when he spotted Theo after school.
“Aren’t you usually at school waiting for Liam?” Isaac inquired. He felt a shift in Theo’s posture.
“No,” Theo tried to walk away. Isaac walked up and put his hand on his shoulder.
“Hey. Is there something going on?” Isaac wasn’t usually the touchy feely type all the time, but Scott has been rubbing off on him. Theo has also grown on him since they first met.
Theo looked at the taller boy before sighing a bit. “Me and Liam are not exactly on speaking terms.”
Isaac thinks back to when Liam stormed into Scott’s house a few days ago. “What happened?” Theo was silent for a while. He was just thinking about what happened, not really wanting to remember it. “Hey, you don’t have to talk about it. But just know that I have been in the same position.”
With that Isaac walked away as he thought about what Isaac meant by that.
Isaac told Scott what happened earlier. “They probably got into a fight, but they get into fights all the time. What is different about it this time?” Isaac wouldn’t be able to answer even if he wanted to. Scott just leaned on his boyfriend trying to figure out what happened to make those two not even talk to each other.
It happened for another few days and at that point Isaac was getting fed up not only with those two being mad at each other, but Scott mopping that he wasn’t able to do anything about the situation.
Isaac showed up at Liam’s house unannounced. Liam’s mom let him in knowing that he was one of his pack. He just walked straight up to Liam’s room, when he found him lying face down on the bed.
“What are you doing?” Isaac asked softly. All he got in return was some mumbling. He smelled like a mix of sadness and anger. “I didn’t hear that.” Isaac stated knowing that he won’t be able to make out any words, even with his enhanced hearing.
Liam sat up a bit and said, “I said fuck off.” He plopped down again right after he said that.
Isaac was done being soft and patient. If Liam wanted to do this the hard way, he was going to do this the hard way.
“Get up,” Isaac said as he tried to flip Liam over. He was a lot harder to flip than he initially thought due to his size.
“No go away,” Liam sounded like he was pouting as he struggled against the other beta.
“Not until you fix this thing,” he exaggerated his arms “with Theo. It is getting annoying. I just want to talk to my boyfriend without him being mopey all the time because of you two.” Liam flopped back down curling himself up to avoid this conversation. “I swear to god Liam. If you don’t tell me what the hell is going on. I am going to call Scott and force him to force you to go to Theo right now and make up.”
Isaac pulled out his phone and started to call Scott. “Scott. Liam’s house. Now. If you don’t get here in the next ten minutes, I will leave your ass and go back to France.” Sure, enough Scott pulled up seven minutes later.
“What was so important that you needed me he-?” As he walked into the room, he noticed the curled-up ball that was his beta. “Is he okay?”
“He’s being a little bitch.” Isaac hissed out.
“No, I’m not,” Liam said as he curled tighter into a ball.
It was Scott’s turn to pull out his phone. “Hey Theo. Can you come to Liam’s? There seems to be a problem and we need your help.” Scott barely got to finish his sentence before he was hung up on. Isaac looked at him thinking he was being ignored, but Scott knew better. They just waited until Theo was running through Liam’s door.
“What is the probl-” The question died in his throat as he saw what this was. “You two did not.”
“Yes, we did. I swear if I have to go one more day with you two like this, I will go join Allison.” Theo just turned about to walk away but got stopped by Scott.
“Will one of you just tell us what is going on?”
Theo grunted a bit but spoke. “Maybe you should ask him. He is the one that has the problem.”
Liam shot up at that statement, his eyes flaring a bit. “No. This is your fault.”
“How the hell is it my fault? I will not apologize for protecting you. Plain and simple.” Theo will always protect Liam, even if it would cost his own life.
Isaac was the one to interrupt. “Wait, what do you mean?”
“Liam was having some problems with other students. A few of them to be precise. They cornered him, but he wouldn’t do anything about it. I wasn’t going to sit around and let them hurt him.” Theo was the one who slightly lost control rethinking about what happened.
Liam’s eyes started to water. “I said I would be fine. You didn’t have to go and send them to the hospital.”
This pissed off Theo more. Thinking that Liam deserves this. “I don’t care if I have to kill them.” Scott and Isaac’s breath hitched for a second. “If anyone and I mean anyone,” Theo glares at the other two. “Hurts you. I will not hesitate to eliminate the problem.”
“Okay… I think we just have a little misunderstanding.” Scott is always trying to be the mediator. “Could you two explain what you are mad about?”
“I am pissed off that your little beta is so willing to put himself in danger just to prove a point.” They were having an intense stare off. Neither of them will back down and they both knew it.
“Could you two just talk?” Scott always was the one with the plan. Not always a good plan, but a plan.
“Stay out of this!” They both yelled. Liam stood to approach Theo, while Theo started walking towards him.
“I think we should just leave…” Scott said to his boyfriend.
“I want to see what will happen.” Isaac is too invested in this conversation to really pay attention to anything else. Like a drama that you need to know the ending of. Isaac was kind of hoping for a fist fight because he would think it would be more interesting.
They were face to face now. The anger radiating in the room. No one moved as they just stared at each other. Theo was the first one to move. Grabbing the back of Liam’s head by his hair and putting his other hand on his chin. “Look at me,” he said sternly.
Liam attempted to break out of his grip but was forced to look at his boyfriend. “Look at me,” he snarled a bit, as his eyes flashed yellow as he was slowly losing control of his anger. Liam eventually relented to see the anger and pain in Theo’s eyes. “I don't give any shits about what happens to me or anyone else. I only care about what happens to you. If that requires sending people to the hospital, so be it. If you put yourself in these kinds of situations, then I will keep sending people to the hospital. You got it?” Liam nodded a bit. “Say it.” Theo said firmly.
“I understand,” Liam said as he lost the fight in his body.
“Good,” the taller boy said as he pulled the other towards him. Liam’s arms wrapped around Theo, missing the feeling.
“I think it might be time to step out.” Scott grabbed Isaac’s arm and pulled him out the door doing his best to make too much noise. As they left Theo and Liam were still in the same position and would assume they would stay like that for a while.
